Now that they’re practically on everyone’s wrist, you’ve probably been introduced to the Daniel Wellington brand by way of their signature multi-coloured strap watches. It’s easy to see why plenty of people own one, though. Depending on your outfit, these thin, recognisable NATO straps can lend an instant nautical vibe or give it a slight touch of the Hamptons, making it an incredibly versatile option for all. As much as Daniel Wellington himself loved those straps, however, that’s not all the brand is known for.
Today, we’re taking a closer look at 4 outfit-elevating offerings from the brand for both women and men.
(L-R): Classic Petite Bondi, Classic Petite Melrose
Since white shoes have made a comeback this season, white watches too have made quite the statement this year, but Daniel Wellington’s
Classic Petite Bondi watch has taken it to a whole new level. Fusing the rose gold stainless steel detail with an eggshell white dial and fresh white leather strap offers an elegant and contemporary look that’s imbued with attitude. True to its trademark versatility and clever design (who doesn’t love the idea of interchangeable straps?), the Classic Petite range also lets you switch out to a mesh strap, and since we’re suckers for rose gold, we’ve got our eyes set on the
Classic Petite Melrose which has that lovely finish against an ebony black dial for a chic contrast.
(L-R): Classic Oxford, Classic Cornwall
Of course, we can’t talk about Daniel Wellington without heading back to their famed NATO straps. These classic timepieces were designed with great attention to detail, evident in the
Classic Oxford design. Weaving playful colours together allows the strap to blend in seamlessly with the simple dial, crafting the perfect accessory to suit laid back and even formal occasions. If you’re looking to kick that formal element up a notch, the
Classic Cornwall will do just that. The all-black NATO strap on black dial proves that minimalism is truly timeless. Coupled with touches of silver detailing, this classic will always be there to elevate any attire.
If you’ve noticed, each watch is one that’s minimalistic in nature, svelte and sophisticated with its clean, streamlined form. It’s no wonder these watches have become mainstays in many an accessory drawer. With that, we went ahead and got 4 members of the NYLON team to style their look around these elegant wrist staples from Daniel Wellington. Have a look at what we picked out to go with our casual and formal ensembles.
Jade Yeo, Writer
CASUAL: Classic Petite Bondi, $239
Let’s kick things off with my pick. When I’m not entirely clad in black, I stick to a white and blue palette, so you’ll often find that colour combination wrapped under a denim jacket on weekends. To pull this whole relaxed look together, I went for the Classic Petite Bondi, which is just the complementary touch of elegance that’s missing from the ensemble. While it is indeed comprised of leather and stainless steel, it wraps around my wrist comfortably and bears none of that clunky weight you’d expect, thanks to the slim watch face and strap. For someone who doesn’t like wearing watches, this one may have finally changed my mind.
Amelia Tan, Associate Editor
FORMAL: Classic Petite Melrose, $249
Her style may lean a little more feminine, but instead of steering into the predictable cocktail dress route for a polished evening look, Amelia’s opted to style herself around the Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Melrose. Like we said, it’s a trendy shade we love to incorporate into every look! Here, she’s picked out a bronze skirt with a sheen that mirrors the rose gold, and she’s paired that with a navy top with sleeve embellishments to keep an otherwise simple top interesting. From accessories to beauty items, we’re pretty sure you can tell she’s got a good eye for subtle details, and they definitely go a long way in making one stand out against a sea of black attire.
Joel Conceicao, Writer
CASUAL: Classic Oxford, $239
Joel likes to keep his outfits simple with an unexpected twist. For this look, he’s gone for a loose-fitting shirt with a tropical print on it, playing up the element of colour against his dark skinny jeans. In the same vein, the Classic Oxford he’s chosen sits well with the bands wrapped around his wrist, adding nautical vibes to their rustic charm. Slip-on shoes are a universal pick for comfort and convenience, and to top off a chill outfit, he loves to don on those circular shades which make him “unashamedly feel like Morpheus from the Matrix.”
Adli Sazali, Editorial Assistant
FORMAL: Classic Cornwall, $229
Black is versatile colour that goes well with everything, which is why the all-black Classic Cornwall caught Adli’s eye. And while it’s easy to follow suit with an all-black outfit, Adli’s actually gone the opposite direction. Here, he’s paired a preppy white mandarin-collared shirt with beige chinos – one of his go-to combinations when it comes to colour-blocking. To give the overall look an athletic appeal, he’s also thrown on an olive bomber jacket and coupled it with a curved baseball cap, toning down an overly formal attire.
