Reason to get pumped: 2012’s AAPE By A Bathing Ape is back this season with an all-new collection featuring not one, but three novel themed looks. The young menswear label’s 2016 Spring/Summer Collection pays homage to the rugged street aesthetic they’re so known for – with ‘Black City’, ‘Desert Army’, and ‘AAPE Sport’; all completely different yet still ever uniquely BAPE.
Black City: We’re digging the South Bronx vibes here, treated with a monochromatic palette that’s definitely a lot more wearable. AAPE’s signature camo pattern isn’t hard to miss, but keep a look out for the additional fluorescent print accents, which will surely keep you looking fresh and on fleek even in the dark. Someone cue Macklemore’s “Downtown”, already.
Desert Army: It’s good ol’ AAPE camo again, but this time with accentuated military details like army font, badge, radar, and warning signs worked into the earth-toned prints for a change from the usual khaki greens. Can’t say we’re fans of the overall pattern, which comes a little too close to NS Boy Aesthetic for comfort; but hey, to each his own.
AAPE Sport: Shoutout to the sporty-preppy richbois of all our country club dreams! Okay we kid, but there’s seriously nothing to hate about the tailored yet casual sportswear looks in this American tennis apparel-inspired series. Everything screams “MURICA” from the red/white/blue colour palette to the unapologetic stars/stripes combo, which, quite frankly, look a lot sexier than expected.

Don’t underestimate the importance of always having a good brow tool amongst the rest of your makeup. Skip out on the lip colour, the mascara, or even the foundation/BB cream if you want – but without at least quickly filling in your brows, we find that we tend to look more tired or washed out. And we hope you never, ever commit the cardinal sin of heading out with a full face of makeup… while leaving your brows undone.
We’re not saying it’s necessary to always head out with perfect brows, because we know that takes a lot more dedication than most of us can muster up in the mornings. What we are saying, though, is that it’s always a good idea to find a good brow tool that suits your preferences and skill levels, and always keep it close.
LANEIGE Natural Brow Liner
If you don’t want to venture too deeply into brow colour territory, keep it simple with a crayon liner with a built-in brow brush, like this one from Laneige. It has a gel and cream texture so the colour goes on smoothly, and you’ll never have to sharpen it. Two new colours, #3 Light Brown and #4 Khaki Brown, will be added to the shade range from May, so you’ll be able to find the right shade no matter what shade of brown your hair is. $26, available at LANEIGE boutiques and counters.
M.A.C Big Brow Pencil
For big brows, we turn to a big pencil. We actually would call this one a marker instead of a pencil, with a large felt tip to easily draw on soft-focus brows. No sharp ends and defined arches with this one, but the wax and powder formula leaves a nice tint – so we’d use this one to do Korean-style straight brows. Remember, straight brows are meant to soften your face, not make you look permanently angry by adding two harsh straight lines above your eyes. $33, available at M.A.C stores and counters.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Brow
There are three parts to this sophisticated looking brow tool, but it’s not all that hard. Start with filling in the brows with the mechanical pencil in the direction of hair growth – the angled tip helps you navigate brow arches and ends with ease. Then smooth out the colour with the bristle brush, and finish off with the most unique part of this product: the detachable crayon in a matte illuminating shade, which you’re supposed to apply under the outer ends of the brows, to highlight your brow bones and lift the entire face. $40, available at Sephora.
L’Oréal Makeup Designer Paris Brow Artist Chisel Straight
If you’ve shied away from filling in your brows with a bristle brush due to the lack of precision, this one comes with a nifty pointed foam tip on the brush, so you can get full-bodied brows while keeping the edges neat. Comb through your brows with the brush part in a zigzag motion, then shape the arches and ends with the tip. $19.90, available at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa and selected Fairprice and department stores.
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Brow Box
Okay, maybe this one is more suited for those with lighter hair – the two shades were created for Gwen Stefani after all – but they’re still relatively versatile light browns that won’t look too out of place on Asian skin. What we love about this is how the compact double-layered kit opens up to reveal two mini brow brushes for all your brow filling, shading and sculpting needs, and a pair of mini tweezers so you’ll never have a brow hair out of place. Complete with the setting wax, and we’d go as far as to say this tiny box contains all the brow tools you’ll ever need. $48, available at Urban Decay stores and Sephora.

Every once in a while we’re reminded of just how much someone by the career title of “Influencer” or “Blogger”, or “Youtuber” can earn in this grossly unjust world. This post is one of those reminders. We had a dig around one of our favourite social media personalities’ epic sunglasses collection and unearthed just how much each prized pair of sunnies costs. It’s safe to say the results were terrifying. Welcome, plebeians, to the lustworthy world of Jenn Im’s (@imjennim) sunglasses.
Total damage = estimated S$3219.54, assuming dear Jenn managed to snag these on sale.
Bear in mind these are just her top 10 go-to shades. As avid subscribers we’ve seen many others come and go during her time on Youtube, and if this list is anything to go by, Jenn certainly has expensive taste. One thing’s for sure – girl definitely takes her sunglass investments seriously.
Didn’t manage to get your hands on a pair of adidas NMDs? That’s okay, you can either look for em’ on the resale market (Carousell, eBay, etc.) or wait for the next drop. Just prepare to pay a little higher than the retail price if you’re going for the former.
Or, you could check out adidas Originals’ latest addition to its ZX Flux series, the ZX Flux ADV. This sneaker is a style update of the classic ZX Flux silhouette and is meant for a newer, more mature and discerning kind of wearer. Here’s a little history: back in 2014, adidas Originals decided to bring back the 1988 ZX 8000 and give it a fresh spin in the form of the ZX Flux. It was updated with a one-piece upper but retained the ZX 8000 plastic heel counter and classic Torsion-infused sole unit. The new ZX Flux ADV was designed and crafted around the theme of “expression”, embodying the same winning design principles of the original ZX Flux series, but in a more polished and sophisticated package. It features a seamless, breathable perforated mesh upper, rubberised 3-stripes on the sides and a transparent, moulded heel cage. adidas Originals ZX Flux ADV, $139-$149. Available at adidas Originals stores.
Not a fan of i.t’s :CHOCOOLATE collection? Well with this latest addition to the long line of :CHOCOOLATE featured characters, you just might be – especially if you like fat, sassy orange cats.
That’s right; the newest member of the i.t family is none other than the lovably snarky Garfield himself, bringing in tow his owner Jon Arbuckle and Jon’s slightly less sharp dog Odie. It’s a flashback to the good ol’ days of cartoon-printed tees, though this time on a more socially acceptable black-white-grey palette. And there’s definitely something for every Garfield fan, whether you’re a graphic groupie who likes the idea of having all the characters on one shirt, or someone who prefers a little more subtlety – in which case the oxford nylon shirts emblazoned with a single Garfield icon would be more appropriate.
Available for men, women, and children, there’re even sports accessories, for if and when you’re feeling the athletic vibe; where the cocky cat makes his appearance yet again on a set of headbands, wristbands, and water bottles (free upon a single net purchase of $150 and above on the :CHOCOOLATE x Garfield collection). As part of the more chichi line :WHITE CHOCOOLATE – a subset of the regular street-meets-chic :CHOCOOLATE – this new collaboration merges “mass” and “prestige” for a fresher take on casual wear that’s, clearly, just as wearable.
i.t :CHOCOOLATE x Garfield collection, $29.90 to $89.90, available at :CHOCOOLATE Bugis Junction and :CHOCOOLATE orchardgateway from 22 April 2016. itlabels.com.sg
It’s easy to feel like you’re always in need of a new dress. Wedding to attend? Buy a new dress. Scored a big date? Buy a new dress. Fancy dinner coming up? Buy an extra fancy new dress, of course.
We’ve been there, and can tell you it can be a real drag when you’ve scoured countless shops but can’t seem to find the right dress. And because we’ve been there so many times, we also can tell you that more often than not, it’s been Topshop that has come to our rescue. The high street brand always seems to have a dress for every occasion, from casual sundresses to dance around in at your next music festival, ranging all the way to glamorous pieces to dress up in for the special nights out.
Clockwise from top left:
Bandana Print Ring Slip Dress, $89.90;
Daisy Contrast Shift Dress, $229
Long Sleeve Applique Mini Dress, $136;
It also really, really helps that Topshop also happens to stock a full range of footwear and accessories so you’ll surely be able to find the right ones to match your dress of choice, whether it’s a bright embroidered clutch to stand out nicely against a white applique dress, or black strappy heels to anchor the floral prints on a midi dress – we always like the feeling of able to settle all our shopping in one place. Phew.
Coachella is coming in just three days, and you have nothing to wear! But luckily for you, you probably aren’t even going anyway – unless you suddenly have $1.6k lying around to drop on a ticket to Cali. As much as we’re bummed and wanderlusting about the fashion-slash-music festival event of the year, there’s only so long you can stay mopey about missing out. So take the opportunity to treat yourself to some Coachella-inspired retail therapy, and nab some of these sweet picks just to wear around Singapore, because you’re badass like that. Plus, what with the weather these days (ie. everyday), all dem crop tops and fringe are tropical island-appropriate too.
So many people have told us that they have sensitive skin that we’ve stopped to wonder: Can that big a proportion of the population really have sensitive skin? And what’s the definition of sensitive skin anyway? If using one product gives you a breakout, does that mean you have sensitive skin?
So once and for all, we decided to find out what having sensitive skin really means. Various dermatology sources reveal that there’s actually no fixed definition for “sensitive skin”; experts generally accept that it refers to the skin’s reaction to the use of skincare products or other external aggressors such as even the weather, which leads to it becoming red, itchy and sometimes even painful. Existing skin conditions like eczema and rosacea can also be major contributing factors to sensitive skin.
Basically, we wouldn’t label just any negative skin reaction to a product a result of sensitive skin; only if such reactions happen frequently and after use of a significant proportion of products you try, would we then say you have sensitive skin. Experience a breakout once or twice after trying a new product? That’s just your skin reacting to something that isn’t suited for it – probably not a sensitive skin diagnosis.
But we understand if you’d like to play it safe – we see how one bad breakout as a result of using an ill-suited product can be one breakout too many. Whether you truly have chronic sensitive skin or have experienced a few unfortunate skin reactions, we’ve picked out the skincare products that are truly safe for sensitive skin.
ETUDE HOUSE True Relief range
This K-Beauty brand may be known more for princessy makeup products than sensitive skin-friendly products, but they’ve made sure that this range’s formula is non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, and the main ingredient is the True Relief Complex that’s made of only plant-based ingredients, taken from apricot, chestnut and chicory – all known to be natural ingredients that help soothe sensitive skin and strengthen the skin barrier. The range’s made up of a moisturising mist, emulsion and cream, which all work to gently hydrate delicate skin while protecting it from external aggressors. $27.90 to $32.90, available at ETUDE HOUSE stores.
CHANEL La Solution 10 de Chanel
Again, a product for sensitive skin from an unexpected brand. Chanel has made sure to formulate its first “comforting moisturiser” with only 10 ingredients, so as to not irritate the skin with an overcomplicated formula. The star ingredient is the Silver Needle Tea, an incredibly luxurious type of white tea that provides active ingredients with the power to soothe, calm and defend the skin. The moisturiser works to reduce dryness, discomfort such as tightness and stinging, and reduce appearance of redness and roughness. $125, CHANEL Beauty stores and counters
Bioderma Hydrabio range
If your sensitive skin woes are of the dry, tight skin variety, Bioderma’s Hydrabio range is made to strengthen the skin’s barrier, so you get the dual advantages of keeping the products’ hydrating ingredients in, and external irritants out. We already know Bioderma’s cult micellar waters – the Hydrabio H2O is definitely something you should be using to remove your makeup if you suffer from perpetually parched skin – but what you might not know is, the Hydrabio range has recently been expanded to include a primer, gel-creme and rich creme. $41.90 to $49.90, available at selected Watsons, Guardian, Unity, Robinsons and John Little stores
MUJI Sensitive Skincare
Like the rest of Muji’s products, its Sensitive Skincare range is kept simple. It’s mainly water-based, but not just any kind of water – specifically, it’s cavern water from the Iwate prefecture in eastern Japan, which is “super soft” as it’s free from the dissolved minerals that make water “hard”. This water is also the same pH level as human tears, so it won’t irritate even the most sensitive of skin; and of course, there’s no mineral oils, parabens, alcohol, fragrance, and colouring additives. Simple. $1.60 to $23, available at MUJI stores
Curél BB Cream
Sensitive skin likely means that you shy away from most makeup products – putting layers of potentially pore-clogging product on your face just seems unnecessary when it means having to deal with consequences like a bad breakout. Curél is already known for skincare made for sensitive skin, and this recently extended into makeup, finally. The Curél BB Cream has the same ceramide ingredient as the brand’s skincare range, which is exactly what dry, sensitive skin lacks, and hence its inability to retain moisture and protect itself against external irritants. The coverage is light yet even, and the two shades let you choose between a brightening or natural finish. $24.80, Guardian and Watsons
…because we all need a little something to be excited about today. These new trailers just came out over the past week (and some a few hours ago at the MTV Movie Awards), which gives even more insight to the superhero/anti-hero/villain/epic space opera/magical films we’re all looking forward to. Here they are, in case you’ve missed it.
*** MARVEL’S CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Release Date: 28 April 2016
Director: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Cast: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson
Rating: To be advised
It seems like 2016 has become the year where we’re all forced to pledge our allegiance to our favourite superheroes/villains, be it Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Captain America, the X-Men or Apocalypse. Very tough decision indeed. Marvel’s Captain America: The Civil War follows the events after The Avengers: Age of Ultron (we all remember how that turned out, right?). The government’s looking to regulate these superhuman activities, but obviously the blue and the red don’t see eye-to-eye (we now know Spidey’s on Iron Man’s team). Also, you might wanna check out this clip that made its debut at the MTV Movie Awards show this morning (you can see how well Scarlet Witch, Falcon and Captain America work as a team).
— X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
Release Date: 19 May 2016
Director: Bryan Singer
Cast: Jennifer Lawerence, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn
Rating: To be advised
Some fans agree that the X-Men:The Last Stand wasn’t as great as they hoped it would be; the film did not do justice to one of the most popular X-Men story arcs, “the Dark Phoenix Saga”. But ever since Days of Future Past, the timeline has been reset and we get to see Jean Grey and Cyclops again. Even the post-credits stinger was epic! Director Bryan Singer follows up on where he left off with the new X-Men: Apocalypse, which features a supervillain whose powers trace back to old Egypt. Set in 1983, he and his four horsemen plan to take over the world, unless of course, the X-Men can stop them. With the soft reset of the X-men universe timeline, who knows what other story arcs Bryan will throw in, especially with the new, younger Cyclops (played by Tye Sheridan) and the return of Jean Grey (played by Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner). We must say, Olivia Munn is looking damn good as Psylocke!
— SUICIDE SQUAD
Release Date: 4 August 2016
Director: David Ayer
Cast: Will Smith, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne
Rating: To be advised
Yes, Ben Affleck will be reprising his role as Batman in the upcoming film, Suicide Squad (you can actually catch a glimpse of him in this trailer, if you look close enough). This band of misfits includes some of the biggest villains in DC. They’ve been released from prison and teamed up by the government to go on a mission to take on an “enigmatic, insuperable” entity. Obviously that’s not going to go down very well, especially after witnessing a chase scene between Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker in this trailer. Harley Quinn is also given quite a significant amount of screen time (just like the previous trailer), and we’re convinced that Margot Robbie will put on a good performance. Can’t wait!
— FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
Release Date: 17 November 2016
Director: David Yates
Cast: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller
Rating: To be advised
Harry Potter fans, unite! Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them takes place 70 years before the famed Harry Potter even enrolls into Hogwarts. This upcoming spin-off stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, who actually wrote the book on which the title of this movie is based. There’s no clear plot per se, but it seems it’s gonna start with the story of how Newt got expelled from Hogwarts, even though Dumbledore argued strongly against it. After arriving in New York for a quick stop over, he finds himself tangled in the magical wizarding world of New York. While there are a lot of references to the Harry Potter saga (ahh the music brings so much nostalgia), we do hope we get to see more beasts in this film. It’s also J. K. Rowling’s first foray into screenwriting, and the first installment of a trilogy, so hold on to your seats!
— ROGUE ONE : A STAR WARS STORY
Release Date: 15 December 2016
Director: Gareth Edwards
Cast: Felicty Jones, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker
Rating: To be advised
We’ve already waxed lyrical about the trailer when it came out on Friday night, but we just can’t get enough of it. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a spin-off from the epic space soap opera, which sees the events that take place just before the original film trilogy. It tells the story from the perspective of the rebellion and shows Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones) being recruited by the rebellion to find out about a mission test (enter the Death Star) and how they can destroy it. This will probably unravel the story of how the Death Star plans were stolen, only to end up in the hands of Princess Leia (the big mystery in Star Wars: A New Hope). We also see the return of Mon Mothma, one of the most iconic women characters in the Star Wars universe. Everyone remembers her as the leader of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, whose screentime lasted lass than two minutes. Mon Mothma was also slated to appear in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but that scene didn’t make the final cut. This time, they’ve casted the same actress, Genevieve O’Reilly, who will play the role that was originally portrayed by Caroline Balkiston. Exciting times.
An open call to all young, aspiring talents out there – if you’re looking for a professional platform to hone your skill and further your passion for music, photography, moving images, and art & design; here’s your chance.
The 11th edition of Noise Singapore is back, and with it its killer mentorship programmes – extended and improved for even greater results. It isn’t just about breaking into the industry and making waves; Noise is and always has been about the nurturing of sincere, genuine young talents with a determination to improve and excel – and not just reap in the fame. That’s why the NAC has made it a point to bring in experienced industry partners as mentors, and even increase the mentorship period from four months to six. The longer period means many things – more exposure, more time to work closely with mentors to gain insight and practical knowledge, and above all greater involvement in the curatorial process leading up to the finale showcases, which are certainly a highlight of the Noise mentorship programmes. Plus, this year, mentees themselves get to decide on the artist direction of their work, instead of just working to fit a chosen theme. Greater artistic responsibility? Yes, ma’am.
Aspiring musicians, then, can look forward to working under the Noise Music Mentorship (NMM) with Thunder Rock School, which will connect mentees with established players in the local music fraternity through courses and workshops. Mentors include household names like Inch Chua, Vanessa Fernandez, and Jack and Rai’s Jack Ho, along with seasoned instrumentalists like Sara Wee and Martin Kong. As for those keener on visual arts, there’re mentor-mentee dialogue sessions and workshops, under the Noise Art Mentorship (NAM), spearheaded by Objectifs and OH! Open House – for Photography & Moving Images, and Interdisciplinary Art components respectively. Both programmes promise a whirlwind six months of learning under the best, before culminating in a concert put up by the NMM mentees, and an arts exhibition by the NAM kids.
Frankly, it shouldn’t take much more convincing to send in your earnest application; but the proximity to becoming a household name in the Singapore music and arts scene can’t hurt too.
Registration for Noise Singapore 2016 is open from now till 2 May 2016 at noisesingapore.com.
Looks like PUMA’s taking another confident leap in the territory of laceless footwear, with this month’s release of the all-new IGNITE DISC Sleeve. It’s another step up on comfort-meets-performance innovation, which basically means it’s a lethal combination for athletes everywhere.
You know the DISC – it’s PUMA’s revolutionary technological system that keeps your shoes tight without the fuss of laces, via a plastic disc that pulls internal wires to tighten the upper for a comfortable fit. The disc sits prominently on the front and square of the tongue, working together with the wires so you get a more customised, snug fit; whether it’s for running laps or getting down on the tennis courts. In celebration of their 25th anniversary, the handy, chic DISC system gets a sleek new update for the IGNITE DISC Sleeve, working with the brand’s IGNITE FOAM technology for a slimmer silhouette that’s twice as comfy. And sport performance aside, we’re definitely feeling the new futuristic yet minimalist upper on these bad boys, which come in all-black and an effortlessly cool white/black colourway. One thing’s for sure – PUMA sure knows how to celebrate a 25th birthday.
PUMA DISC Sleeve All-Black, $229; White/Black, $239, available at all PUMA retail stores and authorised retailers. puma.com
The next rainbow bagel? Probably not, but the new #briyo buns – half brioche, half fro-yo – from Squeezed! are certainly a tasty food trend to keep your eye on.
For starters, we can already tell they’re going to be a hit on Instagram, because have you seen the UFO likeness of the buns? It’s an aesthetically pleasing equation of tart, all-natural frozen yogurt sandwiched between two toasted brioche buns – sealed only after you’ve sprinkled your fro-yo with nuts, fruits, and luscious honey. With four sweet dessert buns (Bed & Breakfast, Life’s A Peach, Smores & More, and Elvis’ Reese), and two savoury options (Tori Tori teriyaki chicken and Royal Rumble’s truffled macaroni with nacho cheese), there’s quite easily something for everyone. Still unconvinced? You can choose to personalise your very own Squeezed! bun – starting at $4.30 for a plain brioche with fro-yo, and an additional $0.90 for 1 topping; $1.50 for 2.
Though Squeezed! first started out in 2014 as a cold-pressed juice and yogurt bar, the quirky local label is rolling out their savoury and sweet briyo buns like hot cakes. Unfortunately, for those of us who don’t live in the Northeast (guess we can’t all be happily engaged BTO couples), it’ll take a trek down to the recently opened Punggol Waterway Point for a taste of these novel desserts. But when your reward is a natural, nutritious snack that’s scrummy (and pretty!) to boot; it honestly is worth the trip. Address: 83 Punggol Central, #B1-K8, Singapore 828761 Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily Price: $5.80 for a signature briyo squeezed.sg Featured image from squeezed.sg.
We’ll be the first to admit it – we’re sneakerheads, and no amount of jazzy pumps or strappy Zanottis can diminish our love for the humble, comfy sneaker. So our latest and greatest obsession? Swedish sneaker label Axel Arigato, whose sleek, chic footwear combine the sporty aesthetic of Adidas and the classic minimalism of Alexander Wang.
Started only in 2014, Axel Arigato was born out of founders Albin Johannson and Max Svardh’s desires to create a brand that was continually relevant to the new trends emerging in the digital age everyday. You’d think that the sneaker market would be oversaturated by now, but there’s just something about the modern cuts and pantone hues of Axel Arigato’s various collections that stick, and stand out. They may have started out as a men’s-only footwear label, but since June 2015, the clean, sharp shapes have been made available to the ladies as well – by popular demand, of course; and hell are we glad. From laceless sneaks to classic cap-toe platforms, the subtle chic Swedish influences are loud and clear with these timeless beauts. It’s a luxury shoe worthy of a walk down the runway, but without the couture price tag; so it’s pretty to safe to say – we’re in love.
If you were a teenage girl in the 2000s, you probably scrimped and saved (or begged your parents) to get the iconic Lancôme Juicy Tubes lip glosses. After all, super-shiny lip glosses in all colours of the rainbow were one of the defining beauty trends of the decade, in a time when matte lips weren’t even an idea yet. So we collected as many Juicy Tubes as our teenage selves could afford and wore the shiny and sometimes glittery fruit-flavoured lip colours with pride, with the knowledge that we had just gained entry into the world of grown-up makeup.
That’s why this upcoming release from Lancôme has gotten us almost teary-eyed with nostalgia. The all-new Juicy Shakers make us think back to a time of Paris Hilton and Von Dutch trucker caps, but with some pretty major updates to make them relevant today. As its name and the packaging design implies, yes, this works like a drinks shaker where you shake the bottle to mix the oil and colour pigments together, creating a concoction of satiny colour that goes on nice and sheer.
Apparently, Lancôme has also looked even further back in time for inspiration when creating these Juicy Shakers. Brand founder Armand Petitjean created a cocktail-inspired lipstick way back in 1946, in celebration of the popularity of cocktails as glamorous symbols at that time. Since we can safely say cocktails haven’t gone out of fashion 70 years later, it’s a smart move by Lancôme, making drinks-inspired makeup a thing again.
To apply, just unscrew the bottle to reveal a pointed cushion applicator, which resembles a marker felt tip, designed to be super-soft on the lips and to easily navigate your lip contours, with no danger of applying too much product. This time round, there’s also a new, decidedly un-fruity shade: Mint To Be, which appears as a light turquoise in the tube, but goes on as a transparent blue to enhance the lips’ natural pinkish colouring.
With 20 shades in total, each one carrying a different fruity scent just like the original Juicy Tubes, this just reawakens our teenage need to collect them all.
Lancôme Juicy Shaker, $36 each. Available at Lancôme counters from June 2016. lancome.com.sg
*GASP* Last night, we were losing our shit when they released a teaser trailer for today’s official trailer. And now, it’s finally here, in all its glory. By the looks of things, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story seems to be taking a very different approach to the rejuvenated sci-fi saga. This is the first of many planned spin-off movies that’s supposedly set just before the events of the original film (before Episode IV: A New Hope but after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith). Obviously this will be taken in the perspective of the rebellion and will probably not have a heavy Jedi presence (maybe Darth Vader might make an appearance, maybe not). Taking the lead from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One also features a diverse cast with a female lead (Felicity Jones) and a supporting cast consisting of Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelssohn, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Jonathan Aris and Riz Ahmed.
So what’s the potential plot line here? Well, if you’re familiar with the Star Wars films you might’ve already figured it out even before the trailer was released. Remember how A New Hope started out? The rebellion (aka Princess Leia) already had the stolen Death Star plans, which she passed to R2-D2, setting in motion the original trilogy. Even with the “prequel trilogy” before it, we still don’t know how Leia managed to get her hands on those plans.
Now, back to the trailer. Felicity Jones, who plays a character named Jynn Ersa (or something like that), has been given a mission to find out about a mission test (cut scene to the Death Star) and how they can destroy it. She’s probably been tasked to steal the Death Star plans, and with that kind of fiesty attitude, she’s probably their best bet. Enter super sinister villain in white (we really want to know who this is), AT-ATs and Stormtroopers (some new designs too!). Well, your guess is as good as ours, so take a look at the trailer below and tell us what you think:
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is slated for release on 15 December this year.

Tulipmania at Gardens By The Bay
Yes, it’s back! For everyone with a soft spot for the beautiful famed tulips of the Netherlands (and who doesn’t, really), these multi-coloured buds are back for the fourth year to grace the Garden Dome. Last year saw a fairy tale-themed affair to delight even the oldest of hearts. This time, they’re set against a stuffing Persian-style backdrop, as a tribute to their lesser-known origins in the ancient Ottoman Empire – also known as present-day Turkey. Feel free to simply wander around in awe of the 40 or so tulip varieties in full bloom, or join a free guided ASK Me! tour to learn about botanical facts and anecdotes regarding the floral display. RIOT! By Becca D’Bus
Singapore’s leading drag show should be next on your list of things to check out over the weekend, especially if you’re a curious first-timer. After a short hiatus, RIOT! is returning to fill our lives with love, laughs, and a whole lot of unapologetic trash talk. The fabulous and flamboyant Becca D’Bus, prominent drag queen of the local drag scene, is definitely the hostess with the mostest, and will kick off the night before ringing in Saturday’s line of performers – Mona Kee Kee, Noristar, and Papa Cherry. Feeling down and out this first week of April? Head down to Clarke Quay and let mama Becca take care of you. You’re in for a real treat. Date: 9 April 2016 Time: 7pm (doors) 8pm (showtime) Venue: Shanghai Dolly, Clarke Quay Admission: $35 to $450 (*Event is 18+) Tickets available at riot09april2016.peatix.com More info at riotdragshow.com
Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day 2016
Definitely one of the happiest days of the year, Free Cone Day is back and happening at a Scoop Shop near you. While we’re a little bummed that the number of B&J locations have been reduced to just 313@Somerset, Vivo City, and Dempsey, to make up for it, FCDSg will be offering free toppings for the first time ever, to go with all your free scoops. It’s eight full hours of queuing, so come with entertainment! Date: 12 April 2016 Time: 12pm – 8pm Venue: 313@Somerset, Vivo City, and Dempsey More info at benjerry.com.sg
