The fitness wearable market is yugeee (say that like Donald Trump). Exercise used to be just you and your reps – well, not anymore. Whether it’s smartwatches, fitness bands, or even earbuds, more and more people are using technology to keep in shape, and there’s been a seismic shift in exercise trends, so the way we listen to music while working out has changed too.
Enter the Jabra Elite Sport. As its name handily suggests, these earbuds are an “elite” form of sport earphones – completely wireless, with two microphones in each bud to filter out background noise and a waterproof rating of IP67 (you can dunk it up to a metre underwater for 30 minutes, and it won’t come close to spoiling).
But that’s not the real draw of this petite gadget. The Elite Sport comes packed with a precise heart rate monitor. It can then be paired with the Jabra Sport Life app to track and analyse your fitness. That includes automatically counting your reps, predicting pace, getting recovery tips, and monitoring your absolute fitness levels.
All this happens via “in-ear coaching”, which basically means that this operating system literally tells you how to get fit, like in the movie Her, just that everything’s fitness-focused here.
And you know what they all say: battery life is king. Look forward to 4.5 hours of playtime with the Elite Sport, and bump it up to a total of 13.5 hours of power with a portable charging case. However, we suggest that you find the right ear tips for a secure fit, lest they feel too bulky when you exercise.
The Jabra Elite Sport isn’t a new gadget by any means (having been released last December), although this is a new version that has upgraded battery life. It will retail for $368 and will be available from early November 2017 at authorised Jabra retailers. The Elite Sport is available in Lime Green Grey and Black.
