Louis Vuitton kicks off a year-long celebration for 130 years of its legendary monogram

Since its inception in 1896 by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father and founder of the House, Louis, the Monogram canvas has become one of the most enduring and revered emblems, that isn’t just a motif but also a universal symbol of heritage, culture and innovation.

Today, Louis Vuitton celebrates 130 years of the creation of its iconic canvas with collections and dedicated windows in an all-year round celebration, starting with the unveiling of new, special-edition Monogram bag collections in January 2026.

Inspired by Neo-Gothic ornamentation and the influence of Japnoism, Georges Vuitton’s design was created to safeguard the authenticity of the House’s creations, soon becoming a defining signature and enduring hallmark of Louis Vuitton’s spirit.

Throughout its history, the Monogram has united generations of creators, collectors, and cultural icons, while also guiding the hands of the House’s master artisans, shaping the vision of its renowned creative directors, and inspiring leading artists to create exceptional collaborations.

Kicking off its Monogram anniversary year in 2026, Louis Vuitton celebrates its most iconic Monogram bags namely the Speedy, the Keepall, the Noé, the Alma, and the Neverfull, alongside the unveiling of its new Monogram Anniversary Collection featuring three special-edition bags that reinterpret the Monogram through modern design, diverse materials, as well as cutting-edge and traditional craft techniques.

Reimagining the 1896 pattern through a brand-new Monogram canvas, the Monogram Origine Collection revisits the traditional jacquard weave, now crafted from a linen and cotton blend in a palette of soft pastel hues, and draws inspiration from the cover of an archival client register of the House.

The Time Trunk Collection, on the other hand, bridges the past and present through bold trompe-l’oeil printing which reproduces the textures and metallic details of Louis Vuitton’s historic trunks, transforming its known heritage into artful illusion.

Rounding up the designs is the VVN Collection which pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s leather goods legacy. Crafted using the finest natural cowhide, the collection reflects the purity, authenticity, and the tactile poetry of hand-finished leather, with each piece developing a unique patina over time.
