The PUMA Suede Heart Gets Draped in Two New Pastel Colourways

From the Rihanna-designed Fenty Bow Sneaker to the recently-unveiled Prevail Heart, PUMA has been consistently releasing a slew of ribbon-equipped kicks in recent months, but no matter how many new models there are we’ll always have a soft spot for the silhouette that started it all: the Suede Heart. The OG ribbon sneaker seems to have taken a backseat to make way for its successors, but it looks like the German sportswear brand is showing it some overdue love with the release of two new wishlist-worthy colourways…yup, ribbon season definitely isn’t going away anytime soon.

Puma01 Puma02

When compared to some of the more recent ribbon silhouettes, the Suede Heart is downright rudimentary in its design — to put it simply, the sneaker is a regular PUMA Suede with oversized laces slapped on top, but to make up for that these kicks have been draped in an always-trendy “Coral Cloud” pink as well as a lilac-esque “Halogen Blue” that we previously saw on the Prevail Heart. Metallic bronze accents on the side and tongue provide a nice touch of detailing, and the lower half sports an off-white sole to round out a look that proves that the Suede Heart can still hang with the big boys.
Puma03 Puma04

The PUMA Suede Heart “Coral Cloud” and “Halogen Blue” are available right now, and can be bought online from select PUMA retailers such as OFFICE for £65 (Limited Edt did stock previous colourways of the Suede Heart, so it might be worth keeping tabs on them as well). That’s almost half the price of the satin-covered Fenty Bow Sneaker, so if you want to get in on the ribbon trend without breaking the ban, the Suede Heart is looking like a very viable alternative right about now.

Here Are The Best Lightweight Concealers From The Drugstore

For someone who doesn’t particularly have aggravated dark eye circles and/or serious blemish marks to cover, I’m not that much of a snob when it comes to concealer. It’s quite a blessing, I’ll admit that. Because I only need a small amount of coverage, a heavy-duty concealer isn’t necessary — and I get my wallet-friendly ones straight from the drugstore. You’d be surprised at how well these concealers can actually perform.
Reviews by Chelsea Tang
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

9058967453726

This is the current one that I’m using, and I have to say I’m pretty darn impressed. Most drugstore concealers have the tendency to be yellow-based (for some reason…) and for someone that has a cool skin undertone it’s always a treat whenever I manage to find concealers that go on slightly pinker. The Wake Me Up by Rimmel blends in really well with my skin tone, and actually covers up blemish scars and faint dark eye circles quite beautifully. It goes on lightweight and layers well.
$12.90, available at selected Watsons stores.

L’Oreal True Match Concealer

781946c4-e72f-481e-87ae-18ff731952df_1.54631996ce115c2430023cca04f67aab

Another concealer that caters to the cool-toned, this concealer is actually on the higher-end of the drugstore spectrum. But hey, you get what you pay for — this one is of an ultra lightweight formula that blends out incredibly easily without settling into fine lines. It isn’t the best at covering up acne scars because of how blend-able it is, though. Ironic, yes.
$19.90, available at Watsons and Guardian stores.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

Maybelline-Concealer-Instant-Age-Rewind-Dark-Circles-Fair-041554259247-C

When I first laid eyes on this concealer I skipped past it immediately, because “Age Rewind” does sound like a product that’s meant for slightly mature skin. But after watching Tati (GlamLifeGuru) and other YouTubers rave about it over and over again, I decided to give it a go and boy, was it impressive. Formulated with goji berries and haloxyl, the product literally erases away dark eye circles and reduces puffiness. The only reason why I stopped using it was because I didn’t quite like the dome puff that can get quite… unhygienic.
$19.90, available at Watsons and Guardian stores.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand

2215590

My first ever concealer was from NYX, purely because of how crazy inexpensive it is. 10 dollars! I brought it home, only to realise that it fared pretty well on makeupalley.com, scoring a solid 3.8/5. The formula does go on lightweight, and after blending out you barely feel like there’s anything under your eyes. My only gripe with it is that the concealer oxidises. Fast. So you have to work with nimble movements when applying it — also, once it sets, it doesn’t budge.
$10, available at NYX stores, Sephora and sephora.sg.

ZA Perfect Fit Concealer

fig_face_perfect_fit_concealer

I’ve always thought that ZA never had a concealer because of how unassuming the packaging looks. It does look more like an eyelid primer than a concealer, yes? A friend of mine recommended this when I was asking for suggestions for a lightweight drugstore concealer (and debating between this and the L.A Girl Pro Concealer, too). The formula does go on very similarly to the Rimmel one, but I had to give mine away because it was too yellow for me to work with.
$13.90, available at Watsons and Guardian stores.

Revlon Colourstay Liquid Concealer

2253049

Okay, so I don’t actually own this one, but I did borrow it from my friend once when I forgot to pack concealer along (I know… blasphemous) to our two-day staycation. It was lightweight yes, and did cover up acne scars and slight dark eye circles pretty well, but once again was too yellow for my skin tone. There wasn’t any creasing after blending the product out, which is great.
$20.90, available at Watsons and Guradian stores.

Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer

8964440784926

The ONE concealer that I truly enjoyed, hand over heart, was this one by UK brand Collection. Their Lasting Perfection Concealer won them multiple rave reviews, over and over, and I snagged one up for myself when I was in London. It was possibly one of the best decisions made and the worst. I should’ve picked up five instead. The colour match was perfect, the formula lightweight enough to not feel heavy under the eyes, and the coverage a 10-10-would-bang. Only a tiniest bit of it is required and I was devastated when I had to throw the tube away when it’s all used up. I even scraped the barrel clean of product, too.
£4.19, available at Boots or Superdrug stores in the U.K.

The Hairstyles That Work With Oily Hair

Let’s face it. In sunny and humid Singapore, with all that sweating, there are going to be days where your hair starts to get greasy into the night even though you had taken a shower in the morning. Worse still, there’s a party to attend to at night. How can you salvage your hair crisis? Fret not, here are some hairstyles that actually work for greasy hair.
You’ve probably seen Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Jennifer Lopez pulling off the slicked back hair look. It would be great to have a personal hair guru to make sure our hair falls perfectly into place, but we ain’t no Kardashian. If you want to avoid looking like you emerged from a swimming pool, the high ponytail is worth a try. Especially with oily hair, it is actually easier to manage and comb back your hair into a high ponytail. This is also great for a day-to-night look and is perfect when heading out for night parties.

Dani Song looking effortless in a high ponytail as always

But we get it, some of us might not feel confident about having our hair neatly tied up into a ponytail, so tight that it pulls our eyes upwards. Most of us would prefer to let down our hair and let our mane contour the sides of our face. Why not try the hun a.k.a the half bun: it’s the new ‘messy hair, don’t care’ look which appears effortless but of course requires a little effort from you. Simply use a dry shampoo or dab some baby powder onto the affected area and tie a bun anyhow you want (well, since we’re going for a ‘I woke up like this’ look here, anything goes). Give your bun a little tuck and pull and loosen your sides to let out those feelers.

A post shared by Camila Coelho (@camilacoelho) on

We are definitely all about the half bun look

And for those of you who have to live with the curse of the baby hairs, braiding your hair could get pretty messy once you step out of the house as the tiny strands slowly make their appearance one by one. Oily hair might just be a blessing in disguise in this case: it actually helps your hair to stick together and the braiding will have you looking super sleek. We suggest doing the French braid (super cute), with your hair parting at the centre. It might be difficult to do a French braid on your own but practice makes perfect. Learn from Carli Bybel with her step-by-step tutorial here:

Here are some extra tips to avoid oily hair: The advice Kim Kardashian gave to Kendall Jenner about never touching your face too much is such a simple rule but yet so true. This applies to your hair too! Our fingertips do produce oil and when mixed with all that bacteria from god knows where, you really might want to reconsider touching your face and hair too much. Also, there’s no need to smother conditioner near the roots of your scalp since it produces natural oils too; it is sufficient to apply them from the bottom half of your tresses. And if all else fails, perhaps it’s just a good excuse for you to throw on a cap, take a cute selfie and upload it on Instagram with the caption #badhairday.

The Drool-Inducing Food Shows To Stream On Netflix

It’s no secret that Singaporeans sleep really late, but what are we doing during those wee hours of the night? Some of us are doing serious work, but the rest of us… probably bingeing Netflix. No shame in that of course (as long as it doesn’t affect you at school or work the next morning), but this recent study by Netflix has thrown out some pretty interesting statistics: peak Netflix streaming within Singapore occurs as late as 10pm, which is one of the latest viewing times in the world.
So we guess that over here, late nights aren’t just for supper. We took this opportunity to unite two big Singaporean passions: food, and streaming TV shows and movies, in this roundup of the best food documentaries you can watch on Netflix now. Word of warning: maybe don’t watch these at night, if you’re trying to quit the supper habit.

Chef’s Table

CHEF'S TABLE

The premise of the show is this: a group of culinary masters from all over the world are united in each season, and we’re brought right into their legendary kitchens, as well as into their personal lives, to get a glimpse of how they continually innovate the world of gourmet dining. Season 3, the latest, features chefs from nations as diverse as South Korea, Russia, and Peru.

Midnight Diner – Tokyo Stories
Ep4_OMELET-RICE

Omelette rice, corn dog, tanmen noodles: it would be a dream come true to have a Japanese restaurant that serves up any dish you wish exist. Midnight Diner – Tokyo Stories, based on the popular manga Shinya Shokudo, centres on the Master, who serves up custom-made dishes plus a side of solace to his patrons, who bring their stories to his tiny little restaurant that, yes, only opens at midnight.

Cooked
Cooked

Cooking really is a primal human need, borne out of a necessity to feed oneself and others; yet, it has evolved into an entire art form that’s backed by millennia’s worth of rich culture and traditions. Bestselling author Michael Pollan hosts this four-part documentary series and explores cooking traditions around the world, with each episode going behind one of the four different elements – earth, wind, fire, and water – and how it has been uses throughout time to elevate raw ingredients into complete dishes.

Of course, French food deserves an entire season of Chef’s Table dedicated to it. Five French chefs, the crème de la crème of the French culinary world, feature in this series, which takes a look at the intricate art of French cuisine, and how these chefs have devoted their careers into mastering sensory perfection through their dishes.

Samurai Gourmet
samurai gourmet

Another food show based on a popular manga, Samurai Gourmet is a series about the life of one Takeshi Kasumi, a retiree who spends his golden years rediscovering his passion for food. This leads to the emergence of his alter ego, a wandering samurai who belongs in Japan’s civil war era, and the episodes chronicle his search for food that can satisfy both his modern-day stomach, and his samurai’s soul.

Atas Chalets in Singapore For That Hotel-Style Staycation

Once upon a time, chalets in Singapore were popular destinations for short getaways. But then, deterioration set in. Beds became rundown, toilets gathered filth, and facilities were poorly maintained. Nobody wanted to stay at a chalet anymore, especially with all the posh hotels available in town.

Thankfully, all that is changing, with older buildings getting extreme makeovers to now look more like 3- to 4- star hotels, giving Singaporeans more staycation options than ever before. Here are three of our favourites:

D’Resort in Downtown East

There aren’t many places in Singapore where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but D’Resort in Downtown East is one of them.

Surrounded by lush nature in the heart of Pasir Ris, this recently revamped resort has a total of 387 beautiful guest rooms, each with drastically different themes. For example, you can choose between jungle or underwater themes for the Rainforest Family room, or even a special M&M’s-inspired room that has M&M’s pillows and M&M’s murals.

Premier Suite’s bedroom

The Premier Suite is also spectacularly luxurious, with both living and dining areas, a king-sized bed, and even a bathroom that has a freakin’ Jacuzzi! It’s defintely a far-cry from the days of old when all it had to offer was good proximity to Downtown East and the beach.

For more information on room rates and availability, visit www.dresort.com.sg.

Civil Service Club @ Changi

Here’s another gem to look out for. The Civil Service Club @ Changi has always been a popular spot, due to its convenient location at the beach. However, time was catching up with the 23-year old chalet, and facilities were getting old.

Today, after a massive $33 million upgrade (which was completed in 2014), the Civil Service Club @ Changi is now one of the swankiest chalets around town, with a medley of magnificent suites and villas available for booking.

villa_premier1
Premier Villa living room

villa_premier6
Premier Villa bedroom

The Premier Villa in particular is especially outstanding, with furniture and fixtures that look like they belong more in a Balinese resort than a Singaporean chalet.

And get this; over here, there’s a swimming pool, bike gym, tennis courts, and a total of six BBQ pits on the rooftop, so don’t worry about not having enough things to do.

For more information on room rates and availability, visit www.cscchangi.sg.

D’Kranji Farm Resort

Okay, so D’Kranji Farm Resort isn’t actually a real farm, or a legit kampong for that matter. But in terms of amenities and activities, this place is a real winner.

Case in point: its has prawning facilities, bikes for rent, a museum about swiftlets (the species of bird that produces bird’s nest), various food & beverage spots like a seafood restaurant and beer garden, and even massage and spa services!

dbeer-seafood-1
Food at D’Kranji Farm Resort

In terms of accommodation, visitors can look forward to a total of 35 comfy villas, some of which have a steam room, wide screen TV, as well as a Jacuzzi.

elite
Elite Room

Family rooms are a little pricey but they’re worth it. Besides having two bedrooms, a family room comprises of a kitchenette, a private karaoke system, and your very own personal BBQ pit. Now that’s what we’re talking about.

We Just Unlocked A Treasure Trove Of The Most Magical Disney Princess Makeup

Thanks for asking, Ariel, but sorry to disappoint, when it comes to makeup… our collection will hardly ever be complete. We’ve recently discovered Thai beauty brand Cute Press, an indie company that y’know, offers some of the most magical themed makeup, inspired by our favourite Disney Princesses. We’re spotting Belle, Ariel, Elsa and Alice; and perhaps even more to come in the near future.
Beauty And The Beast

This franchise comes with a whole set of products, from eyeshadow palettes to a hydrating mist. There’s also a set of four liquid matte lipsticks, and a trio of highlighters. Everything is decked out in pale pastel hues of pink and cream for that added vintage vibe.
The Little Mermaid

Ariel’s collection doesn’t come with a dinglehopper, but instead, two waterproof eyebrow brushes and four wearable lip shades that come in satin finishes. The lipsticks come in especially adorable casings — perfect for when you fish them out of your purse during the day. Each colour has a different image of Ariel, so it’ll be most logical to, well, collect them all.
Alice In Wonderland

The only rabbit hole you’ll be slipping down with this collection is wanting to aggressively purchase the entire set of their coconut scented lip balms. There’s a clear option available, but if you’re one to prefer a slight flush of colour on your lips when it comes to lip balms, there’s also the tinted versions available — in orange, pink and red.
Frozen

There’s only one item that’s made in Frozen’s (or rather, Elsa’s name), but it’s the one product that’s pretty darn interesting. Introducing none other than the first ever “tinted sunscreen cushion”, where the formula with SPF 50+ PA+++ shields your skin from harmful UV rays. Why the product comes in a huge bulky bottle we don’t know, but the cap opens up to reveal a cushion puff, and you’re supposed to tap the sunscreen into your skin after pumping it out. It doesn’t make for the best travel companion, but still one for the Frozen shrine nonetheless.
Most of these products are already sold out… guess we weren’t quick enough in sniffing the Thai brand out when they’re just hot off the press (pun intended). Still, their Instagram feed itself is already a fine curation of images to marvel at — and if you keep a close eye on their updates, they might one day bring in new stock of their best-selling Disney swag.

The Upcoming CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique Will Bring A Part of Paris Closer to You

The CHANEL fashion boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands will be closing its doors in June to prepare for a re-opening in November but while you anticipate on that, soak in the Paree ambience here in Singapore as a stand-alone ephemeral boutique opens at the B1 level of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands from June 16th till end of October. What is an ephemeral boutique, you might ask? It is actually the equivalent of a pop-up boutique. We know, fancy shmancy words. But it’s Chanel we’re tallking about here.
Showcasing the CHANEL Paris Cosmopolite 2016/17 Métiers d’art collection, the first of three collections that will be displayed there, the 3,000 square feet boutique will draw inspiration from the iconic hotel – The Ritz Paris, a home kept close to the heart of Gabrielle Chanel and a representation of the idea of Paris that Karl Lagerfeld had in mind. It is also the place where the collection first debuted, featuring Pharrell Williams and Lily-Rose Depp walking down the runway during the lighthearted show. Inspired by how the people dining at the Ritz hotel dress in the 1920s and ’30’s , the collection exudes elegance with a modern twist which includes gilded accessories and leather details.

Having had their ephemeral boutiques set up in locations such as Courchevel, Le Marais and Saint-Tropez, this will be the first time in which a CHANEL ephemeral boutique will open in Singapore, so make sure you don’t miss the chance to witness this dreamy collection.

The CHANEL ephemeral boutique will open from June 16th until the end of October 2017 at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Avenue, Galleria Level B1-142. Open from 10:30am to 11:00pm on Sunday to Thursday (including public holidays) and 10:30am to 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday (including eve of public holidays). chanel.com/en_SG.

From the first New (York) Me Party back in 2012 (we were there!), Maybelline Singapore has built up quite a reputation for throwing pretty huge and fabulous parties at Zouk. They quickly followed up with a series of other bashes like the An Arresting Lash Revolution and Let’s Rock The Rocket the following year, where there was always plenty of makeup to play with, performances and runway shows, and all in all, a whole lot of fun. And then for a few years, the parties stopped for awhile… until now!!!
On 9 June 2017, Maybelline is throwing the #MakeItHappen Party, which they’re calling “the single, most important, high-profile beauty bash of the year”. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect that night:

MNY-JUNE-EDM_18May

5 Cocoa-Infused Beauty Products For Chocolate Lovers, Without The Guilt

So if you’re reading this, we’re guessing that you’re likely to be part of the diet club. But even if you’re not, rest assured that there’s going to be zero judgement, because here at the NYLON office, the team pretty much lunges at any bits of food that drops in during the day. We’re quite *ahem* unabashed, dare we say, when it comes to… snacks. Our “diets”, as we like to call it, consist of chomping down bags of chips (and dips!) and bars of chocolates at our desks, before letting reality sink in and even then, we still have to debate internally if we actually feel bad at all. (Spoiler alert: no.) Apparently, guilt doesn’t exist if you don’t believe in guilty pleasures.

via GIPHY

So, seriously, if it’s any advice that you can take away from us this work week, it’s this: You don’t need anyone telling you how much chocolate (or snacks) you can have. No one has time for that type of negativity in their lives…!!!
But we (kinda) understand if you are one to obsess over your diet. We do try too, sometimes, very occasionally — which is the reason of today’s beauty entry, yes? Cocoa has antioxidant properties that protects your skin from external radicals — five times more than green tea and double the amount found in red wine. And we picked out some of the best cocoa-infused beauty products that’ll satisfy your sweet-tooth craving, with zero caloric intake.
1. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder
closeup_5f721558581675258c1a2c84c3ef444bec5467ef_1493211790_19161_TooFaced_WEB

Sweet Peach may be Too Faced’s main selling line at the moment, but let’s all not forget where the brand began… with their classic chocolate-infused and scented products. For the longest time ever, before Kevyn Aucoin, before Benefit’s Hoola, was Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder. Infused with actual cocoa powder, the product not only smells delicious, but also delivers a beautiful brown hue that neutralises any redness in your complexion for a flawless sun-kissed finish.
$42, available at Sephora and sephora.sg.
2. Fresh Cocoa Body Exfoliant
zoom_a3697fe3d89c0b42f515223b43c130c47a598561_1493209414_16709_FRESH_WEB

Be prepared to be blown away by how delicious this scrub smells — we kid you not, it’s like chocolate cookie batter in a tub. That you literally slather yourself with. The generous amounts of crushed cocoa shells make for gentle exfoliants that softly buff away dead and dull patches, leaving you with baby smooth skin. Cocoa butter helps nourish and keeps skin taut, while cocoa extract provides your skin a protective shield from harmful radicals.
$65, available at Fresh stores, Sephora and sephora.sg.
3. LUSH Whipstick

Whipstick new-375x375

Hear this: This lip balm is a luscious blend of the most mouth-watering (ha ha) ingredients — there are lashings of dark chocolate, tangerine and sweet orange oils, white honey, and oatmilk. That almost sounds like an actual recipe for a smoothie, yes? This lip balm not only serves its purpose of hydrating parched and thirsty lips, but also seals in the moisture while softening your pucker at the same time.
$22, available at LUSH stores and lushsg.com.
4. Ciaté London Choc Pot
zoom_3e2adabeed5d31f1a62710b17259c247aa2936b4_1493208662_15467_CiateLondon_WEB

Essentially, a nail polish remover pot with a chocolate scent. This one is perfect to store at your desk in case of a chipped nail, given how adorably bite-sized it is. Simply dip your finger into the acetone-soaked sponge, give it a good swirl, and your nail polish will be removed when you fish your finger out. And that’s not all, your fingers are going to be laced with a gentle chocolate scent, which is always an added bonus. There are four fragrances to choose from — Dark Chocolate, Orange Chocolate, White Chocolate and Mint Chocolate.
$14 / $18, available on sephora.sg.
5. Perricone MD Cocoa Moisture Mask
MP0109_CC0001_SC0023

If you are looking for an incredibly luxurious mask with a matching price tag to boot, Perricone MD is likely to be your best bet. This cocoa-infused product is pretty innovative, we must say. The mask smells very chocolatey, but applies on white. You’re supposed to massage the mask into the skin, until the white microcapsules “transform” into cocoa granules, and that’s when the mask turns brown. It relieves tension from your skin, gives it a shot of intense hydration, while once again, helping to combat against free radicals. 100% of reviewers online have agreed that their skin felt exceptionally soft and smooth — should you ever be on the lookout for a decadent home-spa treatment, this is it.

The Adidas Samba "White Ice" Pack Puts a New Spin On The Classic Triple White Look

When it comes to sneakers, few looks are as timeless as a simple triple white colourway — though you might have to wash them a lot more than your average pair of kicks, those willing to put in the effort will be rewarded with a clean, versatile aesthetic that will quite literally never go out of style. All-white shoes have become so ubiquitous, however, that it’s becoming increasingly hard to stand out from the crowd, so the arrival of the Adidas Samba “White Ice” pack is certainly a welcome addition to our sneaker rotations.

Samba01 Samba02

Though the silhouette was originally built for indoor soccer, the resurgence of retro-inspired trainers have propelled the Samba back into relevance in the same vein as the Nike Internationalist, providing a breath of fresh air with its minimalist design. As the name implies, the premium leather upper is completely draped in an icey white, save for some off-white on the toe box that we’d honestly rather not have, but the sneaker more than makes up for it with an eye-catching translucent midsole. Coming in light blue and light pink, these colourful soles put a fresh new spin on a classic colourway without drawing too much attention away from the overall clean look of the shoe.
Samba03 Samba04

The women’s exclusive Adidas Samba “White Ice” pack is available right now, and can be bought online at select Adidas stockists such as Foot District for 100 Euros. If you were only going to buy one sneaker the entire year we’d probably recommend a pair of triple whites, and if you want to make a subtle statement at the same time then these kicks are certainly a viable option.

The Multi-Masking Trend Just Got a Major Update With These Innovative Sheet Masks

We all know what a sheet mask can do to benefit a dull, dehydrated complexion. It force-feeds the skin with nutrients, boosting moisture levels in a matter of minutes to restore that radiance – perfect for individuals who live for instant gratification (i.e. all of us). But what happens when your skin’s feeling taut and breakout-prone at the same time? Of course, you can save that sheet mask for another day and jump on board the multi-masking train instead, or you could turn your attention to Skin Inc’s new multi-masking system, Facial In A Flash.

skin inc masks 2

sabrina and son ye jin
Sabrina Tan (left) and Son Ye-Jin (right)

We sat down with Skin Inc’s founder, CEO, and ultimate #girlboss Sabrina Tan, as well as Skin Inc’s very first brand evangelist, Korean actress Son Ye-Jin, to gather some tips and tricks to get glowing skin. Having known one another for a few years now, the two ladies felt it was a natural decision to have her on board as the face of the brand. “I believe Sabrina is a very inspiring leader. She’s very passionate about her products and one of the things that I love about the brand is their emphasis on customisation for individual and unique needs,” Son Ye-Jin shares, one of her favourite products being the Facial In A Flash masks.
Sabrina first got the idea for creating these masks when she observed her husband’s shaving routine, picking up on the fact that he had varying concerns at different areas of his face. When asked about her personal mask pairing, Sabrina explains, “I get hives easily. I have very sensitive, eczema-prone skin, so I will use the Soothe-N-Purify Black Gold Mask on the bottom half of my face, and pair it with the Lines Be-Gone Rose Gold Mask on the top half because my skin is ageing too.” Son Ye-Jin, on the other hand, uses the Get Glowin Platinum Mask on top for brightening, and the Soothe-N-Purify Black Gold Mask on the bottom to calm her skin. She said, “When I first used this combination, I was so happy with the results that I distributed the products to my staff and told them to try it out.”
With Son Ye-Jin on board, you’ll be seeing her in future Skin Inc campaigns, but she won’t just be fronting the brand with her gorgeous looks, the actress will also be involved in the innovation process of new products to come, looking to take their customisable concept to new heights. Meanwhile, we’ll be watching this space and waiting here patiently.
Skin Inc Facial In A Flash Series, $17 per pack and $48 for a set of 3 masks. Available now at all Skin Inc stores.

The SmartBoy Transforms Your Samsung Phone into a Legit Working Gameboy

Have you always wanted to return to the good ol’ days of the Gameboy? If so, we’ve got great news for you. US-based company Hyperkin has recently launched what is called the SmartBoy, which is basically a phone accessory that’s able to convert your smartphone into a fully functioning Gameboy.
Now if that sounds awesome, that’s because it freakin’ is. Well, at least for Samsung fans anyway. Sorry Apple users, but Hyperkin only clinched an official licensing agreement with Samsung’s Mobile Accessory Partnership Program, so you guys have got to rely on emulators for the time being; which is not that bad to be honest.

Still, emulators can’t beat the SmartBoy when it comes to dishing out that same sense of nostalgia. This neat little gadget is not only compatible with actual Gameboy Original and Gameboy Color cartridges, it’s also designed in a manner to evoke the feeling of playing a proper Gameboy set, thanks to its classic tactile button layout.
Check out how it works below:

One good thing about the SmartBoy is that it does not require batteries to work, although it needs the phone to have a USB Type-C port, something like what the Galaxy S8 has. Another cool thing about it is that it’s also compatible with Game Boy Advance apps from Google Play.
Funny thing is, the SmartBoy was was originally an April Fool’s joke, but we’re so, so glad that isn’t the case anymore. It’s going to be pretty hard getting your hands on one though. The SmartBoy is only available in the U.S and Korean market, but if you bypass that slight problem, you can expect to score one for the price of US$49.99.

How to wear the flames trend without relying on thrasher tees

The flames trend is back and it’s not only appearing on Thrasher t-shirts. If you don’t have $50 to spare on a skater t-shirt and you don’t even skate to begin with, here’s how you can incorporate these flames into your outfit but still look on fire.
1. DIY
Have an old pair of worn out jeans that’s no longer trendy anymore? Revive it by giving it an extra spark. If you love watching fashion and makeup videos on YouTube, you probably would have heard of Julia Dang and Maya Nilsen, the duo behind popular YouTube channel The Line Up. They are known for their sense of style especially in streetwear. Take their cue and watch how easy it is to draw on the flames on your classic Vans slip-ons or that old pair of jeans you are considering to donate to the Salvation Army. All you need are paint brushes, fabric paints and maybe a tiny lil bit of artistic talent. Check out their DIY video here:

2. Nails
Afraid that the trend will die out and don’t wanna waste a perfectly fine, classic pair of jeans or shoes? Don’t sweat it because you can always wear this trend on your nails. Just look at how lit her nails are!

If you are someone who tries a trend out once and move on, this is a temporary measure that will not require you to sacrifice your clothes. You can look up on DIY videos – there’s a ton of flame nail art videos on YouTube and here’s one of the many videos out there to get you started:

If you have shaky hands and your left hand just can’t do a proper job of painting your right nails, go ahead and book an appointment with your manicurist and you won’t have to feel bad about not being a very hands-on type of person.
3. iPhone Cases
You know those moments where you take a mirror selfie of yourself but wished your iPhone casing was just a little cooler? Yeah, we get ya. Check out the “Hottie” iPhone casing from wildflowercases:

They are available in iPhone 6/6s/7/7s and the iPhone 6/7 Plus sizes as well. The next time you upload a mirror selfie on Instagram, be ready to expect comments on where you got your phone casing from.

Vans' Newest "Metallic Glitter" Pack Combines Two Sneaker Trends Into One

The monochromatic look might have been one of the first sneaker trends to come out of 2017, but in recent months it seems to have taken a backseat to newer trends such as pink / grey and iridescent kicks, to name a few. In an attempt to bring the tonal look back into relevance, Vans’ latest “Metallic Glitter” pack ups the ante by taking not one, but two trends and combining them into a single sneaker…and you know what? It’s such a crazy idea that it just might work.

Vans01 Vans02

Using the ever-reliable Sk8-Hi Slim and Authentic silhouettes as its canvas, these sneakers are completely draped in an equally-reliable millennial pink, ensuring that these kicks will stay fashionable for the foreseeable future (seriously, we don’t think that pink sneakers will ever go out of style). As the name of the pack implies, the vulcanised sole has also been covered in a thin layer of glitter, which creates a subtle, yet eye-catching look that is sure to impress those who take the effort to notice the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it detail. We wouldn’t have believed you if you told us that you you could revitalise a look by simply adding another look on top of it, but these sneakers have definitely proven us wrong.
Vans03 Vans04

The Vans “Metallic Glitter” pack is available right now at the brand’s official website, and cost a very affordable US$55 and US$65 for the Sk8-Hi Slim and Authentic models respectively. If putting one trend on top of another worked so well here, then we’d love to see what brands are going to come up with next — iridescent pink / grey sneakers? metallic gradient kicks? Man, we sure hope someone comes up with those soon.

Tarte's New Stick Foundation Is Skin Food In A Tube

Just a couple of weeks ago we blogged a whole dedicated entry on stick foundations and how the creamy, blend-able formulas are a choice form of foundation for the folks who tend to hit snooze on their alarms. Tarte wasn’t part of that list, but did you honestly think that they were gonna that lying down? No — and they’re back in the game better than ever — with their very own Clay Stick Foundation that’s not just any foundation, but as per Tarte style — chockfull of skin-loving ingredients, such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C, mineral pigments and their ever popular Amazonian clay.

1064-alt-1

The formula is a build-able powder-to-liquid formula that melts right into your skin upon contact, so you can ensure a seamless foundation coverage that sits atop your complexion like a second layer of skin, without it feeling heavy, or looking cake-y. The foundation is not going to settle into your fine lines, or emphasise pores, but rather fills them in while constantly adapting to you skin’s condition throughout the day (thank you Amazonian clay!) to keep you looking fresh and Photoshopped.
1064-alt-2

There will be 12 shades available, a pretty decent range of colours for different skin tones. You can use them as they are — a foundation — or as a concealer and contour, since they can be layered and built-up anyway. The Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer has officially broken the Internet as the cult concealer to have (fret not NARS, we still love you all the same), so we’ll still have to try the Clay Stick Foundation for ourselves before deciding if the reigning status goes to… um, another product from the same damn brand. To say that we’re obsessed with Tarte can really be quite the understatement, let’s just put it this way.

But here’s the best part of the foundation. Considering how creamy they are, you probably won’t even need brushes or BeautyBlenders to blend them in. Finger-tapping the product into your skin will work just as well, since your body heat is going to melt the foundation right in anyway. You don’t always lose when you snooze!
The Tarte Clay Stick Foundation costs $60 on tartecosmetics.com. Keep a lookout on our site as we keep you updated on when the product will be available in local Sephora stores.
