There Are Now More NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams To Love

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, with each shade named after a dream holiday destination, is firmly on our list of holy grail lip products. For just $13, you get a wonderfully pigmented matte liquid lipstick that goes on smoothly with the doe foot applicator, and smells like a vanilla dream. The shade that seems to be constantly sold out is Stockholm, a mid-toned beige pink that pretty much makes for the perfect neutral lip.

stockholm

Now that NYX has relaunched at Sephora Singapore, you might stand a better chance of stocking up on Stockholm in the short term – but act fast, because we expect them to be in short supply once again pretty soon. But while you’re at it, do check out the 8 new Soft Matte Lip Cream shades that have been added to the fold this year. Another benefit of this brand relaunch: we now get to enjoy new launches the same time as the US.

Flawless Foundation In A Cushion

It’s not easy being a 21st Century go-getter when compromising your complexion is on the line. After all, climbing corporate ladders should come with the ease of not having to worry about popping out to the powder room, makeup bag in tow, every hour or so. It only makes sense, then, that shu uemura has released a new and improved powder cushion to put an end to all your power-working complexion concerns.

SU_blancchroma_puff_EX-1

The new blanc:chroma brightening UV cushion foundation and SMART cushion are a godsend, really. We’re immediately zoning in on the make – a foundation in the cutest powder cushion form ever – the perfect convenient size to carry out anywhere. Don’t be fooled by how harmless it looks – this chili padi of foundations has been jellified to achieve the easy portability of a compact powder, but packs a powerful punch when picked up, turning into spreadable fluid that goes on evenly. The improved SMART cushion system even includes an auto-wiper membrane and dispenser – fancy tools for better pick-up of the product, hold and volume control, and even application – so you don’t waste a drop of the precious formula.

And the foundation formula is all kinds of magic, containing nylon powder particles just the right size to conceal pores; amino acid-coated pigments that cover uneven skin tone; and brightening actives that strategically target dark spots. Everything culminates in a translucent, radiant complexion that gives you flawless coverage, without being too heavy in the heat. Look alive ladies; we’re hoping this means that hot and bothered midday touch-ups will soon become a thing of the past.

WATCH: Trippy New Video For Flume’s “Never Be Like You”

We don’t know about you but we’re still suffering from post-Laneway blues, especially with Flume bringing the festival to a close with such beautiful visuals and an even more amazing repertoire. The ground was filled from the front, all the way to the back and sides where all the activity tents were; definitely more than the other years despite it being the last set. The Australian electronic music producer released a new single, “Never Be Like You”, on 15 January (two weeks ahead of the festival). It’s the first track from the upcoming release of his next album, “Skin”, and features Canadian singer, Kai, who has written for the likes of Jessie J, Rihanna and Janelle Monae and worked with Diplo, Skrillex and Childish Gambino. Kai’s mesmerising vocals sit perfectly on Flume’s signature bass work and stuttering synths, which we all can’t seem to get enough of. He’s finally released the official music video, directed by Clemens Habicht and stars Sophie Lowe from ABC1’s The Slap and Sam Reid from the British drama thriller, The Riot Club. The video follows a young woman who’s in a sort of warped emotional state; a dramatic and emotional video that shows a kind of remorse and regret of what she did the night before.

Editing Beauty: The Beauty Book All Girls Should Own

Why should you be reading a beauty book when there are tons of beauty magazines and online articles and YouTube videos out there? Well, for one, it’s a one-stop guide to all the makeup, skincare, and beauty tools dos-and-don’ts you need, and sits nicely on your bookshelf or coffee table. And we mean real prettily. You won’t have to scroll through pages of content, it’s as easy as flipping to the page you want.
And two, it’s a matter of perspective. In this case, Editing Beauty is written by our editor-in-chief, Adele Chan, who, as both magazine editor and former PR manager of Estee Lauder, has a wealth of knowledge and experience to impart. I mean, just look at the countless beauty products that come through our office everyday – she has seen them all.
So, if you’re, specifically, a Singapore girl/woman, it’s good news. All the info’s tailored to you. That means, an Asian slant, with the knowledge that we’re always looking for the best hyped-about yet fuss-free ways of improving our look, while on the go. This should really be your beauty bible – think, topics like how to properly choose a liquid foundation for our tropical climate, the cult red lipstick shades you might already know about, or how to pop a pimple, all properly researched and recommended by Adele, and compiled with help from the NYLON team, including our designers and writers.
There are also insider tips from beauty industry experts, including step-by-step tutorials by celebrity makeup artists Clarence Lee and Dollei Seah. Clarence Lee gives us four gorgeous lip looks, Dollei Seah shows us how to put together a makeup artist-worthy lipstick palette, while Dr Georgia Lee clues us in on all we need to know about those nasty pimples and pigmentation.
And if you’re curious as to why model Fiona Fussi’s on the cover, well, there’s a nice section that features our local It-girls (many NYLON Singapore cover stars), where you’ll get to know what really goes into the beauty regime of personalities such as Rozz, Liv Lo, Tabitha Nauser and Fiona Fussi.
You won’t even have to wait – it’s out now, at all Kinokuniya bookstores!

Here Are All The Disney Films Releasing This Year

The Disney Empire is in a good place, especially after making high-profile acquisitions over the years. Sure, Disney’s acquisition of Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion brought along plenty of skeptics, but look at them now. Last year, it was the first time that each of their acquired companies released a film in the same year, marking their essential roles in the empire. What was even crazier was when Disney shocked the world with the $4 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm, the same people who brought us Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Fast forward to 2016, we’ve seen what a splendid job they’ve done with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and we just cannot wait to see what else they have up their sleeves. Check out some of the films lined up for this year.

Does This Miracle Essence Really Make Your Skin Glow?

Now, after hearing the beauty secrets of gorgeous actresses, including Mediacorp darling Rebecca Lim and Cate Blanchett, we feel like it’s high time we tried the miracle for ourselves — for the first time, might I add. If you’ve only heard rave reviews of SK-II and their line of Pitera products, including that Facial Treatment Essence, but never tried it, take it from this 20-something first-timer.
And what better way to put it to the test than during the most busy time of the year? The Lunar New Year festivities call for lots of roaming about while visiting houses and relatives, with selfies and #ootds as evidence, as well as stuffing our faces with yummy but not-so-healthy goodies, so really, I’ll be surprised if anything can save my skin from this mess. Thankfully, there’s a way to keep you looking your best at any time of the day — this SK-II regime’s a sure life-saver.

THE DAY BEFORE
HR57
10pm
As you know, CNY preparation, or any major prep (hint: Valentine’s Day) ideally starts the day, and weeks, before. This is where the famed SK-II Facial Treatment Essence comes in. You may have heard that it contains 90% Pitera, a miracle ingredient that allow the skin’s natural renewal cycle to work at its best. In other words, the promise is this: you get youthful, crystal-clear skin.
With all this in mind, I jumped on the chance to try it out for myself. The verdict? It really goes on surprisingly light, doesn’t feel cloying or oily, and the best part is waking up the next morning to firm, fresh skin. Not bad at all! I can see why it’s so hyped about — and this is just the start. It only gets better though; try it for a couple more days, and you do notice the difference of visibly radiant skin.

DURING THE DAY
Cate BTS4
10am
Take it from Cate Blanchett – the gorgeous actress has been putting her Facial Treatment Essence in a spray bottle to use while filming, well before this on-the-go option. The SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence is perfect when you have to be out the entire day, as I had to be. I did a quick spritz in the morning, before stowing it in my bag for the rest of the day. What feels especially good is the fine mist — it’s refreshing and airy, so I don’t feel like I’m assaulted by droplets, and it sinks into my skin after seconds. I was pretty skeptical about sprays, after knowing how dehydrating facial water mists truly are, but was relieved to know that this comes packing in nutrients instead.

Cate Clutch with spray3
3pm
After a round of feasting, I noticed my skin getting oily around the T-zone, yet rather dull-looking and slightly patchy even after my best makeup attempts, which calls for a quick refresher. A light touch of loose powder and a few quick spritzes did the trick to restore a dewy complexion. Yes, it goes on after makeup!

SK215-3009
7pm
My first thought was, what’s the difference between this SK-II Mid-Night Miracle Essence and the Mid-Day version? Well, they do contain the same ingredients and benefits, just that the night one deals with how stressed our skin gets. Now, after all the hours in the sun, sweat due to the humidity and movement from house to house, and probably the dust particles from travelling about, this is a must-have. When used, it does go on a bit heavier then the Mid-Day Essence, though with the same airy mist, but the cooling sensation makes up for that. I was definitely ready for dinner parties after this. Really, don’t even skimp on this perk-me-up at all.

AT NIGHT
banner
11pm
After a whole day of activity, it’s finally time to get some beauty sleep, though I feel like I need some extra help in the “beauty” department. Firstly, if I feel tired, my skin probably does as well, and fatigue shows very easily over time through dull, tired-looking skin. And secondly, my makeup has been on the entire day, surely, my skin needs some room to breathe. That’s why I welcomed the Facial Treatment Mask, which is kind of like an indulgent version of the Facial Treatment Essence. I left it on for about 15 minutes, and later, found my skin immediately firmer after being doused in healthy nutrients. All it takes is one sleep to tackle the next day with the effects of a facial spa, meaning, radiant skin that feels fresh and bouncy. I’ll certainly be considering this the next time I have an important day out.

NYLON Predicts: The Oscars 2016

The #OscarsSoWhite controversy makes us as uncomfortable as the next person, but like the rest of the world, we’re nonetheless intrigued to find out who wins this February 28. All racial biases put aside, the NYLON Singapore team sat down and dished on who we think will be bringing home an Oscar.

BEST PICTURE

Nominees:
The Big Short
Bridge of Spies
Brooklyn
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Martian
The Revenant
Room
Spotlight

Predicted Winner: Spotlight
Unfortunately, this time a star-studded cast (in contender The Big Short) just doesn’t cut it – we’re turning away from the Wolf Of Wall Street vibes and going with our gut with the indie hot favourite.

BEST ACTOR

Nominees:
Bryan Cranston, Trumbo
Matt Damon, The Martian
Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant
Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs
Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl
Adam: Eddie Redmayne. He’s my new favourite after his wonderful performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. He’s a versatile, rising actor and deserves the award even though Leo’s in the category. Haha oh well, maybe it’s another big no to Leo.
Tami: I disagree! I don’t think Eddie Redmayne will win again, even if he was great in The Danish Girl. Maybe Leo FINALLY has his chance. Lol.

Predicted Winner: Leonardo DiCaprio
Final verdict? Frankly, while The Danish Girl might have more mass appeal, it kind of feels like… settling. Obviously the results are unpredictable, but the emotional rawness of The Revenant definitely has Leo primed for an Oscar this time round. Plus, he ate raw bison liver on set.
“Yeah, Matt Damon doesn’t stand a chance.”

BEST ACTRESS

Nominees:
Cate Blanchett, Carol
Brie Larson, Room
Jennifer Lawrence, Joy
Charlotte Rampling, 45 Years
Saoirse Ronan, Brooklyn

Predicted Winner: Brie Larson
She played her part of Joy in Room to much critical acclaim – and ours too! Now that she’s just won a Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice and SAG award, here’s hoping she has space in her display cabinet for another one. Plus, it’d be so boring if J Law won again for an almost identical movie (to Silver Linings Playbook).

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

Nominees:
Christian Bale, The Big Short
Tom Hardy, The Revenant
Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight
Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies
Sylvester Stallone, Creed

Predicted Winner: Tom Hardy
No fight in the Nylon office here.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Nominees:
Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight
Rooney Mara, Carol
Rachel McAdams, Spotlight
Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl
Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs

Predicted Winner: Alicia Vikander/Kate Winslet
We’re torn over these two who are very much leading ladies in their own right. That said, we’re leaning a little towards Kate Winslet, seeing as how she’s already bagged Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes.
“She probably deserves it, though I don’t really like her. I hold a grudge against her because she let Jack die.”

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY

Nominees:
Carol
The Hateful Eight
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Revenant
Sicario

Predicted Winner: The Revenant
Apologies to Tarantino fans, but The Revenant wins hands down for its breathtaking camerawork and colour tones. The teaser trailer alone is quite the work of art.

This Green Lip Tint Is Actually The Perfect Shade

For Spring, ETUDE HOUSE’s anchor collection is the cutely-named Berry Delicious range. As the name suggests, yes, everything is berry-themed, from the colours ranging from strawberry pink to cherry purple, the sweet scent of the products, and the packaging design (those strawberry details are way too adorable).
But among all the pinks, reds and purples that dominate this collection, one particular product stands out. The Berry Delicious Color In Liquid Lips Juicy liquid lip colours has 10 shades, covering the whole spectrum from light pink to dark wine – and in the middle of it all, a curiously pastel green tube that sticks out like a sore thumb.
What’s a green lip colour doing in a berry-themed collection, then? And why would a green lip tint even exist among ETUDE HOUSE products, known for being made to achieve all sorts of aegyo?
Turns out, ETUDE HOUSE hasn’t adopted a drastic change in direction, but this little green wonder actually turns from an almost-radioactive shade in the tube, to a light purple tint on the lips that’s just right.

(Image: etude.co.kr)

Yes, the Berry Delicious Color In Liquid Lips Juicy in #31 is one of those shapeshifting lip colours, appearing completely different on the skin from what it looks like in the tube. The resulting cool-toned pink is incredibly flattering – one layer gets you a light wash of colour, like you’ve just been sucking on a lollipop; two layers or more create a chic bolder fuchsia. The texture is just a bit glossy, i.e. subtly shiny the way most Korean lip tints are. Who would expect that one of our favourite lip colours of the year so far would come in a green tube?

ETUDE HOUSE Berry Delicious Color In Liquid Lips Juicy, $17.90. Available in ETUDE HOUSE stores from 4 March. etude.sg

Bookmark This: The Nylon Team's Favourite Online Stores

All we can say is… the thrill of online shopping gets to the best of us. If you’re in the mood for some browsing and have exhausted all your usual virtual haunts, here are some of the Nylon Team’s favourite online stores and star purchases.

muji.com.sg

Muji is a great place to get fashion staples like cardigans, socks and tank tops, and all the lifestyle items you never knew you needed. Some of the household items like bowls and plates can be quite heavy and bulky to carry home from the store, so getting them shipped to your doorstep is super convenient. I’m hoping Muji Singapore will add their F&B selection to their online store.
Favourite buy ever? The organic denim skinny jeans. Flattering and comfortable, and affordable! Even better now that they are currently on sale.  – Adele Chan, Editor-in-Chief

Society6.com

Yes, I understand the pain of having to wait a month or more to receive whatever you bought on a whim, but I really wouldn’t mind if it’s for Society 6. Basically, it’s a place where artists post their artwork, and the company prints them on various items, then ships them on demand (don’t worry, the artists earn per sale too). Bookmark it if you want to find unique everyday items – and they do have everything. If you’re a person of many fandoms (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc), you’ll find many great art prints here, or, you can opt for graphic and abstract ones as well.
My first (and best) purchase was a Moonrise Kingdom printed tote, which also comes as a shirt! An iPad case! A pillow! A throw! You see what I mean… That said, it arrived in good condition, and the canvas tote was roomy enough for all my stuff. Plus, and usually at the end of the month, there’s free international shipping! The only drawback? It takes tremendous patience to scroll through the sheer amount of products – but that’s just me nitpicking about the variety. Dedicate a few hours for this if you’re serious, but I can’t promise you won’t be hooked. – Amelia Tan, Senior Writer

ssense.com

I like ssense.com particularly for their selection and style – I feel it’s more suited to my aesthetic. It’s predominantly luxury brands (Givenchy, Aleander Wang, Saint Laurent etc.) but they have a very rugged and badass selection of leather items, boots, and accessories too. My fav purchase is the “Pearls Before Swine” Silver Thorn Hinged Bangle (for women) because the women’s bracelet looks so much better that the men’s version. – Josiah Chua, Stylist

Nastygal

If I could pick just one store to shop at for the rest of my life, hell yeah this would be it. Nastygal’s known for their pretty daring pieces – forget peekaboo cut-outs, I’m surprised if I can find anything that isn’t one big cut-out – but the styles are so fresh and edgy that I can’t help falling in love with the entire site. Speaking of that, the gorgeous site layout is another big plus point for me – I love it when a store puts effort into shooting their products on models.

But the main reason why I’m so obsessed is because they stock my favourite shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell! Nastygal has a sick selection of shoes, but I’m always drawn back to JC’s quirky touches, and my fav shoe is still my Denim Lita Platform Boot. The Lita Boot has gone a little out of style since I first got them, but they remain my favourite purchase because 1) with the platform they’re super comfy despite the 5-inch heel, and 2) hello, they’re stunning. And when I get depressed about having no money I just look at the styling lookbooks. Seriously though, they’re so beautifully shot and curated it’s like looking at art. – Amanda Chai, Editorial Assistant

Taobao

I shop at all the major online stores that everyone else frequents: ASOS (quickest way to feed my Monki addiction), Sephora.sg (previously known as Luxola.com) and Zalora. But, none of these give me as big a thrill as navigating the endless depths of Taobao. Yes, I’ll be the first to admit it’s not at all high fashion nor is it always the coolest, but it’s the only site where I can get my favourite Feiyue sneakers. Using it takes a good amount of Google Translate if you’re not the most adept at Chinese like me, but there are plenty of reliable local agents that can make the process a lot easier. Basically, it’s easy to get hooked. I couldn’t pick, so here are my latest Taobao buys which I’ve been obsessed over:

Feiyue sneakers
The story behind these sneakers that I like to tell everyone is, they’re actually the standard footwear of the Shaolin monks, until they were spotted on Orlando Bloom and boom: Instant hipster shoes. I love the classic colours, which go with any outfit, and also how soft and comfortable they are. Best part: A pair goes for under $10. For real.

Gudetama iPhone case
So I’m slightly crazy over Gudetama, Sanrio’s strange lazy egg character. I was looking for a Gudetama iPhone case for quite some time but just couldn’t find one I really liked. Of course, Taobao had the answer: I love this one for the unique design and surprisingly high-quality printing. If you like Gudetama, get on Taobao, trust me. – Tami Lai, Senior Writer

ALLknitwear

ALLknitwear is one of my favourite brands, because the designs are colourful, funny and irreverent. The online store is a colour-blocked grid of eyecandy, with sweaters ranging from vertical stripes in fluorescent contrast tones to patchwork checkers, yin-yang, soccer ball, and jack-o-lantern motifs. They are thoughtfully designed and hand-knit by one-woman sweater factory Annie Larson, justifying the rather steep price tag. Luckily, I was able to get a discount after interning with her, so I picked up the “Bye-Bye Box Top”. With it’s fluorescent waving hands graphic and striped sleeves, it’s ~hands down~ my all-time favorite sweater and wardrobe staple that always immediately cheers me up.
But… If I could pick an all-time favourite online retail store, it would be Amazon Prime in the used book section. Check out how cheap it is! – Joanne Cheah, Designer

Films To Catch At Golden Village This Month

Netflix and chill aside, it’s always a very different experience when you watch a movie at the cinema, as compared to watching a movie at home. Sure, you’ll have the freedom to pause as and when you like, be in the most comfortable clothes you’ll never be seen in outside and without makeup. You’ll probably wrap yourself up like a burrito and be in a position that’s very sleep-inducing. But when you’re at a cinema, you get to watch a film that you may or may not like on a big-ass screen and an amazing sound system that you probably don’t have at home, unless of course you can afford to fork out five-digits worth of cash; but even at that, it can’t beat the cinemas. And especially so if you’re talking about Golden Village, who’s recently upgraded their sound system to the new Auro 11.1 by Barco.
This system brings a new cinema experience as it employs a speaker layout based on three axes – width, depth and height – on three vertical layers to surround cinema-goers with true-to-life 3D sound. Instead of hearing sounds “all around you”, you’ll also hear sounds coming from a height as speakers are added above the current set and on the ceiling. You can geek out in this video, which explains it all, or head to Golden Village Suntec City to experience it for yourself. However, the system is still pretty new in Singapore (only available in Hall 2) so it’s limited to certain films at the moment (make sure you check before purchasing tickets).
But that shouldn’t stop you from heading to the theatres to catch a movie on its opening day (seriously though, when was the last time you did that?). Besides, you’ll have bragging rights from being one of the first to watch it, if that’s any consolation to you. And do you really want to wait so long until it’s available online?
DEADPOOL
Release Date: 11 February 2016
Director: Tim Miller
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller
Rating: M18
With so much hype surrounding this film, we’re a bit skeptical of how it’ll turn out (we’ve watched our fair share of disappointing films). Deadpool’s not your average hero that everyone (including your grandma) might like, but that’s what makes him the edgy anti-hero badass he is. All the trailers look promising, seeing how this depiction of Deadpool is much more similar to the comic book version as compared to the one in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, charm and wit included.

HOW TO BE SINGLE
Release Date: 18 February 2016
Director: Christian Ditter
Stars: Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Leslie Mann
Rating: NC16
We’re really excited to see what Rebel Wilson has to bring to the table while 50 Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson takes the lead role as a single young woman named Meg who works at a law firm in New York. It already sounds like those typical rom-coms where a girl goes through a heartbreak, yada yada… except that Robin (played by Rebel), a wild child receptionist at the same firm, decides to take Meg out and “teach” her the ways of being single – everything from hooking up with a guy at a bar, getting guys to buy drinks to having one-night stands. The girls-just-wanna-have-fun bunch try to mend their lonely hearts while learning how to be single in a city where love has just as many definitions as the people living in it.

THE FINEST HOURS
Release Date: 18 February 2016
Director: Craig Gillspie
Stars: Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster
Rating: To be advised
You’re essentially about to witness the remake of one of the bravest rescue missions in U.S. Coast Guard history. The film takes you back to February 1952 when a cyclonic storm hit New England and ravaged through towns on the Eastern seaboard and brought trouble to ships in its path, including the SS Pendleton, the T-2 oil tanker that was dramatically ripped into half. Very Titanic, sans the romance, grandeur, and iceberg. Once word of it gets to the U.S. Coast Guard, Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff (Eric Bana) orders a mission to rescue the stranded men.

ZOOTOPIA
Release Date: 25 February 2016
Director: Byron Howard, Rich Moore
Stars: Idris Elba, Shakira, Ginnifer Goodwin
Rating: To be advised (though we all know this is probably going to be PG-13)
Definitely a feel-good film because, which Disney film – animated or not – isn’t? In a metropolis where animals live harmoniously together, a rabbit named Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) moves into an apartment in Zootopia and finds a job at the Zootopia Police Department. Although she ends up with parking duty as a first stint, she goes on to try and solve a case of a missing otter and in the process, befriends a sly Fox named Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). Like most Disney films, it’s bound to be peppered with life lessons and situations that reflect reality. Even the trailer has quotable words of wisdom like “We may be evolved, but deep down, we are still animals,” and “No matter what type of animal you are, change starts with you”.

The Makeup Looks To Wear This Valentine's Day

Four makeup ideas for your Valentine’s Day date. But really, you don’t have to have a date for 14 February to have a reason to try out these pretty looks.

The look: Bronzed skin
Going a bit more heavy-handed on the bronzer and highlighter can have a romantic effect, especially when paired with an intentionally-messy updo – like you just got whisked off somewhere exciting by your knight in shining armour. Sweep a peach-toned bronzer liberally on the cheekbones, and blend a cream highlighter on all the places you want to catch the light, including the inner corners of the eyes and the cupid’s bow.

The look: Tangerine lips
We’ve recommended orange lips plenty of times, but up the ante a bit by pairing it with subtly shimmery eyes and a fierce cat flick (bonus points for blue nails). The key to preventing this from looking like too much for your date is to keep the orange to a stain, instead of a full-on matte or glossy lip.

The look: Glossy metallic lids
Sometimes, eyeshadow doesn’t have to be so precise. Just a few smears of a pretty metallic colour channels an easy-breezy aesthetic that’s polished at the same time. Pair this with a purple-tinged lip, and add a bit of clear gloss on top of the eyeshadow.

The look: Powdery blue lids
Don’t shy away from blue eyeshadow – they make colours a lot prettier than the frosted blue everyone wore in the 90s. You’ll definitely look chic instead of outdated if you choose a rich dark blue and dust it lightly on the crease, then pair with blue mascara for an added edge. Keep the rest of the face simple.

PUMA x ALIFE SS16 Is Your Everyday Shoe But Better

Next up in the SS16 Select PUMA collaborations is ALIFE – a Lower East Side streetwear brand that, honestly, could give Hype a run for their money. Aside from its funky and fresh aesthetic, the New York-based label has been incorporating sports influences in their pieces for years, so it only makes sense that this PUMA x ALIFE capsule drop is even happening.

R698 x ALIFE_Black Glacier 2_SGD190 R698 x ALIFE_Peach Blue 1_SGD190

Get psyched for some serious New York heritage influences – the classic PUMA R698 silhouette gets a sassy new makeover in two different models. For the everyday shoe, hit up the black on black suede kicks that aren’t just gorgeous, but are also the absolute definition of a sport-meets-streetwear collab. But if you’re really looking to stand out, the soft suede and Nubuck leather Peach Blue shoes are a must. We don’t usually like to play favourites, but biases must be acknowledged when there’s a clear winner in the room.

PUMA x ALIFE Black Glacier, $190; Peach Blue, $190, available from 13 February at Limited Edt and Leftfoot stores.

Singapore Is Hosting An Invite-Only Muay Thai ‘Fight Club’ This February, and It's Going to Be Awesome

You know the rules of Fight Club. You’re supposed to keep hush about it. Well, most of the time anyway. Technically we’re breaking those rules right now by writing this article, but what the heck. For an event like Chang Urban Pulse, there’s plenty to talk about.
Billed as an ‘urban art exchange’ and proudly presented by Chang Beer, the first ever Chang Urban Pulse is a one night only event that’s geared towards showcasing the best of Thailand’s vibrant street culture, and will feature fierce show-offs between Thai street artists and our local talents in the fields of beat-boxing, rapping, break-dancing, and yes, Muay Thai.

So, as you can see, it’s not exactly like Tyler Durden’s underground fighting ring, but it’s more of a celebration of arts and adventure in the spirit of honorable rivalry.
Of course, there will be more than enough action-packed excitement to go around. Fighters like Kanpetch Pornpichit and Daojarat Kor Kiet Prach will lock horns with the likes of Brandon Ng and Cheryl Gwa, though if martial art disciplines are not really your thing, acts like Radikal Forze, 99Flava, Dharni Ng, Blish, Masia One, and TeCh`1 will keep the adrenaline pumping all night long.

Unfortunately, no tickets will be sold for this event. Exclusiveness is a big part of this invite-only jamboree, so you’ve got to keep your eyes peeled for updates on Chang Beer’s Facebook page on how to win passes. Chang Urban Pulse is happening on February 24, from 9pm to late at Infinite Studios.

WIN! We’re giving away three pairs of tickets to Chang Urban Pulse. To participate, simply fill in the form below by 15 February 2017, 12pm.

WATCH: Father John Misty Stars In Lana Del Rey's New "Freak" Video

In true Lana Del Rey fashion, the 11-minute video for her third single from her fourth studio album, “Honeymoon”, features rose-tinted scenes that look like it was taken out of someone’s endless dreams of ethereal existence. The drug-fuelled video for “Freak” features fellow American singer/songwriter Father John Misty (also known as J. Tillman), who gets caressed by the swimming girls from her “Music To Watch Boys To” video while Lana just sits in front of them, happily sipping on her red-coloured beverage without a care in the world. It’s then followed by a white smoke scene that shows Father John Misty embracing Lana passionately; probably a symbol of their mutual admiration for each other (it turns out that she’s actually a fan of his music since 2013 and a few months later, Father John Misty posted a photo of Lana on his Facebook with no caption). He went on tour with her and supported her in some of her shows in the US back in 2014.
What comes after is both strange and mesmerising, as her song comes to an end and segues into footage of women gracefully swimming underwater, intermittently breaking the surface to take a breath of air before continuing their playful banter; all while Debussy’s “Claire De Lune” plays in the background.
To be honest, this hazy video doesn’t feel like 11 minutes, but have a go at it and see for yourself:

Gaming Just Got A Whole Lot Sexier

In a move that’s probably targeting the anti-gamers of the world, Logitech has released the G502 Proteus Spectrum Gaming Mouse – basically, a mouse that changes light colours. With RGB customisable lighting, the new and improved Logitech G502 opens a whole new door to gaming in style. And when they said customisable, they really weren’t kidding – you can adjust the mouse’s lighting and choose from up to 16.8 million colours. Bring it to life with the cyclic breathing light patterns; or just set it to sleep when you aren’t using your system.

G502 RGB_Image 7

And obviously, this new magpie feature doesn’t discount its optimal performance as a gaming mouse. Gamers will recognize the same impressive features of the Spectrum’s younger brother the G502 Proteus Core. The powerful optical sensor (PMW3366) means reliable targeting and tracking accuracy, boosted by a huge DPI range of 200 to 12,000 – so you’ll never lose sight of your target(s). There are 11 programmable buttons that let you set up one-button triggers and customise commands so you can adjust everything to your gaming style. And nothing beats having a personal touch – customise the overall weight and center of balance via the five 3.6g weights in the mouse, to create a mouse that feels just right for you.
A certain Lizzie McGuire once sang, “Yesterday my life was duller; now everything’s technicolour.” We believe that sums this up nicely.
