Chanel’s Les Beiges cushion foundation has been our go-to for years. We’ve written (and gushed) about it countless times and it has travelled the world with us. And then along comes a new Ultra Le Teint Cushion in a matte solid black case; it’s sleek and very classy, everything we would expect from Chanel, but the wow factor really comes with the foundation’s formula.
The silky cream foundation sits well within the mesh netting and doesn’t overflow or leak out like the issue we had with the original Les Beiges cushion; and best of all, with the sponge applicator, it picks up just the right amount of product each time to pat onto the face.
The texture is surprisingly less of a cream, but more like a water-based liquid foundation; and it feels glorious on the skin — cooling, hydrating and fresh. With such a lightweight formula, we expected a sheer finish, but this gives near-perfect coverage; skin looks more even, texture is smoother, the finish is luminous yet semi-matte, and it still looks natural to the point where no one will notice it on your skin.
We touched up some marks with concealer, then did a light dusting of Chanel’s Natural Finish Loose Powder. The foundation kept our complexion looking fresh and even for an entire day, and we can confidently say that this is our new favourite cushion compact. We just wish it had included SPF.
