Have A Superga Christmas With Seasonal Shoes… And Bags?!

We’re still in the thick of post-Thanksgiving sales, but new launches from our favourite brands are already on the way. Just last week, CHANEL dazzled us with jewellery from their Cruise 2018 collection and Samsung’s new Gear products have been guilt-tripping us to lose our holiday-mood weight. Very soon, we’ll be clamouring for Superga’s festive sneakers and drawstring bags, perfect to match with our friends during get-togethers for that extra display of unity indicative of the seasonal zeitgeist.

Drawstring bags are lightweight and efficient, great for travel and high-voltage activity. Don’t sacrifice your enjoyment nervous that you’ll lose your phone or cash at ZoukOut — these bags will keep them safe while keeping you looking polished.

Second row: Superga 2750 Macaramé Lace in Pink, White at $129.90 to be launched 22 December

We love Superga for its trusty silhouette and funky up-dos that always seem to go with every outfit. While they make the quintessential back-to-school shoe, we’re definitely wearing this year’s Christmas collection all through the holidays. These months, glitter and embellishments have dethroned the classic white sneaker, and Superga’s take on the trends are spot-on genius.

Superga 2750 Glitter Stripe in Rose Mahogany, Silver, Total Blue at $119.90 to be launched on 15 December

There’re also gateway versions of the glitter sneakers, perfect for those who’re looking for a middle-ground between bombastic and reserved.

superga3
Superga 2750 Lamé Camo in Silver, Gold at $99.90 to be launched 22 December

If you prefer something more unisex, try on these jungle and desert-motif pairs that can give you an edge without overpowering an outfit (unless you’re going full-soldier).

superga1
Superga Panatta in White/Blue, Total White Navy/White $129.90 to be launched on 8 December

Otherwise, stick to these of otherwise basic shades with the Superga insignia, a fresh take on logo-sneakers if others might seem too mainstream.
The Superga Chrismtas Collection launches 1 December 2017 in outlets across Singapore.

Too Faced Finally Unveils Glitter Mask

We’ve been talking about Too Faced’s Glitter Face Mask for a while but didn’t really have any concrete details – besides it being a radiance-boosting glitter face mask that has a NSFW product name. Well, now we’ve also learnt that Glow Job is “infused with real glittering gold”. Like Too Faced’s latest Chocolate Gold collection, which has their eyeshadow palette dripping in gold, we’re excited to learn that even our face masks now include real gold.

As co-founder Jerrod Blandino said:
“I’ve wanted to do a glitter mask for more than 5 years but the science just wasn’t ready. I’m so happy to tell you that Glow Job is almost here! It’s the most amazing radiance boosting and exfoliating peel-off mask I’ve ever used – and it’s infused with REAL glittery gold.”
Glow Job will be released in limited quantities this December, and will be fully released in stores by Spring 2018. A closer look a the product shows that it’s called Pink Tiara, and comes in a glittery pink box that has a slogan that reads: “Give Yourself A Glow Job” – so cheeky, but we’re not expecting anything less from Too Faced.

A post shared by Jerrod Blandino (@jerrodblandino) on

Blandino continues to claim that the peel-off mask will leave you “begging for a selfie”.
To apply the mask, spread the product liberally to your face using the included spatula. Wait for 30 minutes for the mask to dry, and feel free to take lots of glittery Selfies during your wait – next, remove at the edges for “smooth, soft and makeup ready” skin.
We’ll update you again when Too Faced’s Glow Job is available in Singapore.

Here's A Way To Stay Flawlessly Matte In Our Crazy Weather

Once upon a time, global cosmetics brand Max Factor wasn’t always so global – and that’s why we’re super pleased that the same brand that shaped the iconic looks of Hollywood stars will be making their Singapore debut this November.
Max Factor will be debuting a new range of products that lets us stay flawless under swelteringly humid conditions, and of course, we’ll want to use anything that Marilyn Monroe once swore by. For the modern busy woman, you can now rejoice because Max Factor gives you everyday fuss-free glamour. Bringing us back to the days of classic beauty, Max’s products are easy to apply and gives our everyday make-up routine a touch of glamour.

Who is Max Factor and why should we care?

Originally hailing from Russia, founder Max Factor’s humble journey started with his own hair and beauty goods shop in the town of Ryzan, where he sold handmade rouges, creams, fragrances, and wigs. Taking things into his own hands, Max went on to create the first make-up used for film more than a hundred years ago – and along his way, became the make-up artists of many iconic Hollywood stars, like Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, and Judy Garland. He’s also the inventor of many first beauty products – yes, that means products like the first commercially available foundation, the first concealer stick off-shelves, and the first wand mascara.

Since then, Max Factor’s rich history brings Hollywood glamour to not only actresses, but to the everyday woman. Now that Max Factor is in Singapore, we can try their products to stay flawlessly matte!

Face Finity 3-in-1 Foundation

The new range includes highlights like the Face Finity 3-in-1 Foundation and Velvet Matte Lipstick Collection. The foundation has a lightweight consistency but you just know it’ll be able to withstand heat while providing long-lasting matte coverage.

With a blend of primer, concealer and SPF 20 foundation, this beauty product makes your morning make-up routine that much quicker, giving you that extra 5 minutes of snooze time. The foundation comes in 10 wearable shades that are specially curated for Asian skin tones, ranging from Light Ivory to Caramel.

Colour Elixir Matte Lipstick Collection

Lipsticks

The Colour Elixir Matte Lipstick Collection has gorgeous shades of reds, corals and nudes, including a red lipstick called Desire where just one swipe will give you that desired pigmented shade of deep red. Max Factor claims that while most matte lipsticks give you that flaky need-to-lick-your-lips feeling, Max Factor’s are creamy with a velvety soft feel.

We also created a GIF to show you how Max Factor’s Face Finity 3-in-1 Foundation and Colour Elixir Lipstick lets you look your best effortlessly!

What do we think?

Well, the foundation certainly provides good coverage – you can see freckles and blemishes transforming into a flawless, matte surface when blended. It’s also especially effective around the undereye area, if you need to combat dark eye circles and any redness. The lipsticks are very pigmented, and come in wearable shades that can carry you from day to night.

Ladies, These Were Your Favourite Colours in 2017

1_9xnR_UIJ86H6zGcUN1Zdag

We love our fail-proof shades of black, white, and navy-blue. So it’s no surprise that they typically dominate the bestselling colours charts. But besides these perennial favourites, 2017 also saw similarly subdued shades and trusty neutrals, thanks to athleisure taking centre stage. So what colours did you invest in the most this year? Which colours have you embraced and fallen in love with?
Ladies, here are your five favourite shades of 2017:

Midnight Blue

1_61fX9Ob9F2qr96LiMc10NA
Similar: MDSCollections Flap-Over Cami Dress In Midnight, $13.90

Navy-blue may be the go-to shade for many occasions, but have you heard of its more regal sounding counterpart, midnight blue? As a cross between black and blue, this shade is just as versatile, but dreamier and more romantic than corporate.

Slate Grey

1_cd9J4R_Ecteza6k16bSVKA
Similar: ESPRIT Knitted Mini Dress, $35.95

Another perpetual favourite, shades of grey usually make the list. This time, slate grey is among the top five. It’s the perfect canvas for eye-popping accessories or a statement jewel or two.

Cornflower Blue

1_oXyVF3XlLquwhLXJhcBbZA
Similar: Dorothy Perkins Bardot Denim Tencel Dress, $49.90

Denim saw a major revival this year, so it’s no surprise that its sweeter substitute made the list too. Cornflower-blue has the down-to-earth quality of denim, but you can always glam it up with an off-shoulder dress.

Blush Pink

1_532IECgCaIycw88JjVINuw
Similar: ZALORA Collection Wrapped Dress, $29.90

Feminine-chic made its way back as one of the biggest fashion trends this year — which explains the resurgence of popularity in soft, ladylike shades like blush pink and lavender. If this look is too girly for you, you can always toughen it up with a spiked or leather accessory or two.

Beige

1_MMsiGfXJ7C7J1qpQwSRwiw
Similar: ZALORA Collection Lace Up Ruffle Shift Dress, $19.90

You can’t go wrong with neutrals. And what’s a low-key sexy way to show skin without actually revealing skin? Well, here’s your answer.

How To Wear Yellow Eyeshadow Without Looking Too Gaudy

This year has seen quite a fair bit of yellow in eyeshadows palettes like Kat Von D’s Pastel Goth Palette and TooFaced Peanut Butter And Honey Palette. When Fenty’s Killwatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife – a beautiful yellow gold – was released, that just made us realise that yellow is trending. Some people have even taken to using Trophy Wife as an eyeshadow (yes, even Asians), which makes us wonder why everyone is avoiding yellow eyeshadow.
Yellow has always been overlooked when it comes to eyeshadow colours because it is thought to be a difficult shade to work with. To make things even more complicated, Asian skin tones are yellow to begin with. You might think that highlighting our yellow tones might seem a little counter-intuitive, but what if we were to tell you that you can be Asian and still look good in yellow eyeshadow?
Meet L’Oreal Paris’ newest eyeshadow palette, the Limited Edition 24K Gold Palette.

palette numbered

The Limited Editition 24K Gold Palette houses 10 glittery shades, including a bright, bold yellow shade that you’ll only be able to find in luxury eyeshadow palettes. To feel a tad fancier, just know that this is the first drugstore palette to carry a yellow eyeshadow that contains actual 24k gold pigments. Even if you decide that the yellow is too bold, there are still 9 other colours to play around with! The black gold shade (first from the right) has tinges of yellow for a more subdued look. If you don’t know how to go about the yellow eyeshadow look, this palette is a good place to start experimenting with, and it’s also pretty affordable at $29.90.

numbered mono looks

Mono swatches, as numbered

Even though the colours might seem super bright, you’ll find that the eyeshadow goes on sheer. Just look at the mono swatches above! You can easily build on the colour for a more intense finish, or you can go with a sheer finish – something you’ll find hard to do with a super pigmented eyeshadow. We had a little play around with the L’Oreal 24K Gold Palette, and tried out four different ways to rock the yellow eyeshadow look without seeming too gaudy (or looking like you’ve got an eye infection).

FOUR WAYS TO ROCK YELLOW EYESHADOW

1.  Highlight the inner corners of your eyes
loreal more 1 copy2

If you are not so keen on caking on the yellow, try it on subtly by highlighting the inner corners of your eyes. The yellow glimmers help to open up your eyes. Blend it in with a dark brown shade (we used the fifth shade from the L’Oreal 24K Gold Palette) or a black eye shadow. You might think the yellow isn’t really obvious, but the gold shimmer catches the light whenever you turn your head for a subtle pop of colour.

2. Accentuate your eyes

loreal natural NUMBER FKING 6

Don’t be afraid of using yellow as part of your eyeshadow look, even if you have yellow under skin tones. Use the yellow shade by itself as a sheer shimmer, or blend it with other colours. If you are using yellow by itself, line your lashes with a dark brown pencil to define your lash line or put on some mascara to let the yellow eyeshadow take centerstage.

3. Feel the heat by mixing it up with some warm tones

loreal more 7 fuki

Warm tones are currently trending as well, and they surprisingly match quite well with yellow. Here, we mixed a matte orange-y red from the L’Oreal Paris Blossom Tint Caresse (BO6 Rose Blossom) with the yellow shade from the L’Oreal 24K Gold Palette for a super toasty look. Line your bottom lash line to further define your eyes.

4. Shimmery liquid gold eyelids

loreal more 7 fku

Want to impress? Go all out and get those yellow flickers onto your eyelids! Wet the tip of your brush slightly and use it to pack the colour onto your eyelids. Blend out with some deep golden black eyeshadow for a smoky eye look that will turn all those heads. Swipe on some black eyeliner and you’ll be good to go!

And that’s how you rock the yellow shade! With a mix of nude pinks, dark emeralds and even a crystal blue, the Limited Edition 24K Gold Palette is an extension of the existing La Palettes in Beige and Rose. From everyday looks to glamourous nights out, you can easily pop the slim palette into your bag to touch up your face for the transition between the office and the bar.

MIX AND MATCH FOR THE HOTTEST FESTIVE LOOKS

Now that you’ve mastered yellow eyeshadow looks, it’s time to try out the other colours! The palette is super versatile in terms of colour choices, and you can mix and match them for unique, festive looks. Here are a couple of looks to get you started.
eyes festive

Play with colours to bring out your fun side for the festivities!

As if you still needed more bang for your buck – the palette also includes a nose-sculpting shade (the nude shade all the way on the left) that you can use to contour your nose. Because we know that you are simply itching to try these looks for yourselves, we will be giving three lucky readers a chance to win a L’Oreal Limited Edition 24K Gold Palette, and we’ll also throw in an Infallible Gel Crayon in Gold, and 5 L’Oreal Color Riche Lipsticks in Purple Calltime, Crimson en Scène, Coral Véritable, Blush Tendance, and Rouge Defile to complete your look. Head over to our Facebook page to find out how to win a set!
The L’Oreal Limited Edition 24K Gold Palette, $29.90, is available at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa, major supermarkets and selected department stores.

Cop Balenciaga's Triple S Sneakers In An Exclusive Colourway At This Singapore Store

Just weeks ago, it was announced that Balenciaga’s topped Gucci for being the most popular high-end fashion brand in the world. The brand has truly reaped the benefits of social media algorithms with its visually jarring designs, from its bazaar totes all the way to its platform crocs. It takes a truly brilliant label like Balenciaga to transcend even the exclusivity of the fashion system and greet the attention of general public.
Recently, it launched the highly anticipated Triple S Sneakers, launching a behemoth discussion about the state of affairs of fashion and whether designers can still be seen as intellectual creatives or downright jokesters. Particularly because there’d been nearly half a year’s delay in the release of the bad boys, Hypebeasts globally couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair of the ultimate dad shoes.
The sneakers have received a lot of criticism for its doofus appearance and couldn’t wrap their heads around its incredibly expensive retail price of about $1,200. Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga, a genius at deconstructed pieces, created the shoe with increasingly larger soles, thereby giving the bottom of the shoe a three-sizes up bulk while retaining practicality for the wearer and its name, Triple S (or Triple Sole).

balenciaga

Even if you’ve already bagged a pair of them the day they came out, you’re going to want to head to Dover Street Market Singapore on 30 November 2017, 11am to get a pair of these sneakers in an exclusive mustard, navy, black and white colour scheme. This version of the Triple S sneakers will be released in all Dover Street Markets across the world, namely Japan, New York, London and Beijing.

Samsung’s New Gear Products Will Help You Lead a Healthier Life

Walk down the street, and there’s one thing you’ll notice – almost everyone has a smartphone. But that’s no real surprise. Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, enhancing them in ways we couldn’t possibly have imagined 10 years ago (who would’ve thought they’d become mini-computers). And Samsung has played a major role in this technological revolution.
But despite being one of the biggest smartphone makers in the world, the Korean electronics giant also knows how to dish out fantastic fitness wearables. Enter Samsung’s line of Gear fitness products, which were launched last month.

Comprising of the Gear Sport, a chic smartwatch with interchangeable straps; the Gear Fit2 Pro, a GPS-enabled fitness band; and the Gear IconX, wireless earbuds with an embedded running coach, the Gear line is quite obviously fitness-focused. And that means each product is incredibly useful for day-to-day usage, with functions that encourage every aspect of healthy living.

The Gear Sport can track everything from wellness and exercise stats, while the IconX gives you workout updates, so exercise-wise, you’re pretty much set. Add to the mix offline Spotify playlists, and you’ll experience first-hand how gadgets – even without an Internet connection, will make your life that much easier.

Gear Sport

That’s right; the Gear Sport can listen to Spotify offline (which other similar wearables like the Apple Watch can’t do), and you can pair it up with your IconX to just stroll the street, with or without your phone – of course, you’ll need a Spotify premium account to enjoy this feature. Still, it’s something worth investing in, especially since it brings out the best in Samsung’s most advanced smartwatch so far.

That compatibility and versatility is definitely worth spending on, as the Samsung ecosystem is worth migrating to, whether you’re a fitness freak or a music junkie. Plus, the Gear Sport is a pretty stylish timepiece too, with its interchangeable straps, slick rotating bezel, and industrialised metal design, making it a cinch to pair with any outfit.
Oh, and from Nov 20, every purchase of the Gear Sport will allow buyers to receive two free straps – the Brabola Hybrid Orange Strap and Brabola Nato Premium in Navy Blue (worth $96), so there’s no reason why you should miss out!

The World's First LEGO Virtual Reality Roller Coaster has Officially Landed in Legoland Malaysia

Who says Asia is always the last to experience thrilling new experiences or trends?
The Great Lego Race has officially opened at Legoland Malaysia, giving them the honour of being the first in the world to offer a LEGO virtual reality roller coaster. With a mix of VR and an actual roller coaster, this blend of real and virtual is definitely something new at Legoland.
And for all of us in Singapore, this unique experience sits only a few hours’ drive away.

Unleash your inner kid with this ride as you hop on the driver’s seat in a race against a cast of LEGO mini-figures. Strap your VR headsets on, buckle up and off you go! The ride features some popular Lego mini-figures racing against brick-built contraptions driven by Trendsetter, Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, Wizard and Pirate Captain, including a rocket-powered surfboard and a stylish scooter fuelled by espresso. You can preview some of the action below.

Think 3 minutes of thrills and action from every direction – up, down, forward, backwards. The ride is only raised 18 metres above ground but thanks to the virtual reality headsets – you’ll feel like you are zooming 100 miles an hour doing careering wild bends.
The Great LEGO Race will transform the existing "Project X" roller coaster at LEGOLAND Florida Resort into an exciting, high-octane experience that puts kids in the driver's seat and asks, "Are you brave enough to face, race and beat the best of the best in all of LEGO world?" Opening Spring 2018 at LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven, Fla.

What’s more, you have the option to ride The Great LEGO Race with or without the VR headset — but what’s the point of a VR coaster if theres no VR..? To ride the Lego race kids must be above 110cm and at least 4 years old accompanied. And if the kids would like to use the VR headset they must be above 6 years old and 120cm.
So what are you waiting for? The holidays are here — ready, set, LEGO!
The Great LEGO® Race at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort is now open to public. It will also be launched in LEGOLAND® Florida Resort and LEGOLAND® Deutschland Resort in 2018.

We're In Love With The Coco…nut-Scented Mascara

Don’t be fooled by the millennial pink packaging that Maybelline’s latest mascara. It’s not pastel pink-colored mascara, but it come in a close second with a coconut scent. The mascara is your usual black (or brown) colour, just like all the other cult Maybelline mascaras.
We all know that coconut oil is a miracle when it comes to natural beauty solutions. The other variations of coconut oil like coconut butter and coconut water are equally popular, and are used in everything from moisturisers to hair masks and even in foundations. So why not mascaras as well?
tmp_SzkCaF_30ff1b45ec876ee1_MNY_Total_Temptation_Mascara_Blackest_Black

The absolute temptation – a pastel pink mascara tube that smells of coconut!

The all new mascara formula uses coconut butter which results in a light and fluffy mascara formula, according to beauty website PopSugar who managed to get their hands on a tube. Coconut butter is moisturising and a couple swipes of the mascara will have you feeling like you just applied conditioner to your eyelashes. Considering how famed Maybelline’s mascaras are, we aren’t surprised that they thought of infusing coconut butter into our mascaras to get those lovely, long lashes. At the recent Spring 2018 New York Fashion week, makeup artists who managed to get their hands on the lab samples of the coconut-infused mascara were loving it as well – and if it’s got their stamp of approval, it can’t be that bad!
Screen Shot 2017-11-24 at 17.24.21

Buildable volume, according to Maybelline

Aptly named the Total Temptation Mascara, we’re pretty sure that you’ll be tempted by the soothing aromas even if the packaging didn’t work. According to PopSugar, the mascara smells like coconut butter instead of the sharp coconut-y smell that you get when you drink straight out of a coconut.
Plus it is pretty affordable, with a price point of US$7.99. While you can get it now online at Amazon, the Total Temptation Mascara will hit stores in January 2018 – but we can’t say it will reach our shores! Making up the rest of the Total Temptation is a Brow Definer Eyebrow Pencil and an Eyeshadow & Highlight Palette that come in the same millennial pink packaging, but without the coconut extract. Super tempting huh.
The Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara in Blackest Black, Brownish Black, and Very Black is now available online at Amazon, and will (hopefully) hit our drugstores along with the rest of the world on January 2018

A Comprehensive Roundup Of Glitter Eyeshadow Palettes

It’s that time of the year again – party season is here! Not that we ever really need an excuse to get all dolled up, but Christmas and New Year’s are key times of the year when wearing glitter every day becomes standard practice. Out there with a classic smoky cat eye and a statement matte red lip, nothing says “I’m ready to party” like an artfully glittered eye.

So to help you nail your best party looks, we’ve rounded up the best glitter eye-shadow palettes no beauty journo, blogger of make-up junkie should be without.
In other words, you might need a bigger beauty bag, because you’ll want them ALL.
Oh, and since most times glitter makeup is only limited edition and not available forever… you might wanna hurry up and add these sparkly babies to your life while you still can.

kvd

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette
$90, available at Sephora
This new, limited edition palette curated specially for the holiday season, features some of the most vibrant hues we’ve ever seen: 24 eyeshadows split into two families – Saint (“wearable, romantic” hues) and Sinner (“bold color pops”) – to mimic the look of stained glass windows. These gothic, romantic, moody shades are just what you need to set the tone for your fall/winter eye looks. Perfect.

fenty beauty

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette
$82, available at Sephora
Fourteen hyper-metallic shades that only get more saturated when you wet your brush slightly before application. Colours range from colourful (Cosmic Ocean, a sheer aqua glitter shade) to (glittery) neutrals you can easily wear every day (Light Year, a smoky charcoal with gold glitter). Wear alone for a sheer shine or layer up for a true glitter punch.
For easier application of the colours, use the accompanying dual-ended brush that was designed to work smoothly with the endless glitter in the Galaxy palette.

urban decay

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette
$88, available at Urban Decay stores and Sephora
The cosmetics giant dropped its first-ever metallic-only eye shadow palette back in October and damn, it looks so beautiful in all it’s shimmery glory. One major difference for this palette would be the placement of the mirror – flip open the cover, and you’ll notice it’s situated between two sets of eye-shadow (there are 20 shades in total). On one side, you have the bolder shades of the bunch, like a violet called Metalhead and a peacock teal called Amp, and on the other side – the more neutral leaning shadows.
One major aspect that sets these shadows apart from the Naked palettes, though, is the formula. According to Urban Decay’s co-founder Wende Zomnir, these new shadows are “the creamiest, most amazing, shiny metallics we’ve ever created.” Ugh, sounds dreamy doesn’t it?

glitter

Too Faced Glitter Bomb Eyeshadow Palette
$68, available at Sephora
Dropped in stores back in June, this ten-shade glitter bomb is definitely “glitter goals”. Unlike your old-school glittery eye shadow, these shimmery pans have a modern formula that glistens under light but won’t leave flecks of hard-to-remove fall out behind. Instead, the colours are rich in pigment and wear on the skin like shimmering velvet. In addition to eight glittery shadows to experiment with individually, the palette also comes with intensifying and brightening base shades that allow you to control the vibrancy of your look. In essence, all your glitter-loving needs in one playful palette!

cp

ColourPop Golden State Of Mind Shadow Palette
US$26, available at colourpop.com
Another limited edition palette, this beauty comes with 15 pressed eyeshadows inside it’s sleek case. And while this maybe the cheapest amongst the lot here, these colours sure look promising upon first glance. The colour scheme, true to its name, features warm golds, bronzes, and burgundies — as well as glistening pans of pink and beige. Each shade features the same, glitter-metallic finish that goes on as an iridescent sparkle party on your lids. Major heart eyes.
The palette retails for $26, which is a little pricier than what you may be used to shopping from ColourPop — but keep in mind that this palette is also way more extensive than their quads. Use it to upgrade all your smoky eye looks this season — or wear it alone if you’re in the mood for something shiny.

Have A Cosy Christmas Dinner At Home With White Rose Café

The Christmas crowds are the worse of all crowds (or at least, are on par with the serious discount shoppers of the Chinese New Year aftermath). People stream through the Orchard underpass for last minute gifts, restaurants are all fully booked out, and you just want to tear your hair out because you’re moving at a snail’s pace.
Well, there’s no need to stress this Christmas with York Hotel Singapore’s White Rose Café. From 1 to 31 Dec, you can enjoy White Rose Café’s Christmas takeaway specialties – and yes, this includes your traditional roasts and hearty sides.

White Rose Cafe’s bringing you Christmas takeaway specialities for a Christmas dinner at home.

Meet Star Wars’ Kelly Marie Tran and More at Apple’s Orchard Road Store

When Apple’s Orchard Road store opened earlier this year, it promised to be more than just a mere retail store. So far, that promise has been kept. Photography talks, design discussions, and coding lessons have been conducted since then, and this week is no different, with a slew of exciting activities planned out for Apple fans.
For instance, there will be an exclusive talk held by Kelly Marie Tran of Star Wars fame on Nov 26 from 1pm to 2pm. The budding actress, who plays a maintenance worker in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will share her inspirational journey with Buro 24/7’s Norman Tan, with a Q&A session open to the floor right after.

On Nov 25 from 3pm to 4pm, local filmmakers Boo Junfeng and Kirsten Tan will talk about their respective journeys as part of the Singapore International Film Festival, and what the future holds for Singapore’s cinema. There’ll also be a Q&A session after the discussion, so it’s a good opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to get a tip or two.

Lastly, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Urban Sketchers – a global community of artists that practice drawing on location in cities where they live, artist Don Low will take participants on a walk through Orchard Road, where he’ll show you his favourite techniques on an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. This will happen on Nov 30 from 4pm to 6pm.

So whichever session you choose to go for, you’re pretty much spoilt for choice when it comes to Apple’s Orchard Road store. And who knows, you may very well soon have a new permanent hangout spot to chill, learn, and have fun with friends.

5 Reasons to Binge Watch Vikings Season 5

Historical TV is all the rage these days, or at least shows that are set in a historical/fantasy setting are. Just look at Game of Thrones. We don’t see spaceships flying around in Westeros, yet it’s one of the greatest shows of all time. We put that level of popularity down to the raw, grittiness that comes in a world lacking technology, and how it subtly appeals to our primitive senses.

Well, A+E’s Vikings is no different. Back for its 5th season on Nov 30, 2017, the HISTORY Channel’s successful historical drama series returns with more violence, vengeance, and travails than ever before. In other words, it’s definitely a show not to be missed. And here are 5 solid reasons why you should be binge-watching its 5th season:
1) Rollo and Floki will return
13495306_885858514852357_6138233796817246163_n

Fans of Rollo and Floki will be pleased to know that both characters will be back in season 5. Rollo returns after his Mediterranean mission, while Floki faces the challenges of a new life by committing himself to the gods.
2) There’s the arrival of Heahmund
Bishop Heahmund, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, ended last season on a cliffhanger, so it would be interesting to see how he threatens the Vikings, especially since warrior bishops were very real in the past.
3) Look forward to more violence

No historical TV series is complete without a copious amount of gore, guts, and glory, and Vikings season 5 will have that in abundance, in particular the region of Kattegat – a trading station that everyone wants to get their hands on.
4) Family drama gets real
Last season, we saw Ivar killing his brother. But for this season’s sneak peek, we caught him actually weeping during the funeral. What does this mean for the family? Will the mystery as to why Ivar killed his own brother finally be solved?
5) Ragnar’s dream might finally be fulfilled

Even though Ragnar is gone, his presence is still pretty much felt. And that translates to his dream as well, which is to conquer new lands. Key to that are his sons Bjorn and Ubbe, both of whom might finally fulfill his wishes in season 5.

Saint Laurent & Colette Are Bringing In Skateboards, Vespas, Chocolates And Other Sexy Treats

If you’re in Paris anywhere from 27 November to 20 December, you need to check out Saint Laurent’s pop up sectional at Colette. Although the multi high-end label store announced that it’s closing shop on 20 December earlier this year, its name has continued to reverberate through our minds with its series of designer link-ups like with Thom Browne, Maison Kitsuné and Chanel x Pharrell x Adidas. In tandem with this creative vision, Colette has teamed up with Saint Laurent for a capsule collection that’s launching to mark the resolution to over a decade of its French legacy.

Running the machine of Yves Saint Laurent is newly-appointed designer Anthony Vaccarello, who in the last few seasons epitomised the glamour and sensuality of a woman’s body. This time around, he’s bridging the YSL sensibility with the needs of the Colette customer with an arsenal of ready-to-wear pieces as well as killer accessories. Incorporating the expertise of other incredible artists, the collaboration includes keychains, a headphones, a helmet, a polaroid camera, skateboards, a vespa, chocolates, lighters — just to name a few. But don’t worry, every piece is co-signed by Vaccarello himself, so you know you’re getting same stamp of approval that passed the huge fur poofs and slouchy leather boots we’re addicted to.

Zero Latency is Suntec City’s Latest VR Arcade That You NEED to Play with Friends

Have you ever wanted to enter another dimension? Or even better, have you ever wanted to enter another dimension with friends? Well, you now can. Sort of, anyway. Located inside Suntec City is Zero Latency, a brand new virtual reality (VR) social gaming space that immerses you in a completely different world, or should we say, a completely different reality.

Brought to you by Tomorrow Entertainment – the team behind the BOUNCE trampoline park, Zero Latency combines a free-roaming multi-player format with VR – think of it as a being in a LAN shop (complete with your friends shouting and everything), only that you are in the game, and so is everyone else.

Ready to roll

We at NYLON had the privilege of trying out some of the games, of which there are three to choose from, with the results veering from mind-bending to catastrophically hilarious. For instance, in the game Engineerium (15 minutes), you and your friends are thrown into a topsy-turvy, psychedelic mishmash of an alien world with floating tribal platforms.
And while that may sound a little confusing on paper, it was truly a feast for the senses. The puzzles were captivating. You had to walk up and down, and even sidewards and upside down in some instances. We had more than our fair share of screams and laughter, especially when things got a little disorienting (don’t worry, you won’t puke or anything).

We were all probably “lost” in our heads already

The other game, Zombie Survival (15 minutes) let us exercise our marksman skills, giving us the chance to shoot down hordes of zombies from every corner. It was extremely fun, although we were a little let down by the lack of objectives – for example, we could just stand where we wanted. We didn’t need to collect flags or cover our teammate’s bases, so it could have been more co-op friendly.

And here’s your VR gear

Alas, we did not try Singularity (30 minutes) due to a lack of time. That’s the game that apparently combines both the “movement” aspect from Engineerium and the “shooting” aspect from Zombie Survival. But if anything was to go by from our experience with the previous two games, we can say with certainty that you’ll be in for a blast with Singularity.

Right now, Zero Latency comes with three different types of packages. Each ticket consists of 15 minutes of detailed gameplay briefing, 30 minutes of hyper-immersive VR gameplay, and a debriefing session at the lounge. The launch price for each game is $59, but that will be bumped up to $69 eventually. Each session can accommodate up to 8 players (the more, the merrier).
If you’d like to try Zero Latency out, you can register your interest at the company’s website, before everything gets booked out on Nov 24. Or, you can head over to our Facebook page, where we’re giving away three pairs of passes for three lucky winners. Either way, you’ll have a gaming experience like you’ve never had before.
