BLACKPINK’s Jennie x Gentle Monster — The New ‘Jentle Garden’ Eyewear Collection Drops Today

Gotta say, we’ve been waiting for this moment since we saw a picture of BLACKPINK star Jennie holding up the cutest flower basket on her Instagram post. That was 11 weeks ago. Now, we’re getting a full look at cult-favourite eyewear brand Gentle Monster’s seven-piece collection, done in collaboration with the k-pop star, aptly titled ‘Jentle Garden‘.

THE collection

In her second collaboration with the brand, the stunning campaign images depict a fantasy world, lensed by Paris-based photographer Hugo Comte, featuring Jennie frolicking in a surreal garden of blooms. In them, she’s wearing every single one of her designs, of course — three optical glasses, three sunglasses, and a particularly unique oval-shaped pair embellished with crystal details on its frame.

As for the overall vibe of the eyewear designs, think Spring/Summer-chic, with colour choices of white and pink alongside classic black, the use of white marble that we’re told is a first for the brand. It’s a fun touch that adds some lightness and distinctiveness to the hand-crafted frames.

For the three sunglasses, we’ve got mostly rectangular acetate frames done in different styles. XOXO features rounded details on the frame front, and most noticeably, the collection’s signature logo on the temples, which you’ll spot across all the styles; it’s available in white marble, black and yellow. La Peche, on the other hand, looks similar with its bold acetate style, though it bears a cat-eye silhouette in pink, black and white. As for Angel, think oversized sunnies in black, brown, and a feminine beige marble.

The optical glasses in the collection are not to be overlooked either. Cloudy Day Only is a metal round frame that’s subtly wider at the top to accentuate the face, with marble temple tips as a nice touch. 26 is in a classic aviator style that boasts major retro vibes, while Zen is a clear acetate take on eyewear, designed as a sleek Wellington-style and, once again, accentuated with the collection logo on the temples.

THE garden EXCLUSIVES

Good to know — the Jentle Garden launch is also accompanied with a whole bunch of exclusives. First off, custom-designed ‘Jentle Garden’ flowers will be gifted in limited quantities to customers who purchase the collection. How cute are those lilac bags and boxes as well!

Then, we’re getting Jentle Garden pop-ups too — and yes, Singapore’s on the list. Five cities around the world will play host to an actual Jentle Garden where the brand will recreate “a beautiful village scenery envisioned by Jennie and Gentle Monster”, complete with custom-designed ‘Jentle Garden’ masks for visitors.

At the pop-ups, you’ll also get to purchase exclusive FRUITS OF PARADISE ($3,253) packages — yes, the same ones worn and conceptualised by Jennie herself. These will be sold in limited quantities; each includes 7 eyewear and Jennie’s autograph adorned on the box.

The Jentle Garden Collection will be available at all official Gentle Monster channels, including Gentle Monster Singapore flagship store at ION Orchard on 10 March 2022.

Apple’s March Announcements — A Green iPhone 13, New iPad Air, Mac Studio & Studio Display, And The iPhone SE

This morning’s Apple announcement certainly gave us a lot to take in. And while it’s not nearly as highly-anticipated as the brand’s usual iPhone keynote during September every year, the Peek Performance event still gave us 4 new devices to look out for — namely, the new iPhone SE, new iPad Air, Mac Studio and Studio Display. Oh yes, and two new shades of Apple-green for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro as well. Read on for the full low-down.

Mac Studio and Studio Display

Apple’s new Mac Studio and Studio Display, are their latest versions of a Mac desktop and display respectively, which offers users even more powerful performance beyond their portable line of laptops.

MAC STUDIO

The Mac Studio is powered by M1 Max and the new M1 Ultra, the world’s most powerful chip for a personal computer, which delivers on next-level performance despite the compact, sleek design we’ve come to expect from the brand. This helps greatly in rendering massive 3D environments and playing back 18 streams of ProRes video, for instance, ideal for creatives who are admittedly Apple’s target audience here.

For its performance stats, when powered by either M1 Max or M1 Ultra, there’s a lot of performance upgrades to look forward to, especially when M1 Ultra is touted as the “next giant leap for Apple silicon”. The M1 Max enables up to 2.5x faster CPU performance than the fastest 27-inch iMac with 10-core processor, up to 3.4x faster graphics performance than the 27-inch iMac, and over 3x faster than Mac Pro with its most popular graphics card. As for the M1 Ultra, it enables up to 3.8x faster CPU performance than the fastest 27-inch iMac with 10-core processor, up to 4.5x faster graphics performance than the 27-inch iMac, and up to 80 percent faster than the fastest Mac graphics card available today.

The device is compact indeed; it’s built from a single aluminium extrusion with a square footprint of just 19.7 centimetres and a height of only 9.5 centimetres, which fits nicely under most displays for a minimalist workspace. A smart thermal design means it can handle great performance, with double-sided blowers, precisely placed airflow channels, and over 4,000 perforations on the back and bottom of the enclosure guide air to help cool the high-performance chips, while we’re promised it remains quiet even under intense workloads.

For connectivity, there are ports on both the back and front of the device. The back sees four Thunderbolt 4 ports to connect displays and high-performance devices, a 10Gb Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a pro audio jack for high-impedance headphones or external amplified speakers. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 are built in as well. On the front for more convenient access,  there are two USB-C ports, and an SD card slot to easily import photos and video.

STUDIO DISPLAY

On the other hand, the Studio Display is he perfect complement to the Mac, featuring a 27-inch 5K Retina display, a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Centre Stage, and a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with spatial audio.

It features a beautiful all-screen design with narrow borders, followed by an all-aluminium enclosure on its slim profile, complete with a built-in stand that’s tilt- and height-adjustable. For its on-screen display, the 27-inch 5K Retina screen allows for over 14.7 million pixels and support for over one billion colours, which make images come to life. Other nifty features include True Tone technology that automatically adjusts the display’s colour temperature to your surroundings,  anti-reflective coating, and even a nano-texture glass option that scatters light to further minimise glare.

For video calls, look to the upgraded camera and audio system, which includes a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Centre Stage, a feature that automatically keeps users centred in the frame even as they move around. It also features a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system, the best ever created for Mac, and a three-microphone array for crystal-clear calls and voice recordings.

The new Mac Studio and Studio Display are available to order from Monday, March 14, on apple.com/sg/store and in the Apple Store app, and is coming soon to select Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Resellers.
Mac Studio starts at S$2,899, and S$2,609 for education. Additional configure-to-order options are available at apple.com/sg/store.
Studio Display is S$2,299, and S$2,159 for education. Additional technical specifications, including nano-texture glass and a choice of stand options, are available at apple.com/sg/store.

iPad Air

Those who love the iPad Air‘s winsome versatility and compact design can rejoice knowing that Apple is introducing a new version to the beloved line-up. This one uses the Apple-designed M1 chip, which delivers a massive leap in performance, while it’s also available in a new slate of colours. Other upgrades include a new Ultra Wide front camera with Centre Stage optimised for video calls, a USB-C port with up to 2x faster transfer speeds, and a 5G upgrade on cellular models.

The M1 chip’s performance boost means the affordable model can handle even more demanding apps, with all-day battery life too; its 8-core CPU delivers up to 60 percent faster performance, and the 8-core GPU delivers up to 2x faster graphics performance compared to the previous iPad Air. This means you can edit multiple streams of 4K video, play graphics-intensive games, design in 3D, and have more realistic augmented reality (AR) experiences.

An upgraded Ultra Wide 12MP front camera with Centre Stage lets you hop on video calls with your loved ones, or for learning and work, as seamlessly as possible, with realistic and high detail. There’s also a 12MP Wide camera on the back of the iPad Air to capture sharp photos and 4K video, scan documents, and enjoy amazing AR experiences. As for its screen, you may expect a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with 3.8 million pixels and advanced technologies, including 500 nits of brightness, full lamination, a P3 wide colour gamut, True Tone, and an anti-reflective screen coating. The thin and lightweight iPad Air comes in: space grey, starlight, pink, purple, and a stunning new blue.

The new iPad Air is available to order beginning Friday, March 11, from apple.com/sg/store and in the Apple Store app, with availability beginning Friday, March 18.
Wi-Fi models of iPad Air are available with a starting price of S$879 and Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at S$1,099. The new iPad Air, in 64GB and 256GB configurations, comes in space grey, starlight, pink, purple, and blue finishes.

iPhone SE

Apple’s most affordable iPhone is made even better, which should please those who’ve been waiting months for the news. The new iPhone SE features the performance of the A15 Bionic, which makes for more advanced camera capabilities and overall user experience, now supports 5G and a longer battery life with a 4.7-inch display. It also comes in three colours: midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED.

Its new display takes on the same aerospace-grade aluminium and glass design seen on the back of the iPhone 13 series, with the tough glass on its front and back; it’s also designed to protect against spills and sees the already-familiar Home button with Touch ID. The efficient A15 Bionic, introduced with iPhone 13, then makes everything way faster and more seamless, from launching apps to handling demanding tasks, so it’s 1.8x faster than the iPhone 8, and even faster compared to older models.

With that system upgrade, it means the iPhone SE can now support an all-new camera system, complete with a 12-megapixel ƒ/1.8 aperture Wide camera. Other functions include Smart HDR 4, which uses intelligent segmentation to apply different adjustments for colour, contrast, and noise for optimised exposure and lighting of subjects; Photographic Styles, for presets and intelligent filters; Deep Fusion, which uses advanced machine learning to do pixel-by-pixel processing; and Portrait mode. We also get significantly improved videos with reduced noise, particularly in low light, with better white balance and truer skin tone.

the iPhone SE will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models in midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED starting at S$699.
available for pre-order at 5 a.m. PST / 9 p.m. SGT on Friday, March 11, with availability beginning Friday, March 18.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro in Green

It’s not just one green we’re getting, but two — an alpine green (left) and green (right), coming to the iPhone 13 line-up. Kinda enough said, really.

“People love the design of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13, and we’re excited to unveil the stunning new alpine green and green finishes, which join the wide range of beautiful colours on the iPhone 13 lineup,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “These new colours give customers even more options when choosing their iPhone, and we can’t wait for them to take advantage of all the iPhone 13 lineup offers, including unmatched performance with A15 Bionic, our best camera systems, massive improvements to battery life for everyday needs, fast 5G, incredible durability, and so much more.” We’ll leave you to admire the new shades then.

IPHONE 13 PRO AND IPHONE 13 PRO MAX are currently available in sierra blue, graphite, gold, and silver, and will be available in the new alpine green in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, starting at S$1,649 and S$1,749 respectively.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are currently available in (PRODUCT)RED,6 starlight, midnight, blue, and pink, and will be available in the new green in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, starting at S$1,249 and S$1,149 respectively.
available for pre-order at 5 a.m. PST / 9 p.m. SGT on Friday, March 11, with availability beginning Friday, March 18.

New Balance Champions Fearless Independence With A Feature On Real, Inspiring Women

While scanning through magazine pages filled with the likes of Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are certainly aspirational, nothing’s as inspiring as real women leading real lives — something that New Balance understands quite well. This season, the sportswear brand turns the focus to three inspiring Singaporean women, everyday go-getters who embody their message of fearless independence, to share their stories of excellence.

That’s not to say they’re perfect though; in fact, the women we interviewed talk about fighting for their dreams, and yet, also feeling empowered despite moments of physical weakness, or boldly making things happen no matter the circumstances. We’ve got Vanessa Lee, a student-athlete who has to find motivation from within during her long-distance races; Jia Hui, a host and content strategist who had to strike out her own unconventional path; and Jiamin, a disciplined yoga teacher and founder of Jyan Yoga, who talks about being pro-active in pursuing her goals.

All this resonates greatly with “We Got Now”, New Balance’s long-standing global campaign that champions courageous pursuit of one’s passions, and creating positive action in the present — or, now. Read on to hear how our three young women are doing exactly that.

Vanessa Lee (@vannielyz)
Student / athlete

on vanessa: NB Pace Bra 3.0 in White, $49 ; Uni-ssentials French Terry Crewneck Sweatshirt in Pink Haze, $79 ; Uni-ssentials French Terry Short in Sea Salt Heather, $59 ; Fresh Foam X Vongo v5 in White with Light Mango, $249.

Vanessa is a university student, currently in her final year at the National University of Singapore studying Engineering Science. She’s also a long-distance athlete, and has been running 800m to 10km track and cross-country races since she was in Junior College. When it comes to going after what she wants, Vanessa’s relentless pursuit certainly pays off; she came in first for the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Track and Field Championships Women’s 5000m and 10,000m competition in 2020, and has already begin preparing for her next race, which could happen as soon as next month.

on vanessa: Bucket Hat, $39 ; NB Pace Bra 3.0 in Black, $49 ; XC72 in Summer Fog with Nimbus Cloud, $189. Cardigan and Jeans, model’s own.

Why she resonates with New Balance

“I really like their shoe technology, which is important to an athlete. They have a wide variety of performance shoes that cater to different kinds of training, such as long runs, intervals, and races, even carbon-plated shoes which are of a newer technology — of these, the FuelCell RC Elite v2s are the best out of their entire carbon-plated shoe line. I also like that the brand includes athletes a lot in their campaigns, people who believe in their products and are actually using it.”

On finding motivation and feeling empowered

“As an athlete, you’ve got to create your own opportunities and take every chance you get. For the long-term, you have to be patient in realising your goals, but it’s all the little things you do along the way that count. It’s easy to be motivated when you’re doing something you love, though surrounding yourself with the right people is important too; every single training, I do better when I run with friends. Also, the sport makes me feel strong — especially when I run against guys and kick their asses [laughs]. I feel empowered. It’s like that feeling after finishing a good workout, I might feel physically weak, but on the inside, I feel strong.”

Chow Jia Hui (@chowjiahui)
Content strategist / host and talent at The Smart Local

On Jia Hui: Uni-ssentials French Terry Crewneck Sweatshirt in Varsity Gold, $79 ; Uni-ssentials Cotton Legging Short in Black, $49 ; Socks, $20 ; XC72 in Summer Fog with Nimbus Cloud, $189.

As part of the content strategy team at The Smart Local (TSL), Jia Hui is used to generating ideas for clients’ campaigns. She’s currently focusing on livestreams, which she says is “a very new content type that people don’t really know how to optimise yet”, and trying to make them “organic, fresh and engaging, while aiming to interact with audiences and draw people in”. On top of that, she’s also a host and talent, which requires her to be in front of the camera — though she does work with clients beyond the publishing house as well.

on jia hui: NB Pace Bra 3.0 in Black, $49 ; 574 in Grey, $129. Shirt and Sweatpants, model’s own.

Why she resonates with New Balance

“I was talking to Sheena, the brand manager, earlier and they’ve got exciting plans on inclusivity coming up in the next half of the year! It was an easy fit [working with them], it’s like, I’ve spoken to you guys for so long, how come we’re only doing this now? And there are things I resonate with — such as how they’re standing for confidence and independence, which are things I want to perpetuate in my own life as well.”

On the meaning of independence and fighting for her dreams

“The first thing that comes to mind is a fighting spirit, pushing for things that you desire and things that you want, instead of waiting for things to fall onto your lap. This principle resonates with me very strongly, because I feel that a lot of my life, growing up, has been a fight to push for things that I aspire to do, to push against conventional routes — I was in business school, so it was my struggle whether I should go the corporate route, like the rest of my peers who gun for the big MNCs. For me, I felt like I wanted to take a step away from that, and do media instead, which wasn’t very conventional in my environment. To each his own you know, and I wanted to do something different. I had to carve my own path, so I chose whatever I felt was good for me.”

Jiamin Yang (@jyanyoga)
Yoga teacher / founder of Jyan Yoga

on jiamin: Sports Bra, $49 ; Relentless High Rise 7/8 Tight in Black, $79 ; Fresh Foam 1080v11 in Cyclone With Virtual Sky, $259.

A yoga teacher and the founder of a boutique yoga studio, Jyan Yoga, Jiamin specialises in Yoga Therapy for individuals with back pain and scoliosis, as well as Acroyoga, “a physical practice that combines yoga and acrobatics, for yogis who are looking to make meaningful connections through play”.

Why she resonates with New Balance

“I love how New Balance is constantly making a positive impact on our well-being through inspiring and meaningful work, such as the ‘Own Your Moment’ campaign, which empowers individuals to reconnect with themselves through mindfulness and outdoor activities. It is in line with what I do on a personal and business level — encouraging everyone to take a step back from their busy lives, and having some me-time to understand themselves better.”

on jiamin: Cap, $29 ; Uni-ssentials Cotton Tee in Pink Haze, $49 ; waist bag, $35 ; Fresh Foam X Vongo v5 in Light Mango with Arctic Fox, $249. Skirt, model’s own.

On being pro-active in achieving one’s goals

“It’s all about perspective. It propels me forward in my personal growth and goals as I’m eager to meet my desires for self-improvement and achievements in life. I’m pro-active in setting and achieving my goals, regardless of the situation.”

A Roundup Of Gotham’s Finest ‘The Batman’ Collaborations, Including Watches, Shoes, And Bat-Shaped Pizza

Does the Batman franchise need another reboot? Maybe not, though it certainly helps that actor Robert Pattinson, beyond just Twilight fame mind you, plays the broody caped crusader in 2022’s latest movie, released on 3 March. If you’ve yet to catch The Batman — the movie that is — in cinemas, this is your chance to gear up in style, while watching our anti-hero take down Gotham’s finest villains. Ahead, we’ve got a slew of shoes, watches, bags, and even a bat-shaped pizza to get hyped about.

1. PUMA x Batman

Sportswear brand PUMA presents a moody collection worthy of our gritty hero and the city he swears to protect, bringing together elements of Batman, his Batmobile, and the Bat emblem across multiple footwear styles and apparel. The limited-edition collection is made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, and features clothes and sportswear including hoodies, T-shirts, T7 track suits, shorts, leggings, hats, and more.

The shoes, though, will only be launching later this year, but they’re worth the wait. Of these, the iconic PUMA Suede stands out for its black silhouette with red accents, complete with graphic motifs of bats along its suede upper. Most of the other footwear pay homage to Batman with a mostly-black theme, of the RS-X, Mayze, and Court Rider styles in the covert colourway and accented with red. There’s also a chunky Fierce 2 style inspired by Selina Kyle, or Catwoman.

$22 –$220, in adult and kids sizing. Available from 19 March, with footwear releasing later this year, at PUMA.COM, PUMA Bugis+, MBS, United Square, ION, VIVOCITY, Footlocker.

2. The Batman™ x Fossil

There’s a lot to admire in this The Batmanx Fossil capsule collection — everything from watches, to backpacks and leather accessories, as well as jewellery that includes a Wax Seal Ring fit for a billionaire.

We’ll start with The Batman™ Watch, clearly a highlight of the extensive collection, and a matte-black design that perfectly suits the understated aesthetic of DC’s superhero. The watch takes on the look of the Batsuit, and features a stainless steel, black ion-plated 42mm case, red accents and an automatic movement with date. It arrives with three interchangeable straps as well, each with materials that mimic Batman’s tech — Kevlar®, ballistic nylon and molded silicone.

If you’d like to embrace your inner supervillain though, there’s The Riddler™ Watch, a louder, more graphic piece with a green-and-black checker-patterned leather strap, and details such as The Riddler’s signature question marks on the stainless steel, black ion-plated 44mm case. Then, there are jewellery pieces that see a matte black Dog Tag Necklace, Lava Beads Slider Bracelet, and Wax Seal Ring, all featuring the Bat emblem.

For Fossil’s leather goods, The Batman Backpack is certainly a most functional style, done in rich black leather with four exterior pockets, molle panels on the straps and speed clip details that function as extra security and a unique design element. A silicone-injected Bat emblem makes for subtle detail. Along with that, there’s also a Waistpack, done in a similar style, and leather accessories of card cases and a bifold wallet to represent the caped crusader.

$99 – $509, available at FossilSG.com and Fossil stores.

3. Little Caesars Batman Calzony Pizza

For something that takes itself a lot less seriously, give it up for Little Caesars Pizza and their interpretation of the Batman — The Batman Calzony. This one’s an interesting invention that’s part pepperoni pizza and part calzone, and 100% inspired by the Bat-signal, which you can tell by its bat-wing shape.

The Batman Calzony is essentially a large Pepperoni Pizza topped with Parmesan, pepperoni slices, as well as muenster and mozzarella cheese, made daily with freshly-made dough. What’s new is its calzone-like crust on the edges, folded at the top and bottom to form the head and tail of the bat logo, that’s filled with extra doses of gooey cheese and the brand’s signature garlicky spread. It even comes with a serving of Crazy Sauce® for dipping.

From $10.90 for the BATMAN CALZONY, $12.90 for a meal with a 16oz drink, and $20.88 for a combo meal with 1 set of Caesar Wings and 2 16oz drinks. Available at Little Caesars Pizza outlets for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery.

5 super cool gifts to celebrate the woman in your life

This year, International Women’s Day is all about imagining a gender equal world; forging equality across the sexes, and celebrating women’s achievements. Treat your woman well and show her your appreciation with a nice, thoughtful gift that she will actually like. Here are five that we would love to receive.

Planet Beyond EVR Wireless Earphones in Blush Pink

Planet Beyond is a visionary earphones brand that has taken a very functional, everyday gadget, and turned it into a fashion accessory. The earphones are beautiful products on their own, but are elevated with different charm attachments that are added on like a piece of jewellery. As a gadget, it actually offers surprisingly good audio quality; the bass is full and warm, the mids are clear and balanced, while the treble isn’t sharp but pleasing to the ear. Music sounds really good with these earphones, and they sit in the ear securely and are comfortable.

Why buy? Good sound and its “jewellery” design will resonate with women who love their gadgets a little more feminine and fashionable. There are Gold, Rose Gold and White Gold versions, but we’re really loving the new Blush Pink and Lilac Purple editions that make perfect gifts.

$309 from OSTSOME.COM.

GLAMCOR Home Shaving Mirror

This one might sound like it’s for the boys, but girls do love a good mirror in the shower. This one is made from shatter-proof glass, is fogless, has integrated lights, is waterproof, and rechargeable. It can be mounted on a shower wall easily through a magnetic mounting bar, which also allows the mirror to be easily removed for charging.

USD135 from rikilovesriki.com.

Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE PRO 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad with MagSafe

We’ve found the perfect desktop solution to charging our favourite Apple devices; this charging pad can charge three things at once — iPhone (with wireless charging capabilities), AirPods (or other Qi-certified wireless charging cases) and Apple Watch, which can charge both flat or in Nightstand mode. It comes in sleek black or white, and is perfect for your work desk, or the night stand.

$219 from Belkin’s official store on SHOPEE.

Cricut Easypress Mini

If she’s crafty, she’ll absolutely love anything from Cricut. This mini heat press is light, portable and easy to store. Its ceramic-coated heat plate can transfer iron-ons to small projects like shoes, caps, soft toys, and pockets, and it comes with an insulated base and has an auto-shutoff feature so its pretty safe. While the machine is really simple to use, the results are professional. Again, she’ll love it.

Female Self-Care Apps to Try with Your Apple Devices This International Women’s Day

For the Winnie the Pooh fan — a Mayer collection of everyday kitchen gadgets and portable fans

How do you make a kitchen gadget exciting? Especially when there are millions of them in the market? You slap on Mickey Mouse, or in this case, Winnie the Pooh. And that’s exactly what Mayer has been doing. This household name is known for their kitchen appliances like cookers and ovens, and their smaller gadgets like blenders, choppers and toasters. And for this collaboration with Disney, they’ve taken everyone’s favourite good-natured bear, and decorated their small kitchen appliances and portable fans with his adorable picture. Everything is bathed in yellow (because Pooh), and is limited edition.

We particularly like the waffle maker that comes with a sandwich grill plate and waffle plate. No one can say no to a waffle with a Winnie face. Check out the full collection here:

LANEIGE Unveils The Reinvented Fully-Hydrating Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Line

In today’s digital environment, we are all experiencing a kind of dry skin phenomenon where we constantly feel dryness in our skin no matter the amount of products we apply. This is increasingly caused by skin fatigue and digital dehydration, the common internal and external aggressors that we face during WFH which accelerate our skin dryness.
.

To help combat the unavoidable exposure to stress and our daily interaction with digital screens, LANIEGE has reinvented their best-selling Water Bank range to the new Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Line that is designed to effectively protect your skin with next-level hydration.

After 38 years of intense research and development, the full range of the Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic line currently consists of 9 products, each packed with the new and exclusive Blue Hyaluronic Acid that helps to strengthen the skin barrier by three times and repair damaged skin barrier. Due to its smaller molecules, the Blue Hyaluronic Acid also allows for faster absorption and allows the skin to retain moisture longer and at a deeper level.

Here’s a closer look at the new Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Line.
.

The LANEIGE Water bank Blue Hyaluronic Line is now available online at the LANEIGE Flagship Store on LAZADA and SHOPEE, and will be available at all LANEIGE boutiques and department store as well as Sephora from 10 March 2022.

CHANEL COCO BAUME is the chicest lip balm money can buy

CHANEL has a new lip product (again) and this time it’s a coloured lip balm. We love that it’s moisturising and comfortable on the lips, and we really like that it comes in a sleek white and gold tube.

Above: lily-rose depp features as the face of the rouge coco baume campaign.

Like most lip balms, this one is hydrating on lips, and of course, balmy in texture. The moisturising active ingredient is shea butter, combined with three plant waxes, which are at the heart of the Hydra Boost Complex — a signature ingredient of CHANEL’s famed ROUGE COCO line. There’s also an Olive Oleoactive, a new active ingredient that’s produced specifically for CHANEL, and derived through a patented sustainable extraction process called oleo-eco-extraction. The resulting formula is silky, and glides onto lips easily, hydrating and protecting lips the entire day.

While the balm is available in six shades, there’s also a colourless version that’s an essential in our makeup bags. The shades are inspired by the flowers that grow around La Pausa, from a deep burgundy and a fresh pink, to a powerful fuchsia. They slick on as a sheer wash of colour, and are incredibly buildable, so you can transform your lips from just a hint of colour into an intense shade, all with a semi-matte finish that’s practical to wear under face masks.

CHANEL ROUGE COCO BAUME 2022 is available in 7 shades and priced at $53 each. shop online at SG-ESHOP.CHANEL.COM.

The Non Season — Art Meets Fashion At This Innovative Installation At Design Orchard

Orchard Road just got more exciting — and dare we say, not in the typical way you’d expect. Beyond its always-dazzling lights and reputation as a retail haven, creative collective Hyphen BB, together with over 20 Singapore-based artists and designers, have transformed the Design Orchard building into a welcome space that celebrates vibrant art amidst its retail offerings.

Happening now till 10 April 2022, ‘The Non Season‘ is a public art, fashion and lifestyle activation, set in the heart of Orchard Road, that recognises contemporary artists such as Marla Bendini, Mike Chang, and Robert Zhao. The initiative is supported by National Arts Council (NAC) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), as part of the Art Around the City campaign.

The Non-Season: the art installations

What we get to experience are visually-arresting and thought-provoking art installations that take over the familiar spaces of the building’s pillars, staircase, rooftop, shop floor, and window displays; a bunch of colourful tubemen dancing in the wind brings joy to passing pedestrians, for instance, while a butterfly-studded mirror holds touching meaning, meant to represent marginalised subcultures. The roster of artists includes Howie Kim, Divaagar, Aki Hassan, Urich Lau and Masuri Mazlan too, all similarly challenged to create art that’s inspired by the precinct’s rich history and legacy.

“The possibility of being provocative in the middle of the most glamorous shopping street in the country is delicious. We are excited to see artists responding to the histories, ecologies and publics of the area while subverting the context of a retail store”, said Hyphen BB, which is led by industry veterans May Leong, Becca D’Bus and Bobby Luo. As for why it’s titled as such, Leong shared with us during a tour of the space that it’s a tongue-in-cheek reference to how fashion’s seasonal calendar is irrelevant in always-tropical Singapore.

The activation is also a multi-disciplinary one, with workshops, panel discussions, live performances and heritage tours, which will take place throughout the duration of the initiative. These programmes include live performances by local band Tiramisu, tours by heritage blogger Jerome Lim, and Mynah Appreciation Society Tours, which pays homage to the misunderstood birds we often spot (or hear) along the Somerset stretch.

Here’s a look at the refreshed space at Design Orchard.

The Non Season: the capsule collections

On top of these, The Non Season also features exclusive fashion and lifestyle collaborations, which sees Singapore-based artists pairing up with local brands and designers to offer a range of apparel, accessories and lifestyle products. These collaborations are made possible by Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFF), and feature homegrown brands such as The 1925 Brewing Co., Ans.ein, Cocoonese, Sabrina Goh, Singapore Memories and Wet Tee Designs, available  exclusively at Design Orchard.

Moleskine has a Sakura collection by Japanese Textile Designer, Yuri Himuro

For its annual limited edition Spring collection, Moleskine collaborates with Japanese textile designer, Yuri Himuro for a collection of notebooks and diaries made to showcase the beauty of the Hanami Season.

Himuro takes inspiration from Ueno Park — a favourite Tokyo cherry blossom viewing spot where she walks her dog. These inspired designs feature on gorgeous notebook covers of various sizes. Each shows a different element of her Ueno Park story, and if you collect all the designs, you can see the entire picture of what’s in her mind.

Of note, there’s a Sakura Collector’s Box that’s adorned with SNIP SNAP fabric, which is a fabric of two layers — the first of which can be cut to reveal colours and woven images hidden underneath that complement the original design.

And if you want to make your Moleskine even more special, Moleskine Paragon has launched their customisation service in store, where you can get your name and/or initials featured on the cover.

The Sakura Collection is now available at Moleskine Paragon, #02-20 290 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238859.
