Adidas Debuts The SPEEDFACTORY AM4 Which Is Specially Designed For Each City's Terrains

It’s the age of advanced technology, so we now have robots operating our hotels, robots driving cars and robots serving us in restaurants. Honestly we just want flying cars and time-travelling parallel dimensions, but I guess we’ll have to make do with robots for now.

You might think that its nothing new to have factories use robots and machines to manufacture their products. But most trainers in factories are made by hand which results in slower production and higher cost of labour.

The new adidas Speedfactory in Germany, however, is totally manned by robots, down to the construction of the shoe. The factory collects individual athlete data and uses it to create the best shoes, all monitored through robots which can test everything from fit to performance before the shoes are sent to production in a very streamlined process to keep up with our trends that we change almost as fast as the months go by. Based on this, adidas has created a new line of shoes for 6 different cities after compiling data and insights from athletes in those cities. Trendy and technologically-advanced designs? adidas is waaaaay ahead of the game here.

The very first adidas SPEEDFACTORY AM4 to debut is the AM4LDN version in London. The shoe will use BOOST technology and feedback from athletes and customers to give you a shoe designed for the best possible performance. Oh and the shoe is lightweight too, which means that you cannot blame your gear if you fail to perform.

Not only will the other city releases have different colourways, but the actual construction of the shoes will differ as well because of the various climates and terrains. We aren’t quite sure what will happen if you use a shoe designed for the wet roads of London in sunny LA, but no one is stopping you from trying! Just let us know how it goes.

The adidas AM4 doesn’t have the same cool factor as the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 that comes with self-lacing technology which just dropped earlier this month, but it is a worthy investment if you are serious about exercising outdoors. Singapore won’t have its own drop (boohoo), so for now you can check out the latest UltraBOOST ATR that’s perfect for Singapore’s fickle-minded weather or pray really, really hard for the Chanel x adidas x Pharrell Williams NMDs to become a reality.

The adidas AM4 LDN is currently sold out online and will drop in stores in London on 26 Oct, price TBC. The other adidas AM4 colourways will drop in New York City, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
