This Stylish Audio Brand From China Will Surprisingly Satisfy Your Every Music Need

The audio game has changed dramatically in recent years. Earphones straight out of the smartphone box no longer cut it. Instead, music lovers are going for more expensive options. But who can blame them? Newer models have features like active noise canceling (ANC), automatic pausing, and music customisation.

Slogan Tees and the Fashion Statement They Make

The conventional wisdom is that actions speak louder than words. In recent fashion history, however, punchy catchphrases have found their place on tees and sweatshirts, from the runway all the way through the high-street. Late last year, Christian Dior’s first ever female creative director Maria Grazia wowed the industry press and beyond with her now iconic and often-referenced “We Should All Be Feminists” t-shirts. The slogan was typed in a rather passé sans serif font, and skeptics immediately questioned the legitimacy of her $710 creation. While some believed that Grazia’s t-shirt was her way of alluding to her groundbreaking appointment at the fashion house, others had suspicions about the authenticity of her message.

It’s not difficult to see why. Trends have always driven the way we wear clothes, and given the uncertainty of the time we’re living in — Brexit a.m. and Trump o’clock — it seems like now more than ever that standing up for a political cause is vital to gain a seat at the table on any huge cultural conversation. Dior may have been one of the first, but certainly not the last of fashion houses to launch such pieces meant to evoke a sense of social justice pride in the hearts of consumers everywhere, from Ashish’s eponymous label with “love sees no colour,” to Coco Capitán at Gucci’s “common sense is not that common” and Raf Simons at Calvin Klein with “I ♡ New York.”

banner slogan t

Some do it better than others, of course, but many seem to get lumped into this very unflattering category of “you’re just doing it to hop onto some pop culture bandwagon and care more about design as emotional triggers than the actual issues surrounding those buzzwords.” With the mega businesses that fashion designers work for behind their ready-to-wear collections, it’s almost impossible to completely decipher if they’re being sincere or facetious.
Instead of second-guessing their intentions, it’s probably better to err on the side of giving them the benefit of the doubt. If anything, the emergence of the modern slogan tees have spurred meaningful conversations around the tumultuous climate we live in and how (if not yet) we can better react and effectively convey our opinions.

You'll go nuts over the latest KAWS x PEANUTS UT collaboration

Uniqlo has been hitting many home runs these past few months. From their latest high-end designer collaboration with J.W. Anderson, to the most recent instalment of their now biannual series Uniqlo U, customers just can’t seem to get enough of their crazy good basics. And while Uniqlo has always been about pairing classic silhouettes with quality fabrics that remain stylish forever, their UT ranges have been more buzz-worthy and pop-culture oriented. In fact, a new launch is on the way…
Is anyone excited about the idea of a sequel to 2016 Kaws x Peanuts UT collection?

The debut collection last year was met with roaring success. Brooklyn-based designer Kaws, who worked on craftily embossing Snoopy and his friends from the Charlie Brown cartoon onto Uniqlo’s comfortable t-shirts and hoodies, presented a tasteful sense of nostalgia and modernity in his clothes. Kaws, clearly a devotee of Snoopy, previously dealt with the subject in his artistic endeavours and is thus clearly a relevant candidate for representing this iconic character. This new collection is set to reinterpret the je ne sais quoi of its past ranges in an all black-and-white colourway that feels more reminiscent of Kaw’s life in New York.

kaws

One standout feature of this new collection is the introduction of a womenswear line. With pretty much matching pieces across the men’s, kids and now womenswear, all couples and families are hereby invited to join in the fun of donning their favourite Kaws x Peanuts UT collection outfits.

Collectors alert! Snoopy plush toys with Kaw’s signature cross-out eye detail using fabric handpicked by the designer himself will be also made available for purchase. But make sure to jot down the release date for these items, which if the past is any indicator is an important one to remember — they have previously sold out everywhere almost immediately.
The 12-piece line with a price range of S$14.90 to S$49.90 will include t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and the collectible plush toys in two sizes, available in-stores and online from Friday, 24 November.

Why the Beautyblender Is the Only Makeup Tool You'll Ever Need

Ah, the Beautyblender… We’re definitely no strangers to this wonder of a blending tool. The tear-drop shaped sponge makes for effortless navigation as its plush surface smooths product out and eliminates all streaks to give our skin a pristine finish brushes simply can’t achieve. Pretty easy to see why this has become one our all-time favourite essentials, no? Well, this squishy thing may have been a staple in everyone’s makeup bags since 2007, but there’s certainly more to know about this iconic sponge.

How it all began

Surely founder Rea Ann Silva couldn’t have predicted the huge impact it would have on the beauty world. As a makeup artist who’s worked on television sets throughout her career, she wound up in a special-effects makeup class one day and, you guessed it, there were sponges involved – Silva’s lightbulb moment. After the lesson, she began experimenting with various sponge shapes to make sure it would work well on different plateaus of the face, until she finally settled on the Beautyblender’s signature tear-drop silhouette.

The material

Unlike standard makeup sponges, the Beautyblender is hydrophilic – sounds fancy, but it basically means that it’s designed to absorb water. When you soak it in water and squeeze the excess out, the hydrophilic foam material its made of becomes damp and allows a tiny amount of makeup to penetrate the top layer, creating a cushion effect for makeup application. This is why it gently bounces off the skin, while depositing a good amount of product for blending.

How to use

The Beautyblender can be used in a variety of ways, but the most effective method is still to tap it onto the skin, rather than dragging it across, which can alter the desired finish. So remember to pick up a good amount of product and tap away instead. One thing you might not know is that you can even use powdered formulas with the Beautyblender. You’ll notice that it gives the same matte finish, but with an added glow. Just make sure you wring out the excess water before you tap it into the pan, because you won’t want to destroy your favourite blush or bronzer.

Another hack to note is that it was designed to refresh makeup during the day. Piling on more makeup throughout the day creates even more cakeyness that we all want to avoid, so instead of touching up with more foundation, use a damp Beautyblender to re-blend for a flawless finish. Above, Rita Ora shows us how she does just that with her own beloved pink sponge. While you’re at it, take a gander at some of our favourite Beautyblender hacks here.

How to keep it clean

You don’t have to wash your Beautyblender every single day, but do remember to after a few uses with a gentle cleanser like Dr. Bronner’s or the brand’s own solid and liquid soaps. If you’re reading this now and your sponge hasn’t been washed in years, here’s an absurd trick that’s tried-and-true: stick your sponge in the microwave and heat it up. With proper care, the Beautyblender should last about three months, so keep your sponge clean and dry.

Beautyblender alternatives

Last year, we brought you a selection of Beautyblender alternatives to satisfy your addiction to makeup sponges and go easy on your wallet a little, but those who’ve tried them all would know that the original sponge still reigns supreme. Yes, at $32, it isn’t exactly the most affordable one ever created, but what you’re paying for is a seamless, glowy finish that’s unlike any other. It’s even paved the way for the rise of silicone sponges, and uh, other strange things people decided to blend their makeup with (thank god it’s come to an end). That aside, do give the OG Beautyblender a try – you’ll know why we’ve raved about it for years from your very first tap.

We Found A Lightweight Foundation That Still Gives Us Flawless Coverage

It sounds quite impossible doesn’t it — a high coverage foundation that’s still lightweight, but we’re sure one exists somewhere in the vast beauty universe, somewhere, somehow… we just didn’t expect it to be sitting right in front of us. That’s how KATE Tokyo’s ‘The Base Zero’ line-up is. The new base makeup series by the Japanese brand recognises that while lightweight, delicate coverage seems to be the trend these days, it isn’t really that suitable for everyone; what if your skin’s less-than-flawless to begin with, or you’re going through a breakout? How then do you expect good, reliable coverage that isn’t disappointingly sheer?

katebasezero

Seriously, there’s nothing to be ashamed about. Rather than pile on the foundation or concealer, there is a way out — base makeup that provides good coverage, while still remaining lightweight enough that you won’t have to live with that uncomfortable heavy feeling all day. Within ‘The Base Zero’ line up, there are three hero products: the KATE Secret Skin CC Base Zero, a CC base, the KATE Secret Skin Maker Zero Powder, a tight-fitting, fragrance-free powder that has advanced oil-control properties, as well as the KATE Secret Skin Maker Zero Liquid. It’s the last one that we want to talk about, simply because it makes our skin look so good.
skin_maker_zero_h1b

Basically, the liquid foundation does just what you want it to do — it hides our uneven pores for a beautiful, flawless base with just enough coverage, even from the first stroke. You won’t have to layer your foundation multiple times, nor deal with a horrible cakey mess at the end of the day. How it does that though, is by way of a smooth formula that you first “place” generously onto your skin, and then “spread” out, with just a light touch, in order to cover your entire face and neck. The skin-fit polymers present in the formula ensure that the foundation spreads out smoothly and easily while maintaining an even coverage, until the product’s nicely blended into your skin.
Screen Shot 2017-10-03 at 6.15.47 PM

Then, there’s another piece of technology you might not even notice: how carefully KATE Tokyo considers the particular shades of their foundations. An in-house survey of those in their late teens to 23 year olds reveals that plenty of young customers are worried about having a poor complexion, above the other skin concerns of breakouts, dull pores, or dry skin. Therefore, the brand set out with them in mind, to create a finish that gives you that effortless glowy look. The new-and-improved foundation shades are also created with more red pigments that compensate for the yellow undertones in most Asian skin types with the aim of achieving a brighter-looking complexion.

FUNFIT Makes Dressing Up For Exercising More Exciting

Exercising might seem effortlessly easy, especially when all you see on Instagram are endless scrolls of #fitspo posts that just remind you that you spent your night eating chips and watching Netflix. Okay, so you’ve made up your mind to go running, but then you realise that you don’t have any running clothes. Lo and behold, you manage to dig out your old FBT shorts and university orientation camp shirt from who knows how long ago. They’ll do for now, but you don’t want to be seen exercising in those ratty threads by everyone!
Local sportswear label, FUNFIT, offers a wide range of trendy atheleisure apparel that is perfect for wearing out and exercising. You won’t be embarrassed to be spotted in their sportswear, which come in everything from block colours to bright, cheery patterns, and of course the safe colour black.

If you asked us which is their star product, it would have to be their exercising shorts. The two major designs are the Atheleisure Petal Hem Shorts, which has two layers for double protection and an inner pocket, and the shorts that come with a Keeperband, which is kind of like a fanny pack as the entire waistband can be used to store your essentials. You can keep your phone, keys, wallet, and it can even fit your passport (if you choose to go running with your passport for some reason). The Keeperband helps keep your shorts up whilst you have your phone in your pocket on your waist – no more droopy shorts that keep threatening to fall! And yes, we’ve tried it for ourselves so we can vouch for this.

Their athletic crops can be worn as bathing tops, while their swimsuits can double up as a bodysuit – just pair them with jeans or a skirt. Now you don’t have to tote around too many changes of clothes just for one swim! Also, their swimsuits have really #relatable quotes that totally resonate with us.

Their signature petal hem shorts can also be used for swimming, which comes with a little handy pocket for your locker key.

Toddlers and Tiaras and… Dior?

Remember that cable TV show about mums who nurtured their daughters into beauty and fame-obsessed little girls and pushed them to compete fiercely on toddler pageants? It gained instant notoriety for sexualising kids at such a young age, and the mums were heavily criticised for brainwashing their kids with grandiose ideals of attractiveness. Those extreme depictions of misplaced childhood fantasies were too grotesque for anyone to stomach and have ever since been banned from receiving much mainstream coverage, but the visual “appeal” of a kid dressed as an adult has clearly not gone away. Some might even say it has been exacerbated.

This is the very first photo from @hypekid‘s Instagram account, an online magazine launched in July earlier this year. If the label sounds acutely familiar, that’s because it banks on the reputation of its highly successful sister publications, Hypebeast and Hypebae, targeted respectively at millennial men and women. The prefix “hype-” has taken a whole new meaning in pop culture, referencing a nuanced high-end luxury street aesthetic. While kids can certainly distinguish between what they find pretty or otherwise, the rise of luxury brands investing time and money into kids’ wear is almost certainly one hundred percent aimed at the parents of kids today.
Come on. No 3-year-old is online shopping Gucci trainers in their spare time because they saw A$AP Rocky wear it at a fashion show. And yet there’s an entire section of Gucci’s website that features newborn to tween wear.
Unsurprisingly, there has been an increased media focus on what kids are wearing, from spotlighting the street fashion of celebrity kids like North West and Blue Ivy to the quick rise in popularity of Instagram fashionista toddlers like Coco Pinkprincess.
At the moment this all still seems like just another novel way to get some attention on social media. While many of these kids look undoubtedly fabulous in their Fendi furs, it’s more important at the end of the day for parents not to make their into kids mini mannequins and for kids not to be misled about the financial reality surrounding such extravagant wardrobes.

All You Need to Know About Owning an E-Bike or E-Scooter in Singapore

By Joel Conceicao
Ah, road regulations. We all have to follow them, whether we’re driving a car or crossing the street. And the same goes for e-bikes and e-scooters (or PMDs if you want to get technical). Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you would’ve noticed these devices zipping around the streets – some dangerously so.

1_EPIQUE City_L1

Kids have been knocked down. People have died too. While it’s all fun and games when riding a PMD, safety should always be a top priority. So if you’re thinking of getting one of these devices in the near future, here are some tips to help you become a responsible rider. Remember, safety rules are there for a reason!
E-Bike Rules
3_EPIQUE City_L3

E-bikes, or power-assisted bicycles, are great fun. However, they are crazy fast too. A good friend of mine once told me that an e-bike kept up with his scooter – on the road at 60km/h, mind you. Yes, that’s right. E-bikes are actually allowed on the road, but they aren’t allowed to go that quick, and it makes sense to implement regulations to keep riders in check. Here are the most important ones:
1) The rider must at least be 16 years old.
2) The rider must wear suitable protective bicycle helmets.
3) Cycling is not allowed on pedestrian footpaths. Roads, cycling paths, and shared paths are fine.
4) The maximum speed of your e-bike should not exceed 25 km/h. That means no illegal, “need-for-speed” modifications. Those caught can be jailed up to three months or fine up to $2,000 for the first offence. Repeat offenders may be jailed up to six months or may be fined up to $5,000. Not fun at all.
5) Again, no modifications must be made to power output. Your e-bike should not exceed 250 watts.
6) Motor power should only kick in when the cyclist starts to pedal. So, if you want some throttling action, please go learn how to ride a proper motorbike.
7) The weight of your e-bike cannot exceed 20kg.
8) All e-bikes must now be registered under LTA.
In any case, there are plenty of stylish e-bikes to go for, so there’s no real need to “modify” them. You can find a few good ones from companies like Falcon P.E.V.
21687449_2005937772968430_5377069859589857356_n

Especially sick models include the Tsinova TSO1 Electric Bike ($1,499); which has a vintage design and smart drive system, and the EPIQUE City E-Bike ($995); a foldable device that’s sporty and lightweight.
E-Scooter Rules
Unlike e-bikes, e-scooters are relatively new in Singapore, having been around only for the past few years. They are, however, incredibly popular and it’s easy to see why. They’re slick, quick, and convenient: what’s not to love about them?
Well, loads actually (for people who don’t own them).
17621977_1918520185043523_2654259416762552771_o

Earlier this year, a woman actually rode an e-scooter on the road with her kid at Punggol – on the freaking road! And scarily, that’s not the only rash act. There have been an increasing amount of accidents in recent years, so it’s no surprise that there have been a lot of backlash from the public.
If you’d like to be the cool person who’s considerate to others, while still have fun at the same time; here are some regulations to consider when riding an e-scooter:
1) E-scooters are allowed on cycling/shared paths and pedestrian footpaths but strictly not on roads, as well as pedestrian overhead bridges.
2) Speeds must be limited to 25km/h on cycling/shared paths and 15km/h on footpaths.
3) Lights must be switched on in the dark.
4) Playing music out loud is fine, but use your common sense and don’t disturb people at sensitive places and times, like wakes or late at night. Oh, and please be a good DJ too – that means laying off the Bieber and Eurotrash.
It ain’t rocket science, people. Staying safe will not only protect you, but normal pedestrians too. Convenience shouldn’t come with danger attached. That’s something we’d all do well to remember.
That said; if you like to check out more cool PMDs, like e-bikes or e-scooters, check out Falcon P.E.V’s website. Their list is extensive!

Tiffany & Co. Goes Full Luxe With Their Homeware Collection

By the way, we’re talking about the epitome of luxury, so by no means are any of these things affordable to the average, even above average, spender — which is something that the brand is aware of. Hence, their ironic, tongue-in-cheek take on “everyday objects” turned luxury.
Tiffany & Co. has just debuted its very first collection of homeware and accessories, handcrafted in the signature sterling silver and the trademark Tiffany Blue that we love so much. Just like how we girls all dream of owning a Tiffany & Co. necklace one day, these items also covet a spot on our wish list.

Still-life-of-paper-_4479_11 - PR IMAGE (NO EXCLUSIVE)
It seems that luxury brands are turning towards the home to fully encompass the luxury lifestyle. Just earlier this year, luxury brand Hermès opened its first ever immersive lifestyle exhibition in its flagship store in Liat Towers, and Italian luxury brand Gucci also released an entire line of home furnishings so that you can live in style.
The Tiffany & Co. collection focuses more on everyday objects that you can use at home instead of just sitting on display like a fine piece of art. From silver straws, wine glasses, teddy bears with Tiffany Blue paws, passport covers to table tennis paddles and even a pill box, every item in the Tiffany & Co. collection has a functionality because pretty things are not just meant to be admired. Tiffany’s ethos is that beautiful objects need not be reserved for special occasions, and can also be used in everyday life. Judging from this collection which just advocates beauty in seemingly mundane objects, we have to say that Tiffany & Co. really defied expectations this time.
We picked out some of our favourites from the collection.

It’s not surprising that a Tiffany & Co. teddy made it into the collection because the brand was one of the pioneering companies to offer luxury baby items. Other creations also include a piggy bank and a cashmere and wool blanket in signature Tiffany Blue, which will surely be cherished as heirlooms for future generations to come.

What you'll hopefully never see on Twitter again

Twitter has been, for better or for worse, a powerful discussion tool in 2017. What used to be a safe haven for stress relief and laugh-out-loud memes has become more of a forum for serious debate about politics and human rights. In light of the increasing outrage happening on the site, CEO Jack Dorsey has once again emerged publicly to announce that he and his team are committed to further positive discussion by strengthening its anti-abuse policy.
This change comes in succession of several others this year, including changing the word-count of a single tweet from 140 to 280 characters, virtually revamping their entire design interface and introducing “moments” to their platform. (Snapchat must feel honoured.) Whether we like it or not, Twitter has behaved like any successful business would: they access the mood of the zeitgeist, and adapt to it accordingly.

Unfortunately for them, the zeitgeist now seems to be moving faster than they can react to it. In fact, just 24 hours before Dorsey had come out with his statements against violence and indecency, the Internet was going through yet another controversial hashtag-led social media movement. Women (and men) from all across the digital globe participated in #WomenBoycottTwitter, which encouraged users to not engage with Twitter for 24 hours as a form of silent protest.
This was sparked due to an incident made public by American actress Rose McGowan, whose Twitter was briefly banned shortly after she revealed her personal encounters with sexual assault in Hollywood. Twitter tried to clarify that she had leaked a private phone number in one of her posts, which violated their guidelines, but many other users — like Kelly Ellis, a former Google software engineer, who coined the #WomenBoycottTwitter movement — strongly believed this was a direct oppression of women like McGowan from speaking their truth against authority.

https://twitter.com/justkelly_ok/status/918362427187781632

Regardless of intent, it is clear that Twitter’s conventional, cookie-cutter approach to policing what can or cannot be content for their site always seems to leave a bad taste in people’s mouths. If Dorsey and his team genuinely want Twitter to become a safe space for all, they need to start being more transparent.

Huawei Launches Gorgeous Mate 10 in Singapore: Pre-Orders Available Now

When it comes to must-cop smartphones, the choices are clear. The iPhone X will always be desired. The same goes for the Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Those gadgets are top-drawer stuff – the cream of the crop if you will. However, Huawei’s Mate 10 series may very well soon join that elusive category.

huawei_mate10

Unveiled by the Chinese tech giant in Munich, Germany on Monday (Oct 16), the Mate 10 is now available for pre-order in Singapore from Oct 17 to 23 on Lazada and Huawei Concept Stores with a retail price of $888. That excludes the premium Mate 10 Pro and Porsche Design Mate 10 models, which will be unveiled on Oct 26.
HUAWEI Mate 10 (Black) Front copy

Mate 10 in Black

But what’s so great about the Mate 10? Well, Huawei claims that it’s not just a smartphone, but an “intelligent device” with a brand new chipset that the company says can beat Apple or Samsung. That’s a big claim, although if the chipset delivers, it could be a huge game-changer in the smartphone industry.
HUAWEI Mate 10 (Mocha Brown) Front copy

Mate 10 in Mocha Brown

Called the Kirin 970, Huawei calls the chipset the world’s first AI processor for smartphones with a dedicated Neural-Network Processing Unit (NPU), which combines classic computing, graphics, image, and digital signal processing power that traditionally require separate chips.
In other words, the Kirin 970 is less of a computer, and more like a “working human brain” (cue the emphasis on AI). Huawei also claims that the chipset will preserve battery life on phones by up to 50%, as well as offer faster performance.
PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 10 (Diamond Black) copy

And of course, the Leica-branded dual cameras have returned for the Mate 10 series, rolling together 12-megapixel RGB and 20-megapixel monochrome sensors, optical image stabilization, an aperture of f/1.6, and AI-powered zoom. That’ll allow you to snap some pretty neat photos, as well as produce the fake “bokeh” effect.
Other cool features include a new and improved 4000mAh battery that can charge from 1% to 58% in 30 minutes, and an EMUI desktop; which allows users to plug their phones into any screen in order to use it as a desktop. In terms of design, the Mate 10 sports a 5.9-inch LCD screen that’s housed in a slick 3D glass body.
If you’re interested in scoring the Huawei Mate 10, it will be available in two colours, Mocha Brown and Black, and is now available for pre-order at lazada.sg.

Attention, Glow-Getters: Your Highlighter Is Getting a Major Jelly Upgrade

If you’re a beauty enthusiast, chances are you would’ve heard much about Farsáli’s serum-primer hybrids – the brand’s Rose Gold Elixir and the Unicorn Tears Serum, in particular. The Instagram-famous potions have been dripped onto makeup sponges, mixed in with makeup, and even used as a highlighter substitute. (Pssst! They’ve also made their debut at Sephora.) This time, however, Farsáli is set to change their strictly-skincare lineup with a whole new makeup innovation. Meet the beauty brand’s latest Jelly Beam Highlighter.

It may be the brand’s first foray into makeup, but just like the rest of its products, it blurs the line between makeup and skincare, staying true to Farsáli’s hybrid approach to beauty. As its name suggests, the Jelly Beam Highlighter has a gel texture, but instead of leaving a tacky feel on your cheekbones, it actually sets like a powder so it only looks like there’s a slick shine. The game-changing luminiser also leaves a gorgeous satin rose-gold finish, so you won’t even need the Kirakira app to sparkle like a diamond. Take a look at it in action set to some sensual R&B:

The bouncy formula also contains brown seaweed extract and hyaluronic acid to infuse your skin with moisture, adding to that luminescence. And though you should definitely swipe this on liberally on the high points of your face, you can apply this anywhere else on your face and body. Go ahead and coat those lids in this jelly goodness and bring back the shoulder strobing trend while you’re at it.

UBTECH Just Launched the Cutest Stormtrooper Bot Ever

When it comes to the end of the world, there are a few theories: nuclear warfare, environmental destruction, and the AI-engineered downfall of humanity. Don’t laugh. These are all real threats and not some made-up sci-fi crap. Luckily, we’re at least still pretty far away from a true AI disaster because what we’re making is just too darn cute.

Don’t believe us? Check out UBTECH Robotics’ latest creation – a Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Robot that is quite possibly the most adorable bot in the whole wide universe.
UBTECH Stomtrooper Robot_1

Geared with augmented reality (AR), this bot gives users control over a stormtrooper like never before. It has a voice command feature, so you can verbally tell this little droid to do cool stuff like sentry patrolling – yes, this fella over here will actually stand guard for you. And oh, it has facial recognition to boot as well.
UBTECH Stomtrooper Robot_2

All in all, this is a great collectible for Star Wars fans. The bot’s AR app allows you to play an immersive game where you’re protecting the First Order from the Resistance in the comfort of your home, and the fact that you can verbally command attacks is pretty damn cool if you ask us.
UBTECH Stomtrooper Robot_3

Do take note that you need the minimum Encryption Standard of 128 bits and to make sure that no personal data is saved to the robot or app. Wouldn’t want any hackers stealing that precious info, would you?
Anyhow. UBTECH’s Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Robot is retailing for $529 and will launch by the end of November 2017. Pre-order yours now at banleong.com or head to selected retail partners like Challenger, Courts, and Harvey Norman.

Sparkle Like Your Favourite Instagram Stars with Kirakira+

If there was one thing that stood out from the latest fashion week, it was glitter. From sequin dresses and knee-high boots to decadent runway sets, sparkle seemed to dominate the fashion scene from all over. Interestingly enough, the eye-catching looks on the catwalks this season appeared even more magical on many brands’ and influencers’ social media platforms, thanks to the Kirakira+ app, which has ever since become a fashion trend in its own right.
Kira means “shiny” in Japanese, and just like its namesake, the app comes with a set of filters that cast a shimmery, dewy glow across any video. Not only do they accentuate how luxe an outfit is, they also give any skin complexion a healthy sun-kissed wash.
The fun part is, everyone on social media has taken the filter and given it their personal spin. Industry gurus like head of fashion partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen, have captured the epitome of Kirakira+ decked out in their head-to-toe dazzling suits with matching shoes.

Other celebrities, like new-to-the-scene supermodel Kaia Gerber, took a more subtle approach backstage at the Versace SS18 show posing with her superstar mum Cindy Crawford. (Although with Kirakira, is there really any way to be subtle?)

Currently, the overriding sentiment in fashion seems to be more is more is more. Perhaps a determined focus on the frill and joyful is an attempt at distracting us from time we’re living in. Even if all that glitters isn’t gold, it seems to be at the moment a surefire way to put a smile on someone’s face.
And for the discerning Singaporean, here’s your disclaimer: the app costs S$1.48 on the app store. In a perfect world, we’d all want everything to be free too, but if the idea is to pay $1.48 to look like a million bucks on an Instagram post, it’s no wonder so many people are on board.

Man's Best Friend Deserves To Be Stylish In Winter As Well

When it comes to luxe winter wear that looks stylish and keeps you all toasty and warm, Moncler is your go-to brand. From the streets to the highlands and mountains, you’ll dominate the scene, especially if you are wearing one of their bright, firetruck-red coats.
I mean, this fashion label can even make the puffer jacket look cool, which says something. This winter, they haven’t forgotten your doggo, because dogs get cold too even though they come with a default fur coat. But when the wind blows, your poor dog will feel it right down to its paws.

Moncler has paired up with Poldo Dog Couture for a special capsule collection of doggy coats. The collection will reinterpret one of Moncler’s iconic silhouettes adapted into a waistcoat style to fit our furry-legged friends without restricting their movements. They’ll still be able to effortlessly run about (to keep warm in the cold, we presume). The nylon laqué coat will come in the standard black and navy colours, as well as their signature cheerful colours like red and orange. The bright colours will certainly come in handy identifying your dog if they try to run away from you!

If a windbreaker doesn’t fit your vibe because your dog’s outfit needs to match yours, there’s also a knitted pullover, with a turtleneck to block any wind.  We love that the knit incorporates chromatic Norwegian designs that totally matches Christmas sweaters, and also reminds us that our canine sidekicks can rock the preppy look. Keep your dogs warm this winter!

The collection comes in two sizes – small and medium – and is now available in Moncler boutiques and on Moncler.com

Unleash The Force on Your Workout with This Star Wars Gym Pack

Star Wars fans; there are a lot more ways to get fit than just swinging around a toy lightsaber. We know, we know. What could be more exciting than that, right? Well, feast your eyes on this then: fitness company Onnit has just launched a new range of Star Wars-inspired gear that’ll take your exercise regime to a whole new level.

Comprising of kettlebells, medicine balls, and yoga mats, this intergalactic gym pack goes down the diabolical route, based off some of the Galaxy’s most villainous characters. For instance, the kettlebells are modeled after Stormtroopers, Boba Fett; as well as everyone’s favourite Sith Lord – Darth Vader.

The Boba Fett kettlebell (US$150) is the lightest of all, weighing in at 22.6kg, while the Stormtroopers (US$180) and Darth Vader kettlebells (US$200) weigh 27kg and 31kg respectively. There’s also a medicine ball that’s made to look like the Death Star (US$75), although this rubber-constructed workout tool only weighs 9kg.

What’s probably the most impressive (and creepy) is a frozen Han Solo yoga mat, which comes complete with poor Han’s face in anguish from the flash-frozen carbonite. At just US$65 however, you’ll most definitely get the most attention at yoga classes, not to mention, experience a weird as hell downward dog pose.
Pre-orders are available now via Onnit’s website, and good news – they ship to Singapore, so if you want to work out with the force soon, here’s your chance.
