Now You Can Shop (and Eat) Till You Drop at Marks & Spencer

Marks & Spencers Wheelock Place Café

Taking a trip down to Marks & Spencer is going to get a whole lot more exciting for shoppers from 2 September onwards, because the British retail giant will be opening a brand-new, 60-seater café at their Wheelock Place flagship store, with items like drinks, snacks and hot meals on the menu.
The new café will be Marks & Spencer’s first ever table-service F&B venture, which is pretty huge considering that the company has over 1,300 stores worldwide. At the café, customers can look forward to stuffing themselves silly with all kinds of comfort food.
For instance there’ll be Indian curries, pastas, pizzas and a variety of salads and sandwiches to whet your appetite, as well as sweet treats like ice cream and cake to enjoy. There’s also a nod of recognition to Marks & Spencer’s British roots with goodies like Fish & Chips and afternoon tea sets!

Salmon & Cream Cheese Bagel, Marks & Spencer

Salmon & Cream Cheese Bagel ($9.90)

Afternoon Tea Set for 2 ($29.90)

If you loved Marks & Spencer’s selection of food products before, be prepared to love the new selection even more. The existing Food Hall at Wheelock Place will be stocked with a raft of over 600 new chilled food products, with soups, salads, cheeses, dips, fruits and vegetables all on offer.
Those with a sweet tooth can also pamper themselves with cheesecakes, yoghurts and puddings! What makes this even more special is that the Wheelock outlet will be the only store outside of Hong Kong to offer this mega range of products.
Ms. Christine Choi, CEO, Marks & Spencer, Singapore & Malaysia, said: “From our Singapore customers’ must-have favourites, such as wines, chocolates and our bakery range, M&S Food is continuing to increase in popularity in Singapore. With the arrival of chilled food and our first M&S Café at Wheelock Place, we’re firmly putting M&S Food on the map as the must-go destination for food lovers in Singapore.”
Whether Marks & Spencer becomes THE must-go destination for food lovers in Singapore remains to be seen. But there’s no denying that it’s going to be a hell lot more fun visiting Wheelock Place from now on.

The Amazing Instagram Nail Art Tutorials Everyone Should Be Watching

To be honest, our nail art skills hardly go beyond messy polka dots and amateurish stripes. We guess we don’t have the patience nor the careful hands, so we’ll leave it to the experts to do it for us at the nail salon.
In the meantime, we’re also getting inspired by these seriously amazing videos by Russian nail art expert Sveta Sanders, who’s amassed quite an Instagram following for her pics of her nail masterpieces.

But as you scroll through Sanders’ colourful feed, you’ll notice that she includes quick videos that serve as easy-to-follow tutorials on how to nail the designs, should you be game to try. And even with Instagram’s 1-minute limit for videos, she manages to make the steps seem straightforward enough that we’re inspired to want to try it out ourselves. Or just bring the video to our manicurist.

The Upcoming Dr. Martens Collaboration We Want So Bad

When these two cult giants decided to get together and harness their individual attitudes into a collaboration previously, we basically knew that we had to carry the Brighton 8 Eye boot into the grave with us. And so when Dr Martens and Stüssy recently announced a second impending fall collaboration, we were caught in yet another shoe-crazy trance.

Stussy_Dr_Martens_03

Stussy_Dr_Martens_05

This time, the iconic Dr Martens’ 8 Eye boot is given a revamp with pebble grain leather – a perfect reflection of both brands’ rebellious and tough identity – in classic cherry red or black. The Ramsey Creeper makes its appearance with a cheetah hair toe and black leather, establishing itself as the collection’s front-runner. With Dr Martens’ traditional yellow stitch and woven heel loop, we know these shoes will last us through rainy days for years to come.

What The Internet Went Crazy About During The 2016 VMAs

What we got from the VMAs this year was nothing short of entertaining, and we mean this in the most glamorous, star-studded, jaw dropping way possible. Where do we start? From Beyonce and Blue Ivy’s dramatic mother-daughter red carpet ensemble, or Drake’s sweet confession to Rihanna which has got all of us swooning? The red carpet looks stole the show for sure, leaving us breathless with several looks which must have got heads turning at the event.

Beyonce arrived at the VMAS in a sparkling silver one-piece which accentuated her curves perfectly. She might have taken over the Ice Queen’s throne in this gorgeous floor-length piece with a show-stopping feathery shoulder pad which only Queen B herself can pull off. Blue Ivy looked equally regal in a rose gold tulle dress which we all wished we had owned during our good ol’ princess-crazed days. Ariana Grande made sure that she got our attention as well, with a laced off-shoulder and sleek loose trousers which screams sex appeal. We’re also considering to write a love letter to Nicki Minaj’s skin-tight blue gown which has cutouts in all the right places.
Kanye being Kanye

What do you think you’d get if you put Kanye on a stage. With a mic. And give him 4 whole minutes to do anything he should please. We found out last night that it involved a lot of self-praise (what can we say, this is Kanye we’re talking about here), shade being thrown at Taylor Swift (same old, same old) and an introduction to his new music video for “Fade”, a single from his recent album “Life of Pablo”. “I am Kanye West. And that feels really great to say, especially this year,” said the rapper in his speech, which seemed to span even longer than 4 minutes.
That Drake confession

Drake also took the stage to present his stunning beau, Rihanna, with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. Looking dapper and suave in his tux, Drake proclaimed his love for riri calling her an “iconic being” and saying that “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.”. We can’t get enough of this power couple, even more so when Drake gave riri a semi-awkward kiss on the cheek while handing her the award.

The VMAs wouldn’t really be the VMAs without the stunning music performances. Britney staged a strong comeback with her flawless performance of her latest hits. Despite various claims of Britney “miming” during the performance, the avid Britney supporters in us can’t disagree more! We’re sure the Princess of Pop is back and back for good this time, evidently establishing the beginning of her reign once more with this stellar performance. Rihanna brought her A-game as well, securing that much-deserved standing ovation time and again after her multitude of performances. We’re brought back into the good old days of  “Diamonds” and “Stay”, as Rihanna belted out ballads from old and new hits. We were thrilled when riri returned to take the stage each time after we thought she was done showcasing her vocals – there were a total of 3 segments dedicated to riri’s performances.

Baby Lion and Tiger Become Best Friends at Japanese Wildlife Park

Baby Lion & Tiger

As far as friendships go, this has to be amongst the sweetest of them of all. Born in Japan’s Oita Prefecture African Safari Park, a pair of newborn lion and tiger cubs have become best friends, taking over the Japanese social media world by storm.
We’re not too surprised though. After all, there is nothing more heartwarming than seeing two cute animals hugging each other, taking naps together or just hanging out side by side. Besides, lions and tigers are better known for deadly adult versions anyway, it’s nice to see them all fuzzy and cuddly for a change.
However, we won’t be seeing these two together for long. According to en.rocketnews24.com, the baby lion and tiger’s time together is limited, and they’ll be separated eventually. Bummer. Thankfully, park visitors can enjoy the sight of these furry critters running around and playing with each other for now!
Here are our favourite pictures of the delightful duo:

You Need To See This "Stranger Things" Star's Super-Cute Instagram

Netflix’s Stranger Things has definitely become the latest drama obsession since its July premiere, seeing as how a good number of people we know have already devoured the eight-episode series in one or two sittings.
Some reasons why it has become so beloved so quickly: the show’s premise already sounds incredibly intriguing before we’ve even watched the first episode. Set in Indiana, USA of the early 80s, the story is centred on a young boy who suddenly vanishes, thus drawing his family, friends, and the community into a dark web of government secrets, supernatural forces, and the world of one very strange little girl. It’s a show that will definitely resonate with fans of sci-fi classics, as well as kids of the 80s with its nostalgia.
We’ll leave it to you to binge watch the show this weekend – an easy feat, with only eight hour-long episodes – but here, we want to talk about the very adorable group of young boys who form the main cast of the show. Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo are the young actors who play Mike, Lucas and Dustin, the friends of Will Byers, the boy who disappears. These kids have already amassed huge fanbases with their solid acting chops, but it is Gaten in particular that has seriously stolen hearts recently.

via GIPHY

He’s cute enough as it is, but what has made the internet collectively go awww is his recent announcement on his Instagram that he is going to be stopping for every single person who asks him for a photo, and posting the picture on his own feed.

This kid sure is doing newfound fame right. Since he posted this a week ago, he sure has made good on his promise, as you’ll see when you scroll through his feed. We’ve already counted more than 20 of these pics with fans since that post, and in every single one, Gaten sports his signature wide grin. Like his character in the show, Gaten actually has the condition cleidocranial dysplasia in real life, which affects the development of his bones and teeth (Matt and Ross Duffer, the brothers who created the show, then wrote it into the story for his character Dustin).
Here are some of our picks of Gaten’s pics with fans, with his adorably heartfelt captions:

When it’s Naptime, this Baby Wins Everyone at Cosplaying

Joey Choi

There are plenty of talented cosplayers in the world, but none of them are nearly as adorable as Joey Marie Choi, a 4-month-old baby who’s dressed up by her mom and photographer Laura Izumikawa while she sleeps at night.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Izumikawa admitted that because her daughter slept so deeply, she thought that it’d be fun dressing her up to create hilarious memos, as a way of detailing the milestones in her life.
Whatever the case may be, little Joey rocks every outfit with ease, even though she has absolutely no freaking idea of what’s going on or just how famous she is. Still, there’s no denying that she’s just the cutest thing ever, and from Jon Snow to Han Solo, here’s our favourite selection of Joey’s costumes:

8 Reasons Why the ASUS ZenFone 3 is an Awesome Smartphone

ASUS ZenFone3

It has a sexy, all-glass covered design

ASUS ZenFone 3 Specs

If you’re a sucker for cutting-edge technological design, there’s no doubt you’d fall in love with the ASUS ZenFone 3. Its front is encased in Gorilla Glass – basically heavy-duty glass that is pretty much scratch- and impact- resistant. Diamond-cut chamfered edges and an aluminum frame complete the phone’s ultra-sexy look. ASUS is definitely going all-out here in terms of style!
You can get the ZenFone 3 in three beautiful colours
These days, phones are almost like fashion accessories, and ASUS has recognized that fact by releasing the ZenFone 3 in three beautiful colours. Customers can look forward to getting this sleek baby in classy colours like Sapphire Black, Moonlight White, and Shimmer Gold. Fabulous, we say.
It has a top-notch camera capable of competing with the best
ASUS ZenFone 3 Photo Taking

That’s right, the ZenFone 3 is one serious player when it comes to photography. The phone’s camera has 16 megapixels of resolution, a four-axis photo OIS that eliminates hand-shaking movements, as well as a subject-tracking auto-focus function that helps you effectively lock on your shot in any light condition in just 0.03 seconds! Clearly the ZenFone 3 is not just built for selfies.
The audio quality is great
Whether it’s indie rock, heavy metal, techno, reggae, or trance, you name it and it’ll probably sound great on the ZenFone 3. That’s because this device utilizes a studio-grade 24-bit/192kHz playback. To put that in simple layman terms, that’s four times the quality of CDs.
For such a large phone, the ZenFone 3 is ultra-slim

ASUS ZenFone 3 Slim

The only large thing about this baby is a plus-sized 5.5-inch display that gives you 1920 x 1080 of crystal clear, HD resolution. Other than that, it’s extremely slim with just 6.16 mm of width. That’s only slightly thicker than the average French fry. However, there’s also the 5.2-inch version if you prefer something slightly smaller.
It’s awesome for gaming
ASUS ZenFone 3 Gaming

Say goodbye to the annoyance of lagged gaming apps. This Android-powered phone can boast of a 64-bit, 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, which means it can handle even the most demanding of games with ease! As if we weren’t hooked enough on our phones already.
The biometric sensor is just crazily effective
Having a biometric sensor on your phone is nothing new – Samsung’s Note 7 even has additional iris scanning that allows you to unlock your phone with your eyes – but the ZenFone 3’s fingerprint sensor is super effective by itself. For example, it registers up to five separate fingerprints, which comes in pretty handy if you think about it. Just make sure that all the fingerprints are solely yours!
Best of all, it’s value-for-money
Priced at $398 (5.2-inch) and $498 (5.5-inch) respectively, the ZenFone 3’s various tech features really gives you a bang for your buck, especially when you compare it with other low-cost smartphones.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 is available at Singtel, Starhub, M1, and all authorized resellers and brand stores. Visit ASUS’s official website at www.asus.com/sg

Calling All Beyonce Fans: New Lemonade Merchandise To Grab Now

It finally happened. Beyonce released a range of lemon-themed merchandise last week based off her recent album, and we felt as if life has once again restored its meaning. We ain’t thinking bout’ you, but we sure got these bad boys on our mind (and we probably will until the end of time unless we somehow manage to get our hands on these).

We’re seeing dad hats, vests, IPhone cases with the phrase “Hold Up” – okay it’s no longer funny, we really need one of that – and totes. We can already picture ourselves rocking the uber cute cropped sweatshirt of bodysuit which holds the phrase “Boy Bye” (made famous in Queen B’s earworm “Sorry”). These quirky goodies are a perfect reflection of Beyonce’s cheeky personality, and we’re placing our bets on the fact these will outsell Kanye’s Life Of Pablo tees on any given day. Try us.

Gather Around, We're Exploring Cultural Appropriation In the Glamorous World Of Fashion

It feels as though we are threading on thin ice here with this precarious topic. The term ‘cultural appropriation’ has been thrown about multiple times especially in recent years, with the giant megaphone that is Twitter ready made available for us to call someone out (with much angst and outrage included).

via GIPHY

It’s honestly inevitable how prevalent it is for a designer to make one big, bad, blatant mistake of exploiting one’s culture for their own frivolous representation of it. It all boils down to every designer’s innate desire to search for growth and inspiration amongst unfamiliarity outside of their own country. We must admit, this could either go horribly wrong, or admirably well-deserving of a standing ovation.

via GIPHY

Valentino’s Spring 2016 was bizarre. It already dispatched with a bad start; the theme: “wild, tribal Africa” (seriously guys, Africa is huge, what are we talking about here?). The clothing featured intricate tribal motifs, colourful Masai beadwork, feathers, and safari animal prints. We must give it to them, the garments were absolutely stunning and far from superficially lazy when it came to the development of the inspiration from the culture. But there was one underlying fault behind Valentino’s Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s vision; the lack of coloured models in casting. We’re not surprised by the backlash from social media due to the heavy casting of white models in what is meant to be an ‘African-inspired’ show. And not to mention, the corn-rolls (have we all not learnt anything from Kylie’s controversy?).

A photo posted by Creative Co. (@creativeco2011) on

We’d like to turn our attention to Osklen’s Spring 2016 collection for a change. Oscar Metsavaht, creative director of Osklen went to the Amazon forest to camp out with the natives in order to harness spiritual inspiration for his collection. He participated in tribal rituals, and developed the collection based on his experience; from the monochromatic blue hues of the ocean, to a silk dress that paid homage to the designer’s overhead view of the jungle from above. Metsavaht carefully weaves in the tribe’s element of style, materials, and colours into his pieces, displaying a deep understanding of the natives and their stories. The tribe’s practice of using animal skins in dressing was also thoughtfully incorporated via stunning fish-skin handbags. We could already tell that the collection was a testament to Metsavaht’s love and consideration for the tribe, allowing them to tell their beautiful story through their practices in his place.

That, essentially, should be the productive spirit in which creativity or cross-cultural exploration should harness. We love it when fashion, though deemed frivolous at times, enlightens us and introduces us into vibrant lives and cultures.

Singapore Now Carries The 2 K-beauty Brands Everyone Has Been Going On About

You’d think that Singapore’s beauty scene has reached its peak of diversification, don’t you? We’ve already got plenty of brands to choose from, with the likes of crowd favourites such as Australis, to top make-up brands like Too Faced and Tarte (thank you, Sephora). But it wouldn’t really hurt to open up the floodgates further to Korean beauty, and the ever-expanding world of K-beauty is one step ahead of us on this, introducing to the Singapore market 2 popular brands: LAPCOS And Seatree.

Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 3.59.20 PM Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 3.59.33 PM

We can’t stress on the number of times we’ve seen our favourite influencers rave about the products from LAPCOS and Seatree, and we can’t wait to try them for ourselves for a change. What we’re really looking forward to is the LAPCOS x Disney line, which includes CC cushions, lipsticks, hand creams and eyeshadow kits in packaging adorned by our favourite Disney heroes such as the ever-lovable Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Seatree doesn’t lack in terms of artistically designed products as well, with gorgeous illustrations and designs by international and domestic artists donning their packaging. We’re dying to get our hands on their signature product: the Steam Cream, which utilises a Steam Emulsification Technique that guarantees a maximised nutritional property to our skin.

No one has a better grasp on enhancing our asian features as the Korean beauty industry itself. Sure, we’ve gone a little overboard with the contouring and matte lip trend we’ve picked up from the Wild Wild West, but we’ve realised that nothing suits us better than a dewy fresh face and a buttery pout. Guess it’s about high time for us to stock up on these!

Rihanna's Best Looks

We know she’s pulled off really outlandish looks on the red carpet before (enough with the omelette and Patrick Star memes, guys), but we can’t seem to look away whenever Rihanna hits the streets with yet another snazzy ensemble. We can’t seem to keep up with her fur boas and slouchy “off-duty” get-ups. Time to replace the bucket of drool we’ve got over here with an empty one, we’re tracking down every single crowd stunner riri has donned thus far.

A photo posted by Rihanna Daily (@rihannadaily) on

Rihanna might have stopped a few cars when she emerged wearing a billowing tiled kaftan maxi from Dolce and Gabanna. May we also add, we’ve gotten hooked onto all things furry after fervently obsessing over that graphic handbag she’s carrying.

A photo posted by Rihanna Daily (@rihannadaily) on

We look to Rihanna for guidance whenever we are in doubt. So when she told us that it was cool to be seen in head-to-toe pastels, you’d better trust that our wish lists were dominated by soft hued ensembles for the longest time.

Patent leather is one of fall’s hottest trends, but we caught our first glimpse of it on Rihanna. From slick, subversive trench coats to knee-high boots – the glossier, the better.

There is no such phrase as “too much” in Rihanna’s vocabulary for sure. Our eyes are darting everywhere here, from the Louis Vuitton carry-on, to the fur coat accented with studs. Yet, she still manages to pull it off without overwhelming us. Now that takes true skill, our friends.

It seems as if the pop starlet’s trying her best to diversify her looks with all the colours of the rainbow. We’ve never seen anyone rock robin egg blue as well as Rihanna did with this floor-skimming leather-like Balmain dress.

A photo posted by Rihanna Daily (@rihannadaily) on

Yup, another fur boa. We’ve gotten your message riri, we know we need one of those as well.

A photo posted by Rihanna Daily (@rihannadaily) on

We’ve heard of thigh-highs, and thats the highest point in which boots have ever climbed their way up to. Rihanna’s made her mark with a solid “hip-high” pair of neon orange kicks this time. They were right when they said that orange is the new black.

We need a tip or two on how NOT to look like we’re drowning in a potato sack when we try to look effortless in pulling off the oversized, baggy-everything look. Some outfits are just better off left alone solely for the Queen of Style to dominate.

Every Instagrammer Needs To See This: Greyhound Café Is Coming To Singapore

With its carefree artistic approach to dining, we’re expecting to see chic and modernistic furnishings paired with Instagram-worthy murals on walls. We’ve heard about the waiters and waitresses being decked out in specially designed uniforms, adding on to the true-blue artsy fartsy atmosphere the cafe’s renowned for. With all that said, the spotlight still falls on the food. The Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings and Deep fried Crab with Seafood are crowd favourites, and we’re excited to try these fusion delicacies. Consider this the next time you go cafe hopping!
