Meet Hush: VALORANT’s Newest Agent on Personal Style, Horror Films and Growing Up in Guangdong

From her love of psychological thrillers and carefully curated outfits to her impressive stationery collection, Hush is more than just the newest face joining VALORANT. Hailing from Guangdong in southern China, the game’s latest Duelist brings a distinctive sense of style, a fascination with the supernatural and a personality that’s equal parts meticulous and mysterious.

Fresh off her grand debut at VALORANT Champions in Shanghai, we caught up with Hush to learn more about her upbringing, the things that inspire her and, of course, her approach to fashion.

But first, here’s everything you need to know about VALORANT’s newest agent.

A homecoming on the world stage

VALORANT is the five-on-five tactical shooter where precise aim meets the kind of character-driven flair more often seen in a fighting game. Its agents are split into four classes: Duelists take fights, Initiators open up engagements, Controllers block sightlines and Sentinels hold areas.

VALORANT Grand Finals

The game’s biggest stage is Valorant Champions, the world championship that closes out each competitive season. This year it landed in Shanghai, where LOUD beat Team Vitality 3–1 in Sunday’s grand final to take the $1 million prize, and became the first organisation to win the title twice.

Leo Faria, Head of VALORANT Esports said:

“One of the things that makes Champions special is how much bigger it’s become than the competition itself. VALORANT lives across gaming, fashion, art, music, and so many different communities, and you really see those worlds come together at Champions.“

But the trophy wasn’t the only thing that changed hands that afternoon.

Just before the final, Riot Games unveiled its newest agent. The cinematic trailer, shown right after the opening ceremony, was captioned with a hushed “Shh… Hush is here.” Titled “Rise and Fall,” it follows her into a neon-lit restaurant, where she disarms a group of armed thugs, steals a Ghost pistol, and throws a die to use as an anchor before dashing to it. It’s a smart bit of staging: a quiet character announced to a loud arena.

For Riot, the setting mattered as much as the spectacle. Hush comes from China, and she was introduced in China.

Anna Donlon, Head of VALORANT Studios, said:

“There’s something incredibly special about introducing Hush in her home country and feeling that excitement ripple through the arena in real time. When a local community can feel seen and recognised through the work that we do, it makes VALORANT just that much better. Moments like that remind me that VALORANT is so much more than the game itself. It’s the players, the culture, and the communities around the world that bring it to life.”

Who is Hush?

Hush hails from Guangdong in southern China. She speaks Cantonese in the trailer, a language with deep roots in the province, and she’s the third Chinese agent in the game after Sage and Iso.

Hush, VALORANT’s newest agent.

A teaser released before the reveal gave an early hint of her temperament: she interrogates someone in an alley while a knife floats beside her. With much of her personal history still shrouded in mystery, Hush is a character who leaves plenty to the imagination.

As a Duelist, Hush brings a unique set of telekinetic abilities to the game, allowing her to manipulate objects, displace enemies and move across the battlefield with precision. Game designer Nicholas Smith said the team wanted to explore a Duelist built around precision and control, one who feels “always one step ahead,” creating openings, disrupting enemies and setting up her own advantage.

Hush becomes the game’s ninth Duelist and joins in Season 2026 Act 6, going live on 27 October in the Americas and 28 October in all other regions.

But beyond her abilities and mysterious backstory, there’s much more to Hush than meets the eye. From her love of horror films to the meticulous way she plans her outfits, we sat down with the newest agent to get to know the person behind the powers.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

“Hi! I’m Hush. I work for an organisation that… I probably can’t discuss in a public context, but we deal with anomalous phenomena that pose a risk to public safety. We evaluate possible causes, secure the site, and then tidy things up so no one knows we were there. Some might call it spooky. And I’d agree. It has the potential for spookiness. But it’s fun, and challenging, and I learn something every day, so I can’t ask for more than that. Oh, also, I’m Hush. Did I start with that? Probably. You can check the recording.”

You grew up in Guangdong. What do you remember most about home?

“My family. And food. And noise. Lots of those three things. I spent a lot of time in the lab, too, and that was great, but being at home with my family was the best. We played a lot of mahjong. I got very good because my grandmother is merciless. I don’t recommend playing against her. Other than that, when I think of home, I think of my mom. She’s important to me. We talk every day. Also she’s technically my boss, if you skip several levels of executive management, but that’s for another time.”

Your room must be interesting. What does it look like?

“I think it’s interesting, sure! I like to keep a clean living space. It helps. My mom always said that clutter is toxic, which seems extreme but I understand where she’s coming from and that’s also just how she talks. I like to decorate with movie posters. Horror, specifically. Horror as a genre pushes us in important ways, and I like to remember that, especially if I’m not feeling my best. Also it looks super cool. Right? Zombies and vampires are objectively cool.”

What’s something you have objectively too much of but will continue buying anyway?

“Stationery. It’s an active problem that I’m working on. Washi tape, too. I journal every night to help organise my thoughts. You’d be surprised how many little details about our lives slip away if you don’t pay attention to them. And why not make those little details look cute on paper? I have more than one drawer dedicated to this hobby and I won’t apologise for it.”

You have a very distinctive sense of style. How would you describe your relationship with fashion?

“Thank you! My relationship to fashion is… amicable. I like dressing well, and I like feeling my best, but I want to decide what that means when I’m putting an outfit together. It’s not about a particular brand or style, but reflecting yourself every day. I’m a detail-oriented person, so that shows up in the clothes that I wear.”

So what does getting ready in the morning look like for you?

“Most of the work happens the night before. I like to arrange my outfit before bed, right after journaling, actually. That way I can spend more time on my hair, which takes considerably longer. Hair care is a lot of work, but it’s the kind of work I enjoy, and it puts me in the right mindset for the day. By the way, this is just for an everyday outfit. If we’re talking about a special occasion, or travel, or a conference, I plan things out… well in advance. I won’t say how far in advance because it’s an incriminating amount of time.”

What makes an outfit feel finished to you?

“When there’s nothing left that bothers me. I notice small things, so I’d rather address them before heading out. There’s nothing worse than stepping into the office and seeing something that’s gonna annoy you for the next eight hours. Actually, I lied. There are many worse things, including this new theory I read last week that exposure to certain forms of Radianite can cause the human body to accumulate misfolded proteins, and that’s worth thinking about. You should do a story about that.”

You’re a big horror fan. What draws you to it?

“Psychological thrillers. I like when something feels wrong before you understand why. A good horror film gives you all these little details and asks you to decide which ones matter. Sometimes the thing you dismissed at the beginning was the thing you should have been watching the entire time. I like realising I missed something. It means there was more to notice.”

So what actually scares you?

“I don’t scare easily. I’m much worse with unanswered questions. If something doesn’t make sense to me, I have a hard time leaving it alone. I need to know why. People say I don’t know when to stop asking questions. I do know. I simply have more questions.”

What’s one thing you never leave home without?

“My ghosties. I’ve had them since I was young. They came from a gacha machine for this supernatural TV series from the 80’s that nobody’s ever heard of that aired in Hong Kong. I’ve kept them all this time, so I suppose they’re sentimental. I don’t generally consider myself a sentimental person, but evidence suggests otherwise.”
