The Upcoming BECCA Light Chaser Highlighter is Out to Hypnotise

We think it’s safe to say that BECCA Cosmetics offers some of the best highlighters out there. Following the successful launch of cult-favourite, Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter in Prismatic Amethyst and with the BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette receiving positive response, BECCA Cosmetics is hitting a home run with their upcoming Light Chaser Highlighters and Liquid Crystal Lip Topper Glow Glosses series. We know, it’s quite a mouthful. And don’t say we didn’t warn ya, this series is coming soon in early June, which is REAL soon.

A post shared by Kerry Cole (@kerrycole15) on

Is it just us or do the Light Chasers sound like an illuminating weapon, like lightsabers but for beauty gurus? We can already imagine how the unboxing of this treasure will look like: the glistening light that shines on your face, blinding your eyes as you slowly open that compact casing while an angelic choir magically appears behind you, singing an intense classical tune. Yes, it’s going to be that dramatic.
According to Kerry Cole, global style director of Becca Cosmetics, the new Light Chaser Highlighters consist of a kaleidoscopic formula that shifts shades as it catches the light which promises “hypnotising colour luminosity with a metamorphic finish”, or, in other words, an other-worldly glow. It’s also note-worthy that these don’t just serve as highlighters, they can also be applied on the eyelids and with a wet brush, you get metallic eyeliners! It’s always a plus point when beauty products have multiple forms of usage since you get two products for the price of one! And with these, they can be used in three different ways. Named after gemstones, the Light Chaser Highlighters come in the following shades: Pearl Flashes Gold, Rose Quartz Flashes Seashell, Champagne Dream Flashes Bellini, Opal Flashes Jade, Amethyst Flashes Geode and Topaz Flashes Gilt.

From left to right: Light Chaser Highlighter for Face & Eye in Amethyst Flashes Geode and Topaz Flashes Gilt, Liquid Crystal Lip Topper Glow Gloss in Amethyst X Geode and Topaz X Gilt.

A kaleidoscope of gem-packed highlighters and lip glosses.

But wait a minute. We know BECCA for their illuminating highlighters that leave our cheeks poppin’, but the cosmetic brand hasn’t really upped their lip game as much. So when we heard that BECCA was coming up with something shimmery to drench our pouts in, we’re sure as hell excited for that. The Lip Toppers come in shades that match the colours of the Light Chaser Highlighters – Pearl X Gold, Rose Quartz X Seashell, Champagne Dream X Bellini, Opal X Jade, Amethyst X Geode and Topaz X Gilt. These were the ingredients chosen to create the ultimate holographic glow lips! (Sorry, we just had to include the opening lines from Powerpuff Girls. It just feels appropriate.) With the kaleidoscopic-pearls found in the lip glow glosses, you can add some colour and dimension to your pout by coating over your lipstick or just wear it alone.

The price range for the products are currently not known and it’s only revealed to be available in early June exclusively at Sephora and BECCACosmetics.com. Let’s just pray that by Sephora, they mean it internationally. *Fingers crossed*

Why Boob Oil Is the Beauty Essential You Never Knew You Needed

Oh, Emma Watson… Reigning queen of green beauty (yeah, that’s right – move over Gwyneth). Earlier this year, the actress shared some of her favourite natural and organic beauty picks in an exclusive interview with Into The Gloss and she’s even credited them in the posts of The Press Tour’s Instagram account. Sure, there were a couple of products that required a little extra investigation, but under Imelda Burke’s influence, Emma has sure made a strong case for green beauty.

If you’re unfamiliar with Imelda Burke, she’s the founder of London’s coolest organic beauty store, Content Beauty & Wellbeing, author of The Nature of Beauty, and the person responsible for Emma’s holistic take on beauty. Turns out, Emma’s been frequenting the Content Beauty store for years before she was finally introduced to Imelda, and after a lunch date, Imelda became the Yoda to Emma’s young Padawan. It’s a tale as old as time, really.

So when the beauty guru revealed her current beauty favourites to Racked recently, we were all ears. Of course, all of her recommendations sounded a little similar to Emma’s, but it’s great to know that she’s a fan of ice facials and boob oils. Yup, you read that right. She uses a boob oil, specifically the Boobs’ Essential Oil, which she carries in her store. So, why on earth do we need a particular oil for our breasts? Imelda explains, “A cross between body oil and a health tracker, the Boobs’ Essential Oil encourages you to massage your breasts daily, which makes you familiar with them so that you can mentally track any changes.”

While the product did sound a little redundant initially, a quick boob massage is actually a simple and clever act that encourages women to check themselves on a regular basis as a prevention step for breast cancer. Not to mention, using an oil that smells great would help make the process that much more relaxing and pleasant. The sweet almond oil-based blend contains three other essential oils: frankincense, sandalwood, and myrrh, which gives it an intoxicating, mood-lifting scent. But since it’s relatively pricey for a tiny bottle, we’d suggest picking out cheaper alternatives like body oils, or you can even concoct a special oil blend yourself, if you’re in the mood to play chemist.

These Disco Lashes Are The New Essentials To Any Music Festival

We’re giving infinite nods of approval to uses of technology that take our favourite beauty accessories up a notch. Say hi to the first-of-its-kind LED-powered fake lashes that basically light up into a neon party on your peepers. We know, sounds almost insane right? But disco lashes — yes, that’s what we’re calling them now — are soon becoming the next big thing to don at your upcoming music festivals and club parties. It’s about time cultural appropriation took a step back (we’re serious here) and instead have the attention directed, in a more positive way, at your party peepers instead.

Now, as per all tech swag, these falsies, as nifty as they look, still require some sort of power source to keep them blinking neon all night long. The designer behind these F.Lashes, Tien Phan, showed that a battery pack has to be clipped to the back of your head via super thin wires, that apparently could only be seen if someone is close enough to kiss you. So that effectively eliminates any chances you looking like a destroyed Terminator — which honestly, isn’t that bad a look for a techno fest. But moving on: despite needing a battery pack, Phan ensures that these lashes still remain lightweight, and will not hinder any of your outrageous dance moves.
And that’s not even all. These disco lashes actually react to how you tilt or groove to the beat — that means as you get in the mood, two other modes will be activated: the Dance mode, where a strobe-light effect takes place to ensure that your lashes blink according to the song’s tempo, and Sparkle, where the lashes take the liberty of twinkling randomly like sparkly glitter.

There’s no special way to applying these lashes, all that’s needed is your usual lash glue and an amped up party mode. The disco lashes turn themselves on automatically *wink* and Phan mentioned that you won’t even realise when they’ve started blinking neon. They are that fluttery, just like actual falsies, but a hundred times more extra. Pick your poison — there are currently six shades available — in pink, red, blue, light blue, yellow and white. Just one question though Phan, where’s the rainbow version?
A small caveat applies: these lashes can only last for up to four hours, before the battery runs out. But fret not, should you be partying till dawn — these battery packs are easily replaceable so you can still keep your eyes looking extra sparkly all night long.
F.Lashes will be launching on Kickstarter in mid-July. Sign up here to be notified when they’re up.

Local Webstores That Are Changing the Landscape of Natural and Organic Beauty

Green beauty has seen a sharp spike in demand over the past year thanks to celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Watson, and more recently, Olivia Wilde, championing humble brands from all corners of the globe. With great hallmarks, though, come greater requests; and for natural beauty junkies like myself, there’s just never enough plant-powered products to go around. Lucky for us, getting our hands on a wildcrafted variety has never been breezier. From vegetable-infused facial cleansers to fruit-pigmented lipsticks, we’ve discovered a bumper crop of webstores in Singapore that’ll feed your need for more natural and organic beauty.

Bud Cosmetics

Let’s kick things off with my favourite beauty destination. Both online and in-store, Bud Cosmetics is overflowing with eco-friendly, guilt-free beauty goodies, carrying plenty of quality natural and organic brands that boast clean ingredient lists, with the likes of Juice Beauty, Dr. Alkaitis, OSKIAIntelligent NutrientsJohn Masters Organics, and 100% Pure. Not to mention, they also have a line of products for your tiny tots and pets. Yup, it’s pretty much a one-stop Mecca for the green beauty-obsessed.

100% Pure

Yes, Bud Cosmetics does carry items from this brand, but 100% Pure’s own online store offers a wider range of natural, cruelty-free, vegan beauty products that are chock-full of antioxidants, vitamins, and fruit pigments. True to its name, you won’t find any nasty chemicals and artificial fragrances in their lineup, which is why their products are perfect for those struggling to make peace with their sensitive, problematic skin. Having tested many products from this brand, my top picks would have to be the Super Fruits Healthy Foundation, their Fruit Pigmented Lip Glazes, and the most recent addition, the Super Fruits Concentrated Oil Serum, which I hear is being discontinued (please don’t cease production on this, I need it to be around till the day I die).

The Naturally Better Company

When your pay check’s finally come in (almost there) and you feel like treating yo’self to the crème-de-la-crème of natural beauty, browse The Naturally Better Company’s store for luxury skincare and makeup brands of the highest quality. RMS Beauty, Tata Harper, and ILIA Beauty may be the ones dominating the bestseller list at the moment (no surprises there), but the store also carries goods by May Lindstrom, buzzworthy Hawaiian label Leahlani Skincare, as well as one of the most decadent brands in green beauty, de Mamiel. The only gripe I have about this webstore is that they don’t display full ingredient lists for each product. It’d be really helpful if they did. After all, a single ingredient could take someone down to Rash Town all over again.

An Uplifted Day

While I was looking up a couple of products from minimalist skincare brand S.W. Basics, I came across this natural beauty webstore. And now, I’m incredibly tempted to make a rather hefty order (bye money), because I’ve just found out that An Uplifted Day also carries a good selection of Josh Rosebrook products. Each item in the store is specially vetted and selected based on what the team actually uses on the daily, and although they aren’t carrying too many brands at the moment, their founder sure has plans on expanding their collection in the near future.

Après Avant

French for “after before”, Après Avant’s not just a Singapore-based natural webstore, it’s also got an editorial section that provides a good amount of insight on holistic approaches to beauty, wellness, and lifestyle, which is awesome for those who enjoy interviews and educational features. The site’s got a well-curated retail area that sells products from brands like Tatcha, LilfoxLuxe Botanics, and even charcoal-infused deodorants from Kaia Naturals, which surprisingly, are rather effective for natural deodorants. The founder of Après Avant has also created a Clean Beauty Box, which allows you to try out product samples before committing to full-sized ones – a recommended first step for those who are new to the world of green beauty.

Pure Tincture

From mineral foundations by Alima Pure and nourishing lippies by Lily Lolo (THERE IS A SALE. $5 FOR A LIPSTICK, HOLY SH*T), to Suntegrity‘s popular 5-in-1 Tinted Sunscreen and gentle formulations from sensitive skin-approved brand Pai Skincare, there are plenty of options at Pure Tincture for organic enthusiasts. However, Pure Tincture is best known for their pampering facials using soothing products from Pai. Charis Naturals

It’s comforting to know that there are like-minded individuals out there who do a ton of research on the ins and outs of natural beauty products, which is why I appreciate Michelle’s webstore, Charis Naturals. The star of the show would have to be Kahina Giving Beauty, a brand that revolves around its key ingredient, argan oil, or as some would refer to as “Moroccan liquid gold”. But whatever you choose to call it, there’s no doubting its efficacy in smoothing out the skin as well as parched locks. Charis Naturals also stocks items from Blissoma, which is a brand that infuses its products with fresh herb extracts, juices, and cold-pressed seed oils to max out on its nutrient content.

Beauty Resources

I’ve raved about Jane Iredale‘s PureBrow Brow Gel in the past, but obviously, that’s not all the brand’s known for. Jane Iredale’s cosmetics serve as an extension of your skincare regime, which is why her products always aim to do much more than just sit on your face to make it look good. The brand uses concentrated pigments in pure minerals to conceal yet naturally illuminate the face, ideal replacements for makeup that’s struggling to stay put in these humid conditions.

Kate & Paul Organics

As I was doing a little research on Marie Veronique‘s products, I came across this gem of a webstore. I also found a decent selection of 100% Pure products, rare finds from Indie Lee, and good picks from Simplicité on their site. Japanese organic brand Aqua Cosmetics is a part of their curation too, and I’m pretty eager on testing out their brow pencil. And if you’re looking to educate yourself on a holistic approach to natural beauty, browse through their section dedicated to editorial blog posts. It’s also nice to know that I live close to their office too, so self-collection is a convenient option.

Naiise

If you often find yourself down in a rabbit hole that is the Naiise webstore, then you’d probably be familiar with homegrown natural beauty brands such as Handmade Heroes (two thumbs up for their Nourishing Rice Scrubs), Katfood, and ANIA Skincare. There’s actually a pretty large selection of local green goodies on the site that we’re totally proud of and will absolutely support. In fact, these brands have their individual webstores too, but if you’re thinking of getting a few items from each brand (which, you will), then feel free to add them to a single virtual cart on Naiise.

See Why The Gucci Cruise 2018 Show Was So Breathtaking

The Cruise season is sending fashion people all over the world, with Dior showcasing their resort collection at the Calabasas desert set in California, Chanel bringing it back to home soil in the most romantic city, Paris, Prada’s first solo cruise collection held at Milan where they first opened their doors, and Louis Vuitton enriching their guests with Japanese culture in Kyoto. Needless to say, every venue is spectacular, and the pressure is on for the next Cruise collection presentation. Held at Palatina Gallery of the Pitti Palace, we think it’s safe to say that Gucci has exceeded all expectations.

GUCCI CRUISE 18 FIRENZE 29 MAY 2017

The Location
The first to stage a show in this historic building, Gucci’s Cruise collection is not just about fashion. It is a celebration of the rich history and culture of the city of Florence, which holds a special meaning for Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, since he is constantly inspired by the city’s renaissance masterpieces. To preserve the rich heritage, Gucci announced that the brand will be partnering with Uffizi Gallery and the city itself on a multi-faceted cultural project called “Primavera di Boboli”, or Spring in the Boboli Gardens by contributing €2 million over the course of 3 years to help restore and improve the green space, retaining the legacy for future generations. A look at the show’s venue already had us marveling over the intricacies of the European paintings, we can’t imagine being there in person – we’ll probably just want to pack our bags and never want to leave Florence.

The Full Package
When it comes to fashion shows, it doesn’t just stop at the choice of a ravishing location. Most luxury fashion brands go all out to provide their guests with the ultimate show experience and the package is not complete without custom-made gifts that act as the invites to the show. For the Gucci Cruise 2018 invite, every guest gets a personalised cap made of hemp appliquéd with an embroidered butterfly and stamped with the time and location of all three Cruise collections that Alessandro Michele designed.

The Attendees
Good friend and muse of Alessandro Michele, Jared Leto, turned up for the show in a pink velvet robe, yellow jersey pants and metallic high-tops. Elton John is also seen taking the front row seat during the presentation. Other celebrities included in the guest list – Dakota Johnson, Kirsten Dunst, Salma Hayek and Beth Ditto with Devonté Hynes aka Blood Orange taking over Gucci’s Instagram account.

The Collection
Finally, the highlight. The show went into full throttle when the models walked down the runway, or should we say, through the seven separated rooms in the palace. First things first, this collection is a burst of an eclectic mix of bright vibrant colours, of course also featuring their signature red and green colourway. We’re talking yellow, green, purple, pink and orange, a wide spectrum of contrasting colours, really. Against the backdrop of Renaissance paintings by Titian, Raphael Perugino and more, the show opened with a green blouse cinched at the waist with a pink satin belt, contrasted with a pair of deep blue trousers with hints of orange. While the collection features the iconic double Gs found throughout the collection from tights, socks to coats and on graphic slogan tees, the detailed dragon and tiger embroideries and immaculate details were dedicated towards the accessories – the pearl embellished headpiece and gilded laurels – keeping audiences’ eyes peeled for more Gucci goodness. Quilted puffer jackets and pants are also seen on the models, with metallics making an appearance in between looks.

Adidas Gives The Stan Smith The "Camo" Treatment

It goes without saying that the Stan Smith will always be best known for its clean, minimalist aesthetic, but Adidas has also been recently experimenting with more unconventional designs to ensure that the silhouette stays fresh and relevant in the ever-changing sneaker game. After draping the shoe in a paddle pop-esque colourway and giving it an embroidery-covered “Summer” makeover, the brand with the three stripes is now aiming for a streetwear aesthetic with its latest “Camo” iteration, and if the massive hype surrounding last year’s camo-covered BAPE x Adidas NMD was any indication, these are going to be a pretty big deal.

Stan01 Stan02

Much like the “Summer” before it, the Stan Smith’s leather upper has been replaced with canvas for a more casual feel, and is draped in a dark green camo print that adds a welcome layer of attitude to the traditionally inconspicuous silhouette. The heel tab, on the other hand, rocks a white crocodile textured leather for a nice bit of contrast, and considering how graphic-heavy the top half is it makes sense that the sole remains white to even things out. Camo isn’t exactly the most versatile of looks, but if you’re looking for a statement piece that doesn’t go overboard, these kicks definitely fit the bill.
Stan03 Stan04

The adidas Originals Stan Smith “Camo” is available right now, and can be bought online at select Adidas stockists such as Feature for a surprisingly affordable US$85. We personally don’t think that the Stan Smith will ever go out of style, but if Adidas wants to keep releasing more wishlist-worthy versions of one our favourite silhouettes, we’re not going to complain.

A Seoul Photo Diary: Natalia Ng

Of course the fashion capitals of New York, London, Paris and Milan are wonderful – but if we were to be honest, it’s Seoul Fashion Week that holds a more special place in our hearts. Perhaps it’s a proximity thing, or maybe it’s how the citizens of Seoul seem to be so adept at dressing up (even when it’s not fashion week season), so the street style snaps are always so much fun to look at.
The most recent edition earlier this year saw more than 58 fashion shows take place over 5 days, most at the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, which had over 80,000 visitors over the week. One of them was Natalia Ng, singer and actress who’s now based in Singapore. Already a familiar face in her home country of Malaysia, with a Mandarin single – complete with music video – under her belt, Natalia will be spending a lot more time in Singapore now, after landing a role in the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians, which will begin production soon.
As to which crazy rich Asian she’ll be playing, that’s still under wraps, but we’ll definitely be seeing more of her real soon. For now, here’s her photo diary from her time at Seoul Fashion Week, where she blended right in with Korea’s stylish set with vibrant ensembles combining luxury pieces and high street labels from around the region. To see more of Natalia, she’s also featured in Editing Beauty II, by NYLON Singapore‘s Editor-in-Chief Adele Chan, where she shares her entire beauty regime.

This Rumoured Thrasher x Vans Collaboration is Straight Up Fire

If you’ve been keeping up with streetwear trends recently, you probably already know that skateboarding magazine Thrasher and its signature flame logo is one of the hottest — pun totally intended — looks that you can rock right now (based on the number of thrasher tees we see on our Instagram explore page, it looks like everyone got the memo). So far the brand’s aesthetic has been limited to apparel, but according to Italian magazine IOBI it looks like Thrasher might soon be entering the sneaker game, and they’re bringing none other than fellow skate brand Vans along for the ride as well.

A post shared by IOBI Mag (@iobimag) on

The IOBI Instagram page currently only has two photos of this potential collaboration, but those two photos are evidence enough that this partnership is a match made in streetwear heaven — the vibrant yellow / red colour scheme of the Thrasher logo goes perfectly with the black of the Vans Slip-On, so much so that the sneaker calls it a day right then and there without adding anything else. The Sk8-Hi iteration follows the same design philosophies for an equally stylish look, and throws in a red stripe around the midsole for a nice touch of detailing. We here at Nylon admittedly aren’t particularly fond of the Thrasher brand (it’s become a little too mainstream, if you ask us), but we’d be lying if we said that we didn’t want to cop a pair of these for ourselves.
There’s currently no word from either side on when these sneakers will be released — heck, the possibility of this collaboration actually happening is little more than rumour at this point — but based on what we’ve seen it’d be a real waste if these two brands didn’t partner up, and we have a feeling that they know that too. We’ve seen our fair share of unexpected team up’s over the years, but when it comes to Thrasher and Vans, everything seems to make perfect sense, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that it’ll soon become a reality.

The Workout Tights That Actually Help Your Muscles Function Better

Admit it, girls: half the fun in working out lies in building your workout wardrobe. You know it – those cute tights and sports bras that we all love to keep buying more and more of, but for some of us, wearing it to an actual workout session is a whole other matter altogether.
If you’re one of those who actually does sweat in your workout gear, kudos to you 👏 No judgment if you don’t, and we can all do with more cute activewear anyway, so we’ll take today to introduce one that you might not have heard of. Lorna Jane is already an established brand in its home country of Australia, and its founder, Lorna Jane Clarkson herself, has been designing activewear since 1989, in an era when the term “activewear” was far from even being coined yet.
We got acquainted with the brand recently, which has a Singapore online store in addition to a showroom at Ann Siang, and we found that it stocks a very impressive quantity of workout tops, sports bras, tights and an assortment of other accessories like bags and bottles. The styles are quite varied, ranging from the standard black/white/grey to neons and pastels, as well as slogan tops and loud prints.

When it comes to the classic black tights, we guess you could purchase one anywhere, and for cheap – but if you’re really serious about getting a pair that can keep up, Lorna Jane’s iconic Active Core Stability tights feature the brand’s proprietary technology, the LJ Active Core Stability™, which is found in the LJ Excel™ fabric these tights, and many of the other pieces, are made in. The magic’s in the power mesh and waistband, which helps better support your core muscles during physical activity while still feeling comfortable, with a bit of a firming effect to boot.

Considering that Lorna Jane is someone who’s 52 years old and still rocking some very fine washboard abs, the gear she’s designed in her name must at least be doing something right. We just found our new motivation for finally dusting off that yoga mat we’ve left to rot in the corner of the room.

This lady is in her fifties, guys.

Lorna Jane, US$9.99 to US$185.99. Available on lornajane.sg, zalora.sg and at the Lorna Jane showroom at 4 Ann Siang Hill #01-01, TANGS, and selected yoga studios.

Get Your Designer Shoe Fix For Much Less

You’ve probably been eyeing those shoes on the runway shows worn by fashionable bloggers, celebrities and street style stars. You take a screenshot and favourited them. And then you browse through Net-a-porter, adding those shoes to your virtual shopping cart BUT you ain’t got the money to buy them all. Bummer. So what do you do? Don’t just sit there and wallow in tears…get cracking and look for the next best alternative: the less expensive versions of those luxury shoes! Our solution, you guessed it, Zara. Our go-to fast fashion retailer that never fails to keep us up to date with high-fashion’s latest trends. So we thought that we should highlight some of the key shoe trends that you should look out for the next time you head to Zara. Without further ado, here’s a compilation of every it-girl’s must-haves:
Pearl embellished shoes:
As seen on Gucci and Miu Miu, pearls are adorned everywhere, from accessories to bags and of course, shoes. What’s not to love about milky pearlescent balls? These shoes are definitely a statement piece that will instantly upgrade the look of any outfit. We would style them with a simple outfit so they take center stage or pair them with a tweed jacket. Tweed and pearls ALWAYS go together.

All things satin:
Satin is one of 2017’s biggest trends and while a pair of Gianvito Rossi satin sandals can set you back at $800, get yours from Zara for only $80. Given the silkiness of the satin material itself, it already looks expensive. These sandals are perfect for the beach and especially since summer holidays are finally kicking in, it’s a legit excuse to get yourself a pair.

V-neck detail:
Not a fan of V-neck t-shirts? Well, they are moving on to heels and we are absolutely loving it. Not only is it modern and classy, it actually has a slimming effect on the feet. Big brand names such as Céline, Stella McCartney and Lanvin all have pumps with the v-neck cut so these are definitely going into our shopping cart.

silver metallic vcut golden vcut mules

Slingback kitten heels:
Yes yes, I’m sure you’ve seen the oh so famous J’dior slingback heels and the classic Chanel slingbacks all over Instagram. So easy to slip on and goes well with any outfit from jeans to formal wear, slingbacks are an essential for the confident woman.

Scrunchies:
Is it a ballet pump or is it a scrunchie heel? Whatever it’s called, we want one! They look feminine and elegant without giving you the blisters. The Céline one’s are perfect but we’ve got bills to pay, sister! Instead, opt for Zara’s gathered leather heels or these stretch sneakers:
scrunchies white blue scrunchie

Jewel-embellished sneakers:
As mentioned earlier, satin is one of the hottest trends right now. Add jewels onto it and you might just feel like a queen. Roger Vivier’s Sneaky Viv’ in Silk is on everyone’s wishlist but till our imaginary big fat paycheck comes in, Zara also offers a variety of satin and jewel combo shoes ranging from heels to sneakers and even those that incorporate the slingback trend!

With the launch of Zara’s online store in Singapore, it’s so much easier to scroll through the endless designs of shoes they offer. Well, take it easy and don’t burn a hole in your wallet, girls!

Here's How You Can Try Out This Smokey Peach Hair Trend

So, by now it should already be peachy darn clear that peach is indeed the new black. It’s a punchy colour that goes well with all skin tones, allows one to stay along the more conservative side of things, and can also be brought up a notch for the folks who prefer to experiment and play with colours. For us, we are absolutely in love with a classic everyday peachy keen look that’s a tad more fun than a basic brown, yet still wearable enough without having to battle curious stares on public transport.

The more adventurous ones, who are not content with just a (smoked out) peachy eye look, however, might want to give the latest trend on the block a whirl — the smokey peach hair. Just like how you’d create a sultry smokey eye, the sibling hair trend follows the same style. What creator and hairstylist Glam Iris did is this: She dyed the roots of her client’s hair a dark, diffused grey, followed by a vibrant shade of tangerine, and then a lighter shade of peach towards the ends.

A post shared by Shelby Rae (@hairvvitch) on

It’s a pretty low maintenance ‘do, considering how there’s no need for your roots to be bleached, so that ought to save your scalp some misery. The multi-hued hairstyle does require you to go blonde throughout the rest of your mane though, but hey, peach is still something different from the rose golds and lilacs that we’re so used too. We’re calling it — hurry and hop on the trend before it becomes yet another basic colour too!
And if you’re (peachy) keen on trying out the colour, we do have some temporary hair dye options that you might want to consider, before fully committing your mane to a head of permanent blorange:

Get Acquainted With the Brand Behind Korea's Cult-Favourite Cleansing Stick

If you’re a lazy individual who loves a quick K-beauty solution, then you’re probably familiar with Su:m37° – their Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick, in particular. Its solid form is reminiscent of a giant stick of lip balm, which makes it the perfect cleanser to travel with. And for many a sloth, it was love at first swipe. One reviewer even declared, “THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME USING A CLEANSING STICK AND I LIKE IT AFTER USING IT MY SKIN WAS SOFT NOT TIGHT AND DRY.”
We’re hardly surprised by these loud first impressions, though. Over 90% of its formulation is made with natural ingredients, and there’s even tiny flecks of rose petals in there to prove just how natural it is. It’s got sunflower, coconut, and camellia oils in there to nourish your skin as it whisks away impurities, but the star of the show is undoubtedly its fermented damask rose extract, and fermentation is exactly what Su:m37° specialises in. It’s also nice to know that the skincare brand keeps its products free from artificial colours, fragrances, parabens, and synthetic preservatives, since it’s news that’ll make someone with skin as reactive as mine heave a sigh of relief.

Su:m37° has its very own Natural Fermentation Research Institute (NFRI) located in Gangwon-do, a mountainous and forested region located in the north-eastern area of South Korea, where they manufacture their products. The essence that goes into every Su:m37° product is known as Cystosis, and it’s derived from myriads of local plant extracts that have been fermented and aged in cedar barrels under an optimum temperature of 37°C, which would explain the otherwise random number in the brand’s name.
Now, this cult-favourite Korean beauty brand is finally making its way down to Singapore. Here are our top 3 picks you need to try as soon as they make their debut locally.
secret essence 시크릿 에센스 80ml
Su:m37° Secret Essence
$108 for 80ml

The Secret Essence is one that rivals SK-II’s, as its star ingredient Cystosis is essential in rebuilding and strengthening the skin against external stressors and pollution. Plenty of skincare junkies have already touted its efficacy in upping hydration levels, boosting firmness and evening out skin tone after two weeks of continuous use. So obviously, you’re gonna wanna pick this miraculous concoction up as soon as you can.
Water-full Timeless Water Gel Cream 50ml 워터-풀 타임리스 워터 젤 크림 50ml
Su:m37° Water-full Timeless Water Gel Cream
$108 for 50ml

Used in traditional Tibetan medicine, the Water-full Timeless Water Gel Cream contains Saussurea (fermented snow lotus) to calm angry skin, while bamboo sap and fermented fruit water replenishes parched, dehydrated skin. But its formula isn’t the only thing that’s impressive – the ingenious packaging features a magnetic top, so you won’t misplace the tiny spatula and you’ll be able to keep it germ-free too. Not to mention, it just makes the whole Hanbok-shaped jar look even more elegant.

Bright Award Bubble De Mask 브라이트 어워드 버블-디 마스크 100ml
Su:m37° Bright Award Bubble de Mask
$67 for 100ml

If your skin’s feeling a little… meh, then this is something you’ll enjoy putting on. Leave this creamy mask on your face for a few minutes and watch it start bubbling up. It releases oxygen bubbles to draw out impurities embedded deep within your pores, giving you a brighter complexion by detoxing it from down under. It looks pretty funny once it’s completely bubbled up too, so feel free to take as many selfies as you’d like.
Su:m37°, available at Tangs Vivo City from 1 June and Tangs Orchard from 21 July.

The Adidas Turbular Viral 2 "Icey Pink" is a Minimalist Masterpiece

Adidas has never been one to shy away from graphic-heavy designs — sneakers like the floral-covered Adi-Ease and polka dotted NMDs should be evidence enough of that — but we can all probably agree that the brand with the three stripes still does it best when they stick to a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Silhouettes like the Stan Smith and Superstar have become as iconic as they are because of that exact “less is more” philosophy, and it looks like the Turbular Viral 2 is now trying to recreate that success with its latest “Icey Pink” colourway.

Adidas01

We’re not sure if this is intentional, but thanks to its all mesh upper and sleek form factor, the Turbular Viral 2 looks like Adidas’ answer to the Nike Roshe, which — considering how popular those shoes are — isn’t a bad thing at all. Playing it safe, the sneaker is draped in an always-in-trend light pink, and instead of the traditional three stripes on the side these kicks rock three triangles for a modern aesthetic that we’re definitely digging. The upper is topped off with a chunky heel tab with Adidas branding, while the lower half opts for a simple all-white EVA midsole to create a sporty look that’s sure to be statement piece in your athleisure ensemble.

The women’s exclusive adidas Originals Turbular Viral 2 “Icey Pink” is available right now, and can be bought online at select Adidas stockists such as Titolo for US$130. Everyone should (ideally) have a pair of Stan Smiths and / or Superstars in their sneaker rotations, and if you’re looking to expand your minimalist options beyond that, these kicks are definitely one worth considering.

The New KoKo Collection By Kylie Cosmetics Has The Brand's First Ever Face Palette

When we say that the youngest Jenner sister sure isn’t slowing down when it comes to um, getting us to surrender our paychecks to her booming cosmetics line, we actually mean it. It’s as if the KKW x Kylie Cosmetics wasn’t enough (spoiler alert: never), the beauty mogul had to drop yet another sibling collaboration right after her quad of new nude crème formulas sold out, in a finger snap at that.

5/31 #koko 😍

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

The Koko Collection Part 2 is a whole new series of lipsticks shades and an additional surprise palette (more on that later) that we’re guessing is currently driving the Internet nuts. As usual, the sisters nailed the colour selection, again — this time with more mauves and brights. We’re crushing on Doll, a bright tangerine shade that’s borderline neon — yet still something that’d we’d gladly match with a white tee and a pair of ankle-cut jeans. Then there’s Bunny, a muted purple tone that has been making a mark for itself in recent months as a wearable mauve. Baby Girl is a classic salmon pink that’s likely to pop against most skin tones, and Sugar Plum, a peachy champagne gloss.

Now that we’ve gotten the lipsticks out of the way, it’s finally time for the main course of the collection — the four-shade pressed powder palette that is a first from Kylie Cosmetics. She’s been pushing the boundaries of makeup recently, releasing new formulas and products in the short span of five months this year, and this face palette is something that we’ve all been anticipating. There are two highlighters, a blush and a bronzer. Both highlighters seem to be of a shimmery duo-chrome nature, while the blush and bronzer remain matte. If anything like her current formulas, these face powders are likely to go on sheer, just like how Kylie wears them — but still build-able all the same.
The second KoKo Collection will go live on kyliecosmetics.com on May 31, at 3pm PST (6am SGT on Jun 1).

This Guy Makes Some Amazing Dresses For Barbie Dolls… Using Just Tissue Paper

The world’s largest male Barbie collector is at it again. And by largest, we mean the size of his doll collection, not him as a person (thought we’d clarify that).

So Mr Yang has been featured numerous times in the press with regard to his extensive Barbie doll collection (it’s amazing – see here, here and here); and according to his Instagram he’s currently on a business trip in Sri Lanka. He has with him two of his Barbie dolls, and as he says, “limited resources”. Meaning, no outfits for his poor little fashion dolls that just want to play dress up all day. What does one do? In Mr Yang’s case, he turns to Kleenex. And it looks like it’s even just two-ply!

He starts off with tissue paper dresses:

Those pleats are incredible!

Then when he’s stuck in his hotel room because of a storm….

Here he “upgrades” from Kleenex to paper hand towels that he found in the bar’s toilet.

His simple designs are strangely elegant.

He goes on to create more dresses we can see ourselves actually wearing!

And of course, some that only Barbie can pull off…

Mr Yang takes inspiration from his location…

He even brings in the hotel he’s staying at into Barbie’s narrative!

You’d think he would run out of ideas by now…

But no…. his designs get more elaborate!

Now he’s just showing off…
