This Local Beauty Brand Is Too Yummy Not To Eat

Ever fallen in love with rose bandung so much you wished you could wear it on your lips? Well, bizarrely, now you can. In a move echoing that of American lip balm giant LipSmacker, the all-new artisanal beauty brand Shophouse Sixtyfive has released bandung-flavoured lip balm – amongst a ton of other tasty locally flavoured balms!

Inspired by the heritage of none other than our little red dot, Shophouse Sixtyfive specialises in handcrafted bath and beauty products made with the heart, and enriched with the Singaporean soul. Quite naturally, everything sold is locally themed too. Branded under “Kopitiam Lipbalms”, the handmade balms are packed with natural ingredients to keep your lips nourished, while sticking to names and flavours that sound too yummy to just apply. There’s Coffeeshop Kopi-o, Rose Bandung, and Honeydew Sago, but what we’ve got our eye on is Sir Stamford – a cheeky “British” mix of breakfast tea aromas and caramel. Delish.

You can also get your hands on beeswax-based cheek and lip tints – will it be Wah Chio Bu, Samsui Lady, or Kampong Girl? – as well as lip scrubs and other beauty accessories. Singaporean pride or not, we’ll be stocking up.

Tried and Tested: An Honest Review Of These "Bad" Wholesale Websites

You know those dodgy looking Chinese websites that advertise cute cocktail dresses for only $7.99? The ones where you scrolled through thinking, ‘only a sucker would ever buy from here’. Well, thankfully for you, I was broke and desperate enough to try purchasing from some of these very sites, despite the many scathing reviews floating around the Internet. So if you’ve ever wondered what shopping there was like, and whether the clothes really come out looking like they do on the site – I’ve got you covered.
Observer.com once published a compilation of the top hated wholesale websites on the market – which I was surprised to see included some bigger names that I’ve seen YouTubers try, not to mention personally purchased from myself. One thing I noticed in common between all the bad reviews were that they were usually left by larger-sized American or European ladies, and that they had opted to buy pretty unusual items (think lots of lace and poorly-placed ruffles) that were, frankly, pretty ugly to begin with. So I took the plunge, the short, Chinese girl that I am, who couldn’t believe that websites from “my own kind” could fare as badly for me as for Westerners. Here’s a rundown of what I discovered.

1. Romwe

To start with, I had pretty high hopes for Romwe. It’s considered one of the more reputable Asian wholesale websites out there, and a regular online shopping destination for YouTubers like @Itslinamar, @TheLineUp, and @grav3yardgirl. Founded in Nanjing, China, in 2009, Romwe stocks a lot of on-trend pieces that you can often buy for under US$20 – which makes me one happy shopper.

Verdict:

romwe1  image4 (2)

romwe2      image1 (4)

Well… Could’ve been worse. Both items actually turned out pretty true-to-picture (although I’m deducting points for the pic of the dress that’s clearly stolen), and if anything, came out a little too big on me. I got an S in the dress and an L for the skirt (my bad, I was paranoid), and while the former felt cheap and flimsy – not to mention sheer – the denim skirt was actually pretty decently made. So if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from shopping at Romwe, it’s to take every measurement they give you super seriously, because every piece is different.

Rating: 6.5/10
Shipping time: 2 weeks
Would I shop again? Maybe, the frequent 50% off sales are pretty enticing, and they do have some pretty stuff.

2. Taobao

Obviously I’m going to include this. Taobao isn’t a standalone wholesale website, per se, since it works as more of a buying platform connecting shoppers to a bunch of independent retailers. But there’s always still risk involved. Even after you’ve managed to navigate through the Chinese lettered interface, there’s still the matter of using freight forwarders to further complicate your shopping.

Verdict:

I’m impressed. Everything I ordered came out looking pretty much exactly the same as pictures, and the measurements provided were perfect. Even the material on the satin bomber jacket wasn’t too shabby, which took me by surprise. I’ve heard that Taobao can be pretty hit-or-miss, so maybe I just had a lucky first experience.

Rating: 7.5/10
Shipping time: A SOLID MONTH. Sheesh. The biggest downside is that since a single order from Taobao can be from different retailers, all your stuff can arrive at different times, which can make the whole receive-a-present-from-yourself thing a little… anti-climatic.
Would I shop again? All that said… probably not, unless someone kindly offers to help with my order. It’s just too much of a hassle; online shopping should be something enjoyable, not remind you of the fear you had embarking on a Chinese comprehension.

3. Tobi

Now this one’s just completely unfounded. Based in California, Tobi features a sleek, polished site with original lookbooks, and is quite easily a favourite amongst fashion bloggers and YouTubers. And it’s not even that cheap! If anything, it’s probably the permanent “50% off storewide” sales (50% off your first order too) that seem a little sketchy to first-timers.

Verdict:

image1 (5)
(The product image got taken down, probably OOS.)

Haters gonna hate, but I’m sold. I can’t even fathom why Tobi would be included in a hate list – their product images are 100% original and well-shot, they personally cast their models, and they sell quality clothing any online brand would be proud to stock. In fact, the layout and photography reminds me a lot of a less frisky NastyGal, which can only ever be a good thing. My buys fit great, and are even better quality than some of the NastyGal pieces I’ve purchased before.

Rating: 8.5/10
Shipping time: 2-3 weeks
Would I shop again? Yes! Although it’ll have to be a while before my next order seeing as the prices aren’t that competitive.

4. SheIn

Formerly known as SheInside, this Asian wholesale site is probably a not-so-distant relative of Romwe, given that they’re both based in China, and have very similar site layouts and product images (ie. stolen, sorry). SheIn is possibly also the website to have received the most flak, for poor customer service, lost packages, and general dissatisfaction with the delivered product. Yikes.

Verdict:

shein 1   image5 (2)

shein2 shein3image7 (1)

Did I get lucky again? All my items came in the expected cheap, clear packaging of many Chinese retail sites – but in stellar condition. The fit was right, the products looked like what the pictures promised, and the material looked pretty good too – like what you’d get from any fast fashion retailer out there. A tip: unless it’s something you’re dying to have, go for items that have customer photo reviews, or that you know will generally fit okay (so outerwear and basic tops are usually fine).

Rating: 8/10
Shipping time: 2 weeks
Would I shop again? Probably, even if it’s just to test whether my first order really was beginner’s luck.

Final thoughts?
Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. My personal take is that the stuff sold on these Asian wholesale websites naturally fit us better, since they’re tailored for smaller physiques – so we have the upper hand! Also, you’re better off purchasing safer pieces that can’t deviate too far from pictures, stolen or not (I’m a little more cautious when buying bottoms online anyway). For more peace of mind, watch a few YouTube reviews of the site you’re thinking of trying – even if they are sponsored posts framed within a positive review, at least you’ll get to see the products in the video to make an informed judgment for yourself. And honestly, most of the stuff is so cheap; what’ve you got to lose?

Warehouse Gives Us the Minimalist Collection We Need

Yeah, well, to an extent, we can all do minimalist wear. Rock a t-shirt and jeans with attitude, or a floor-length maxi t-shirt dress, just not shorts and slippers at Orchard Road. The harder task though, is going “minimalist”, but still desiring to stand out, which is why we really admire Warehouse’s latest collection because it does exactly that, while making it totally fuss-free.

Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (4) Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (11) Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (12)

This time, they’re paired up with the winner of their talent search, Lowri Edwards. The competition is a result of Warehouse and the British Fashion Council’s Colleges Council inviting universities to nominate a stand-out graduate collection, after which they pick a winner who then receives a six-month stint with Warehouse’s in-house design and production teams.

Lowri, originally from South Wales, graduated from De Montfort University in 2015 with a 2:1 in Fashion Design (BA), and here we see the glorious fruits of her labour.
Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (3) Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (7) Lowri Edwards for WAREHOUSE (6)

It’s a thoughtful collection that feels homely, with elements of comfort that remind us of duvets, quilts and pillowcases, seen mostly in the up-close details of the garments. At the same time, these are given a luxurious upgrade on dresses and premium patchwork shirts, all cut to perfection, while a gold leather skirt toughens the mostly neutral palette. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill minimalist outfits.
The Warehouse x British Fashion Council collection will be available exclusively in Warehouse ION Orchard store from 24 March 2016, priced from S$199 – S$599.

Introducing: The CLIO Lippies for All Matte Lip Virgins

Hooray! Looks like the Korean beauty gurus are taking a step forward in the area of matte makeup, which has honestly been pretty overdue now. To celebrate, CLIO has launched two brand new lip products – to help all the Matte Makeup Virgins out there take that first steamy dive in.

walao

For those of you who still aren’t too keen on liquid-to-matte formulas, there’s the safe but versatile Virgin Kiss Tinted Lip Matte. The star feature has to be the easy buildability – you can swatch lightly for a Kpop-style ombre lip, or go maximum coverage and build to a full matte. Don’t let the velvety consistency of this cream lipstick fool you; the matte finish is a comfortable, solid look. Plus, skin-loving nutrients including olive oil and jojoba seed oil in the formula keep your lips feeling nourished and moisturised all day.

And before you balk at the name, take a chance on the Virgin Kiss Silkuid Lip Mattes – so named to deliver their promise of smooth, silky lips despite the matte finish. With six shades ranging from classic reds to flirty pinks, the Silkuid Lip Mattes glide like a gloss but dry into a light, weightless matte. Looks like we’ll be adding this to our list of local liquid lipsticks.

CLIO Virgin Kiss Tinted Lip Matte, $19.90; Virgin Kiss Silkuid Lip Mattes, $22.90, available in selected Watsons stores from 24 March 2016.

A first for Asia, the Game of Thrones Experience: World of Westeros (#GOTAsiaWOW) will also include a display of weapons from the series like the Oathkeeper (given to Brienne of Tarth by Jaime Lannister), Arya Stark’s Needle, Ned Stark’s Ice and the White Walker sword, a replica of the Iron Throne that you can sit on and experience, original storyboards and concept art and photo opportunities with Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon, Drogon.

Buckle Up For The Ultimate Leo Marathon

Like the rest of the world, we’re still on a bit of a high from Leo’s legendary Oscar win last night. Unlike the rest of the world, we’re taking time out of our busy schedules to fit in a much-needed Leo marathon to join in the celebration. And this weekend, you probably should to. Here are our top picks on getting the best of Leonardo DiCaprio.

1. Romeo & Juliet (1996)

Ease yourself in with this Shakespeare-tween-dream classic, featuring a very yummy 22-year-old Leo. Plus, it’s the film that first catapulted him into mainstream spotlight, so it’s a pretty apt first movie to start the marathon with.

2. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)

Now that you’re all warmed up, hit up the film that critics have unanimously agreed is the one film Leo truly deserved (and was denied) an Oscar for. His supporting role as Gilbert Grape’s (Johnny Depp) developmentally challenged younger brother was the film industry’s first look into Leo’s solid acting chops. 22 years on and he’s finally got the Oscar, but relish in this stellar Depp-DiCaprio pairing because it’s probably the last you’ll ever see.

3. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Leo seems to have a thing for piloting (think his more sombre The Aviator); Catch Me If You Can straddles comedy and drama as a biographical crime drama film based on the true story of conman Frank Abagnale – who swindled millions of dollars all before his 19th birthday.

4. Blood Diamond (2006)

Things get really heavy with this political war thriller, which we’ve picked over The Departed and Django Unchained as the representative “serious” movie in this marathon. It’s got just the right mix of touchy race politics, adventure, and raw emotion, to keep you alert and on the edge of your seat – something you’ll be needing seeing as you’re four movies in.

5. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Personally, this film felt a tad too crass for our liking – but that’s what makes it the perfect counter-follow-up to Blood Diamond. Biases aside, this Martin Scorsese collaboration – Leo’s fifth and latest – has become quite the iconic DiCaprio flick, and showcases his incredible range as well. You’ll be rooting for this underdog-turned-billionaire every second of the way, even when he’s making ill-informed choices and dancing with the devil. And can you really picture anyone else as The Wolf?

6. Titanic (1997)

You thought we’d missed this out, didn’t you! No explanations needed here; just grab your tissues and fangirl nostalgia.

7. Inception (2010)

We’ll admit it – this is more a Christopher Nolan inclusion than it is one for Leo. That said, Leo as the perceptive “dream stealer” Cobb is what really makes the film. Fun fact: Christopher Nolan had been trying to work with Leo for years, but was only able to convince him to collab with Inception. Brad Pitt and Will Smith were runner-up considerations for Cobb, but let’s face it – Cobb was made for Leo.

8. The Great Gatsby (2013)

It’s a Baz Luhrmann reunion with this literature classic (again), and if you thought 39-year-old Leo couldn’t possibly exude the same charm and charisma as his teen dreamboat self; you thought wrong. Somehow he just blends seamlessly into the 1920s landscape, and Leo’s Jay Gatsby couldn’t be any more suave. Plus, you have this movie to thank for spawning half the Leo-Oscar memes onlines.

9. The Revenant (2016)

Duh!!! Catch this in theatres while you still can; The Revenant should be wrapping up its rounds here on the island, but then again, now that it’s helped make Academy Award history, it might stick around for just a bit longer. And are you really going to pass up the movie that finally, finally got our Man of the Moment an Oscar?

Three cheers for Leo! And the CGI bear who got left out of his acceptance speech.

Velvet Matte: Why It's The Skin Texture You Should Be Obsessed With

Matte hasn’t had a moment for quite a while. A dewy-without-being-sweaty complexion is what has been capturing our imaginations, leaving our matte-finish powders and foundations to languish in a dusty corner of our makeup drawers.
Why has this happened? We understand that skin with a nice sheen over it has its allure: it can make you look like you’re glowing from the inside. On the flip side, we also get how matte could go wrong: Use a subpar formula, and it could look caked and flaky on your skin.

But now, we’re ready to take on matte again. Or more specifically, NARS’ version of matte, enticingly named the Velvet Matte Skin Tint. The premise here is it’s a light tint that transforms the skin instantly, with a flawless yet absolutely natural-looking finish using an oil-free formula. The “Velvet” part of its name comes from the soft-focus effect this matte has, and how incredibly soft it feels as it blends into the skin. Basically, no risk of cakey, flakey bits – and those of drier skin definitely do not have to shy away.
The magic here? NARS’ Velvet Illusion Complex technology, which is thankfully no illusion – it uses Transparent Blurring Powders that hide imperfections from view, and visibly even out the skin tone. These powder particles are clear on the outside and opaque in the centre, which allows light to be refracted and diffused within them. You don’t need a knowledge of physics to get this: this makes your skin glow in the most beautifully natural way possible.
Its other ingredients are all you need to keep you going throughout the day – rose fruit extract to minimise the appearance of pores and keep shine in check, and vitamins C, E and broad spectrum SPF 30 protection to shield against external aggressors. François Nars himself describes it this way: “It combines the weightlessness of an all-in-one skin tint with the perfecting shine control of a matte formula. It breathes dimension and life into the skin.” Velvet Matte is definitely one of the best things that has happened to our skin so far this year.

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint, $70. Available at NARS counters, selected Sephora stores, and tangs.com (http://bit.ly/1oRwpKc).

You'll Never Guess How Many Swarovski Crystals Madonna Wore Onstage Last Night

Rebel Heart came and went, and unfortunately, if you missed it you missed an impressive amount of bling. But if you did manage to catch Madonna live last night, you might be surprised to know that the Queen of Pop donned more than 2.5 million Swarovski crystals in 50 colours and 60 cuts onstage throughout the night. Then again, maybe you aren’t – it’s Madonna after all.

Madonna "Rebel Heart" Tour Opener - Montreal  Madonna "Rebel Heart" Tour Opener - Montreal

While she shimmied (and shimmered) in front of 25, 000 fans at the National Stadium last night, the Rebel Heart tour marks almost a decade of dazzling costume collaborations between Swarovski and Madonna. In that time, over 5.3 million Swarovski crystals have been painstakingly added to Madonna’s performances and world tours – that’s clothing, shoes, hats, masks, guitar straps, and of course, gloves.  That’s a lot of crystals to be hand-gluing (worth 1,200 hours of labour, to be exact), but let’s be honest; no such thing as too sparkly for a classic star like Madonna.

Happy Leap Year: What's Been Happening (Almost) Every Feb 29

Happy February 29th everyone! As a tribute to the wonderful phenomenon that is the Leap Year, we’ve put together a happy timeline of some of the most notable things that happened every four years this day, a few hundred years ago.

1504: Also known as the first recorded event of interest happening today – Explorer of the New World Christopher Columbus uses a lunar eclipse to frighten Native Americans into providing him with supplies.
1692: The first arrests on women were made in the Salem witch trials, seeing the persecution of Sarah Good, a homeless woman; Sarah Osbourne, a widow; and Tituba, a West Indian slave – who actually confessed to witchcraft.
1712: Sweden introduces February 30 (whaa?), in an attempt to abolish the Swedish calendar and return to the Old Style calendar. Guess that didn’t work out so well; the Swedes finally conceded and converted to the Gregorian calendar, used today, in 1753.
1908: Dutch scientists produce solid helium. Funky.
1940: It’s a big year at the 12th Academy Awards – Gone With The Wind sweeps a whopping eight Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress by Hattie McDaniel, making her the first ever African American to win an Oscar.

1960: Hugh Hefner opens the first Playboy Club in Chicago, Illinois, complete with his iconic Bunny waitresses.
1972: Hank Aaron becomes the first baseball player to sign for $200,000 a year. That comes up to roughly US$2,527,900 today, ladies and gents.
2008: The United Kingdom’s military withdraws Prince Harry from Operation Herrick, the British War in Afghanistan, immediately – after news of his undisclosed deployment leaked out in foreign media.
2016: And of course, this year’s Feb 29 marks an incredible milestone for humanity as well. Hollywood darling Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins an Oscar!

LINE Has Released The Perfect Camera App For Food Photos

Before you can even indulge in the food you’ve waited 20 minutes for, your friend tells you to wait some more, because she wants to take a photo and upload it online to tell the entire world that she’s having something amazing for dinner. Social media has enabled people to be this way, and it can get very annoying. But you know what they say – if you can’t beat em’, join em’.

Leo Aside, This Oscars Video Kinda Made Things Really Awkward

Everyone loves a good host – especially one who’s able to throw tasteful hits on a globally broadcasted live television show. So in steps good ol’ Chris Rock to host the 2016 Academy Awards, with his SNL humour, cheeky #OscarsSoWhite retorts – and the ultimate hit. Topping off a down-to-earth opening monologue about the injustices suffered by both Black nominees and Black actors in Hollywood alike, Rock introduced a video montage showing Black actors playfully inserted into Oscar-nominated movies. A few seconds in and you can already feel the sheepish cringes from the audience watching Whoopi Goldberg live up to her name and whooping JLaw’s ass. There’s also Leslie Jones in The Revenant, and Rock himself in The Martian – as the stranded Black astronaut not worth White money to save. Awkward, yes, but necessary. And come on, don’t kid yourself that you didn’t see something of the sort coming.

Also, a hearty congratulations to Leo! Sixth time’s the charm, bruv!

Caitlyn Jenner's First Beauty Collaboration Is Here

Sometimes, rumours can go from the realm of mere gossip to becoming actual truth. That’s the funny way in which M.A.C’s latest celebrity collaboration worked: first, the Internet was abuzz with Caitlyn Jenner coming up with her first beauty products, just the latest in the constant speculation in the lives of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Jenner got wind of this, M.A.C made the first move to get this project going, and now, the first-ever Caitlyn Jenner-branded lipstick will be coming our way.

finally free

Jenner has named the cremesheen rosy nude shade “Finally Free”, a reference to her own gender transition – we can hardly believe it’s only been nine months since that Vanity Fair cover. In an interview with M.A.C, Jenner explains of the shade: “I wanted a lipstick that would be universal, suited to more people, and was an everyday lipstick, not just a high-glam, once-in-a-while kind of lipstick. I like a little colour on my lips, not a lot during the day. And this rosy nude is the colour I’ve gone to. To be honest, I want people to use it every day so they have to buy more. I want to raise a lot of money. It’s very simple.”
The fundraising in question is for the M.A.C AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative – all proceeds from the sale of this lipstick will go towards this initiative, created in support of transgender communities.
“And honestly, my ultimate fantasy — I never thought in a million years that it would ever happen — was to get involved with a makeup company,” Jenner says. “When you’re going through all of this, that’s just like never going to happen, but wouldn’t it be something to be involved in a project like that? Boy, watch out what you wish for, because it came true.”
This is undoubtedly a big step for Jenner, even considering how much she has done already to champion transgender rights in the short past nine months. We know the world is already waiting with a bated breath for a full-fledged Caitlyn Jenner makeup collection – no words on that yet (though we can expect rumours to abound), but we’re hoping for another case of rumour-turned-fact for sure.

M.A.C Caitlyn Jenner Lipstick in Finally Free, US$17. Available exclusively on maccosmetics.com from April 2016.

Irregular Choice x Alice In Wonderland

They’re at it again. First, they brought us a jaw-dropping collection of Star Wars-inspired shoes just four months ago, ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, Irregular Choice, a footwear brand created by Dan Sullivan in 1999, find themselves falling through an extraordinary rabbit hole and into an wonderful and captivating world of odd characters and fantastic landscapes. The Alice in Wonderland collection is the brand’s second Disney line, featuring returning characters in the film, along with various references like the “EAT ME” brownie and “DRINK ME” potion, amongst many others. Perfect; just in time for us to pick a pair to wear to catch the new Walt Disney Studios film, “Alice Through The Looking Glass,” which is slated for release in August this year. We’re sure you’ll be a little “curiouser” when you take a look at what’s to come, but don’t be too taken aback by their loud and adventurous designs, because we’re all mad here. Now get on with it, you wouldn’t want to lose your muchness now, do you?

7 Items So Ridiculous You Just Have To Buy Them

We know what you’re thinking – sounds like another tacky Buzzfeed article. And you’re right; we even made it a random prime number so it would kind of stick annoyingly in your head. But in all seriousness, cast aside your snark and dig out your credit card, because we officially found the most ridiculous must-have items on the Internet. And we’re buying ‘em.

1. This nutritious cushion

Chinese_Cabbage_500x500_large
Chinese Cabbage Plush Pillow, $24.70

Not just any regular cabbage, mind you. We took the liberty of googling for you – Chinese cabbage, also known as “Napa cabbage”, contains fewer calories per 100g of regular cabbage, plus a higher percentage of Vitamin A. Be sure to mull that over as you prop it under your chin for a midday nap at your desk.

2. And this less nutritious one
akk_cushion_1024x1024
Ang Ku Kueh Cushion, $29.90

If you thought the Chinese cabbage was weird, get a load of this! Your inner Singapore should be squealing as loudly as ours is right now – this auspicious ang ku kueh cushion will see you through hard times for sure. And even if it doesn’t, are you really going to give up a pillow shaped in Singapore’s most famous kueh.

3. This sticky stopper

SS-15_JIU_CENG_GAO_DOORSTOP_1024x1024
Lapis Sagu Doorstop, $10

And while we’re on the topic of kuehs, might as well kit out your entire home in local kuehs. Here’s a Malay favourite, also called Jiu Ceng Gao (nine-layer cake) that someone innovatively realised would make an excellent doorstop.

4. The chance to finally be your primary school hero

Little Ming T-shirt, $34.90

If you’ve never landed trusty ol’ 小明 into a whole lot of sh*t before, you were probably a hardworking primary school student with more imagination than most of us. Otherwise, you’ll recognise this legend of a boy for having shoplifted at malls, skipping school, and even causing the occasional house to burn down. And now with this unisex shirt you can actually be badass Little Ming, regardless of whether you’re male or female! Although to be fair, he did help many an old granny cross the road too. What a lad!
BONUS: Couple tee with 小丽 for the ultimate statement.

5. This close encounter in the toilet

Mr P. The Wiper Tissue Box, $29.90

Don’t be ridiculous; this is clearly the only way to ever store your toilet paper. Now that we’ve found it you can bet our lavatory lives will change forever. Granted it might be a little creepy when you get up at 3am to answer Nature’s Call, but at least you’ll never feel alone again, no.1 or no.2.

6. This… furry friend

Rocket Raccoon Backpack Buddy, US$29.99

Not just for Guardians of the Galaxy fans, believe it or not this little guy is actually big enough to hold your iPad 2. He’s clearly out of this world. Just remember not to watch Shutter after you’ve bought this.

And obviously, we saved the best for last.

Sennheiser Embraces Vibrant Colours In A New Collaboration With Freitag

Collaborations between two brands aren’t rare anymore – most of the time they come together because they have a lot in common, be it in terms of design ethos, company principles or others. But that can get a little predictable, and not to mention bland, at times.
These two brands however, might seem like they’re worlds apart, but what their partnership has given birth to is a collection of really pretty, quality headphones. Now, we all know how resilient Freitag bags are against wind and rain, seeing how they’re made of old truck tarpaulins that have been retired, cut, washed and lovingly repurposed as material for various bag designs. This Swiss brand has collaborated with German audio company, Sennheiser; a brand that’s at the forefront of shaping the current and future world of audio.
Sennheiser lends its on-ear URBANITE headphones for this collaboration; a model that’s known for its great sound, deep boosted bass and all-round urban style. The super-soft ear pads block out ambient noise so you can fully enjoy your music comfortably, no matter how long you have it on. Freitag then enhances the style of these headphones with an individual, unique piece of recycled truck tarp. And just like the standard URBANITE model, this F703 Sennheiser x Freitag headphones come with stainless steel hinges, aluminium sliders and a removable connecting cable, making it super convenient to store em’ in the case it comes with (also made from the same tarp used for the headband) when you’re not using it.

F703 Sennheiser x Freitag, $326. Available at Actually (orchardgateway #03-18).
