First introduced by Lee Alexander McQueen in 2009, the Knuckle Clutch has become a signature piece that is synonymous with the British fashion house. The clutch combines the expertise and savoir-faire of the McQueen atelier with knuckle-inspired hardware which reflects the rebellious energy of the house.
Since its debut, the Knuckle Clutch has undergone various reiterations with different contemporary, sculptural handles and intricate embroideries and for this year’s special collection, six new variations are introduced; combining some of the most memorable, archival sculptural handles, with newly developed embellishments.
Rose and Snake Knuckle Clutch
Embodying McQueen’s enduring connection with nature, the Rose and Snake Knuckle Clutch — first released for Spring Summer 2018 — features a handle that forms a dramatic sculpted motif that is cast in metal.
In addition to that is a depiction of a British garden snake that is coiled around the stem of a singular rose with a skull, a signature of the house. You’ll also find accompanying embroidered artwork on the black leather that uses three-dimensional floral embroidery, comprised of various sized glass crystal stones and beadwork.
The Rose and Snake Knuckle Clutch is available in black leather with gold or silver hardware and tonal embroidery.
Rose Knuckle Clutch
Having made its debut for Autumn Winter 2015, the Rose Knuckle Clutch interprets the narrative of The English Rose, a reoccurring jewellery theme for McQueen.
Handcrafted using a jewellery casting technique, you’ll find an arrangement of statement metal roses that adorn the signature knuckle handle. This is in addition to the mirror-finish roses which have been contrasted with jet-black, faceted crystal embroidery that is applied to a black satin base.
The Rose Knuckle Clutch is available with gold or silver-tone metal hardware, and with all-over jet crystal embellishment.
Spider Jewelled Knuckle Clutch
First released for Autumn Winter 2019, the Spider Knuckle Clutch features four individual rings that create its signature knuckle handle. Each ring that you see is cut to a different shape and completed with a faceted stone, with one ring bearing an intricate spider motif — an integral reference for the house to the subverted beauty of nature.
For this exclusive capsule collection, you’ll find two embroidered variations of the Spider Knuckle Clutch: One with multicolour faceted glass stone embellishment on black satin, gold metal hardware and an all-over glass bead, and another with crystal embroidery on black leather with silver metal hardware.
