MCM’s Lunar New Year 2023 capsule features Haru the Wicked Rabbit!

For this Lunar New Year, German luxury house, MCM splashes its bags and accessories with Haru the Wicked Rabbit, a character from the brand’s fan favourite trio, “Henry, Haru, Kaiser”! Haru is reinvented in a graffiti-driven aesthetic that also makes reference to the German Easter Hare.

Haru is set against MCM’s classic Visetos monogram in Cognac, and in popular styles including the studded backpack, a shopper, unisex messenger and smaller accesssories like travel wallets and charms. Start New Brick-Building Family CNY Traditions with LEGO’s Latest Festive Sets

The festivities continue at the start of 2023 as we begin our prep for the Lunar New Year celebration. Aside from having to make sure you’ve got all your snacks and food sorted, it is also important to ensure your family and guests stay entertained with fun activities. In their fifth year since the launch of their first Chinese Traditional Festival sets, LEGO continues their annual festive release with the LEGO Creator White Rabbit and two new CNY sets, the Lunar New Year Display and Lunar New Year Parade, which offer different aspects of the traditional holiday. Here’s a closer look at each set.

A festive set that could work almost as an art piece even after CNY, the Lunar New Year Display ($119.90) set features two decorative models that are designed around the commonly heard greetings ‘招財進寶 ’ which signifies the ushering in of wealth and prosperity, and ‘花开富贵’ which loosely translates to when flowers bloom, prosperity comes.

Both models feature printed tiles for the greeting in Mandarin and iconic symbols to represent them. These include gold ingots, koi fish, red packets, peonies, yellow flowers, and the exclusive butterfly tiles which are a brand new LEGO element that is unique to this set (for now)!

It has become such a fashion icon — most notably for its appearance on television series Sex And The City — that the Italian luxury house has no choice but to go big on the 25th anniversary of their signature bag. This time, they’ve joined forces with jewellery brand Tiffany & Co., for a one-of-a-kind Baguette bag handcrafted entirely in sterling silver, as well as a capsule collection of Tiffany Baguette bags that are set to drop on Thursday, January 5, at 8:30am EST, or, 9.30pm SGT.

First up, this stunner. The exclusive Tiffany Baguette bag is an artisanal masterpiece, thoughtfully handmade by skilled artisans over an extensive four months. The bag represents a partnership between FENDI’s ‘hand in hand’ initiative, and Tiffany Makers, artisans at the Tiffany & Co. hollowware workshop in Rhode Island, which then comes through via certain design choices; the bag is engraved with lilies, the national flower of Italy, and roses, the flower that represents the state of New York.

You’ll notice that the form of the bag is crafted to a specific size and shape modelled after the Baguette, while Tiffany & Co. silversmiths employ an age-old technique to sculpt the floral design onto the bag, all done by hand.

To accompany the unique piece, FENDI and Tiffany & Co. have also put together a special capsule collection of Tiffany Baguette bags in smooth leather, shiny croco leather and silk satin, in medium, nano and pico sizes.

These reference the key codes of the two houses, including the recognisable FENDI FF Zucca clasp, now with a twist as eagle-eyed observers would spot the Tiffany T logo embedded within. Naturally, the jeweller’s trademarked Tiffany Blue™ shade is seen here too, alongside a little Return to Tiffany^® charm that accents each bag.

Samsung Kicks Off 2023 with the Affordable All-New Galaxy A14 5G Smartphone

The year has barely begun but it’s no rest for the tech industry as Samsung has unveiled their first smartphone of 2023, one that joins its lineup of Galaxy A models — the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G.

Dubbed as an affordable successor to the Galaxy A13 5G that was released in 2021, the Galaxy A14 5G has undergone some smart upgrades to include a 6.6-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling, and an improved selfie cam. It also sports a refined design that changes out the rounded plastic body to a flat back.

Though the Galaxy A14 5G still uses the same processing chip as its predecessor, the processor has been upgraded with 5G capabilities, which enable apps to render beautifully and run efficiently.

There’s also a newly upgraded Security and Privacy Dashboard which offers an easy, transparent way for you to see how apps track data and to quickly disable unwanted tracking, as well as a built-in Samsung Health app to track body composition, sleep patterns, and exercise regimen. This can be seamlessly synced with other smart devices like the Galaxy Watch5.

The triple-lens rear camera array includes a 50-megapixel main camera which comes with low-res macro and depth sensors to give greater depth to details, colours, and subjects in every scene, while the selfie camera has been upgraded from Galaxy A13 5G’s 5MP front camera to a 13MP front camera for clearer, sharper selfies and wefies.

Similar to the previous model, the Galaxy A14 5G also comes with a 5,000 mAh battery to ensure long-lasting performance on a single charge so that you only have to charge your phone at the end of the day.

Adorable bunny accessories from LOEWE’s Year of the Rabbit capsule collection

LOEWE releases a capsule collection for the Year of the Rabbit, which includes a small range of ready-to-wear pieces and bunny-inspired accessories like bags and charms. There are a few t-shirts and sweatshirts that will sell really well, and the rabbit bags are adorable and worth collecting if you’re into bunnies or if this is your zodiac animal.

To get a sense of the collection, you have to watch the campaign video starring actor, Tang Wei.

We’d also love to receive a giant LOEWE box at our door, but to be honest, we’re not sure what we’d do with that giant plush bunny (we wonder if Tang Wei gets to keep it after the shoot). So in the video, it rides pillion on the back of her scooter — we wouldn’t recommend this IRL… and then she hops on a bus with it (we want to know what happened to the scooter!) and hugs it all the way to her destination (smart of her to use the giant floppy ear as a blanket). It ends up in another home joining a much smaller version of itself — the LOEWE Bunny bag in shearling. We have to admit, the bag is extremely cute and we want one.

While we have so many questions about the video, the products are straightforward. The “twist” given to the bag collection is the knotting of the floppy ears at the top. It actually works well even on the Hammock bag design. We say the raffia basket, in particular, will sell out first because of its lower price point and branded design with the coveted monogram on its side.

The Bunny candles are worth a look as well. LOEWE has incredible candle scents so we imagine these will smell great (it’s described as having notes of white chocolate, rice, caramel, cream and vanilla). Only thing is how these rabbits will burn. Do they melt inwardly and hold their outer shape? Or their face goes first and it becomes headless and the children start screaming.

Quiet Concealing — The Best New Concealer to buy for 2023 is Chanel’s Sublimage Concealing Eye Care

This is the year to invest in better makeup and skincare. We tell ourselves that every beginning of a new year. This 2023, I’ve decided it’s going to be concealer. For years I’ve been hooked on Clé de Peau Beauté’s stick concealer — and I still bring it out with me because of its convenient form. But here’s the problem I’ve never talked about before; as my skin ages, it gets drier and fine lines take hold of my forehead and under my eyes. My dark rings and their puffiness have also become more pronounced and I’ve reached the age where more sleep can’t correct them. CPB’s concealer used to do the trick beautifully, but not so much in recent years. The thing about its cream stick form factor, is that it starts to get dry over time, especially if you only use a little bit of it each time and it takes forever to finish one stick. It loses its creaminess over the months and I find myself having to warm it up longer between my fingers to “activate” it again. It’s also a rich formula, which now isn’t sitting so well under my eyes and their newfound lines. God bless them, though; I’ve loved this concealer to death and have never spoken badly of it.

Then late last year, Chanel quietly came along with their first concealer under their luxurious Sublimage line of skincare, called the Radiance-Generating Concealing Eye Care. It’s a little pot of cream with the brand’s signature logo (in gold, of course) on the cap, and both applicator and mini brush included.

The brush is extremely cute, with a soft, rounded head that resembles the style of the larger face brush that comes with the Sublimage liquid foundation.

If you’re already a user of Chanel foundations, this concealer follows the same shade names and numbers as the foundations, so you can easily buy this off Chanel’s online store without needing to visit the counter for a colour swatch. I use shade 20 – Beige across all my Chanel base makeup products, and this concealer is no different; the shade 20 matches my skin tone perfectly.

The texture of this product is very creamy and feels lightweight, but not sheer. It blends so easily on skin, melting and disappearing once patted in. It also feels like nothing; which is precisely what makeup should feel like. Very little product is needed for one application across both eyes, and anywhere else on the face that needs concealing. It effectively lightened my dark eyebags, and was excellent at camouflaging redness and sun spots. When I was done, my skin actually did look more even and refreshed.

And because this makeup is under Chanel’s prestigious Sublimage line, it has skincare properties that will improve skin over time. Just one application around my eye area already makes the delicate skin there feel more hydrated. I also spy the brand’s proprietary Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Water in the list of ingredients, and this essence is what regenerates and repairs skin. For all these reasons, I would recommend this makeup/skincare hybrid as the first product you should buy this new year.

Review: Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator, with an innovative modular and customisable concept

A fridge isn’t just a fridge. It’s the place everyone in the family visits multiple times a day, and derives great joy from. It’s the home appliance that’s worth investing in and Samsung knows it. Back in 2021, they unveiled their line of Bespoke customisable refrigerators, and it was a much-welcomed innovation in a saturated category. It was its own new classic with a modern, minimalist design and a “Flat Style” that gave it the ability to fit seamlessly into kitchen cabinetry and carpentry settings. It became one with the furniture, and was more than just functional — it was stylish. Also, stylish not in a “gadgety” way, but in an actual designer way.

The Bespoke refrigerator — as its name implies — is customisable. It has a modular concept where the home owner can “add on” and join units where needed, and even choose the direction in which each door opens for selected fridge models. It’s also offered in 8 colours, but this too is fully customisable with decals so you can turn your once straightforward home appliance into a work of art.

And just recently, Samsung released whole new design collections, including the Bespoke Wallpaper Collection (eight trend-focused designs from botanicals to monochromatic options), and a Bespoke Disney Collection and the Bespoke Marvel Collection (the Marvel designs will launch at a later date).

With all the multiple combinations of the fridge, the 4-Door Flex model suited my household best, and because its exterior design is so sleek and discreet, I placed it outside of my kitchen and across the dining table.

My house has an overall black and white aesthetic, so I chose the Glam Navy shade for all four doors; the colour is sophisticated and there’s always the option of customised decals in the future should I wish to change the look and feel of the product (and hence, room).

While the exterior of the BESPOKE 4-Door Flex is immaculate, it’s also the inside technology and functionality that counts when selecting something as important as a fridge for the household. And I’d like to think that I’m generally a neat person, so fridge organisation is very important to me. Here’s the inside of my fridge:

I have a spinning tray for sauces on the top shelf (so i can spin it around to reach all the bottles easily), clear under-shelf drawers for healthy fruits (so it’s easy for the kids to see them when they’re looking for a snack), and a double tray dispenser for canned drinks.

I love that these storage bins are modular, so i can adjust them based on the height of the items.

It’s now been four months living with the Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator, and every friend who has dropped by my place sees it and comments on how sleek it is. It’s like a piece of furniture that sits beautifully in the hallway; it’s shiny and I can see my reflection in it, plus it lends an air of glam and sophistication to the room I placed it in. Sure, it’s slightly pricier than the regular fridge, but is it worth the investment? Well, when I think about the next decade that this will serve me and my family, then absolutely.
