Since launching their Chinese New Year collection, LOEWE has made it an annual tradition to honour Chinese craft. This year is no different as its collection is inspired by the ancient art of Chinese cloisonné.
Traditionally used in the royal court, Chinese cloisonné is a decorative enamel technique that is characterised by its vibrant colours, intricate forms, and unique manufacturing process, which sees precious metal wire enclosures shaped into pattern and motifs filled with coloured glass paste.
As part of its Lunar New Year collection for 2025, LOEWE has partnered with Xiong Songtao, a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts and third-generation enamelled, to create two sets of cloisonné works — a Nest bag with snake head and lotus cloisonné details, and necklaces with cloisonné pendants featuring motifs of the snake, monkey and cloud.
The inspired craft can also be seen in the house’s ready-to-wear pieces, shoes, accessories, and a series of special edition bags.
Key pieces to look out for include new clutch bags in the shape of a cloud and a coiled snake, as well as the iconic Puzzle bag and Pebble Bucket, which have been animated with 3D effect clouds and jewellery-like snake chains.
