Customise Your Beauty Routine With These Makeup Drops

Playing cosmetic chemist is so much fun — and you literally don’t even need to go to school for that. We’re all about the makeup drops; y’know, the little serum bottles that come with droppers so that everything just looks more… experimental? Yep, that. If you can’t even seem to ever find the right blend of foundation, or highlight, or bronzer, you’ll just have to make it yourself. So here’s the deal: You can now concoct your very own remedy of makeup that’s perfectly hydrating, of the right consistency, of the correct shade, and/or perfectly glowy or matte, according to your personal preference.
Lucky for us, there’s a whole market of makeup drops that are just waiting for us to… drop it like it’s hot. Below, some of the classic beauty drops to shake your routine up a little:

Clinique BIY Blend It Yourself Pigment Drop
$56, available at Clinique counters

There truly is something for every skin type — even for those who are allergic to foundation. Clinique’s BIY Pigment Drops caught our attention because of what it promises: to turn your day moisturiser into a BB, CC or full coverage foundation. All you have to do is to grab hold of your favourite moisturier, mix in a couple of pigment drops depending on the coverage that you’d like, and blend the mixture away on your face. One drop gives a sheer, tint-like coverage, a couple more a medium to full. The foundation then takes the finish of your moisturiser, so you can pick and select a dewy or matte one according to the occasion. There are just so many ways that these pigment drops can be used — a reviewer commented that she’s mixed them into her sunscreen, primer and even added them to her existing sheer foundation to amp up the coverage.

Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil
$72, available at Sephora

There are just those foundations with beautifully full coverage, yet dry down so matte, they start to cake up on your face. Don’t be in a rush to throw them out yet — we all know how hard a good foundation with actual coverage comes by. Loosen up the formula by incorporating hydrating beauty oils each time to reach out for that one foundation; it’ll still retain its coverage, but will instead set down to a satin, dewy finish depending how many drops are used. Those who prefer an oil with skincare properties might want to consider putting the tried-and-test formula of rosehip oil into the mix.

Cover FX Custom Blot Drops
$62, available at Sephora and sephora.sg

Cover FX may be known best for their blinding Custom Enhancer Drops, and we’re pretty sure you’ve already made acquaintance with them, some way or another. What’s less known about the brand is that they actually do offer quite a number of other makeup drop solutions meant for you to tweak and create your perfect beauty blend. For those who are looking to mattify your look, the Custom Blot Drops will do just the trick. Mix it into your overly dewy foundation, concealer and/or blush, and it’ll instantly remove shine away from your face once your makeup is on.

Algenist REVEAL Concentrated Colour Correcting Drops
$38, available at Sephora and sephora.sg

Colour correcting products may look daunting, considering how most products require you to smear colour over problem areas, then put foundation over. What happens if you foundation can’t fully cover those coloured spots? Do you really want to head out with a green patch on your cheek…? Save all that worry with Algenist’s Colour Correcting Drops, where specific colours, when mixed into your primer, foundation or concealer, can help correct redness, dullness or sallow skin.

Perricone MD No Bronzer Bronzer
AU$50, available at mecca.com.au

Wanna fake a tan without actually going under the sun? Blend in a few drops of liquid bronzer into your foundation, and you’ll have yourself a sun-kissed complexion down pat. Perricone MD’s No Bronzer Bronzer adds a subtle bronze-y, beach babe tint for a healthy glow. On no makeup days, a quick couple of drops into tinted moisturiser and sunscreen will work as well.
3605971556579
Urban Decay Liquid Aura Illuminating Mix-In Medium
$48, available at Urban Decay stores from 22 June.

Get your highlighter fix nursed with illuminating mix-in drops, on days where you’d want to look extra glowy and sparkly. Adding in just a tiny bit of Urban Decay’s Liquid Aura into your foundation will help elevate the way the product looks on your skin, for the illuminator adds dimension to your complexion, as the light-reflecting pigments in the medium catches light.

Shade Adjusting Drops_25559_0_0_zlarge shade-1_Shade Adjusting Drops_25559_0_0_zlarge
The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops
$29.90, available at The Body Shop stores

Shade adjusting drops aren’t the most necessary, considering how you should always pick a best foundation match before committing to the purchase. But in the event where say, you get tanner and that ivory foundation just won’t work anymore, these shade adjusting drops will come to good use. These drops also work well with foundations that oxidise to a much darker shade than it looks in the packaging. Essentially, the best part of these drops is that they allow you to mix your foundation to one that fits your skin tone perfectly. (And we all know how hard those are to come by, don’t we?)

Burberry Unleashes Their (Adorable) Beasts in a Limited-Edition Beauty Box

Not all icons assume a human form. Case in point? Burberry’s Beasts. The luxury British fashion house has drawn inspiration from the pages of medieval English manuscripts for its latest collection, hatching a host of endearing mythical characters in an eclectic mix of colours, textures, and embellishments.
burberry beasts trio (1)
You’ll find these fantastic beasts on an assortment of Burberry mainstays, but if those are way out of your budget (the prices are enough to make our eyes well up), perhaps their exclusive Beauty Box would be a better alternative.

Extracted from their latest designs centred on the Burberry Beasts, the limited edition Beauty Box features signature makeup items in shades that complement the colour palette of the overall collection. You’ll find rich red hues wading in deeper tones and a smokey grey courtesy of the velvety eyeshadow. Of course, the box wouldn’t be complete without a decorative sleeve featuring the iconic beasts. Find Out If Your Hair Is Ageing Faster Than You Are

When it comes to skin ageing, there’s already plenty that has been said out there. Heck, most of the skincare products that exist out there are dedicated to turning back the clock on skin, to some extent or other.
Hair ageing, however… that’s not something most of us have thought about much, if at all. I was forced to confront it recently, when I discovered my hair age during a session at trichology authority TK TrichoKare.
I was there to try out their new anti-ageing hair treatment, the Advanced Age Defying Hair Treatment, which is designed to combat these signs of ageing hair: thinning hair, grey hair, dryness, brittleness and lacklustre hair, using the key ingredients of Emu Oil and Ginkgo Biloba extracts (TrichoKare bases its customised treatments on European herbal hair remedies).

proven results final
What TrichoKare has achieved for its clients so far.

During my consultation with the Trichologist prior to the treatment, I took the Advanced Tricho Hair Test and it was revealed that my hair age is… 34 (I’m 26!!!). 😱😱😱
That means my hair is a horrifying 8 years older than my actual age – almost an entire decade. The Advanced Age Defying Hair Treatment came at the right time, then. It features the latest Oxyjet technology, a needleless jet infusion of pure oxygen and nutrients that are “shot” into the deep layers of the scalp. The treatment is all about providing overall anti-ageing care to the hair and scalp using key ingredients such as:
Emu Oil

  • Reactivate dormant hair follicles (up to 80% of them)
  • Boost the thickness of each hair strand

Ginkgo Biloba extracts

  • Boost collagen and melanin production to prevent grey hair
  • Counteract signs of scalp ageing

Basically, the treatment provides these 6 benefits for your crowning glory:

So here’s how it went, when I gave the TrichoKare Advanced Age Defying Hair Treatment a try:
While I’m not seeing any hair greying or thinning yet, my tresses are definitely quite distressed: brittle and lacklustre, caused by multiple rounds of chemical treatments. The scalp scan before the treatment revealed I have a greasy scalp and my follicles were clogged with excess sebum, which impedes hair growth. Not characteristics that obviously imply ageing hair, but if left untreated, definitely could lead to visible signs of ageing hair, like hair loss and hair greying.
IMG_1174

The customised scalp purification mask was applied to my scalp, and it did a deep cleansing by removing impurities and excess sebum, while better regulating sebum production. The customised tonic applied afterwards helps to strengthen the cohesion of keratin fibres to improve the hair density; this was followed by the infrared light therapy, which improves blood circulation in the scalp, in turn increasing oxygen flow to the hair follicles. It also helps to open up the pores and clean up the hair roots, preventing follicles from becoming dormant.

Post-treatment, the Trichologist did another scalp scan, and the difference was evident: most of my hair follicles were cleaned out, and my scalp felt so much cleaner – definitely well-detoxified. My scalp is usually greasy and itchy towards the end of the day, with dry flakes – especially evident when I’m wearing a dark-coloured top. It’s really not pleasant, and having this treatment done and getting to spend the day with a squeaky-clean scalp was so refreshing.

The Most Exciting Lip Products Coming For Autumn/Winter

As we said a few days ago, Autumn/Winter brings the best stuff, when it comes to beauty. We’ve already listed out all the skincare and makeup we’re super stoked about, but we just had to dedicate an entire post to just the upcoming lip colour launches, because boy, are there plenty of very exciting things coming our way indeed.

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment Stylized Image 1 - jpeg

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment
$40, available at the NARS store and counters from September.
NARS is quite late to the matte liquid lipstick game, but that was all forgiven when we swiped these, and saw how beautiful the colours are. The nudes and mauves are the ones you’ll zoom in straight on, of course, but there are plenty of standout shades as well, like a deep mulberry, and even a black.

chanel le rouge crayon de couleur

Chanel Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur
$50, available at CHANEL Beauty boutiques from 24 August 2017, and all CHANEL Beauty counters from 1 September 2017.
There’s something about crayon-shaped makeup, colours all lined up prettily in a row, that makes us unable to resist collecting them. And when it’s a Chanel crayon, of course we want it. These lip crayons go on with a satin finish, and we’re partial to the nudes and purples.

dior metalizer

Dior Metalizer Eyes & Lips
$41, available at the Dior Beauty store and counters from 1 August 2017.
That metallic texture is not for the faint of hearts. As the name implies, this liquid colour can be worn on the lids or lips; applied with a brush or fingers, as an eye-catching top coat that amplifies whatever shade it goes over.

fresh sugar cream

Fresh Sugar Cream Lip Treatment
$36, available at Fresh stores, Sephora and sephora.sg from August 2017.
Fresh always had this line of tinted cream lip treatments, but we’ve never really heard much about them – the stick lip balms always got all the attention. There’s more reason to shout about these though, now that Fresh has released the Sugar Cream Lip Treatments in three new nude hues, which includes a baby pink, golden shimmer, and sheer pearl.

maybelline colour jolt

Maybelline Colour Jolt Intense Lip Paint
$9.90, available at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa, major supermarkets and department stores from August 2017.
Maybelline really has been upping their lip colour game of late, with a whole slew of releases that feature bolder and bolder hues. In a while, they’re bringing us the liquid colours as well, with these new Colour Jolts that come in 8 matte and 8 shiny shades. The colour payoff will be extremely intense, but application will still be relatively easy, with the flocked tip.

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick in My Icon Is

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick
Price and launch date TBC, to be available at Sephora and sephora.sg.

We’ve already confessed that we want this mostly for the packaging, and it’s nice that you can collect as many shades as you want, without having to invest in a brand new tube of lipstick each time. With this, you can just purchase the refill, and pop it into the case depending on whatever catches your fancy each day. There are 30 shades, covering pretty much the whole spectrum of lip colours.

victorias secret velvet matte

Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stains
$21, available at Victoria’s Secret stores.
Yup, VS does makeup too! These are straightforward: 5 matte shades ranging from a nude to a deep wine, an enriched with Vitamin E and Olive Oil so they’re not too drying on the lips.

mac metallic lips

M.A.C Metallic Lips
$33, available at M.A.C stores and counters from August 24 2017.
Metallic lipsticks aren’t new, but M.A.C really took this finish to the next level with this range. We’re seeing very, very shiny shades indeed, like Silver Spoon, a multi-dimensional silver, and Pearly One, white frost that looks almost like confetti.

The Standout Camo Footwear Of The Season

The camo print, like stripes and polka dots, has always been a classic design in fashion. Granted that we’re all about exploring and differentiation when it comes to style — just like how the millennial pink and embroidery fad came about — it’s pretty safe to say that old is always gold. Black will always go well with white, and camo will always be a yes on our radars. We mean, Kylie Jenner did just drop a camo-themed collection (copied or not) as part of her fashion merch line, and YEEZY is quick to follow up with their own military chic offerings this season. And to further ground the fact that camo is back, Christian Dior’s Fall Couture Collection falls right into the elegant-wild side of things.
Of course, fast-fashion brands aren’t one to miss out on trends — here we have a couple of camo-clad, thematic military green footwear that’ll help you kickstart those safari-chic vibes:

Vans Authentic in Green Camo

$81.80, available at Opening Ceremony

Blend right into the wilderness with a monochromatic camo print that covers every inch of the Vans Authentic silhouette — while, very ironically, standing out at the same time. We’ve seen Vans taking the minimalist route all year, so it’s finally time that they broke out and gave us something different. Not a single piece of canvas was left uncovered, which allows the dizzying green-and-brown sneaker to exude some sort of hypnotic effect that we’re really digging.

PUMA Basket Platform in Olive Night
£84.99, available at OFFICE

My, renditions of PUMA’s most popular sneakers just get wilder with each makeover — a fall-ready “Olive Night” colourway graces the upper of the Basket Platform, with a black base that’s interspersed with military green thread weaving. The camo-print isn’t as distinct as the one from from Vans, so it works great for folks who just want a subtle kiss of safari. The OG white chunky sole stays, while the upper is complemented with military green laces.
http---bae.hypebeast.com-files-2017-07-puma-suede-heart-olive-night-1
PUMA Suede Heart Olive Night Gold
£69.99, available at OFFICE

Another gorgeous PUMA offering that we won’t regret, ever, considering how this olive coloured Suede Heart looks equal parts of adventurous and sophisticated. This isn’t camo per se, but it does have the base dirty green colour of the actual print. As we’ve always preached, suede does make everything look better — and while the girly offering, complete with thick satin laces, may not be your first pick to a safari excursion — the neutral tone of the sneaker is going to look good with literally any outfit that your wardrobe can conjure.
http---bae.hypebeast.com-files-2017-06-adidas-nmd-r1-utility-grey-camo-pink-1
adidas NMD_R1 in Utility Grey Camo
Price TBC

Milennial pink everything might not for everyone, so for those who… y’know, only ~lowkey~ love the fad, this NMD_R1 that comes in grey and khaki pixel camo print might be just the glass slipper sneaker. The upper sports a predominantly dark grey hue, punctuated with muted green and khaki accents. A white midsole completes the look, but what really seals the deal would be that pop of hot pink on the rear EVA block. It does add that bit of spunk to the sneaker, which, we have to say, is quite the necessary detail that we never thought a sneaker needed.

Urban Outfitters Furry Pool Slide in Green Multi
US$15, available at Urban Outfitters

It truly is impossible to get enough of slides. Footwear for lazy Sunday brunches are no longer buckle-up sandals, but instead, furry slides that come in a multitude of styles. The ones from Rihanna’s FENTY Puma line may be a tad overpriced, so if you’re looking to save some dollars on a similar look, turn your cursors to these ones by Urban Outfitters instead. The Green Multi is essentially camo in its most luxurious iteration; but if you’re interested, UO has a similar style, in a cheetah print.

http---bae.hypebeast.com-files-2017-07-yeezy-season-5-military-boots-05
YEEZY Season 5 Military Boot
Prices TBC

Following Kylie’s camo merch, Kanye West’s latest YEEZY collection takes on the same wild vibes with lots of military green and safari-ready styles. They’re bringing back the popular military boots from Season 4, though this time doing away with the khaki, and installing in various shades of olive. The actual camo print isn’t present; Kanye has instead went down the colour-blocking route of patching camo-colours together on the boots’ surfaces.

Apple Leak: Brand New Features Confirmed for iPhone 8

The iPhone 8 isn’t even out yet, but it’s already one of the most talked-about phones on the planet. While most of the hype has revolved around the new phone’s supposed all-glass display, there’s also been chatter about Apple ditching the TouchID, as well as the addition of wireless charging.
And guess what, those rumours are true. At least according to two of the world’s most famous tech leakers – KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo (who’s been accurately predicting Apple products for years) and Bloomberg’s Apple insider Mark Gurman.
Together, the two have confirmed a list of new features for Apple’s yet-to-be-released flagship gadget, which includes the complete removal of the physical home button, the introduction of 3D scanning and facial recognition, the ability to wirelessly charge your phone, enhanced dual rear cameras, as well as the highest screen-to-body ratio amongst smartphones.

The phone may also have what is called ProMotion display technology, a feature that’s meant to improve performance or save battery life. The ‘Apple Neural Engine’, a special artificial intelligence chip, will power this new technology.
A rumour that’s not true is the removal of the lightning port. That’ll remain for the iPhone 8. It will however have improved speakers for a better stereo experience. Oh, and of course, there’ll be no headphone jack too.
With so many radical changes, we just hope that the iPhone 8 is not too pricey as previously suggested. We suppose the only way to find out though is when the company launches the phone somewhere between October and November later this year. Till then, happy saving!

Why Rosehip Oil Is Your Best Weapon Against Acne Scars

Kate Middleton, Miranda Kerr, and David Gandy. What do all three of them have in common apart from being incredibly attractive white people who roam the Earth? Their love for rosehip oil, of course.
In recent beauty news, Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil grabbed headlines for being Kate Middleton’s secret to glowing skin, and apparently, it’s something she reaches for during her days of pregnancy too. It’s known for its major skincare benefits, so we can totally see why the Duchess of Cambridge would be all over this complexion-saving facial oil.
Having chanced upon that tidbit, I decided to crack open my own bottle that’s been patiently waiting its turn on the beauty trial shelf. Since my skin was hit by a major wave of hormonal acne, it seemed like the most appropriate time to put Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil to the test.
By Jade Yeo

trilogy rosehip oil review 2

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
When I smoothed the vivid golden oil on my face for the first time, it left a nice sheen and the oil sinked in relatively quickly. It doesn’t feel quite as thick as the MV Organics Rose Plus Booster (which I am almost out of but won’t repurchase because… where my money at?) too, leaning closer to a dry oil because of the higher linoleic acid to oleic acid ratio. There’s a pleasant earthy smell to it that’s unlike any other plant oil, but if its scent puts you off, don’t worry – it dissipates within mere seconds.

rosehip oil review 1

HOW TO USE
This has been my daily approach: 2 to 3 drops mixed in with my daytime moisturiser, and 4 to 5 drops on its own at night right after I’ve cleansed and toned my skin. I keep the bottle in a cool (it’s kinda impossible in this weather, I know, but cool-ish?), dark place to prevent it from getting rancid too quickly.

spongebob two weeks later

THE RESULTS
Yes, applying a facial oil to an oily, acne-prone complexion sounds counterintuitive (in fact, I was pretty worried it might make me break out even more), but I’ve learned that it’s the best thing you can do to boost your skin’s ability to heal. Within two weeks, there was a pretty drastic change in texture and tone – my skin was softer to the touch and visibly brighter. The obvious red patches seemed to have calmed down too, so now I don’t have to apply as much foundation to those areas as I normally would, and that’s not even the best part.
Can I just say… that it has taken years – nay, aeons, just to watch a minuscule dot of acne scar fade ever so slightly, yet this oil has helped lighten every scar on the left side of my face in two weeks. They’re not entirely gone at this point, but if I keep this up, they might just disappear one day. Fingers crossed, guys. Rosehip oil is rich in both vitamin C and retinoic acid, a form of vitamin A, which would explain why it’s been so beneficial for my turbulent skin.
Since I employ the aid of a salicylic acid treatment when I’m dealing with breakouts, my skin can become dehydrated and even flaky at times, so this oil is perfect to counteract that issue. It doesn’t just give the skin a much-needed shot of hydration with its natural fatty acids, it also soothes redness, reduces unsightly scarring, and evens out overall skin tone. Not to mention, Miranda Kerr swears by rosehip oil for stretch mark prevention, however I don’t intend to have any children, so you’re just gonna have to trust her. (Though if I do get knocked up in the near future, this review will be updated. You have my word.)
And look what we have, another glowing review. I mean, rosehip oil doesn’t make me look like Kate Middleton or Miranda Kerr (or David Gandy?), but it is truly some kind of a miracle ingredient. Oh, and in case you need a final push, know that one bottle is sold every 22 seconds around the world. Yup, it’s that impressive.
Trilogy Rosehip Oil, $42. Available at Watsons and zalora.sg.

Superga Launches Their Own Pair Of Covetable Tennis Shoes

If there’s any pair of sneakers that we’ll gladly have our feet live in (forever), you can bet that it’s definitely the all-time classic adidas Stan Smith. No surprise there — we worship the sleek silhouette for its versatility — from its first rendition to its latest.

Instagram Visual 4

Indeed, there’s nothing quite like a good ol’ pair of tennis shoes inspired by a legendary tennis player; Stan Smith himself owns at least 60 pairs of the sneakers that bear his name. But we’re not here to gush over how our worn-and-battered pair of Stans ultimately remains as a ride-or-die pair (if you’re interested though, see here, here and here) — but rather, we’re here to deliver a quick introduction to Superga’s latest sneaker alert: The Superga Sport Lendl, a tennis sneaker pack trio that is made in collaboration with Ivan Lendl, tennis champion of eight Grand Slam titles.
Superga Ivan Lendl - White
Superga Ivan Lendl - Red Navy
Superga Ivan Lendl - Blue

Not gonna lie, the sneaker does look very much like the Stan Smith, with its white base, coloured heel tab and perforated leather accent. What is different, however, is Superga’s own sneaker detailing that features a “swallow’s tail” logo designed in 1970. The entire sneaker screams classic; all of the OG features of Superga Sport footwear can be found, such as the eco-leather upper, printed rubber sole as well as the logo on the tongue. The heel tab of the sneaker is naturally the highlight, and it comes in three different colours: hemp, blue and red. Ivan Lendl’s signature will be screened on it in gold foil, just for that extra touch of luxury.
All three colourways of the Superga Sport Lendl are available in Superga stores, and they will retail at $139.90 per pair.

5 Eyeshadow Tricks For Small Eyes

Trust us on this: There’s no need to be afraid of eyeshadow. Yes, it is admittedly one of the trickier makeup steps to master; and yes, when you have small eyes without sufficient real estate on your eyelids to properly follow most of the eyeshadow tutorials out there, it’s easy to feel even more intimidated by all the pretty palettes you feel you can never use.
Don’t believe that – you can use those pretty palettes too!! When you know some tricks for how to make eyeshadow work for smaller, Asian-shaped eyes, not every attempt at applying eyeshadow has to end in disaster. This isn’t about those scarily exaggerated cut-creases you see on Instagram – props to the mad eyeshadow blending skills it takes to achieve that, but what we’re trying to achieve here is subtle, natural definition, especially on monolids.
How to: Achieve this by applying the Enhance shade on the inner corners, and the Define shade on the outside corners; both about 1cm above the lashline. Blend well to create a natural-looking gradient effect, and avoid colours with too much shimmer.

Custom Eyeshadow Trio in Not So Nude
; wear this with a healthy pinkish glow on the lips, using the Sheer Kiss Lip Oil in Pampering Pink.

Brighten the waterline, especially when using darker colours.
brightenwaterline

This is a common trick – line under the lower lashlines with a light colour to open up the eyes. It’s especially key when wearing darker colours though, as those can easily overwhelm small eyes when not balanced out.A palette with both light and dark shades will come in handy here.
How to: After applying the Enhance and Define shades, use a sponge-tip applicator to line the lower lashlines with the Highlight shade; line the upper lashlines as well if you want an extra widening effect.
For this look, try:
look 3

Custom Eyeshadow Trio in Something Blue; keep brows looking natural but well-defined with the Statement Brow Gel.

Don’t be afraid to play with warm hues.
peachyeye goldeye

Warm, peachy hues on the eyes have been in trend for some time now, but for eyeshadow amateurs, it might be daunting to try – we understand the fear of risking looking like you’re nursing sore eyes. You don’t have to keep yourself away from the warm eyeshadow palettes any longer, as long as you keep it simple.
How to: Pinkier hues suit skin with cool undertones better, while warmer undertones can go for shades closer to gold. Always keep it simple by wearing a maximum of two shades – preferably the lighter Highlight and Enhance ones – and avoiding too much shimmer. You’ll find that these really help to brighten the eyes, and perk up the complexion.
For this look, try:
look 2

Custom Eyeshadow Trio in You Had Me At Merlot (cool undertones) and Custom Eyeshadow Trio in Bronzed To Be (warm undertones).

For monolids, apply eyeshadow in a vertical gradient.
eyeshadow gradient

Most eyeshadow tutorials will tell you to apply eyeshadow starting with the lightest shade in the inside corners, and ending with the darkest shade on the outside. That generally works alright, but for crease-less lids, it might make more sense to apply colours in a vertical gradient. This more natural-looking gradient style is more suited smaller eyes, since there’s more visual balance.
How to: As usual, start with applying the lightest Highlight colour first as a base. Layer on the Enhance shade, and then the Define shade, in gradually shorter blocks. Be careful not to extend too high up from the upper lashlines, and blend well!
For this look, try:
look 4

Custom Eyeshadow Trio in Forever Plum
; pair this with a bronzy complexion achieved with the Fourever Bronze Bronzing Powder.

Balance out smoky shades with warm neutrals.
smokyeye

It’s easy to get smoky eyeshadow colours wrong. Cool shades can be a mismatch on warm undertones, and poor blending can make you look like you’re nursing a black eye.
How to: One way to balance out the darker, cooler shades is to start with a base of a warmer colour, like a light brown, or even a muted peach. Apply the Enhance shade on the outer corners, both above and under the eye, before applying the Define shade over, and blending well. This slight contrast helps balance out the cool tones a little, so it doesn’t overwhelm smaller eyes.

Custom Eyeshadow Trio in Smokey Nights
; widen eyes even more with a coat of the Lasting Impression Mascara.

The LANEIGE BB Cushion Just Got Really Blinged-Out

The Laneige brand philosophy is all about bringing out the “sparkling beauty” in all of us, something that’s reflected in their skincare and makeup lines. But never has the phrase “sparkling beauty” been more literal than this latest edition of the BB Cushion:

laneige swarovski

Meet the Laneige BB Cushion Crystal Edition, which comes encrusted with Swarovski crystals. It really doesn’t get more sparkly than this – Swarovski’s XIRIUS Crystals that feature a star-shaped cut and rich colouring, covering the BB Cushion’s holographic cover.
Is it pretty? Yes, extremely. Do we need it? No, not really, considering we already own the BB Cushion in its various holographic editions, plus all the ridiculously adorable limited editions that followed after (see here, and here). But still, we want it so bad.
We really can’t believe this atas version of the BB Cushion is priced the same as the regular one, so you’re really getting this Swarovski upgrade for free. Suddenly, there’s a very legit reason to add this to your collection indeed.

LANEIGE BB Cushion Crystal Edition with Crystals from Swarovski®, $59. Available in 3 shades: #13, #21 and #23, from 7 July 2017 exclusively at all LANEIGE boutiques. laneige.com.sg

A Massive Two-Day Foodie Market is Happening at Dempsey this July

We all have different ideas of the perfect weekend. For some, it’s about partying till the early morning. For others, binge-watching Netflix for 12 hours straight makes a good day. For us though, we just love to eat, which is why Open Farm Community’s (OFC) upcoming foodie-themed market is a godsend.

OFC_Social Market - Past images - 1

Happening across the weekend of 22 to 23 July 2017, this social market at Singapore’s only restaurant in a farm is back for its tenth edition, and will feature some of our city’s best F&B talents, including artisanal bakers, gourmet grocers, small-batch producers, and even hawkers.
At the event, fusion café Bao Maker’s will be whipping up a medley of mouthwatering Asian-inspired buns, while you can also stuff yourself silly with delicious salted egg yolk cookies from Chefy Bakehouse. If you want to take things down the local route however, try out some of Rojak Line’s, uh…rojak.

Pets are welcome too!

For some pure, unadulterated goodness that’ll probably make you feel like you need to go on a diet pronto, make your own raclette cheese sandwich from The Raclette Movement. And if your tummy needs a breather (which we’re betting it will), there’ll also be a cocktail masterclass hosted by the Tipping Club’s Jonathan Lee.
Last but not least, OFC will also set up a booth of their own with cold brews, fruit juices, and a massive outdoor barbecue.
Called the OFC Sunset Social Market, this event is happening from 22 to 23 July 2017 at Open Farm Community, from 3pm to 8pm each day. For more information, visit the Facebook event page here.

Let Your Inner Goth Surface With These Spellbinding Beauty Brands

The beauty industry is intent on peddling all things unicorn, mermaid, holographic, and millennial pink to us. Unfortunately, it’s working. Even the blackest of hearts have fallen down deep into that glittery rabbit hole and are still trying to crawl out of that technicoloured ditch. So let’s give our sisters a hand and set their souls free, shall we?
Today, we’re summoning the beauty brands who cite Morticia Addams, Elvira, and Fairuza Balk’s Nancy Downs as their muses to let your cold, inner goth shine through once again.

Creating Magic // Ash and Ember Eye Soots, as captured by our beautiful retailer @curliquebeauty.

Rituel de Fille

Queen Kat Von D ain’t got nothin’ on this brand. Rituel de Fille‘s founders, the Ramos sisters, have convened their affection for natural ingredients, whisking them in a magical pot to create some of the most pigmented, mystical multitasking makeup creations we’ve ever laid eyes on. Must-haves from the lineup? Their potted Ash & Ember Eye Soot, Forbidden Lipsticks, and of course, the Inner Glow Crème Pigment in the headline-making shade ‘Eclipse’. Consider us spellbound.

Sugarpill Cosmetics

Should you find it difficult to part with your vibrant holographic makeup, Sugarpill Cosmetics injects a good amount of cheekiness to their dark collection so you don’t have to sacrifice anything. This makeup brand is known for their hyper-pigmented formulas, cruelty-free philosophy, and their adorable pill-inspired packaging. Their Trinket and Kim Chi Liquid Lip Colors are flying off virtual shelves too, so you might just wanna pick them up yourself.

Cryptic Cosmetics

This cosmetics brand is one that’s created by goth queens for goth queens. Founder of Cryptic Cosmetics, Christina, merged two of her lifelong interests, music and makeup, to bring her line to life. Taking on the names of several classic goth anthems like ‘Sweetest Perfection’ and the spooky number ‘Rust in Peace’, her longwear liquid lipsticks gives Kat Von D’s Everlasting offerings a run for their money.

Giving away 2 of these (painted beauties) randomly in orders today for free. Xo. That sentence was awkward.

Rebel’s Refinery

The stuff this brand churns out are so cool, you’ll want to incorporate them into your home decor. Case in point? This Capital Vices Collection Skull Lip Balm. It contains sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and vitamin E, so you can use it to nourish your lips OR you can pretend to be Hamlet, hold this tiny skull up and go, “To be or not to be…”. Just a suggestion. That’s not all, though. With their lineup, Rebel’s Refinery aims to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer foundations.

Concrete Minerals

Yes, you can still be a goth and veer from an all-black colour palette. That’s where Concrete Minerals comes in. The vegan, cruelty-free brand crafts makeup inspired by unicorns, zombies, and black magic. A strange synergy, yes. The Black Moon collection is a pearlescent dream that pays homage to the moodiest shades, but on the other end of the spectrum, you’ll find the most neon pro-matte eyeshadows.

Kylie's Out Venturing Again And It's Not Makeup-related

Yeap, another Kylie venture is coming soon but it’s not in the field of makeup. Recently, Jenner and her sister, Kendall, received backlash for selling vintage T-shirts with their faces and initials superimposed on top of iconic musicians like Jim Morrison, Pink Floyd, Metallica and Led Zeppelin, as part of their latest Kendall + Kylie collection, and we just can’t fathom how they even thought about doing that. While all of that went in the wrong direction, Jenner’s upcoming collaboration with Melbourne-based eyewear brand Quay Australia looks right in every way.

Can you feel it? #QUAYXKYLIE July 11th @kyliejenner

A post shared by QUAY AUSTRALIA (@quayaustralia) on

Quay Australia has garnered a steady following over the past few years, thanks to their notoriously cool sunnies. Their quality lenses come with 100% UV protection and an affordable price tag, a smart move that caters to more consumers. Add some Kylie attitude to the already Insta-worthy shades, and we’re pretty sure they will be sold out as soon as it launches. They sure know the key (no pun intended) to selling out those sunnies, huh?

The capsule collection consists of 4 different styles of sunglasses, dubbed as the “King of all Collections”. Well, we all know what a boss she is to actually call herself King Kylie, because why be Queen when you can be King? But to call it the King of all collections just sounds like an overstatement. However, you can expect bold and statement-making silhouettes which include oversized shields, retro cat eyes, sporty aviators and angular geometric frames. Of course, mirrored lenses are part of the collection’s offerings and taking into consideration the colours available for the 4 distinct styles, there are a total of 11 striking options to choose from. The price point will also remain affordable, ranging from US$75 – US$80, and they are limited-editions.

Speaking of the collection, Quay states that they’ve “found the perfect collaborator in Kylie. Her social media influence is unparalleled and she is known for her dynamic style and edge that her followers want to emulate.”
Looking at the campaign shots, the sunglasses do look futuristic with a tinge of 70s and early 2000s vibe. And that pixie cut wig she effortlessly pulled off? Damn, gurl!

A&W is Heading Back to Singapore in 2018 and We Absolutely Can’t Wait

In what is possibly the greatest news of 2017, it has been confirmed that A&W will be making a return to Singapore next year.
Kevin Bazner, CEO of A&W, confirmed in an email exchange with Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore that the American fast food giant intends to expand its business operations in Southeast Asia, and of course, that includes Singapore.
Where the new store is located and when exactly it will open, there’s no word on that yet. What we do know is that Singapore’s flagship restaurant “will serve as a training store” for other locations in Southeast Asia, like Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

You’ll get this see this once again!

And this!

Said Bazner, “Once the first location is open, we will begin actively franchising with a goal of opening our first franchise restaurant towards the back half of 2018.”
So yes, A&W is not looking to stop at just one outlet! Cue fireworks and Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” tune.
Anyway the main thing here is that all you happy campers can expect to see your favourite goodies like the root beer float, coney dog, curly fries, and waffles very soon.
We just hope that this time the company stays here for good, cause ain’t nobody got time to head to Malaysia or Batam only to feel sorry that our country doesn’t have one of the greatest fast food chains in the world.
