Visit Asia’s Largest Mirror Maze at the Science Centre Singapore this June

Not unless you’re some dorky primary school kid (which we’re pretty sure many of you guys aren’t), chances are, you’d probably won’t find the Science Centre Singapore cool. But wait; hold up, because something hip and happening is about to brew over there, and it’s none other than Asia’s largest mirror maze making its way to Singapore this June 14 onwards.

Professor Crackitt - Mirror Maze 2

Mirror Maze

Created by Adrian Fisher Design, record holders of seven Guinness World Records, and the cream of the crop when it comes to dishing out mega mirror mazes, this new permanent instalment will be the first time in two decades that the Science Centre Singapore has hosted a mirror maze, which is way, way too long in our books.
Professor Crackitt - Coloured Particle Modulation Unit

Coloured Particle Modulation Unit

Given the quirky title of Professor Crackitt’s Light Fantastic Mirror Maze, this trippy exhibition will feature a total of 105 mirror cells, and more than 17 interactive exhibits, including mind-altering holograms, tricky fake exits, and madcap experiments on the mysteries of light.

But just when you thought this kaleidoscopic dream can’t get any better, it does. The maze also comes with a backstory, revolving around the fictional life of Professor Crackitt, who’s a little strange and forgetful (not a very reliable professor, eh?) Not to worry, because he’ll add to the fun by feeding you fun science facts along your journey.
Adding itself as a cherry on top of the science cake is The Mind’s Eye, another permanent exhibition at the Science Centre Singapore, and a visual feast for the senses with its medley of eye-opening optical illusions.

Kim Kardashian is Launching Her Own Beauty Line and We Don't Know What to Expect

Kim Kardarshian West is out to break the internet, again, this time with the launch of her beauty line. She dropped the bomb, very casually, by posting three short videos on her Instagram account, revealing the date of launch to be 21 June 2017, followed by a link to the official website in which you can sign up for email announcements. As usual, the aesthetic of the website and the Instagram posts are very Kim-like, with the words in a nude hue against a paler pink-beige background. Her caption leads users to the beauty line’s official Instagram account.

@kkwbeauty

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Given that the launch is just next week, it’s surprising that nothing has been revealed yet. But we’re guessing even more nude lipsticks (even though just recently, she collaborated with sister, Kylie Jenner, to come up with four nude lip kits for Kylie Cosmetics), perhaps some poppin highlighters and killer contour kits. But we can’t be sure of anything and we just have to wait and see for more sneak previews to come.

With Kylie’s cosmetic empire, Kendall and Kylie’s clothing line, Khloe’s denim label and now Kim’s beauty line, the Kardashian-Jenner family sure know how to keep the cash register ringing. Anyway, do expect next Wednesday to be a hair-pulling and profanities-cursing day because we’re pretty sure thousands of people will be camping on their laptops and entering the site at any one time. And, hello? Let’s not forget Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line that is also launching this Fall. Beauty junkies, it would be wise to start saving up.

Dolce & Gabbana Drops Gorgeous Fur Slides in Pastel Blue and Black

Remember Rihanna’s jelly slides a couple of months back? Yeah, we do too, but for all the wrong reasons (to jog your memory a little, they looked like those pasar malam slippers your friendly, neighbourhood wet market aunty wears). Thankfully, Dolce & Gabbana aren’t going down that same hideous route.

dolce_gabbana_fur_slides

Instead, the Italian luxury fashion brand is bringing the chic factor back with two new pairs of furry slip-ons. In true hype fashion, one of these furry delights is dropping in pastel blue, a fresh change from the numerous millennial pink sneaker or millennial pink slides options already available in the market.
172003F124001_1

172003F124002_1

The other iteration arrives in a suave black colourway, which can be interpreted as Dolce & Gabbana’s way of saying that; hey, black is the new black once again. Needless to say, the designs of these slippers are straightforward. All there is to them are furry mink bands wrapped around rubber and leather soles.
If you want to cop them however, be prepared to splash the cash. Currently, each pair will set you back a whopping US$535, which is way too excessive in our books. Good news though. They’re both available at select retailers like SSENSE, which ships to Singapore in three to five business days (hurray!).

Kat Von D's Glitter Lipsticks Should Be Dropping Anytime Now

Way back in February, Nancy McGuire, VP of product development for Kat Von D, kept fans in suspense with a picture of the team in a midnight blue glitter lipstick shade with the hashtag #comingsoon on Instagram, which of course had fans real shook. Well, we’re almost halfway through June and there’s still no news of a launch. Could someone please define “coming soon” for us?

But just a few days ago, Tara Buenrostro, a member of Kat Von D’s artistry collective, posted a selfie of herself sporting the lipstick in the same shade of blue on Instagram, where McGuire also followed up with a Boomerang of 11 starry lip swatches. And it seems like they are having fun teasing their loyal fans by coming up with this caption: “ What is on your lips @juscallmetara and does it come in more colours?”

Based on the swatches, the lipsticks looked pigmented, as usual, and it seems like it catches the light pretty well to give it a glistening effect. While the collection may not be for everyday makeup, we think the black metallic would be great for when you’re feeling grunge while the shimmery gold could act as a top coat and be applied thinly over your lipstick to give it some sparkle.
Again, the ambiguous hashtag #comingsoon was part of the caption and it does not help that it might take longer for the collection to reach Singapore (after all that teasing, it’d better be available in Singapore), but as long as we can get our hands on it, we shall be patient because good things come to those who wait, right? Meanwhile, watch this space for more updates on the launch.

Finally, a Lightweight Cushion Compact to Keep Our Skin Matte and Hydrated All Day

Thanks to K-beauty, a dewy complexion is now something that’s sought after everywhere. But in our climate, there’s dewy skin, and then there’s dewy skin – literal drops of dew (i.e. sweat) trickling down your face. Yeah, no thanks. Goes without saying, but that dewy makeup can be real problematic when it’s up against Singapore’s searing heat. This is why Shu Uemura is offering us a solution to our cake-heavy, elaborate makeup routines. Meet the Stage Performer Fresh Tint All-in-One Hydrating UV Cushion.

shu uemura 1 (1)

Yes, it’s a mouthful, but this cushion compact does exactly what it claims to do. Its formula contains a silicone-based blurring gel that conceals pores to create a finish that’s akin to second skin. And while it isn’t too heavy on the coverage, it’s lightly tinted with mineral pigment to go on sheer, once again mimicking bare, natural skin. The formula doesn’t just deliver a matte finish though, it strikes the perfect balance of oil and water to quench thirsty skin too, ideal for those who crave a little hydration. And if you need a quick touchup to rid yourself of that midday shine, its sebum-sopping, anti-bacterial puff will do just the trick.

shu uemura shades

Since we’ve already given you the lowdown on sun protection, you’ll be pleased that this non-sticky cushion formula will also arm your complexion with SPF38 PA+++ to shield it from harmful UVA and UVB rays. It comes in 3 shades – beige, deep beige, and sand – that’s tinged with a fresh citrus scent to wake your senses as you pat it on in dreary mornings. Not a bad way to start the day at all.
Stage Performer Fresh Tint All-in-One Hydrating UV Cushion, $68. $48 for refill, $20 for case and puff.
Available islandwide from 1 August 2017.

Kylie Cosmetics’ Summer Collection Has The Eyeshadow Palette That We All Want, Right Now

The summer heat must really be catching up with beauty brands, because one after another, we find ourselves blissfully drowning in the season’s themed offerings, collection after collection that we willingly empty our wallets for. And Kylie Jenner knows that, because her brand has just revealed what is perhaps the best eyeshadow palette that she’s created thus far.

Take Me On Vacation kyshadow palette #VacationEdition #June15

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

Of course, it’s part of her Vacation Edition collection, that’s launched just in time for summer. Following the same 16-pan format as the Royal Peach Palette, the brand new Take Me On Vacation Palette boasts some of the most gorgeous, summery shades that we want to smear all over our lids. Check out the brights of the party that come in a matte finish — there’s a pale lilac, a punchy mustard and a candy coral pink — that we feel will make for a beautiful sunset eye look, or a pink lemonade-inspired one. The shimmers of the palette range from a beige taupe to a charcoal grey, alongside other neutral-toned mattes that will work well as transition shades.

Kylie mentioned that she’s revamped the formula of her eyeshadow pigments, so it’s going to be extra silky, extra buttery, and extra pigmented this time round. It’s truly one of the most comprehensive palettes that we can see ourselves pulling out for every occasion, be it for everyday use, for a beach party, for a lazy brunch date, and even a night out at the club.
Now, while we absolutely love her eyeshadow palette, Jenner has also launched a couple of brand new products together in this massive Vacation Edition. There’s the trio of Ultra Glow pigments, that when swatched, looked incredibly sparkly… which we can never say no to. And apparently, that’s not even the main highlight, because the beauty mogul also dropped a highlighter quad called the The Wet Set, which comes with four iridescent powders for glowing cheekbones. Very, very, very tempting.

Her collection also has the other usual suspects, two quads of matte and velvet liquid lipstick formulas that come in matching shades. So whatever your camp is, you don’t lose out on the fun! These four shades are right up our alley — a light beige, a warm chestnut, an orange coral terracotta and a muted lemonade pink. And a single special colour that’ll be sold individually… a bold, neon Barney purple that goes so well with a bronzed and glowy look. And to round it all off, two new glitter glosses (that’s pretty self explanatory) and a face palette to nail that sultry beach babe vibe.
The Vacation Edition collection will launch June 15 on kyliecosmetics.com, June 15 3 p.m. PST (June 16 6 a.m SGT).

These Manicures Help #freethenipple

When it comes to nail art, anything is possible as long as you get your creative juices flowing. We’ve seen geode nails, wire nails, 3D unicorn horn nails, succulent nails and… yeah you get it: there are just endless ideas when it comes to painting your fingernails.
And then along came Mei Kawajiri, introducing her nipple nail art to the Instagram community. Going by the handle @nailsbymei, the New York City-based nail artist was tasked with the responsiboobity of designing the nipple nails for Erose Aziza, and boy did she nail the look (pun intended). And the breast thing about these nips? Each nail, or boob, should we say, comes in different skin tones and shapes with the nipples raised for that extra dimension. To top it all off, some of the nipples even have piercings to boot, featuring silver barbells and gold rings going though the nips! Mei really had everything all thought out, huh?

Both Kawajiri and Aziza shared the end result on their Instagram accounts and used the hashtag #freethenipple, which garnered generally positive comments. If their intention was to make a social statement, then these manis are definitely an ingenious way to go about freeing the nipple, especially since Instagram has a strict no-nipples policy, which was heavily criticised for having double standards, since males are not restricted from baring their nipples on the platform – only females fall under this rule. While these might be brow-raising for some, we are all for it and it’s just another subtle (or not) way to show feminism is here to stay.

These Colourful Clays From Innisfree Put a Fun Spin on Multi-Masking

For Koreans (boys included), masks aren’t simply called upon to tame misbehaving skin. In fact, they’re gears in a ritual – an integral part of skin maintenance. Combining several masks to form a personalised “cocktail”, tending to different dermal needs makes a whole lot of sense, and it’s actually a pretty common practice in South Korea. Known colloquially as multi-masking, it involves the use of multiple masks simultaneously on different zones of the face to address specific concerns. Sounds a little serious, but it isn’t always like that.

jeju volcanic masks

Case in point? Innisfree’s new Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Masks. There are now seven coloured clay masks in the line – yellow, blue, peach, green, purple, white and black – designed to troubleshoot areas of concern. You’ll find Jeju-derived volcanic scoria in these masks, which is what makes the K-beauty brand’s Jeju Volcanic Line such a hit with the masses. This key ingredient is excellent at sopping up sebum and impurities, clarifying problem zones and brightening your overall complexion.

innisfree2
innisfree1 (1)

Clay masks are notorious for being too dehydrating, but innisfree’s Color Clay Masks come in three textures to suit all skin types. If you’re looking to infuse your skin with lightweight hydration, reach for the Water Gel Clay formula (peach, yellow and blue). There’s also a Creamy Clay formulation (green and purple) that won’t leave your skin feeling taut and uncomfortable after you’ve washed it off – perfect for sensitive skin types. Perhaps the most interesting one would be their Transforming Clay formula (white and black). It turns into a foam when you add water to it, doubling up as a cleanser. Multi-masking just got a whole lot more fun with these.
Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask (70ml), $13 each. Available from innisfree stores islandwide from 1 July 2017.

An Ode To These Beautiful Multipurpose Makeup Sticks

Last Friday at the Sephora Fall Press Day, there were plenty of mesmerising things (just see this video). There were plenty of droolworthy palettes (the BECCA x Chrissy Teigen one has only just hit Sephora Singapore!!!) and promising-looking skincare (Blithe has an upcoming makeup remover made with pink Himalayan sea salt that smells like a dream). But there were some more unassuming-looking products that caught our eye as well:

nudestix

This arm of luscious swatches belongs to Nudestix co-founder Taylor Frankel, who was showing off the new Nudie All Over Face Colour Matte Sticks.

nudies
From left to right: the Nudie All Over Face Colour Matte Sticks in Deep Maple, Eh; Bondi Bae; Naughty N’ Spice; In The Nude; Bare Back. $45, available at Sephora.

The five shades are all nudes, which is really no surprise there, and it’s a creamy formula that has a matte finish. What you’re supposed to do is apply the stick directly to wherever on your face you want the colour, which can include the cheeks, lips, and eyes, and then dab with your fingers to blend, or stipple with the built-in brush on the other end.
Taylor herself was wearing one of the peachy shades on her eyes, cheeks and lips – she told us this monochrome face look is all the rage these days. Of course we’re down for a look like that, because the fewer number of steps and products in our makeup routine, the better.
If we had to pick a shade, it would definitely be the peachy In The Nude, because we’ve recently taken a liking to how orangey hues – when used in moderation, and in matte finishes – can really liven up the complexion.
in the nude

These Nudies have seriously inspired us to pare down the number of makeup products we used to colour our face, and switch to these multitasking sticks instead. While Nudestix’s relatively new offerings are really enticing, the other brands have quite a few options that are right down our alley as well.

The New Formula That Will Save Your Sparse Brows

We all want to be Cara Delevingne in the brow department, but most of us simply weren’t born with it – and so, it’s up to a daily arsenal of makeup to fake some full arches. We’ve tried them all: pencils, crayons, gels, liquids, powders; and what we’ve learnt up to this point is, nailing phenomenal brows can be very tricky indeed.

cara
Brow goals.

That’s the sad truth, people. Pencils and crayons are usually not pigmented enough to leave you with high-impact brows, while gels and liquids can be hard to manipulate, especially in the hands of a beginner. That’s why we’ve come to favour powders, which are a nice balance of good colour payoff and relatively easy control.
So when brow authority Rimmel London launches a new powder formula, boy are we going to sit up and pay attention. The new Brow Shake Filling Powder is quite different from brow powders we’re used to – it comes in a tube with a soft and narrow padded applicator, so you can easily fill in your brows quickly and precisely. It simplifies the whole process, because while we appreciate how some brow kits come with a multitude of mini tools like brushes, bristles and even tweezers – knowing how to use them properly, and having the time to do so, is a whole different matter.
brow shake powder

The Brow Shake Filling Powder is waterproof, transfer-proof and fade-proof, all absolute necessities in our climate; the formula is light and comfortable on the skin and is easily buildable depending on how Cara Delevingne-like you want the end result to be – just give the tube a shake before each use just to keep the powder evenly distributed.
To add extra definition at the brow ends and edges, grab a Rimmel brow pencil. Their Professional Eyebrow Pencil is already one of our favourite drugstore buys, but it’s gotten a sweet upgrade in the form of the Brow This Way Fibre Pencil, which has a creamy formula that’s enhanced with tiny nylon fibres, to boost brow volume while keeping the overall look natural – so it’s almost like you can ~magically~ grow new brow hairs in the sparse areas.
brow this way fibre pencil

As we said, we can’t all be Cara Delevingne, but we damn well can try. It’s all about faking it with the right tools, really. 😉

Here Are The Freshest Millennial Pink Slides This Summer

It’s amazing how we’re never quite bored of millennial pink footwear, considering how insanely overexposed we are to this one particular hue. Hop on your various social media sites and you’ll inevitably (and yes, we do mean inevitably) chance upon something, anything, that comes clad in a pastel pink or shot on a beige-y rose backdrop. And if it’s any further indication how obsessed we are with the colour, we present to you part two of the millennial pink series (read part one here), with even more pretty-in-pink footwear that you’re going to lust over really soon.
Today’s agenda: Slides.

collage2
Everlane The Pointed Slide in Rose
US$145, available on everlane.com.

Evidently, this pair was made with elegance and minimalism in mind, considering how these pointy-toed slides by Everlane don’t look like your usual over-the-top furry footwear. Instead, these are decked out in full genuine Italian leather, with a straight-to-the-point design that’s sharp and fuss-free. Best part? These come in a multitude of monochromatic pastel shades, but as you guys already guessed — we have our eye on this beautiful milky pink one.
collage
Everlane The Form Slide Sandal
US$98, available on everlane.com.

When a brand gets a double mention in an entry, it’s a big tell-tale sign that we truly do love their offerings. Everlane’s taken your classic pool slide and upgraded it, with their signature Italian leather so that everything looks a lot more chic, and a lot more sleek. The insole comes with a supportive contoured footbed that forms to your feet — and hence the name.

KENZO Pink Logo Beach Slide Sandals
US$89, available at ssense.com.

Now that we’ve got the minimalist picks out of the way, folks with bolder tastes need to catch a whiff of these Barbie-approved beach slides by KENZO. The rubber sandal makes for the perfect beach footwear, and with that bright fuchsia strap and baby pink sole screaming for attention, you can be sure that these are gonna get you spotted from a mile away.
http---bae.hypebeast.com-files-2017-03-adidas-originals-adilette-slides-pastel-pink-5
adidas Originals Pastel Pink Adilette Slides
US$24, available at ssense.com

What we really appreciate of this pair by the brand with three stripes is the subtle emboss detailing that’s on the strap, which adds that bit of texture to an otherwise rather predictable design. The always stylish Adilette slides now come in a summery peachy-pink hue that’s likely to get lots of wear on lazy Sunday brunch dates.

Nike Benassi Solarsoft 2 in Prism Pink / Black
€29.85, available on inflammable.com.

When there’s adidas, you can always expect Nike — and the latter sure did not disappoint. Clad in a fan-favourite pastel petal pink hue, this one sandal is specially engineered to keep your feet cozy and comfortable. The built-in grooves on the insoles is combined with the brand’s Nike Fuse technology for a cushiony and pliable base that moulds itself to the shape of your feet. Top it all off with the Nike swoosh going right across the entire slide’s strap.
collage3
Reebok Core Slide in Shell Purple / White
€24.85, available on inflammable.com.

Okay, so this might not be pink per se, but no one ever said no to a pretty lilac colour, right? Plus, it’s Reebok’s first foray into the world of slides, so no matter how you look at it, this new launch is still something worth covering. These sandals are clad in a monochromatic style, so you can expect them to look very minimalist indeed. Peer closer, and you’ll notice that lilac you see does have that hint of pink in it.

FENTY Puma By Rihanna Bow Slides in Silver Pink
$130, available at all authorised Puma retailers.

Fashion genius Rihanna has the best taste, ever. Transitioning from her iconic fur slides that basically made slides a thing — and now to her current satin squeeze was pure gold in itself. The latest FENTY Puma collection has the prettiest selection of footwear, with majority of them boasting girly satin bows. The silver pink Bow Slides are possibly what we love most from her collection, and that’s on top of knowing that the ribboned trend was greatly inspired by Marie Antoinette.
1018875-BPNK_2 copy
UGG Royale Slides in Baby Pink
$130, available at all UGG stores.

There’s no denying it, these are effectively… fur slides. Y’know, ones that look uncannily similar to those from Rih’s first FENTY Puma collection. But upon inspection, you’d notice the difference — the strap of these slides are covered in luxurious Toscana fur that makes for a less compacted look compared to the OG fur slides. Essentially, fluffy.
http---bae.hypebeast.com-files-2017-06-kylie-jenner-the-kylie-shop-lips-slide-1
Kylie Lips Slides in Pink
US$40, available at kyliejennershop.com.

Those who can’t seem to get enough of Kylie and her booming beauty line might want to consider adding yet another Kylie Cosmetics item to their collection, though this time, nothing makeup related. Alongside her recent camo launch, the younger Jenner also debuted beach slides — which pay the ultimate homage to her brand’s cosmetics offerings. Clad in a punchy candy pink, these slides have the Kylie lips logo screened on, for the true Kylie fan.

Microsoft Announces Release Date For Xbox One X – the World’s Most “Powerful” Console

Xbox fans are in for a real big treat. After months of speculation, Microsoft finally unveiled on Monday (June 12, 2017) the Xbox One X at E3 2017, which is slated to launch worldwide on November 7 for the price of US$499.
But what’s exactly so special about it? Well, it’s only the most powerful console to be created of all time. Like ever.

xbox-one-x-gallery-1-1

Previously codenamed “Project Scorpio”, the Xbox One X will feature a host of major improvements over its predecessor, the Xbox One.
In terms of specs, this spiffy new console will run on an eye-opening six teraflops of graphical power, significantly higher than the PS4 Pro’s 4.2 teraflops. A custom GPU that runs at 1172 MHz is also crammed into what is now the world’s smallest Xbox.
Not impressed yet?
Then say hello to a massive 1TB of storage, the ability to play previous Xbox One and 360 titles, and a slick Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for 4K movies and entertainment – something even the PS4 Pro doesn’t support.

Design-wise, the Xbox One X isn’t the best-looking video game console of all time, with its rigid-looking boxy shape.
But who cares about that, right? Gameplay is going to be good over here. Fans can look forward to graphically-enhanced games that are able to take advantage of the Xbox One X’s powerful hardware, such as Forza Motosport 7, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and Metro: Exodus.

Rainbow Hair Gets a Mesmerising Update With This New Marbling Technique

As millennials living in a thoroughly hipster-ed out culture, it’s safe to say that we can all appreciate a good marble print. Whether it’s slapped on a phone case, laptop sleeve, a pair of shoes, some makeup brushes, blushes, or even on our lips, there’s no denying its subtle sophistication that makes it so aesthetically on point. Lucky for us, we’re about to get more trending marble, but this time, it’s teamed up with another millennial favourite: rainbow-coloured tresses.

Ash Fortis, a hairstylist based in Virginia Beach, drew inspiration from gorgeous marble prints and made it her signature hair-colouring technique. She tells Allure, “Nail art is a huge influence of mine, so I thought, How can I bring it to hair?” Over the past couple of years, the dye maestro learned to perfect the art of hair marbling, and believe us, you’ll wanna take a look at her unique approach because it’s mesmerising AF.

When you step outside of your comfort zone your stepping into your greatness. Tag someone who inspires you!!! 💗💗#hairmarbling

A post shared by AshFortis Va Beach Hairstylist (@xostylistxo) on

We’ve seen every iteration of the rainbow trend in the past (and we mean EVERY), which is why this technicoloured technique is a breath of fresh air in that department. First, she applies a layer of shaving cream onto foam mesh strips known as Embee Meche, a washable and reusable alternative to foil. She then drips several complementary shades of vivid hair dyes from Pulp Riot right on top of it before swirling figure-8 shapes using the back of her colour brush to create a marble-esque design. Next, she imprints the design onto a tiny section of bleached hair and places a clear layer of Embee Meche on top.

We’re completely in love with the results, to be honest. What you get with this technique is a finish that stands out from other basic rainbow hair (exactly, rainbow hair is basic now) looks that have taken over our feeds. But right now, there’s something else to worry about – we seem to have fallen down a rabbit hole that is the #hairmarbling tag on Instagram. Send help, ASAP.

Brace Yourself: Jeffree Star’s Summer Collection Is Finally Here

Ever since Jeffree Star teased his all-new chrome collection for this year’s Summer we’ve been wanting to know when exactly will his brand be launching the entire trunk of metallic goodness. Then he had to continue toying with our hearts with this one beautiful rosy terracotta shade called Calabasas, which he used during a video tutorial — and since then it was impossible to stop pining for the launch date. Can you even believe all that happened just last month? As a friend very accurately pointed out, “these beauty influencers really know how to work their marketing tactics so bloody well,” — and we fully concur.

The full Summer Collection reveal

This June, Jeffree Star will be releasing his biggest collection yet — consisting of 8 Velour Liquid Lipsticks (that has the most amazing formula, hand over heart), 5 Lip Ammunition, 2 Skin Frosts and 3 new Lip Scrub flavours. They are all perfectly wearable shades, with beach-ready nudes and sunset mauves. And of course not forgetting the token over-the-top brights, ala Jeffree’s very over-the-top style.

A post shared by TRENDMOOD (@trendmood1) on

Of course, the standout shades for us have got the be the nudes (the irony, yes). There’s Butt Naked, a peachy pink beige that’s a smidgen lighter than the existing Mannequin shade, and Hunty, a warm beige caramel hue should you prefer a colour that’s more inclined towards the brown side of things. And as mentioned earlier on, Calabasas is another favourite, coming in at a luscious burnt cranberry hue. The more adventurous might want to take their pick between Venus Flytrap, a bright lime green, and/or You Better Work, a luxurious red-based violet. There are six mattes and two metallics in the Velour Liquid Lipstick collection, and they will have a candied strawberry scent.

A post shared by TRENDMOOD (@trendmood1) on

The Lip Ammunition set comes with five satin-finish bullet lipsticks. They do dry down matte, but have more of a creamy texture than the fully transfer-proof ones like the line’s liquid lipsticks. There are more nudes in this collection, which is always a good idea — but we’ve got our eye on Star Witness, a pinky coral with hints of orange in it.

A post shared by TRENDMOOD (@trendmood1) on

Jeffree’s makeup lineup is also pretty darn famous for his highlighters, and the summer collection will have two new frosty glitters for popping cheekbones. Summer Snowcone is a pale yellow with gold shifts, that’ll look especially gorgeous with a beach tan. Crystal Ball, on the other hand, is close to an icy white with a pink cast — which will go very well on the paler folk.

A post shared by TRENDMOOD (@trendmood1) on

The collection comes to a close with three new Lip Scrub flavours, namely Watermelon Gum, Blue Raspberry Sucker and Orange Soda. No one’s going to wear a matte lip without proper exfoliation, yes?
Prices start from US$12 for a Lip Scrub to US$195 for the JSC Lipstick Vault, that comes with all eight Velour Liquid Lipsticks and five Lip Ammunition. The entire collection will be available on June 24 at jeffreestarcosmetics.com, 10 a.m. PST (June 25 2 a.m. SGT).

Hard Rock Cafe Celebrates 46 Years with Burgers Under $20

There are great restaurants, but there are also legendary ones. Hard Rock Cafe, without a doubt, belongs to the latter category. Way back in 1971, when founders Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton opened up a simple eatery in Piccadilly, London, all they wanted was a place that served good American burgers.
Fast-forward 46 years and a donated Eric Clapton guitar set, and that eatery has transformed into the classic burger chain we all know and love today. To celebrate Hard Rock Cafe’s almost half-a-century birthday, the company will be launching a special one-day-only burger promo of “Legendary” burgers at $19.71 (the price should be quite obvious, no?)

“Legendary” Burger, going for $19.71 on June 14, 2017

And these “Legendary” burgers are nothing short of mouthwatering. The burger consists of a certified patty that’s slapped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, a golden onion ring, lettuce and tomato, all smacked right in between a fluffy brioche bun. Of course, there’ll be Hard Rock’s seasoned fries as well.
But what’s even better is that selected signature cocktails are also available at $19.71, so there’s no excuse not to knock back a tipple or two. If variety is what you’re after, Hard Rock has other affordably priced burgers that range from $21 to $28. Whatever the case may be; Hard Rock’s birthday celebration is going to be a blast. Just don’t forget to leave space for dessert!

Why You Need to Switch Out Your Chemical Sunscreen for a Physical One

By now, we’re well aware that there’s a dark side to the sun, which is why all of us here at NYLON are pro-sunscreen through and through. Okay, not all of us. In fact, I might be alone on this… In any case, for those who slather on sunscreen daily like it’s non-negotiable, you’ve probably heard that there’s a difference between chemical and physical sunscreens, and that both categories have their advantages.
“Physical sunscreens?” a fellow colleague (the same one who doesn’t use a facial cleanser *cough* Joel *cough*) asked. I answered, “Sunscreens with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.” Only to be met with a defeated response, “You lost me at sunscreens.” So allow me to break it down for you guys today.
Let’s get physical, physical 🎶 I wanna get physical, physical 🎶 Let’s get into physical 🎶
Okay, chemical sunscreens use active ingredients that absorb UV radiation to prevent them from penetrating into the skin. However, these chemical filters will gradually break down and release heat, which is why it doesn’t always perform well on sensitive skin. The most common ingredients that define a chemical sunscreen are oxybenzone, avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octinoxate.
When pitted against the formulas of physical ones, chemical filters can give a better look and feel to a sunscreen because they sink into the skin quickly and dry clear. However, some studies have shown that they’re capable of disrupting our hormones, which is a terrible thing to unearth. Physical sunscreens, on the other hand, contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, two mineral UV filters that reflect, scatter, and block sun rays instead of absorbing them. Their biggest drawback though, is that they can leave a white cast on the skin, which is why most people avoid them.
Perhaps the final, most important difference to note is that chemical UV filters can only protect the skin against UVA or UVB rays – so it’s one or the other, never both. Meanwhile, physical UV filters are able to fend off both UVA and UVB rays at the same time. It’s pretty easy to see which type of sunscreen is better, right? Bottomline: if your skin reacts to everything under the sun, or if you’re simply looking for a cleaner sunscreen with less troubling ingredients, then do yourself a favour and pick up a physical formula.
Here, we’ve culled some of the best physical sunscreens on the market.
