As part of the National Day celebrations earlier in August, OPPO Singapore launched the “Friends of Singapore” campaign to showcase the diversity and inclusivity of Singapore’s social fabric, which includes our animal companions.
In a partnership with a local community of photographers, students from LASALLE College of the Arts, and animal welfare organisations PurelyAdoptions and Cat Welfare Society, OPPO Singapore aims to support Singapore’s vision of building an animal-friendly society.
This also aligns with the regulatory change of allowing HDB residents to own up to two cats.
Using its latest photography technology, OPPO Singapore looked at capturing stray animals in their best light, and to create interesting interactions between humans and animals through the application of AI technology in everyday scenarios, helping to foster more loving relationships and emotional connections.
For the campaign, OPPO Singapore invited 12 families which included the founders of PurelyAdoptions, the President of the Cat Welfare Society, volunteers, caregivers, and adopters to share their heartwarming stories, emphasising the importance of only fulfilling a pet’s physical needs but also establishing a profound emotional connection with them.
In addition to this, OPPO Singapore has also created stickers using the AI Smart Image Matting feature which allows stickers to be made at a simple tap of the finger, effectively separating pet portraits from the photos’ cluttered backgrounds.
This have since been distributed with purchases made on online channels as an important reminder of compassion towards all living beings including stray animals.
