Get Ready To Get That Warm Glow With Anastasia Beverly Hills' New Powder Bronzers

We’re all familiar with Anastasia Beverly Hills’ brow pomade, brow wiz (basically anything you need for perfect brows), eyeshadow palettes (including controversial ones *coughsubculturecough*) and glow kits (for that killer highlight).
This February, ABH is dropping a brand new product: powder bronzers! Although they have launched many contour palettes, highlighter palettes and cheek palettes, this is the first line of bronzers from the brand. Also, they would not be sold as as part of a palette but as individual compacts, debuting in 6 matte shades.

In an interview with Elle.com, president of ABH, Claudia Soare, said that the team wanted to provide a wide range of bronzers to suit multiple skin tones, thus launching a line that takes skin colour and undertones into consideration.
6 shades is quite a significant quantity for the debut of a single line of bronzers, if you ask us. However, we still hope that the line expands and includes a few more shades in the future to ensure that every one is able to find the perfect bronzer for their skin tone.

Left to right: Rich Amber, Saddle, Tawny, Rosewood, Cappuccino, Mahogany

According to Elle, not only are the shades amazing, the formula of the powder bronzers is to-die-for. They are made of finely milled powder that blend seamlessly into the skin for a natural-looking finish that is velvety smooth. The colours are also easily buildable for those who desire more warmth and definition.
Considering that many of ABH’s products have been highly raved about and become must-haves in many beauty gurus’ make up collection, we expect these bronzers to be of exceptional quality. We’re not sure if they will be physically available in Singapore but you can get your hands on them from online retailers. Don’t worry, they ship to Singapore. Yay!
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer will be available at anastasiabeverlyhills.com from 20 February and online at sephora.com from 6 March.

Speed City Traffic In Buttery Leathers And Tweed Cut-Offs With CHANEL's SS18 Pre-Collection

Last week’s been monumentally chilly, at least by Singapore’s weather standards. But as the resistant drizzle and sniffle-inducing winds past us for a familiar sun, we’re finding ourselves trading off our insulant hoodies and fuzzy sweatpants for summerier options from our closets to broadcast our moods while effectively powering through the villainous humidity. We’ve checked out CHANEL’s SS18 shimmery adornments and Valentino’s SS18 dazzling magpies, but CHANEL’s just released their latest campaign video for their SS18 pre-collection to impressively facilitate our wardrobe’s 22 to 30°C climatic transition.

French model Camille Hurel plays a girl on-the-go, casually clipping on a fabulous pair of octagon frame diamond double C earrings that spring livelily as she bobs her head and strapping a floral-embellished pastel pink set of fingerless gloves, a la Harley Davidson meets Legally Blonde. Camille’s perfectly permed do-up cascades luxuriously soaring like a kite in the sky above a park on a windy afternoon credit to the gigantic studio fan on right in front of her; we certainly hope to recreate that look in real life, but we reckon no amount of brisk walking could even touch Camille’s effortlessness.

Leather’s not the friendliest material to pull off (we instantly think of piping hot car seats and sweaty BDSM, don’t judge). Here, however, are a skirt and midi dress that look sexy without being suffocating. There’s also a biker jacket quilted to pair with our favourite CHANEL bags when caring about the latest trends becomes a conundrum. Don’t think this collection lets you off easy though — those two-tone clogs will give you a run for your style. Otherwise, invest in the obvious star of the collection: the traffic-cone orange runners that exuberate the joie de vivre of Spring-Summer.
chaneltweed
Speaking of trends, casual suiting’s become quite a hot favourite on the SS18 runways from comical MSGM to avant-garde Craig Green (not that CHANEL cares), and we’re kind of digging the tweed mini skirts and cut-offs that then makes it okay to wear a fitted blazer to match. Styled quirkily over a sequin mini dress or with our existing workwear are style tips we know we’ll emulate, but again those clearly versatile runners look great ankle strap on or off to inject some youth into repurposed tailoring we revisit the French house every season for.
CHANEL’s SS18 pre-collection launches today in all Singapore boutiques.

Review: Why The End Of The F*cking World Deserves That 100% Rating On Rotten Tomatoes

As the name suggests, The End Of The F*cking World is not your usual teen comedy. It’s still a comedy, albeit a bleaker and more morbid version. If you’re into dark comedies, you’ve just stumbled onto your next binge series.
Based on the comic book of the same name by Charles Forsman, The End Of

The F*cking World takes to the screen in a refreshingly indie adaptation that blends violence and humour. Forsman’s unique perspective has made him a well-loved voice in the world of indie comics, and it looks like this adaptation is set to entertain us couch potatoes too.

Excerpt from the original comic by Charles Forsman

Packaged into 8 episodes that are all under 22 minutes each, the series will be over sooner than you realise. Each episode draws you further into the lives of our main couple, James and Alyssa, who must honestly be the most awkward yet suitable pairing ever. The series is all about the nitty-gritty details of real-life, and plays out like a Wes Anderson movie. In a oversaturated landscape, this series is like a breath of fresh air due to its interestingly unorthodox plot.

The show seems to move at a slow pace, yet so much is happening at the same time, compelling you to click the ‘play’ button because you can’t even wait for the 20 seconds in between episodes on Netflix.

the-end-of-the-fucking-world

Awkward, awkward, AWKWARD

Right from the get-go, our not-so-lovable-but-super-relatable antagonist, James, proclaims himself to be a psychopath. As he picks out his first victim and tries to plan out his first murder, he soon realises that not everything is so simple. James agrees to accompany Alyssa to run away from home to find her father with his own ulterior motives that sets them on a journey to understand themselves and the world more. This coming-of-age series is punctuated with nuances of comedy and real-life teachings that we can all relate personally, without the ‘predictable’ element of so many other coming-of-age shows out there.

SPOILER ALERT!

Now that the trailer’s got your attention, let’s get more into why everyone needs to watch The End Of The F*cking World this weekend. The premise is pretty interesting, but it’s the characters and their dynamics that really got to us.

Let’s start off with the unfortunate James and Alyssa. It seems our two main characters don’t get a break as they face more serious troubles which starts small like stealing a car and running without paying after eating at a diner, but eventually ends up in the shithole when James gets his wish to murder someone. Except that the someone isn’t Alyssa, and he’s actually saving her.To put it bluntly, the two of them seem to face the end of the f*cking world at every turn as they try to outrun the law. Despite the awry mess that James and Alyssa find themselves in, they end up seeing the good in each other – a gentle reminder that no matter how how much of a loner you think you are, there is someone else out there for you. You just need to find that one person. For James and Alyssa, that person is each other. They can so easily discard clothes, cars, and other people, yet they still find their way back to each other. You could even call them soulmates, but hey, just remember the circumstances in which they met and you’ll be reconsidering if love is such a beautiful thing after all.

The End of the F***ing World
Jessica Barden and Alex Lawther, who play Alyssa and James, have an quiet chemistry that gradually intensifies as the show progresses. Despite their deadpan acting that somehow seems to work as part of their characters, Barden and Lawther are able to turn any scene into a thrilling, nail-biting one in the fly of a moment. Couple that with the on point music by music supervisor Matt Biffa who chooses the right music – whether is an edgy 1960 chart topper or classical strings – turning scenes that would seem cliched into lighthearted, and even comedic moments, and you’ve got an unique show unlike any other out there. You know those scenes of mayhem with classical music in the background? Yes, you can expect those for some dark comedy in this series.

771b8035808d6ce6

Our favourite dynamic had to be the pair of detectives who were assigned to tracking down the murderer of Clive Koch. We’re going to leave you to watch the series to find out who he is, how he is related to our favourite teen couple, and why he got murdered. Just like every other police duo that makes for comedy gold, DC Eunice Noon and DC Teri Donoghue are pretty conflicting when it comes to morals and ethics. Donoghue’s more cold-hearted, and even wants to wait a few days for James to turn 18 so that he can be officially tried as an adult on the stand, whilst Noon is more sympathetic to the kids and their situation. Just like real life, a person’s life can change drastically depending on who you meet, and this ‘life-or-death’ situation is the perfect example of just how much your life depends on the people around you.

6-the-end-of-the-fucking-world-mystery-1073034

DC Eunice Noon and DC Teri Donoghue

Their interactions, along with Alyssa’s dysfunctional family dynamics, makes us sympathise more with our anti-hero couple. It’s hard not to understand why James and Alyssa don’t give a shit about anyone else when you learn about how they’ve been treated as they were growing up. That being said, we do see James and Alyssa grow up as they face the ever-increasing difficulties with each other whilst understanding each other on a deeper level, bringing them closer.

You thought this show was morbid enough as it is? Wait till you read the comic which is on a whole other level of f**kery (excuse my language but there is really no other way to describe it).

gallery-1515058061-1389399-617012-zoomed

The show has gone viral as Netflix’s latest hit, even managing to score 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes when it was first launched, but dropped to 96% at the time of writing (which is still impressive). As all successful movies, there’s already talks if there would be a second season of the show. While we loved the show, we don’t know if a second season will live up to the first one. Not only will the screenwriters be out of source material, we all know what happens to James, and Alyssa’s romantic but slightly warped way of commemorating his memory that stays true to her character. If they changed that part, that’ll just be the end of the f**king book.

The End of the F***ing World is now streaming on Netflix global.

Pink Is Still Hot In 2018

Pantone announced that Ultra Violet would be the Colour of The Year for 2018 but it seems like brands are still in love with its predecessor, Millennial Pink.
Brands like New Balance, Nike, Gucci and Saint Laurent have recently dropped pink items, ranging from bags and shoes to full tracksuits. In all honesty, we aren’t complaining. The blush tones are perfect for Spring and we don’t mind getting just a few more pink items to add to our closet.
Here are some of the recent pink-toned drops that we are loving:

Top row, left to right: Gucci Printed Leather Drawstring Bag US$1,592 on mytheresa.com, Nike SB Shield Jacket in Elemental Pink US$65, Acne Studios Joughy Candy Pink US$290
Bottom row, left to right: BAPE STA Low ¥18,000, New Balance 300 REVLITE in Dusted Peach £70, Saint Laurent Small Loulou Leather Backpack  US$1,690 on mytheresa.com

Pink is perfect to brighten up your outfit, not just on Wednesdays, but any day of the week! Opt for a neon pink/fuchsia for something more loud and bold or go for pale pastel pink or muted, dusty rose for something more subtle and sophisticated.
Whichever shade of pink you prefer, it doesn’t seem like the colour is going out of style any time soon so don’t be afraid to stock up on more pink items this season.

"Coolest Monkey In The Jungle" Forces H&M To Shut Down In South Africa

A little close to a week ago, one of our go-to fast fashion brands H&M issued an apology on their website and Instagram over an ad they’d released featuring a black boy in a green sweatshirt that read “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle.”

An apology just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore in the digital era, so predictably social media users took to their accounts slamming H&M for their missteps. H&M’s from Sweden (which in our minds conjures the thoughts IKEA meatballs and snowy alps) but with an international reach infiltrating even the likes of everyday Singaporeans, a localised perception of culture isn’t enough to suit countries with tense racial relations.

Clearly pulling the ad and cancelling all stocks of the controversial sweatshirt weren’t enough to cool off H&M’s South African customers’ steam; on Saturday, groups of protestors from political party Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were spotted chanting outside various outlets across the country before marching inside to cacophonously trash clothing racks and store displays as a violent display of anger.
Considering the racial tensions they’ve brought up in that community, H&M announced the temporary closure of all their South African stores. As they investigate internally and regulate their racial sensitivity policies, several EFF leaders have even suggested H&M be pulled out of their country. Experts have speculated if there was a backend motive to their newsworthy behaviour beyond H&M’s ad, but whatever their message its impact was certainly delivered (with a punch).

https://www.instagram.com/p/BdvGFCkhHYK/?hl=en&taken-by=ijessewilliams

Celebrities who’ve been in business with H&M have been quick to speak out against them, some like The Weeknd and Jesse Williams calling out their tone-deafness and cutting ties with the company. Others, like P Diddy, have reportedly reclaimed the young boy’s dignity “exploited” in H&M’s ad by offering him a one million dollar modelling contract. With two sides to every coin, however, there’re people who’re bound to use the “we don’t see colour” card with regards to H&M putting the racially charged sweatshirt on the boy. One standout detractor of the backlash is Terry Mango, the boy’s mom. Regardless, H&M has stood by their apology and are scrambling to erase this image from customers’ minds.

The Surprising Beauty Benefits Weed Has to Offer

Plenty Some of you are probably familiar with that zen mode your body and brain is put on when you smoke, vape, or consume cannabis (very confident you’ve got that bit covered), but what about the effects marijuana has when you use a beauty product that’s infused with it? That’s right, kids. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the hidden beauty benefits weed has to offer.

We know, we know. It’s not a good idea to peddle beauty products laced with hemp here in Singapore, but thanks to this particular face mask that made the news, we’ve decided to unearth other beauty products that share the same wonderful ingredient.
So, why the hell is there weed in my moisturiser?
As the use of medical and recreational pot becomes increasingly welcomed in the United States, companies have started to experiment with the marijuana plant the same way they would with every other botanical option out there. Honestly, who wouldn’t try to capitalise on its legalisation? In the beauty industry, cannabidiol (CBD) is quickly becoming the next “it” ingredient incorporated into skincare and makeup products, all vying for a spot on your bathroom shelf.
Can it actually do anything for my skin?
Of course, they won’t get you high since these formulas use non-psychoactive extracts from the plant, but there’s a growing body of scientific research that attests to CBD’s ability to lower inflammation, reduce anxiety, and improve one’s complexion. See, cannabinoids don’t just have anti-aging properties, they’re also chock full of antioxidants that are able to help modulate sebum production. And since most weed-infused beauty items contain hemp oil, the fatty acids seal in cracks between skin cells to soothe and hydrate inflamed skin, so it helps to regulate dry skin, acne, and various skin diseases when applied topically.
Perhaps it’s worth giving weed a whirl.

Okay, so our last find doesn’t exactly contain weed, but it is infused with a lovely cannabis accord, which is a balanced blend of notes that smells like an impression of actual cannabis. Our Guide to Finding Your Signature Lip Colour

There are a few tried-and-true beauty items we should all have in our arsenal: a do-it-all concealer, a go-to scent, and a cleanser that never lets us down. And that brings us to the next suggestion in said collection: a signature lip colour.

halffacestitched2

Finding the right hue that flatters your features, complements most of your wardrobe, and reflects your personality won’t only offer an elegant edge to your image – it’ll save you plenty of time in the prep department, too. And while there’s definitely a shade we inherently gravitate towards, finding a statement shade to call our signature look isn’t easy, which is why shu uemura’s here to help you discover your #lipsignature with their new range of laque supreme liquid lipsticks.

shu uemura has given its laque supreme range a sleek ombré renovation, welcoming 11 new shades to their group of 5 key colours, all tailored to flatter Asian skin tones. This time, they’ve blended the shu red dye with lumier coating polymers, which not only ups the saturation – it allows the nourishing water-based formula to impart a lasting sheen on the lips too, so you can sport a pigmented pout that dares you to express yourself.

Liquid lipsticks of a matte variety have held the limelight in recent years, but there’s just something brilliantly bold about a lightweight, high-shine formula that delivers intense, vibrant colour without feathering or cracking. Parched lips, be damned.

International celebrities with the likes of Rainie Yang and Lauren Tsai have shown us their lip signatures and how the shades symbolise them. Ahead, we invited 3 local personalities with 3 distinct styles to do the same and pick out their signature lip shade from the lineup of captivating colours. Find out which of the shu uemura laque supreme shades channels their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent best; and get inspired to take on one of these vivid hues yourself.

PEGGY CHANG, Blogger and Co-owner of The Tiramisu Hero
Known for its quirky, whimsical décor, The Tiramisu Hero is a charming café nestled along Tyrwhitt Road, drawing a steady stream of avid café hoppers since its doors opened 4 years ago. Quaint and endearing, the café is an adequate reflection of its co-owner Peggy, better recognised as Sixpegs, the independent blogger with a perpetual pixie cut and a playful approach to fashion. Tattoos and silver studs proudly on display, the 33-year-old walked on set in ripped jeans and instantly found her signature lip shade: shu uemura’s laque supreme in WN05. It comes as no surprise, though. Since she’s got a penchant for darker lip colours, finding her #lipsignature was an easy process.
peggyanimatedsig2
Peggy is wearing shu uemura’s laque supreme in WN05
“Wine is my lip signature; the colour calls out to my unpredictable and adventurous yet quaint side,
which echoes in my café The Tiramisu Hero.”

Of course, it’s not a shade most girls would go for when we think of an everyday lip, but what Peggy reaches for when she wants to take her look from desk to dusk is a darker shade to create a vampy lip. “I usually keep the rest of my makeup simple, but I’ll glam it up by doing a bolder lip,” she shares, which makes a deep burgundy the perfect transition colour for her. This daring hue doesn’t just flatter her warm complexion, it brings out her inherent confidence, too – something we all wish we could possess. It’s a colour that commands attention, and we’re definitely feeling more adventurous now because of her.

SOPHIA CHONG, Founder and Creative Director of The Juice Market
One look at Sophia’s Instagram page, and you’ll see why it makes perfect sense that she’s the founder and creative director of The Juice Market, an online fashion boutique which features modern, stylish options for the female millennial. At 27, the ambitious girlboss has set her sights on the Asian region, with hopes of expanding to neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Indonesia this year, taking the label even further with her team of 6. She’s looking to change up The Juice Market’s design and branding soon enough, and she may also be tweaking her makeup look a little now using shu uemura’s laque supreme in PK05.
sophiaanimatedsig
Sophia is wearing shu uemura’s laque supreme in PK05
“Pink is my lip signature; it symbolises my carefree nature, reminding me not to
take things too seriously – to live in the moment and have fun.”

Sophia’s everyday makeup hones in on her eyes, placing more emphasis on her lashes and brows; and when it comes to her lips, she prefers creating an ombré look, which made her experience sporting a full lip of vibrant pink a rather fresh one. While she does love the sleek look and moisturising texture of the laque supreme, she admits, “I’m going to try to create a gradient lip look with this.” It’s easy to see why she picked a pink, too. Similar to how versatile Sophia is with her style, a bright fuchsia is able to adapt to every vibe she creates while adding a touch of vigour to her complexion – the best shade for an instant pick-me-up.

LAYLA ONG, Model
Pictures may capture her elegant insouciance, but not the playfulness that makes an in-person Layla even more relatable. If she appeared shy and reserved on the most recent cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model, there’s actually more to her than meets the eye. In fact, we learned quickly that Layla can be rather animated – even the subtlest expressions come across loud and clear, which gives the portfolio of this lanky 21-year-old a dynamic edge. What you might not know too is that she’s been getting real creative with cute collages on Instagram as of late, taking us through a curated feed that feels almost like a personal scrapbook. A girl with an artistic flair, for sure.
laylaanimatedsig2
Layla is wearing shu uemura’s laque supreme in RD05
“Red is my lip signature; it symbolises the vibrancy of my work.
A red lip transforms me, just like how I transform in front of the camera.”

When Layla was asked to select her signature shade, the choice was easy – a vivid red by way of shu uemura’s laque supreme in RD05. For Layla, red is “a woman’s colour”, symbolising a feminine spirit in all its uniqueness and audacity. While you’ll rarely see her with makeup on when she’s off-duty, she loves sporting a ruby hue on special occasions like date nights and formal events. “Red is really my go-to colour. If I could, I would wear it every day!” she exclaims. She loves how the laque supreme gives her lips that extra gleam to stand out, and from what we’ve seen thus far, the RD05 shade truly captures the innate vibrancy of her work.

Review: You’ll Have Time For this 1-Minute Bubble Mask Even If You Are Running Late

The novelty of bubble masks is still going strong, even though some of us have already moved on to glitter masks. But glitter is a nightmare in disguise, which is why we are going to stick to bubble masks for a little while longer.

Mamonde, a Korean beauty brand where every single product is powered by florals, has recently brought their rose-inspired range of skincare. Because it reminded us so much of fresh’s rose range but at a fraction of their cost, Mamonde certainly caught our attention. Mamonde’s skincare is also designed for Asian skin, meaning that their formulas and products are more lightweight. Yay, Mamonde!

Amongst the masks was the Petal Purifying Bubble Mask that was made for those who need a quick fix. We don’t always have the time to wait 10 to 20 minutes for a face mask to work its magic (especially when we’re almost always running late), so when we heard that this mask only takes one minute, we were sold.

mamonde2

Look at that creamy, rosy goodness – your skin will thank you  for it

WHAT IS IT

A one-minute wash off mask that is formulated with rose petals. The rose mask has a comforting fragrance, and it also promises to infuse your skin with all the good properties that roses are known to have. The mask includes real rose petals, and helps to moisturise your skin whilst keeping it clear and smooth with all the antioxidants it contains.

Once applied, the mask will start reacting with the oxygen in the air, resulting in soft little micro bubbles similar to the bubble foam you get when you lather soap. You can hear and feel the little bubbling on your skin, but it’s not uncomfortable or anything. The bubbles helps to purify your skin by drawing out the impurities in your skin for a clear complexion.

db3acb07-861a-4f4a-80ff-b9c130e3ae7e (1)

Smooth skin, here i come

HOW TO USE

Apply the mask evenly onto your face while avoiding the eye area, and ensure that your face is covered with a generous layer of product. After a minute, rinse your face and you’ll be all good to go. Remember to not leave it on for too long as it can dry out your face!

The layer of foam is also an indicator – if you don’t really see much bubbles, you might not have applied a thick enough layer.

Bubbly wonderland

AFTER THOUGHTS

After a single use, my skin instantly felt cleaner and slightly brighter. My skin was also smooth to the touch, and there was just a faint hint of roses which disappears pretty quickly. Surprisingly, the mask was not harsh on the skin at all (I was expecting something more powerful to the effects of those deep cleansing masks), and made me feel squeaky clean and more awake to start the day.

While I was at boutique, the makeup artist said that it was okay to use the mask as part of your daily morning routine, so I tried exactly that for one entire week, whether it made me late for work or not (it did not affect my normal arrival schedule at work at all). The best part about this mask was that it is PERFECT for lazy people like me who hate spending too much time on a beauty routine. I only had to wait one quick minute, which I could easily use to brush my teeth or pick out my clothes. Even my kettle takes longer to boil my water for my morning coffee.

Using the mask as part of my daily morning routine did make my skin feel more moisturised, and my face didn’t feel too dry from sitting around in an aircon room all day. That being said, I don’t apply anything to my face after cleansing it at night so this extra boost of hydration could have just been exactly what my skin needed.

WILL I CONTINUE USING IT

Yes. I used to think that bubbles masks were pure novelty, but the foam feels like it actually contributed in prepping my skin for the day. Also, the mask is pretty affordable and you can use it as much as you want without having to ration it out.

Mamonde’s Petal Purifying Bubble Mask, $28, is now available at Mamonde boutiques and counters.

Oh No! This Nail Art Blinks

Beauty trends, especially on Instagram, can really get out of hand, sometimes. Let’s recall squiggly eyebrows, feather brows, phallic-shaped eyeliner, etc. Thank goodness they’re staying in 2017.
Unfortunately, we chanced upon something more chilling in 2018. Behold, nail art that actually blinks! Yikes.

eyeball-nail-art-1514918984

It was created by a nail artist at Russian nail shop Nail Sunny, using Huda Beauty’s Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette for a dramatic eye look.
The whole process of creating the nail art (eye look?) looked extremely technical, requiring brushes, drills, scissors and fingers to create the different parts for a mobile nail art design. Kudos to the nail artist for being so creative and having the patience and skills to execute such a feat.
But the final product just makes us so uncomfortable, partly because the movement looks so real and also because it reminds us of those creepy blinking dolls. In the first place, does anyone even know why they exist?
The blinking nail art design was just the first of many mobile nail designs by the nail shop. They have also designed a twerking one and bobblehead dog as well!
Besides their whacky designs, Nail Sunny does provide regular manicures and designs for clients who just want something more simple.
Check out the Instagram post that documents the entire process that went into creating this amazingly creepy nail art.

Skip The Manicurist And Head To A Tattoo Artist For Nail Art

The recent tattoo trends have leaned towards delicate, detailed and minimalistic with styles like stick-and-poke, geometrics, helix tattoos and water colours, just to name a few.
To our surprise, tattoos aren’t just limited to areas that are covered by skin. Tattoo artists have started tattooing clients’ fingernails! One such tattoo artist is New York-based Jonathan Valena, or JonBoy (@JonBoyTattoo), whose clientele includes Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.

According to JonBoy, nails are harder to ink due to the natural grooves and the harder canvas, thus requiring a lot of precision and concentration for clean lines. So, we highly recommend going to someone who has done nail tattoos before.

We know many of you are wondering if it hurts and we’re relieved to tell you that, apparently, the pain level is equivalent to getting gel nail polish taken off, which means zero pain! Because the needle doesn’t pierce the skin, it will not hit the nerves so it just feels like something scratching on your nail.
However, like all nail art, fingernail tattoos are semi-permanent and would last you around 4 to 6 months.
As your nails grow out, the tattoo will slowly but surely disappear as you trim your nails. Unfortunately, that means there’s also the awkward stage where half of your nail art is still there and the other half has disappeared along with your nail clippings. Not to fret, in the meantime, you can just opt for a manicure and cover it up with some good old fashion nail polish.

We suppose the cost of a nail tattoo depends on the design and the individual tattoo artist, but for something that is still semi-permanent, perhaps just regular nail art from our manicurist would be a more wallet-friendly option. But if you’re looking for something that is more unique and edgy, definitely go ahead and get a nail tattoo!

Brighten Up Stormy Days With Art-Project Prints From The Marimekko x Uniqlo Collection

Just when we thought we could’ve held up our splurge-money for two more weeks before the Uniqlo U SS18 collection launches, Uniqlo just announced yesterday that they’re launching a capsule collection of whimsical dots and freeform flowers that we couldn’t help but sift through. The high-street brand’s no stranger to collaborations — the one with London superstar JW Anderson for SS18 being our most anticipated — but it’s always nice when they team up with off-radar partners, reinvigorating our passion for seasonal staples.
Marimekko is a Finnish design house which holds a similar design ideal to Uniqlo’s: create easy-to-wear clothing that still has a strong personality. Maija Louekari, who helms this collaboration as print designer for Marimekko, has created an entirely new print just for the occasion. Inspired by the shapes and colour of earthly structures, Louekari births an extensive range of dresses, blouses, t-shirts, trousers, bags and sneakers that encapsulate the femininity and protectiveness of the mother nature.

We’re especially drawn to the multicolour maxi-dress painted in pops of blues, pinks and oranges, which’ll go perfectly with the black-and-white dotted tote to match its sneaker compadre. To pre-plan your favourite looks, check out the full collection hereThe Marimekko x Uniqlo collection launches in stores across Singapore and online on 30 March 2018, available only for a limited time.

First Look: David Beckham's Grooming Line Has Everything For You To Always Look Fleek

Of course Becks isn’t into makeup as much as his wife Victoria Beckham is (who has her own collaborations too), but if it’s one thing that he does really well, it’s his dapper style. Have you seen that guy’s beard that he’s been rocking since 2015? It’s on fleek.
A celebrity with his own clothing line is so last year, and we’re not surprised that David Beckham is leading the way by launching his own grooming and skincare line in an unprecedented move.

You can now truly rock the David Beckham look

Let’s just say one thing – men take their hair seriously. And they have good reason to! Your hair can make or break your look. And there’s none other than David Beckham who always looks on point to model yourself after. David’s grooming brand, which is supported by L’Oreal, will consist of men’s grooming products like shaving creams and beard oils, and all the products will contain health-boosting natural ingredients like quinoa and spirulina for their protein-rich actives. The diverse range of products will help steer every guy in the right direction to finding his own signature look. You might not look like Beckham, but you’ll look even better.
The collection is named House 99 not because the soccer star has 99 houses, but because the year 99 was very significant to him. It was the year when David married the love of his life, Posh Spice, to become one of the world’s most iconic celebrity couples ever, had his first son Brooklyn who’s now a rising photographer, and when his Manchester United team won the treble (in English: treble is when a team wins three trophies in a season). The ‘House’ part refers to David’s goal on creating an inclusive community of grooming aficionados, with whom he’ll share personal styling tips and recommendations. Becks has reputedly been personally involved in the entire project, including perfecting the forumla and packaging – so you can be sure that you’re getting top football star treatment in the bathroom.

It just remains to be seen if David Beckham’s line can stir up the hype to rival that of other celebrities brands like Kylie Cosmetics and Fenty Beauty. We for one are definitely are all crossing our fingers under our desks, hoping that Singapore will be one of the 19 countries where House 99 will be launched in.

Stay updated by following House 99 on Instagram and on Facebook to be first to know the latest news.
House 99 will launch exclusively at Harvey Nichols on 1 February, and in 19 countries on March 4. We don’t know if Singapore will be one of the 19 countries as of yet, but we’ll definitely update you when we know.

Explore "Gucci Garden," An Eden Of Beauty, History and Gastronomy

Temperatures may be dipping in Singapore, but the season’s always spring with Gucci.
Just two days ago, the ancient Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence was lit by a single neon lavendar eye, as though to open ours to the magnificent paradise that’s been fabricated inside. Such is the brilliance of creative director Alessandro Michele, who following his some-fifteen-year stint as accessories designer of the luxury fashion house has since birthed a vision so all-encompassing it’s translated seamlessly into memes, fragrances, even a homeware line.

Alessandro Michele

His latest project’s so vast it can’t really fit into one spatial category: a polyamorous marriage among concept store, museum and fine dining, “Gucci Garden” is undoubtedly the freshest art-pornography fashion’s seen in quite a long time.
At first we’d thought too that “Garden” was a clever way to connect the space to the Gucci brand, but in fact Michele had thought otherwise about it: “The garden is real, but it belongs above all to the mind, populated with plants and animals: like the snake, which slips in everywhere, and in a sense, symbolises a perpetual beginning and a perpetual return.” What a poet.
Which is why a strange way, we wouldn’t have been surprised if Michele had singlehandedly transformed the three-storey building, but as is he to do “Gucci Garden” is a history lesson of Gucci, including iconic pieces from even other designers dating back to the brand’s beginnings that sit well with the most current, trendy items collaborators Gucci Ghost and Coco Capitan have been roped in for.
Even fashion-snobs have a reason to check out “Gucci Garden,” but if you probably guessed, the courses reek Gucci. Three-Michelin-star Osteria Francescana chef Massimo Bottura draws inspiration from the Italian experience to satisfy the visitor who’s there just to further saturate her ridiculously glamorous Instagram life.

Celebrate Colour With adidas Originals' Iconic adicolor Collection for SS18

adidas Originals is reviving its most iconic apparel franchise in a quartet of colours, celebrating colour for the new generation. It has been 25 years since the first launched in 1983 but the styles are timeless and symbols of sports and street culture today.
Looking at all adicolor collections since the start, adidas carefully selected 4 colours to spark inspiration for both Men’s and Women’s SS18 collections, and they are stunning. Named Bluebird, Fairway Green, Scarlett Red and Sun Yellow, the primary colours have been present since the 1983 adicolor drop, debuting as colours of felt-tip pens that were provided alongside all-white adicolor shoes and in 2006’s Color Series. In the SS18 collection, the iconic shades are presented in different tones to create the perfect palette for today’s generation.

From the most simple t-shirt to casual tracksuits, all silhouettes in this adicolor collection were curated from the most influential adidas silhouettes of past decades. Although the classic styles are still highly sought after today, the brand wanted to redefine the classic styles for today’s consumers, using innovative fabrics and refined fits for the collection. It also played around with the placement, proportion and size of the logo for a refreshing look.
The campaign exudes a playful and fun spirit that reflects the collection’s message of fun and the joy of poking fun at oneself. It features apparel, designs, characters and objectives in monochromatic wonderlands of the 4 collection colours.

These Tattoos Are Every Minimalist's Aesthetic Goals

Tattoos may be skin-deep, but for some of us, they hold deeper significance. Gone are the days where only the rebellious kids and underdogs of society proudly wore their hearts on their bodies, now its considered cool to have a tattoo. Whether you are getting a tattoo because you think it looks good or it has some significance to you, can we just remind you how important it is to choose a good design and an even better tattoo artist.
That being said, you don’t have to get one of those huge flashy tattoos with intricate detailing because God forbid you’ll be sentenced to a lifetime of wearing long sleeves at work to hide that that tat you spent so long designing. Small and subtle tattoos also pack the same punch as a whole sleeve if you do it right, and they can look edgy or dreamy too! We put together some works from 10 of our favourite minimalistic tattoo artists to inspire you if you’re thinking of getting one (or another one). These neat tats will fit into your modern aesthetic if you’re into everything minimalistic.
