Friends is Finally Coming to Netflix Singapore!

If Netflix were a person, he or she might as well sing that famed Friends line, “I’ll be there for you”, cause everyone’s favourite 90s sitcom is back and streaming, on you guessed it – Netflix, almost 14 years after the final episode was aired in May 2004.
In a video posted on Facebook (Jan 1), the streaming site announced that it was bringing back the iconic American sitcom, and it all seems to be thanks to the efforts of one persistent fan (and hero) called Gavin Neo.

In the video announcement, Netflix said: “While Singapore learnt Spanish with the Cali Cartel, fell for Steve Harrington, went gaga over nasi lemak and grumbled about public transport, one guy’s obsession over his favourite squad of six never wavered.”
In the post accompanying the video, Netflix added “Dear Gavin (and those of you just like him). In 2017, you’ve been asking us the same question repeatedly for 6 months. Now, it’s finally happening. FRIENDS (TV Show). All 10 seasons. Now streaming. Your new year just got a lot happier.”

Gavin had his fair share of fans

And of course, the video proceeded to show numerous screenshots of Gavin’s posts, most of them made up of hilarious quips like, “A joke is meant to make people laugh. Friends made millions of people laugh too. Bring it back.”
Well, guess what Gavin. Friends is back, and it’s all thanks to your determination and the time you took to type out all those Facebook comments.
All of us Friends fans will forever be in your debt, and we know it probably won’t happen again, but we’re going to follow your lead and spam Netflix’s social media pages with requests of old shows that we’ve been dying to binge on. The Office, anyone?
