The Force Is Strong With Cargo Cosmetics' New Makeup Collection

People, we are merely WEEKS away from the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and we’re literally foaming at the mouth (okay, not literally) waiting for the latest instalment of this epic film franchise to finally arrive. If 16 December still feels like a galaxy far, far, away though, you can get your hands on the exclusive Star Wars-inspired makeup collection from Cargo Cosmetics, which has officially landed on the brand’s website, just in time for the festive season.

star wars x cc
(L-R): Cargo X Star Wars 8 Well Eye Shadow Palette (The Dark Side),
Cargo X Star Wars 8 Well Eye Shadow Palette (The Light Side); US$28 each

star wars x cc (1)
(L-R): Cargo X Star Wars The First Order Mascara (Volumizing),
Cargo X Star Wars The Resistance Mascara (Lengthening); US$20 each

Similar to most movie tie-ins, this limited edition, 8-piece makeup collection features collectible items to please fans of the film and beauty junkies. There are two gorgeous makeup palettes, both featuring 8 shades of eyeshadows each so you can channel your light or dark side, as well as two different versions of galactic mascara – one for lengthening those lashes, and one to amp up the volume.

star wars x cc (2)
(L-R): Cargo X Star Wars Collectible Mirror – Rey, General Leia Organa, Captain Phasma, BB-8; US$28 each

We gotta admit, though – what’s better than the eyeshadow palettes and glossy black mascaras has got to be the mirror compacts in the range. Each collectible mirror is emblazoned with a custom illustrations of 3 badass female characters from the film: Rey, General Leia Organa, and Captain Phasma. Let’s not forget the extremely lovable BB-8, too. That’ll definitely be the first to sell out.

Cargo Cosmetics x Star Wars 8 collection, US$20 – US$28. Available now at Cargocosmetics.com.

NYLON Team Picks: Our Ultimate Tiffany and Co. Wish List This Year

Imagine waking up to the aroma of crackling bacon and looking out at your window, frosted after a cool night’s rain. Your significant other has prepared for you breakfast-in-bed, and you’re about a spend an entire day lounging in and appreciating each other’s company. Or, you could receive something from Tiffany and Co. — we sincerely can’t picture one scenario being more romantic than the other. Tiffany and Co. has always resonated with us for its ageless jewellery, but this year’s launches especially have us spoilt for choice. From homeware and fragrance to its incredibly modern HardWear collection, Tiffany and Co. has outdone itself by inventing a universe of products we can’t wait to lay our hands on.

Tiffany HardWear Ball Bracelet, $2150

This cuff is exactly my style — it’s simple, classic and in yellow gold. A piece that I’d wear forever and then pass down to my daughters. Looks like I have to buy two.

Tiffany T square bracelet in black-coated steel medium, $1650

As the imaginary voice in my head that decides how I should dress up for the day always says, “black is the new black, and nothing will ever replace that”. That’s the logic behind my Tiffany pick. I’m not really an accessories kind of dude (well, maybe except for caps), so when I pick one it has to be outstanding, The Tiffany T Square Bracelet does the trick for me. It’s sleek, it’s slick, and it’s black. And I do like the whole infinity circle thing going on. Gives me a sort of a galactic comic book vibe that I can rock with an outfit.

Elsa Peretti Teardrop hoop earrings in sterling silver, $730

When it comes to jewellery, I have a penchant for sleek minimal designs in a silver finish, which is why I’ve worn a pair of simple hoop earrings for aeons now. So when I laid eyes on these Teardrop Earrings from the Elsa Peretti collection, I immediately wanted them. With the shining bead of raindrop that’s reminiscent of morning dew, they’re definitely a sculptural upgrade from my daily accessories. Yup, I’m just sat here going through outfits in my mind, and I already know they’d elevate every look in an instant.

Elsa Peretti faceted cuff in sterling silver medium, $1900

This faceted sterling silver cuff by Tiffany’s jewellery designer Elsa Peretti goes with everything I wear – I’m usually in something nondescript, and the cuff helps add a tiny bit of sparkle to my outfit. Plus, the sculpted metal is so refined that I feel like I’m wearing a piece of art.

Tiffany HardWear wrap bracelet in gold 18k, $10600

Even though it’s a bracelet, I love how it can double up as a choker – my favourite kind of necklace! It’s a versatile piece that would still look great on whether I dress up or dress down. For a casual look I’d pair the choker necklace with a white tee and a pair of mom jeans and this instantly elevates the casual outfit. For a more formal look, I’d wear it with either a white button up shirt or a high neck long sleeved top and there you go, you get that sophisticated yet edgy vibe. I’m getting excited thinking of various ways I can style the bracelet-turned- necklace, I’m definitely adding this into my Christmas wish list!

Card case in Tiffany Blue smooth calfskin leather, $285

I’m guilty of stashing my bulky wallet with old receipts and really random stuff, so finding my cards or cash has always been a hassle. To get myself more organised in the coming year, getting myself a cardholder to store the two most important cards I need: Ez-link and ATM card, would make travelling around more practical and convenient. And because I want to look super fab each time I tap my card on the bus/train, this chic and super cute Tiffany and Co. cardholder in classic Tiffany Blue will do just the trick.

Atlas 2-Hand 37.5mm watch in stainless steel, $3950

When thinking about style I always look to what Coco Chanel once famously said: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.” In my opinion, simplicity is underrated. Whenever I can, I enjoy sticking to understated ways of expressing myself, the exact line of thought that led me to eye the Atlas 2-Hand 37.5mm watch. The watch exemplifies Tiffany and Co.’s approach to design, which is no-fuss elegance. Featuring a black-and-white exterior made with stainless steel and leather, this is the kind of watch I’d love to wear when signing important business contracts and as I whip out my credit card to pay for date-night dinners.

McDonald’s is Making Breakfast Great Again with Hotcakes & Crispy Chicken Tenders

Fast food restaurants are locked in a fierce battle for your stomach’s approval. KFC recently unveiled the Red Hot Szechuan Chicken, while McDonald’s is on a roll too, having recently launched the Japanese-inspired combo of the Ninja and Samurai Burger. This time, however, McDonald’s is going all-out for breakfast lovers.
Introducing the new Hotcakes with Chicken Selects Extra Value Meal – a decadent breakfast platter that consists of McDonald’s signature Hotcakes, along with three pieces of tender and crispy breaded Chicken Selects, in a marriage that is both divine and absolutely horrendous for your waistline.

Hotcakes with Chicken Selects™ Extra Value Meal

McDonald’s customers can now enjoy the Hotcakes with Chicken Selects a la carte meal from $6.55 onwards, or as an Extra Value Meal, topped up with a side of Hashbrown and a cup of Premium Roast Coffee from $8.30 onwards. You can also get a free Iced Milo (S) with any purchase of Hotcakes with Chicken Selects Breakfast Extra Value Meal or Breakfast Deluxe Extra Value Meal.

7 Retro Gadgets That Made Popular Comebacks in 2017

Before we had stuff like facial recognition or virtual reality, our lives were pretty simple in terms of technology. Okay, not “simple, simple” – there were horrid things to deal with like dial-up Internet. Still, gadgets back then weren’t complex, and they gave us years of joy till the inevitable death knell of modern technology came calling.
If you haven’t quite recovered from the passage of time (and the fact your favourite gadgets continually get replaced), we’ve got good news for all of you: old school devices have been making massive comebacks in 2017, and that trend doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon. Here are 7 of the most nostalgic revivals:
Nokia 3310

Large-3310-3G-Marketing-Image-DSIM

Never in the history of mankind has a phone gotten so much respect for its durability. Superlatives like “indestructible” and “robust” have been showered on the 3310, with a flurry of viral memes confirming its popularity. And now it’s back in business after years of flimsy phones – better late than never, eh?
Nokia 3310, $99, available via authorised retailers.
Tamagotchi
tamagotchi-1

When the Tamagotchi first launched in 1997, little did people know that it would transform them into zombified owners of a virtual pet. Fast-forward 20 years, and the egg-shaped, handheld gadget has returned to enslave once again, with cute pets that only eat, sleep, and go for dumps. It’s been fun, but say goodbye to your social life.
Tamagotchi, $39, available via Amazon Japan.
Polaroid OneStep 2
polaroid_onestep21

Polaroid perishing was like a dagger in the heart of all photography lovers. Thankfully, a startup called the Impossible Project has restarted film production for Polaroid-compatible cameras, taking on the great Polaroid name, and coming up with the OneStep 2 – a modern revamp of Polaroid’s classic OneStep Land Camera 1000.
OneStep 2 i-Type Camera, US$99, available via us.polaroidoriginals.com.
Samsung Galaxy Folder 2
samsung_flip_phone

Remember when flip phones were rad? Yeah, we do too (that RAZR craze was real). So it’s been a long time coming, but at least we can now enjoy a worthy successor with the Galaxy Folder 2. It’s not exactly a comeback product per se, but who cares? It’s slick, and brings us back to the early 2000’s almost like how Backstreet Boys can. What’s there not to love?
Samsung Galaxy Folder 2, $260, available via qoo10.sg (only Gold model).
Super NES Classic Mini

What was the hottest gaming console of 2017? Not the PS4 or Xbox for sure. It was the Super NES Classic Mini, a modern day version of the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System, which sold like hotcakes after its release. Miniature-sized and packed to the brim with 21 retro 8-bit games, the Super NES Classic Mini has that whole ‘Stranger Things’ vibe going on, and will bump up your street cred in a heartbeat.
Super NES Classic Mini, $169, available via lazada.sg.
Kodak Ektra
EKTRA-Android-1-282x501

Like with other film camera brands, it was devastating to see Kodak bite the dust. But it’s good to see them rise from the ashes once again with the Kodak Ektra – a smartphone that’s specially designed for photographers, and comes equipped with a rear 21-megapixel camera, as well as a DSLR-styled dial that allows you to toy with manual functions.
Kodak Ektra, $829, available via lazada.sg.
Blackberry KEYone
17021548_10154262649390848_8384152723579017618_n-1

What with all the iPhone’s and Samsung’s, it’s no surprise that Blackberry has been forgotten – till now, that is. If you miss the company’s famed keypad, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s back once again and in full force on the KEYone – a touchscreen phone that comes with the same physical keys of those old Blackberry models.
Blackberry KEYone, $770, available via shopee.sg.

Are YSL Beauté’s New Lipsticks As Rebellious As They’re Making It Out To Be?

No promises that this is the perfect lipstick – since like every other beauty brand out there, it supposedly has “a shade for everyone”. But it looks like it comes pretty darn close. Yves Saint Laurent Beauté’s TATOUAGE COUTURE is a lipstick line that brings us 24 matte shades that claim to be highly pigmented but “in a really thin veil”. That’s honestly what we’re looking for in a lipstick: pigmented colours that let us feel like we’re not wearing anything.

YSL

Each lipstick comes in a frosted bottle that’s looking pretty sleek. The 24 shades all strictly stick to variations of red and pink hues, but there are a few colours that will help when creating a statement rebellious look.
Untitled design (76)
From Left to Right: Unconventional Coral, Violet Conviction, Nu Interdit, Rose Illicite.

Unconventional Coral (No. 17) brings a bright pop of coral while Violet Conviction (No. 15) is a moody shade of purple. The more conventional tones include Nu Interdit (No. 7), which is a nudish pink, and Rose Illicite (No. 11), a shade of faint pink.
This is the first YSL Beauté campaign that features Zoë Kravitz as the Global Makeup Ambassador. They’re really taking this tattoo allegory seriously – she’s shown to have phrases like “Forget the rules” and “Matte is the only code” scrawled across her skin. While we appreciate the whole “bad girl” vibe of the product, please remember that buying this won’t immediately transform us into the rebel-cool girl you’ve always wanted to be.

YSL Beauté’s new lipsticks aren’t quite for the rebellious, but with 24 shades for you to choose from – how could you not fall in love with at least one colour? Each TATOUAGE COUTURE lipstick is priced at $55 and you can pick them up at all YSL Beauté’s stores. 6 exclusive e-commerce new shades will also be coming soon.

We Dare You To Sit Through "A Quiet Place" Without Screaming

It’s been nearly a month since Halloween, but there’s never a better time to watch horror movies. Many argue whether a good horror movie needs a great storyline to thrive, especially with all the box office hits nowadays that bank on jump scares and gratuitous violence. But the latest trailer for “A Quiet Place” seems to promise a combination of both, leaving us quivering with excitement.

In the trailer that just came out, Hollywood couple John Krasinski (“The Office”) and Emily Blunt (“Girl on the Train,” “The Huntsman”) star as parents who live in a somewhat abandoned countryside with their two kids. They’ve adopted a pretty peculiar lifestyle of existing in dead silence, communicating with sign language and even sound-proofing their apartment with cement steps and knit mats. It’s soon evident that there’s some sort of presence hovering over them that’s trying to “hunt” them through its acute sense of hearing (no, it’s not pesky neighbours), and their goal is to stay as quiet as possible to survive (we’re sure they have a good explanation as to why they can’t just leave).
We love a good up-do of the horror genre, from creepy Japanese girls to found-footage to good-dolls-gone-bad. With “A Quiet Place” following in succession of similar flicks like “Hush” and “Don’t Breathe,” we’re hoping it makes us hold our breaths with anticipation.
And we’re not saying there’s going to be a fireball of romance happening (since everyone’s gotta be mum the whole time), but with Krasinki doubling up as the movie’s director, the onscreen chemistry between the celebrity duo can only be, at least, overwhelming.
“A Quiet Place” hits cinemas 6 April 2018.

Stay Gold This Season with Too Faced's New Chocolate Gold Bar Palette

When beauty vlogger Jackie Aina initially spilled the beans on Too Faced’s upcoming Chocolate Gold Bar eyeshadow palette back in August, we couldn’t wait to get more details on when this insanely glamorous palette would be available. You better add this beauty to your holiday wish list, because it’s launching in early December — just in time to make it into your stocking come Christmas morning.

The eyeshadow palette is dripping in gold, in what is possibly the most decadent packaging we have ever seen. And don’t even get us started about the insanely beautiful shades that’s wrapped up inside.

The palette features 12 shimmer shades and four matte shades in a gorgeous array of luxurious hues. A recent post by the brand’s co-founder Jerrod Blandino, also revealed these shadows are infused with real gold. Your holiday makeup is about to be glitzier than ever. Just imagine that golden shade all over your lids. When someone asks what it is, you can say it’s gold — real gold.
Best of all, there are some unusual shades in here as well, and we love that Jerrod isn’t afraid to include unique new colours to the mix. Think deep plums and bold fuchsias for a pop of colour; rich golds and brown hues — loaded with actual gold flecks, and even some greens too!

Yes, feel free to get as excited as you want.

Can’t wait to bag this beauty? Us too. Unfortunately, the Singapore launch has yet to be announced, but THANKFULLY you can still purchase it online before the holidays via ulta.com on December 3.

Watch this space for updates on the Singapore launch — fingers crossed that it will make it in time for Christmas here too :’)

7-Eleven Now Has Their Own Makeup Brand

Like 7-Eleven’s slurpees, instant whipped potatoes, and ready-made meals, this new cosmetic line would have made our lives so much easier (and enjoyable). Except…our Singapore 7-Eleven stores won’t be carrying 7-Eleven’s new makeup collection.
There are times when you’re out and you definitely need an affordable beauty product to save you. What if it poured and your supposedly waterproof mascara’s dripping down your face? You don’t want to splurge on that cult-favourite mascara: you just want an easy fix for a couple of bucks.
That’s when 7-Eleven’s new Simply Me Beauty collection would come in handy.

Simple Me Beauty has wide array of beauty products.

Created with millennials in mind, the collection is targeted to the woman always on the go. There will be an assortment of 40 items, with each item priced between USD3 to USD5. From the images, it looks like there’s everything from BB Cream to Dramatic Faux Lashes. The range even includes wipes, nail polish remover, and concealers – just in case there’s an emergency beauty situation you need to handle immediately.
group2facefront
Face palettes and concealers in varying shades.

While the shades and colours seem limited and may struggle to suit women of all skin tones (it ain’t no Fenty), we have to admit that it’s quite decent at its affordable prices. The collection’s already started rolling out to some 7-Eleven stores in the US, and will soon be available exclusively at all their 7-Eleven stores. We reached out to 7-Eleven Singapore’s PR team and they said: “We currently have no plans to bring in the makeup collection to Singapore”.
group4lipsfront
Lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip crayons.

Well, we’ll keep you updated on any news from our local 7-Eleven stores and meanwhile, you can always try the drugstore brands that’s on their shelves – slightly pricier but still just as convenient.

I was invited by my friend, Madeleine Ho to sell items in my wardrobe for a good cause. These items are now listed on Style Tribute, and if you enter the code “FRIENDSHIPSCHOOL” when you checkout, Style Tribute will donate 10% of their commission to Friendship School in Laos (This is a school for kids who have little or no access to education or healthcare.) These pieces from my wardrobe are all items that I love, but can’t wear anymore (because I’ve grown after two kids), or don’t wear often enough. Everything is in good condition, 100% authentic, and I’d like to consider them investment pieces or wardrobe staples.

Charles Manson's Killings Inspired These Cult TV Shows/Movies

On Sunday, Charles Manson, the 83 year-old resident of the California Department of Corrections, or more notoriously the instigator of seven murders, died of natural causes. It’s been almost 50 years since he’s led his “Manson Family” to bid his serial killing, but the story of his actions have lived on through the narratives of urban legends and campfire tales. The voyeuristic adrenaline that comes from reliving other people’s tragedies has been a motivating factor of the rising success of online shows like Buzzfeed Unsolved and Murder With Friends. Even more than that, they’ve contributed to the inspiration for many filmmakers’ work, either as literal iterations or embedded symbolism.

Helter Skelter, 2004

Helter Skelter, the 2004 horror movie

The popular The Beatles’ song was co-opted by Charles Manson when describing his philosophy to his followers. Manson, who incidentally wanted to become a rockstar, saw The Beatles’ album The White Album as an anthem for a race war between racist and non-racist white Americans. Thinking that this was a big-enough distraction for he and his followers’ escape, he used “Helter Skelter” as the term to describe their mission, which fittingly became the title of a tell-all, subtitled “The True Story of the Manson Murders,” which later on was adapted into a horror movie.

American Horror Story: Cult, 2017

We were super hyped up for latest instalment of our favourite horror anthology TV series after finding out it had been based off the 2016 American elections, and even more stoked when Ryan Murphy had announced that the cult which the season revolved around was directly referencing Charles Manson and his family of followers. Dealing with fear and phobias, the show perfectly encapsulated Manson’s ability to epitomise someone’s fear into their primal motivation to do evil. Emulating the man himself as Kai Anderson, Evan Peters convincingly pulls together a team of disenfranchised townspeople to subvert progress and torment the long-suffering Ally Mayfair-Richards played by Sarah Paulson.

“Untitled Manson Family Project,” 2018

Quentin Tarantino, Charles Manson

If you were wondering whether Manson’s legacy has the potential to surpass his life, Quentin Tarantino, mastermind behind great films like Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds, is already on it. Set in 1969, the movie will focus on two aspiring Hollywood actors who’re living in an era of Manson having orchestrated the killings of seven people. A-list names Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio and Margot Robbie are currently being tossed around as potential candidates to star in the movie. With the sexual nature of the Manson Family and Tarantino’s professional ties to Harvey Weinstein, we’re expecting improprieties to be discussed at some point during the film.

Are You Naughty Or Nice With Kylie Jenner’s New Holiday Collection?

Let’s ignore the rumours of Kylie Jenner’s unconfirmed pregnancy to focus on what’s important: Kylie Cosmetics will be launching their new Holiday Collection at 3pm, 22 Nov (Pacific Standard Time). That translates to an early 7am on 23 Nov for us – let’s see if it’s worth getting up earlier in the wee hours of the morning (OK, it’s not that early but every hour of sleep counts) to stake out Kylie Cosmetics’ online site.

The Naughty Palette #Holiday2017

There will be two new eyeshadow palettes, called “Naughty” and “Nice”. Both have fourteen shades and their names are cutely themed. You’ll find colours like Unwrap Me – a crimson red, Hot Toddy – a sparkly brown, and Mischief – a metallic sparkly grey, in the Naughty palette.

As expected, the Nice palette has comforting colours like Ginger Snap – a light brown, Lullaby – a warm nude, and Hot Cider – a dark chocolate.

we can’t wait for the Naughty & Nice Palettes to launch next Wednesday …. 👀🎅🏼

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

Kylie’s massive Instagram following’s already all over this, with fans speculating if they’re more “naughty” or “nice”. While the Nice palette seems more wearable, with light neutral shades, it does also seem that the palettes have overlapping tones. Hmm, doesn’t Glazed in Nice look a lot like “Slay” in Naughty? Nonetheless, both have a good selection of matte shades, shimmers, and glitters to play with.
But wait, there’s more: she’s also posted images of The Spice Set, a collection of five lip-glosses in festive shades of red.

Like every other major Kylie Cosmetics’ launch, the Holiday Collection is guaranteed to be an instant sell out. Don’t worry too much if you can’t quite click to your shopping cart fast enough, Kylie’s noted that Kylie Cosmetics will also be dropping an entire new collection in December.

Tippling Club Launches An Edible Cocktail Menu Made Up Of Gummy Bears

This is the world’s first edible cocktail menu, and it’s made up of 12 different gummy bears served in a candy bag. We don’t expect any less from Tippling Club. They’ve toyed with our senses previously with their Sensorium Menu, where diners were invited to sniff relatable scents to suss out their preferred cocktail.

Menu
Tippling Club’s new Dreams and Desires Menu.

But this takes the drinking experience to a whole ‘nother level. The gummy bears are presented in a retro candy shop bag that comes smelling like an English confectionary store. We’re already sold because really, where else can you get a drinks menu that lets you experiment with 12 different gummy bears?
Dreams & Desires Menu 1_2
All 12 gummy bears in a row.

The menu takes upon the theme of Dreams and Desires, and features 12 new cocktails that represent our everyday ambitions. Lots of hard work and effort have gone into crafting these 12 new cocktails and 12 gummy bears – Tippling Club’s Head Bartender Joe Schofield explained it took months of research before narrowing it to “12 perfected flavour formulas that we felt best represent the dreams and desires we wanted to convey”. Since Joe Schofield joined in 2016, Tippling Club has joined the highly acclaimed list of the World’s 50 Best Bars in 2017.
Happiness; Peace_3
From Left to Right: Happiness, Happiness Gummy Bear; Peace, Peace Gummy Bear.

When you get cocktails with names like Happiness – a honeyed drink that has elements of yuzu, lemon, orange and is spiked with tequila, or Peace – a soothing concoction of almond milk, citrus, lemon balm, and vodka, you know you’re in good hands.
Revenge; Supercar
From Left to Right: Revenge, Revenge Gummy Bear; SuperCar, SuperCar Gummy Bear.

For those who have adrenalin-spurred dreams and desires, you can try Revenge – caraway with vodka (and blood…?), or even SuperCar which is white wine, butter, citus, gin and petrol.
Baby
Baby and Baby Gummy Bear.

Oh and if you order Baby: the gummy bear has the pleasant tasting notes of vanilla and milk, and the cocktail’s essentially dairy, a dash of apricot, honey, and citrus with gin – but it comes in a baby bottle. Maybe not the best drink for a first date, but it’ll definitely break any awkward silences. Each cocktail looks like it’s worth a try, if not for the unique fusion of flavours and edible garnishes (think angostura-soaked paper, cherry sorbet lipstick, and a passionfruit “acid” tab).
The Dreams and Desires cocktail menu is now available exclusively at Tippling Club from Monday to Saturday throughout lunch, dinner and bar service hours, with each cocktail priced at $24++.
Tippling Club is located at 38 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088461. Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3pm; Monday to Saturday, 6pm to 11pm. The Bar is open Monday to Saturday, 12 Noon to 12 Midnight. Tel: 6475 2217

Did You Know These Stylish Menswear Brands Are Local?

Is it stereotypical to say men are more brand-loyal when it comes to clothing than women? We aren’t just plucking our assertion from thin air. Because of the disproportionately larger number of male-oriented fashion brands in the market, men are more likely to stick to a labels that have sizes which fit them. We definitely know men who, when they find a shirt or pair of pants which fit them, are willing to buy the same piece in every colour for convenience. In Singapore especially, it can become very easy to define a man’s style by the brands they shop from, which impedes them from sartorially channelling their personality. Instead of travelling far and wide to source for brands which cater to a more universal body-shape sensibility, we’ve looked inward at our favourite Singaporean menswear brands across the spectrum of visual taste, some of which you may have already been shopping but completely didn’t know were designed locally!

Pedro

pedro
Multi Coloured Runners USD83, Leather Plain Toe Mocassins USD83, Buckle Slingbag USD99 from Pedro

A little known fact about Pedro is that it’s owned by Charles and Keith Group, who in 2011 became 20% acquired by fashion mega-corporation LVMH. Just walk into either stores and you’ll know why they’ve caught the eye of such a huge player in the international market. Pedro is for men who don’t like to fuss too much with the prescribed gender dress code yet are keen enough to notice details which keep their style looking updated today. Think Bally or Tods or Ferragamo, but at a price point that everyone can get on board with.

Depression

depression
Ambush Oversized Tee $199, Dark Place Long Pants $279, Zipper Pants Denim $299 from Depression

Depression is the perfect response to the cliché that Singapore is no place for aspiring fashion designers. Not only are Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh Singaporean designers, they’re Singaporean designers who’ve featured at Berlin Fashion Week consistently for several seasons and running. Think Gareth Pugh meets Rick Owens, Depression features several “volumes” of monochromatic structural pieces which defy the normalities of conventional dressing.

The Authority

Minimalist dressing isn’t just about throwing on a white shirt and a pair grey pants — it’s about a using muted tones and silhouettes to balance the wearer’s strong personality, an execution The Authority perfects with their clothes. It never steers too avant-garde, yet proposes just the right amount of unexpected to make you treasure your jacket or cropped denim even more. Their online stores features lookbook-based photography, inducing a sense of fleeting serenity.

Benjamin Barker
Nope, we’re not talking about the demon barber of Fleet Street here. Benjamin Barker, an Australian-born Singapore-based menswear label features an entire wardrobe of classic prints and colour, taking men from the workplace to the brunch space. We love their Tokyo fits which are modelled after the body type of many Singaporean men, contouring us in all the right places.

bb
Fujio Club Pink $89.90, Ryuichi Check Blue $89.90, SS Oxford Blue $89.90 from Benjamin Barker

Perhaps better described as a lifestyle, Benjamin Barker features B Men, a casual line, several cafes such as The Assembly Ground and B Burger, as well as a chain of consignment shops B Store featuring a line-up of impressive international brands to complement their main clothing line. We’ve located some of these brands on our favourite shopping site ZALORA which we’ve a 15% off discount code for (as usual, check the code down below!)
