In collaboration with Le Sportsac, British designer Donna Wilson will soon be launching her first-ever bag and accessory collection. You’ll see Le Sportsac’s Winter 2017 collection transform bestselling classics into quirky but adorable totes, cases, and bags – all featuring Wilson’s woodland creatures or wildlife animals.
This isn’t the first time Wilson’s iconic creations are in town: she held her an exhibition and hosted a pop up shop for her Giant Creatures and Trees in 2015. But we’re certainly enjoying her expedition into Singapore with the new Donna Wilson x LeSportsac collection.
Having grown up on a farm in the tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside, Wilson paints a picture-perfect story of her childhood. By learning handcrafted techniques such as felting, sewing, knitting, and wrapping, Wilson soon fell in love with the art of craft and yep, you guessed it – we fell in love with her craft.
Wilson names each creature, and through her designs, you can see how she’s not only crafted the design but also painstakingly crafted a unique personality for each creature. Where else can you find a graphic-printed cosmetic case that features a knitted cacti plant happily holding a chirpy-looking green balloon?
Or a case with a Panda and chipmunk sleeping snugly side-by-side against a plaid bedspread?
The three that will steal the show will undoubtedly be the totes: Pia Panda, Freddie Fox, and Ziggy Cat. Produced in a warm textured style, the totes come with distinguishable features of each animal – Pia has black blasé eyes, Freddie has pointy ears, and Ziggy has whiskers and a red ribbon adorning an ear.
The collection’s mainstay is the Singing in the Woods print, which features Wilson’s most iconic creatures. The print will be available across Le Sportsac’s best-selling cosmetics, handbags, book bags, and Weekenders.
We like this new direction Le Sportsac is taking.
