There's A New Harry Potter Film And It's All About Voldemort

It has been around 7 years since the last film of the Harry Potter Series was screened in cinemas and many Potterheads are still craving more from J.K. Rowling’s epic book series. Also, we currently have the Fantastic Beasts series but we just want more Harry Potter. The last addition to the series was Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, written as a stage play and is currently being staged at London’s West End. The play will also be heading to New York this March and to Melbourne in 2019.

Well, for Potterheads who can’t get their hands on those play tickets, we have some extraordinary news for you: a new Harry Potter film has just been released on YouTube!
Okay, technically, it isn’t an official film. This new film, called Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, is actually a fan-made film by filmmakers Gianmaria Pezzato and Stefano Presti, under Tryangle Films. Centred on how Tom Riddle’s power grew to transform him into You-Know-Who, the film weaves new theories and plots into the existing story to give us a Harry Potter film that fans will definitely enjoy.
Although this wasn’t produced by Hollywood, don’t be fooled – this film is not your usual amateur production. Albeit some poor voice-overs and acting, the special effects and settings are good enough to suck us back into the wonderful wizarding world. If you don’t believe us, just check out the trailer below:

It started off as a Kickstarter campaign but, just when it was picking up momentum, the campaign was taken down by Warner Bros., the distributor of the film franchise. The two film directors met up with Warner Bros. and, after some negotiation, were given the green light to continue the project as long as it was non-profit. Thank goodness.
The beginning of the film was a bit disorienting and confusing due to the lack of context and sudden changes in settings but the film started to become more cohesive as the story progressed, if you ask us. In our attempt to not give any spoilers away, this is all we will say about the plot: it gives us more theories to play with and brood over (in addition to the thousands of fan theories already on the internet) and definitely satiates our desire for anything Harry Potter.
Check out the full film here, or head to Tryangle Film’s YouTube channel for more trailers of the fan film.
