These colour-changing beauty products transform into something entirely different once applied on the skin, and while we know that looks are deceiving, there’s definitely nothing sinister about these – they’re truly magical.
LIPSTICK QUEEN FROG PRINCE BLUSH
Its green might look daunting, but don’t worry, Lipstick Queen’s blush will not appear green on the cheeks (phew). This gel-cream formula uses a pH-reacting, colour-changing technology that magically transforms into a natural, pink flush when applied. The result is a subtle and soft rosy sheen that’s easily buildable.
$35, available at escentials Paragon, and escentials TANGS at Tang Plaza
M.A.C TENDERTALK LIP BALM
We can never get enough of their lipsticks, more so after finding out that we can have our own personalised shade. Score! SMASHBOX O-GLOW INTUITIVE CHEEK COLOUR
We don’t see blushes in tubes very often, not to mention one that’s a transparent gel, but when applied, it instantly reacts with your skin to give a rosy, healthy-looking glow. Alternatively, give it a go on your lips for a subtle stain – yet another way to achieve that elusive ideal of a glowing complexion.
$47, available at Sephora
GIVENCHY ROUGE INTERDIT VINYL IN NOIR REVELATEUR
We’re de nitely intrigued by this deeply mysterious tube of black. On the lips, the colour appears to be either mauve or plum, depending on the individual. What’s more, when applied as a topcoat on other shades, your lips will instantly look bolder and darker, perfect for enhancing your evening look.
$48, available at Givenchy counters and Sephora
SURRATT PRISMATIQUE LIPS IN CULTIVÉ
Among Surratt’s collection of sheer, glossy Prismatique lipsticks, Cultivé has got to be the most interesting of the lot. Though a light iridescent blue in the tube, it effortlessly turns into a cool, glistening shade of pink on the lips, while specially formulated with Japanese pigments that luxuriously grace your lips with an illuminating shine.
$60, available at Beautique, Takashimaya D.S. Level 3 The Gift Box
THE BODY SHOP ALL-IN-ONE BB CREAM
This one’s for those who just can’t seem to find a base in the right shade for your obscure complexion; the lightweight

$32.90, available at The Body Shop
Clarks' Newest Collection Has Raised The Bar In Athleisure
These days, it seems as if everyone has been hopping aboard the athleisure trend. Leave it to Kanye to set it in motion, leaving the whole world in a craze chasing after high-end active wear. Believe us, we’re all for it, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic when Clarks dropped its Autumn/Winter collection. The sports-wear inspired sneakers appear minimalistic yet hand-carved and tailored to form modern silhouettes.
L – R: Wallabee Boot, $269; Trigenic Flex, $269; Desert Boot, $269.
Don’t get us started on the prints. Crafted in suede and snakeskin-effect leather, these shoes are adorned with contemporary white strokes to give it an edge.
Clarks has also taken to technology and research to include The Trigenic sole in these new sneakers, boosting our natural movement and comfort. We really wouldn’t mind investing in these tailored classics.

This Working Pokéball Allows You to Both Catch Pokémon & Charge Your Phone
As if walking around for miles glued to your phone isn’t taxing enough, there’s going to be a real, physical pokéball that ‘s going to help with your Pokémon Go quest, or at least make playing the game a whole lot more realistic.
Developed by California-based software company GamerReality LLC, the controller is shaped and designed like a pokéball, and players can throw it physically, just like how pokéballs are thrown in the anime or games. That means there’s no need to flick your fingers on your mobile phone screen any longer, as throwing this controller will enable the pokéballs in your screen to move around.
The controller does that by incorporating powerful technology like an accelerometer to gauge kinetic motion, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 to connect with the app. Not only that, it doubles up as a power bank with USB ports for charging phones, and according to GamerReality, the ball should give you three full charges, before its own battery is depleted. We suppose the idea is for you to keep on playing the game as interactively and as lengthily as possible.
If you don’t quite feel like throwing the ball on the floor, motioning a throw with the controller in the palm of your hand works great, saving you a ton of trouble from bending down to pick it up. Nonetheless, if you really feel the need to throw it with force, that’s perfectly all right. The ball is made to be durable, with a solid coating of rubber that gives it a light yet firm grip.
The downside? The ball isn’t out in the market yet, as it’s still in the phase of a Kickstarter campaign. The creators are currently in talks with Niantic Labs for a partnership deal, as well as Nintendo for licensing. But if all goes well, there are plans to commence shipping of the first instalment from December onwards. That’s for the first 1000 orders though, which prices each ball at $35. The second wave of early bird promotions has the ball costing $45, while the regular price is slated to retail at $55.

Singapore's Mandopop Queen Stefanie Sun Is Back With A New EP
Stefanie Sun holds a special place in our hearts. As one of our nation’s biggest musical exports and Singapore’s undisputed Queen of Mandopop, that previous statement holds true for Singaporeans in general; but over here at NYLON Singapore, this rings even more true as Sun was the face of our first ever issue, back in April of 2012.
Throwback to NYLON Singapore #1, featuring Stefanie Sun.
Back then, her latest album was It’s Time, released under her own record label Wonderful Music, and she told us she was in the process of working on her next, which turned out to be Kepler, released in early 2014 under Universal Music.
And as of yesterday, 17 August 2016, Sun has a new single to her name, titled Rainbow Bot. This time, it’s being released on Apple Music first, following what seems to be the trend in the music industry these days (read: Kanye’s The Life of Pablo and Beyonce’s Lemonade were briefly Tidal exclusives upon launch, and more recently, Drake’s latest album Views was also available to stream exclusively on Apple Music.)
Rainbow Bot will be part of a five-track EP of the same title, which will also include four cover tracks and will be available in full tomorrow, 19 August. The theme of this EP is childhood, and the innocence and simple beauty associated with it – to remind adults to take the time to view the world through a child’s eyes again, and to the young ones to not be in such a hurry to grow up. The new single is expectedly upbeat, with plenty of guitar strumming, and a cheerful reggae-influenced beat with a whistled hook, a track that quickly brings listeners back to the more carefree days.
There’s also a visual element to Rainbow Bot: Sun has worked with Apple Music to create an exclusive three minute-long short film, also available to stream on Apple Music. It was shot in the Botanic Gardens, our very own UNESCO Heritage Site, and fans can look forward to her sharing her inspiration behind the tracks on this new EP.
Here, we reconnect with our original cover girl after more than four years, to quiz her on Rainbow Bot, making the documentary, and of course, how becoming a mother has changed things since.
Why the decision to launch this album on Apple Music?
Apple Music approached Universal a couple of months back to do this project. Initially, what seemed impossible and even frivolous to me, became something that rested close to my heart. While debating on whether to do the project, I knew that it had to have a solid existence. The concept of being a child was formed, together with my production team, we took it and flew with it.
Take us through your journey towards deciding on the childhood-related themes for this album.
Since the theme of childhood is something that resides in all of our hearts, and since becoming a mother, the concept feels right to me. It also felt like an opportune time to let the inner child out. Once the concept was formed, I find myself finding delight in each of the songs’ message. “Rainbow Bot” is full of imagination, with no pretenses, no fear – everything appears as it is. “Sweet Child of Mine” is a Mardi Gras-type of celebratory fanfare, and “Lullaby 1987” is pensive and explores topics with regards to a child’s rights. The five songs, when put together, are cohesive and exciting to work on. It feels pretty complete.
Is there any particular track on this album that’s especially meaningful to you?
I think “Lullaby 1987” was one of my inspirations for the project. I had chanced upon it while doing my research on Dr. Liang Wern Fook (local writer and musician, one of the pioneers of the xinyao movement) and was taken by the beauty of the lyrics. While this had been penned almost 30 years back, the issues still feels fresh and extremely relevant in today’s environment. Kenn C, my producer spun a new melody for it, giving it new depth and life. It reminds me to appreciate the meaning of life, from child to the end.
What are your thoughts about the emergence of digital music platforms like Apple Music and how they have affected musicians?
Apple Music had been largely supportive of artistes’ creativity and efforts. It had been a pleasure working with their diligent team and their marketing plan had been on par with what we had put in. I think working with supportive platforms encourages artistes to explore new territories, whether by sound or by the channel in which they are delivered.
How involved were you in the production of the documentary series?
When Apple decided to send the award winning director Mai from New York, I was quite taken with how she embraced the production with such simplicity. She had listened to the album and paid careful attention to my music videos. I like how she worked with intent and seriousness but never losing her smile. We had a good run through about what the album meant for me and the intention of each song. It was a good learning opportunity.
What was your biggest takeaway from filming this documentary? Was there anything about the experience that took you by surprise?
I think I never imagined that explaining a concept such as “childhood” could be difficult. Fear, fearlessness, simplicity, complexity, it exists in all of us and yet it could be quite elusive.
How has motherhood changed the way you create music?
I think embracing it has been the most rewarding experience in itself. Looking through the eyes of a child is very rewarding, you see things for the first time and emotions are unfiltered and pure. There is a certain freedom that comes with this new vision when recording a project such as this!
What are your plans for your music for the next few years ahead?
My next album is under way, please watch out for it. 😉
Rainbow Bot is now available for streaming on Apple Music. Rainbow Bot the EP is available in full on 19 August 2016. applemusic.com/rainbowbot
En Route: London
London holds many special memories for me. My last trip to the city was three years ago when I met Shingai Shoniwa from The Noisettes and we photographed her for our Jun/Jul 2013 cover. I also caught the extraordinary “David Bowie Is” exhibition, which was impossible to get tickets to; I only found out about it when I reached London and tickets were completely sold out. But I was also staying at The Savoy, one of London’s historical hotels; and the concierge (whom I suspect are magicians), knew someone who knew someone with a VVIP pass to the V&A (where the exhibition was taking place), and they secured me a pair of Bowie tickets during my stay there. Now I’m back in London for the launch of Chanel’s Fall/Winter makeup collection, and the one place I really wanted to return to was The Savoy – for its unrivalled hospitality, and also for its excellent location in the heart of London’s shopping and theatre district.

The Underdog Behind Fashion's Best Handbags: Anya Hindmarch
Few may recognise the works of Anya Hindmarch, but we appreciate her offbeat approach to traditional English sensibilities so much that we think it’s time for her to shine a little. Anya, who emerged into the ready-to-wear scene in 2013, started out designing tongue-in-cheek handbags which quickly climbed its way into the wish-lists of many. We’ve seen this designer work magic over the past couple of years, from spinning teacups on the runway to bringing the entire show inside the mechanics of a kaleidoscope. We can’t be more sure that Anya is definitely the designer to be looking out for, and we’re taking you through her world of quirky runway antics.
S/S 2015
And of course, the bags were the main focus of attention here. Models donned sterile white jumpsuits as Hindmarch’s handbags and accessories stole the show. We’re taken back into the days where we used to put stickers on everything – and by this, we really mean everything. Our notebooks, walls, wallets… The list can really go on. But Hindmarch outdone us with this collection, customising her leather bags with adorable graphic work resembling stickers. We seem to spot the phrase Bags have feelings too on multiple designs (if that were true, we’re sure ours would be upset by all the junk we throw in there). The comical nature of Hindmarch’s shows sure do speak to us!
F/W 2015
This collection seemed to have marked the start of Hindmarch’s venture into the world of ready-to-wear, but that doesn’t remotely take the slightest bit of attention away from the show-stopping bags once again. The collection entitled “Diversion” took its inspiration from all things traffic; signages that mark our motorways and transport. Leather bags were stamped with “No U-Turn” and “No Delivery”. Ironically, the bags did deliver – with its quirky smiley face patch-ons which are a classic favourite, and the playful Man-At-Work signage. We’ve never seen eccentric designs look this good on bags.
S/S 2016
Okay, so as if having the runway transformed into a prismatic mirror-filled kaleidoscope wasn’t enough, Anya Hindmarch took to the British high-street retailers for inspiration in this collection. The all-familiar logos from Mothercare, WHSmith’s and Boots ( which, of course, were literally on boots) were plastered all over this season’s collection in a tessellated fashion. The geometric shapes and motifs serve as an embodiment of repetition and patterns. Ah, Hindmarch sure knows how to poke fun at the nostalgic heart doesn’t she?
F/W 2016
80s’ retro gamers, heads up! Hindmarch’s most recent collection is sure to get you on the edge of your seats. Coats and (needless to say) handbags adorn pixellated arcade characters such as the beloved Pac-Man and Space Invaders. We love the digitalised print of our favourite game tropes on these bags. Do we really need these adorable totes? Totes.

The Prettiest Cushion Compacts Out There
If you always have a cushion compact stashed in your bag so you can whip it out anytime for convenient touch ups, you’ll want to invest in one (or all) of the very aesthetically-pleasing offerings below. We’ve found that it’s impossible to resist a pretty cushion case, so stop telling yourself you don’t need another one of these – and just give in.
Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Le Cushion Encre de Peau
Literally every single time we’ve taken this out, anyone we’re with immediately comments something along the lines of: “Oh my gosh, I’ve been wanting to get this cushion. It’s so pretty!!!” Can’t argue with that, because with the reflective black and gold surfaces and the cover emblazoned with the YSL logo in gold, this whole thing just screams luxe. Even the puff applicator seems extra expensive, with its black top and ribbon holder. The coverage is a ever-popular “luminous matte”, and the texture is super lightweight – YSL compares it to ink.
$88, available at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté stores and counters.
innisfree My Cushion
We’re technically talking about 100 different cushions here, because that’s exactly the number of cushion case designs innisfree has made available in its My Cushion series. So many colours and patterns, from darks to pastels to brights, and from stripes to polka dots and other graphic elements, are covered that we literally didn’t know where to begin picking from when the brand first presented the full range to us – we reckon you’ll have this same (very welcome) problem, so go ahead and linger in the stores and take your time to make your choice. Once you’ve picked your case, load in the new Long Wear Cover Cushion or Water Fit Cushion – the former gives a soft matte coverage, and the latter a more dewy finish. The customisation doesn’t stop there, as you get to pick your beauty tool to use to apply the cushion: aside from the regular flat puffs, you also have the choice of a brush or a stamping sponge.
innisfree My Cushion Case, $12; Long Wear Cover Cushion Refill and Water Fit Cushion Refill, $19; Beauty Tools, $3 to $15. All 100 case designs available at innisfree Takashimaya S.C. and VivoCity; 40 selected designs available at all other innisfree stores.
LANEIGE BB Cushion_Whitening and BB Cushion_Pore Control
It’s a big deal when Laneige, purveyors of the most iconic BB cushion, decides to give their famous product a major revamp. That’s exactly what they did last month, and boy, did we fall in love with what was unveiled. The cushion case has gotten a lot sleeker, but it’s the holographic top that really got us – move it around in the light, and the colours change. The outside is cool enough already, but the makeover extends to the inside as well – the cushion now features a firmer texture and a protruding diamond pattern, which helps with a more even coverage.
We get a bonus next month in the form of the LANEIGE x LUCKY CHOUETTE collection, which includes two ridiculously cute cushions featuring this collaborative collection’s owl mascots. We’re getting both of ’em, that’s for sure.
LANEIGE BB Cushion, $59, available at LANEIGE boutiques and counters. LANEIGE x LUCKY CHOUETTE BB Cushions, $59, available at the Takashimaya D.S. B1 Talking Hall from 24 to 30 Aug, and at LANEIGE boutiques and counters from 1 Sep.
Shiseido Makeup Synchro Skin Glow Cushion Compact
Black never fails, especially when it’s paired with white. Shiseido has done a really good job with the packaging design of its first ever cushion, with an abstract floral-like design on a smooth black surface. Like the Synchro Skin Foundation launched earlier this year, the formula of this one senses changes in the skin’s moisture and shine levels and adjusts itself to ensure a dewy, even finish that lasts.
Price TBC, available at Shiseido counters from October.
Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Brightening
You’ll also want to hold this one up to the light, as the white casing features a pearlescent graphical design that evokes the brightening effect of this formula pretty accurately. The whole case reminds us of a smooth pebble, and it’s slightly smaller and rounder than most other cushions out there.
$80, available at the Sulwhasoo boutique and counters.
If You Love Gin, We’ve Got Great News For You Because Asia’s Biggest Gin Festival is Coming Back to Town!
That’s right, the East Imperial Gin Jubilee – which is organised by beverage curators Proof & Company – will be heading back to Singapore for its 4th edition from 13 to 19 November 2016, and gin lovers are in for a massive treat.
But before that, the drinks festival will kick off in four other cities from around the region, starting with Kualur Lumpur from 18 to 20 August, Hong Kong from 30 August to 3 September, Phnom Penh from 6 to 8 October, and Bangkok from 27 to 29 October, before ending off in Singapore.
Information is currently scant about what is going to happen when it’s Singapore’s turn to host the festival, but the East Imperial Gin Jubilee usually organises master classes, tastings, parties and pop-ups, so it’s safe to say that this year’s events will probably be around the same.
One thing’s for certain though, is that this edition of the East Imperial Gin Jubilee will see 80 bars from the participating countries challenge each other for the title of Asia’s best G&T maker, and we’re pretty confident that our local boys have what it takes to be crowned champions.
That being said, with big brands like Hendrick’s, Monkey 47, Death’s Door and Sipsmith all involved, plus the region’s best bars and bartenders, there’s no better place to celebrate gin culture than to head down to the East Imperial Gin Jubilee.
The East Imperial Gin Jubilee is happening from 13 to 19 November 2016. Visit their website at ginjubilee.com.
The Outfit That Best Describes You, According To Your Sign
Say what you will, but we believe there lies a relative amount of truth in horoscope readings. Sure, they may be generalised and vague for a reason, but we can’t help but feel attached to our own sign and what we stand for. If you’re like us, you’ll want to carry on with this article as we’ll be taking you through outfits which best depict your zodiac personality.
Capricorn
You’re strong-willed and quietly ambitious. At times, you feel like you’re a little too mature for your own age (please let us know what that must be like) and you’re an expressive – and possibly – animated speaker despite your reserved front. You are generally sophisticated, put together and focussed in your dressing style. Without it being too over-the-top, you like to inject a subtle show-stopper – such as atypical silhouettes – into your everyday look.
L – R: Zara Long Handmade Coat, $229; Pomelo Kamie Cut Out Jumpsuit, $59; Pomelo Faline Suede Assymetrical Skirt, $34.
Aquarius
You, as an individualist, question tradition and customaries as though rebelling is second nature to you. Your negative outlook on stereotypes and labels explains your unpredictable day-to-day style. We love it when you show up in your outlandish get-ups. It must be nice to feel like a #boss everyday (due to your tendency to lead and take charge). We’d like some of that confidence too please.
L – R: Zara Tulle Overshirt, $49.90; Topshop Ruffle Wrap Body, $56.90; Alter Tall Wide Leg Awkward Length Trousers, $76.
Pisces
Ah Pisces, the poet of all zodiac signs. The sensitive, almost-too-delicate to a fault individual of the pack. We just want to tuck you in with a soft comforter and tell you that everything is going to be alright. Your sensitive, dreamy nature may be interpreted by others as a lack of focus, but we know its an agenda for insight and creativity.
L – R: Zara Mid-length Printed Dress, $69.90; Ilya Tie Wrapped Skirt, $29; Gestuz Lulu Silk High Neck Top, $258.67.
Aries
Always on-the-go and active, it’s no surprise that the Aries species is described to be a natural born athlete. You’re absolutely charming, obstinate and tenacious, no wonder there’s never really a dull moment for us when we’re around you. We like to describe your style as dynamic; balanced yet full of vitality.
L – R : ASOS Pleat Detail Trousers in Stripe, $141.29; ASOS Stripe Cross-back Top, $126.07; Cropped Sweatshirt, $39.90.
Taurus
You’re a richly sensual person; in the best possible way. You appreciate comfort; and it’s honestly ineffable to stress the extent of how much you really love kicking back and lounging by yourself. You find bliss in all areas – a comfortable blanket, the sound of rain, the crackling noise on the radio – and we’ll always look to you when we’re in the mood for chilling out. Nobody knows leisure as much as a Taurus native.
L – R: Pomelo Hi-Low Back Button Shirt, $34; Pomelo Belted Jumpsuit, $59; Zara Masculine Carrot Trousers, $89.90.
Gemini
You generally take life with a pinch of salt; trying your best to never over-analyse any given situation in order to maintain your sunny disposition. We can only conclude from your burning inert desire for self-expression and intellectual stimulation that you prefer to dress smart without – as usual – overcomplicating matters.
L – R: Zara 3/4 Sleeve Frilly Blouse, $59.90; Asos Stripe Peplum Top With V-Neck, $119.55; Pomelo Aletta Slit Dress, $44.
Cancer
You’re protective; of yourself, the people you care about, and – most riveting of all – objects with historical significance. Your soft spot for all things vintage and antique have left you caught up in little moments of reminiscence. You’re quite the romantic, and your calm and discreet persona serves to be extremely endearing.
L – R: Zara Printed Blouse, $59.90;Pomelo Reclaimed Vintage Button Front Minimal Jumpsuit, $86.95; Pomelo Floral Trousers, $29.
Leo
In a way, you’re very much like the symbol of your sign; the lion. Courageous , loyal, and always ready to charge ahead for the people you love. We support vanity here, especially if it means you get to look bomb.com whenever you nail every. single. outfit. And you manage to do that all the time. And how can you not? Considering how you’ve got the biggest, boldest statement looks of them all. Your statement printed ensembles pretty much describes your exuberant bursts of energy levels better than we ever will.
L – R: Zara Printed Top, $45.90; Pomelo Joselyn Leopard Print Maxi Dress, $84.
Virgo
When you take someone highly analytical and intelligent and add a strong sense of responsibility, you get a Virgo. Seriously, you guys make the best kind of friends (especially when we’re in trouble and we need to find a way out). Your love for all things clean and natural keeps you self-contained, which directly translates in your minimal, sleek style of dressing.
L – R: Zara Handmade Coat, $229; ASOS WHITE Oversized Denim Shirt Dress, $141.29; Pomelo Mendoza Bell Sleeve Blouse, $40.
Libra
You’re amazing when it comes to peace-keeping. Your calm and balanced nature causes you to avoid conflict rather than go around looking to start one. Money most definitely can buy happiness (at least in your books, it does) as you’d rather lavish on holidays or experiences which make you happy as compared to material gains. Your laid back, casual go-tos are a representation of how easy and breezy you’d like your life to be.
L – R: Topshop Petite Geo Cold Shoulder Top, $59.90; Pomelo Ezza Side Button Denim Skirt, $34; Mango Skinny Noa Jeans, $39.90.
Scorpio
Scorpios are usually known for their intensity; in passions, relationships and goals. The dark side of life intrigues you, and you’re always ready to get your hands dirty to investigate. Oh you curious little soul, we really wouldn’t want to mess with you. You’re not intimidated by anything – or anyone, and that form of bravery shows on your risqué outfit choices.
L – R: Topshop Plunge Wrap Body, $56.90; Zara Lace Camisole Jumpsuit, $56.90; Club L Overlay Bodysuit, $34.78.
Sagittarius
The party always seems to be wherever you’re at. But your energy and adventurous nature takes you from one place to another in just one flash. Phew, slow down cowboy, we can’t keep up. You’re enthusiastic, restless and cheerful. It’s only right that your quirky, exuberant outfits reflect your infectious optimism.
L – R: Asos Colour Block Cami Jumpsuit, $163.41; Pomelo Kiki Overall Jumper, $44; Zara Sports Sweater, $39.90.
Jared Leto x Carrera's Maverick Collection Is Exactly What We Need To Battle UV Rays In Style
We literally cannot get enough of this glorious meme that has been circulating the internet:
Jared Leto looking like a kid who had just discovered Willy Wonka’s factory is just what everybody needs to turn the worst possible day back around. But all jokes aside, we think our newest Joker is not all that insane when it comes to fashion. Step back boys, we may be dealing with a genius here.
Jared Leto recently collaborated with Carrera Eyewear, permeating their catalogue with shots of this hunky American heartthrob. Any fan of these smart Italian eyewear brand knows how big of a deal this is.
The Maverick Collection features 12 classy designs of shades and 3 opticals, all of which are sleek, contemporary and employ intricate laser-cutting technique to achieve its thin and featherlight quality. With frames such as the cat-eye and pilot, we can already guess how quickly these puppies will sell out. We must say, Leto’s cheekbones were basically designed to make sunglasses look good.
Carrera The Maverick Collection, $221 to $252. Available for pre-order at luisaviaroma.com.

September is officially the best month for music fans in Singapore, with the star-studded Ultra Singapore music festival and F1 Night Race concerts happening. But slotted in during the week between both events is Music Matters, a music festival that aims to raise the profile of talented musicians from around the globe.
From India to Israel, there’ll be over 30 artists from across 15 countries playing at the four-day festival, with a good mix of young upstarts and seasoned veterans featured in this year’s line-up. With such a diverse range of genres on display, it makes sense to have a diverse range of music venues as well, and that’s where the Timbre Group steps in. The dining chain’s many outlets will play host to some of the gigs, and will be joined by Millian, a nightclub that is located at St. James PowerStation.
Lastly, we’ve really got to hand it to the organisers of Music Matters for doing away with ticket charges and having no entrance fees. Two thumbs up for that!

The collection’s a diverse round-up of apparel, footwear and accessories, meant to “celebrate Hadid’s unique take on modern style, fused with Hilfiger’s signature “classic American cool” heritage”, and we do see those elements everywhere. The first few lookbook images feature strong nautical vibes, be it a long navy coat, sailor stripes, naval badges and embellishments, and a flared top, but these are paired with clean and versatile cuts that make it just as New York City-chic. Many of the pieces are paired with pants, high-waisted, denim, leather or otherwise, which plays up on her casual Cali style.
We’re also eyeing the bomber jacket, flared jeans and cable-knits, very on point nowadays. Other than the sporty-chic silhouettes you’d love to be touting on the streets, there’s also a bit of feminine chiffon dresses thrown into the mix, in the same navy colourway to blend in with the primarily blue, cream and black shades of the collection.
“Creatively speaking, it’s something that’s really true to my style—most of the pieces are things I would wear all the time. I wanted it to be something that when people look at it, they know I was the one who designed it and that it’s something I would genuinely wear. I’m very happy about it, she tell Vogue.
The TommyXGigi collection’s global premiere on the runway will take place on September 9 at New York Fashion Week, and if you’d like to see more, there’s an all-new Instagram account @tommyxgigi set up that shows behind-the-scenes shots of the collaboration.
TommyXGigi will be available to purchase at tommy.com and at the Tommy Hilfiger 5th Avenue flagship store in New York City from September 9; beginning September 10 it will be available at all Tommy Hilfiger stores globally and at select wholesale partners.
The Most Hilarious Local T-Shirts You Should Be Wearing
Sure, you’re all for keeping up with the latest trends in order to nail that #ootd, but sometimes, you just want to lounge around in t-shirts and a comfy pair of jeans, or, you’re a guy. Either way, here are the t-shirts only true blue Singaporeans would understand — and find funny.
For Those Who Love Their Singlish Puns
We’re a little late to the party as these would be more appropriate during the CNY visiting season, but look, they still have perennial appeal because everybody loves a singlish pun, especially when it references the exact dish served by your friendly neighbourhood Malay food stall aunty (no kidding, they’re all nice). Plus, a red shirt’s always useful, whether you need the extra “huat” for overnight mahjong sessions, or for when you’re feeling particularly patriotic.
For Those Who Think They’re Hilarious
You’re the person who scrambles to have your say on Facebook, but far be it that you should post a normal gripe on Pokemon Go/MPs/Jover Chew/influencers/the topic of the hour — you have to be darn smart about it, and have your friends know that as well. Which is fine if you can pull it off. These cross-cultural shirts are for you, and those who don’t get it, well.
For That Annoying Couple Who Are Definitely In Love
You can smell them from afar, from the mushy and lengthy TMI love letters they post on all forms of social media, to the same-y selfies/Boomerangs, to that overrated hand-holding-girl-with-her-back-towards-the-camera shot, and yes, those couple hashtags. But hey, none of these compare to the true #relationshipgoals couple here — the leads of our once-dreaded Chinese compositions, 小明 and 小丽, who are probably the kind of power couple every kid in school looked up to and admired and simultaneously scorned. They deserve each other, and as for your couple friends, they deserve these shirts.
For When You Want To Be Ironic About “Regardless Of Race”
Things are funnier when they’re obvious — these make great party gag gifts too. Just, don’t go walking into any Holland Village banks with the last one.
For Reminiscing On Those Good Old Days
Ah, to be young and carefree and also forced to study for your PSLE/other major soul-crushing examinations. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia speaking, but despite all the undue stress thrust upon us then, we can’t help but to look back on our schooling days with glee — and laugh at our failures too. That takes a hell lot of wisdom and insight, mind you. That said, they should really have the first one in a mug, if you know what we mean.
For When You Want To Jump Onboard The ‘Joseph Schooling’ Bandwagon
… But far more subtly than certain big brands do. Now where’s that chye tow kway t-shirt??
All t-shirts, $28.90 or $29.90, available at temasekclothings.com.

8 Original Pokémon with New Looks in Nintendo’s Sun & Moon
Good news if you’re a Pokémon fan. Nintendo is planning to release its highly anticipated Sun & Moon series on 18 November 2016 for the 3DS, and gamers can expect a whole raft of exciting features to come with the games.
For instance, there’ll be 150 new Pokémon to catch in the “Alola Region”, an area that is not so subtly based off Hawaii. As players embark on their quest to become the very best, they’ll have to face Island Challenges, Trials and Totem Pokémon, which marks a major shift from the traditional formula of facing Gym Leaders, a format that has proven so successful in the past.
What caught our attention though, was the announcement that some members of the original 150 Pokémon have new Alola forms, with some of them being completely different types! Here’s the ones we know about so far:
Raichu
Raichu gets a massive revamp in Sun & Moon; with an additional Psychic typing that allows it to float in the air on its tail. Its new ability – Surge Surfer – also gives it double the speed on electric terrains.
Marowak
The Alolan Marowak are a hybrid of Fire/Ghost, having adapted to their environments by changing from their usual Ground-type forms to protect themselves against Grass Pokémon, which happen to be very common in Alola.
Meowth
Meowth were never indigenous Pokémon of the Alola Region. Instead, they were given to royal families as extravagant gifts, with their life of luxury and indulgence making them self-centred, eventually causing them to change types from Normal to Dark.
Exeggutor
With an additional head on its tail, and an extra long neck, the Alolan Exeggutor is a whole lot more freaky than the ones we’re used to seeing. However, the Alolan people are proud of their Exeggutor, and they claim that the Alolan Exeggutor is Exeggutor’s true form. The Alolan Exeggutor is part grass, part dragon.
Sandshrew
In most Pokémon regions, Sandshrew is a Ground-type, but the Alolan Sandshrew is a mix of Ice and Steel. Why? Well, Sandshrew are primarily desert dwellers, but volcano eruptions forced them to find a new home in the Alolan Snow Mountains, where they changed their entire genetic makeup in order to survive.
Sandslash
The Alolan Sandslash keep the Ice/Steel typing when they evolve from Sandshrew, with protruding ice needles covering the length of their back. While they may be slower than normal Sandslash due to their icy body’s heaviness, they are extremely quick in snowfields and on ice terrains.
Vulpix
Originally a fire type, Vulpix moved to snow mountains to get away from other Pokémon, and they ended up taking on an ice form. The Alolan Vulpix is able to freeze anything solid with its breath of – 50°c, while it can also lower the surrounding environment’s temperature by dispersing ice particles from its tail.
Ninetales
When the Alolan Vulpix evolve to Ninetales, they take on additional fairy typing to become Ice/Fairy. These Pokémon are looked upon as sacred by the Alolan people, and in addition to being extremely beautiful, they can be supremely ferocious too, with their ability to fire bullet-like balls of ice at enemies.
