Pokémon Air Adventures Takes Flight In Singapore, With The Pikachu Jet TR And A Special Pikachu Weekend

The Pokémon hype is still going strong, as it should, and we’ll soon get to see our favourite pocket monsters embark on new adventures in and around Singapore. Pokémon Air Adventures, an extensive project by The Pokémon Company, starts off first with a partnership with Scoot to launch the Pikachu Jet TR, followed by a series of events and activations, including a night show at Marina Bay and an upcoming Pokémon GO event. Basically, lots of exciting things that locals and regional tourists can enjoy.

Ahead, we detail the experiences you may look forward to, from the special Pokémon-themed aircraft, to the Pikachu Weekend that’s slated for November this year.

Pikachu Jet TR

Fancy boarding a flight completely decked out with your favourite Pokémon? Spot Pikachu, Pichu, Lapras, Meganium, and the mythical Celebi on the exterior of a Scoot aircraft, which marks the first time an ASEAN airline outside of Japan is launching original Pokémon-themed livery. The Pikachu Jet TR, with its custom-made design, is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a capacity of 375 seats, and will make its first flight on 9 September 2022 to Tokyo, Japan.

Within the jet, you’ll find themed livery, curated Japanese-inspired inflight meals, and Pikachu-related merchandise of a lanyard, bucket hat and tote bag that will get you fully immersed into the experience. There’s even a collector’s edition of the particular aircraft model, as a souvenir for fans to relive the momentous occasion. You may purchase these during flight bookings via Scoot’s website and mobile app from 9 September, or while on the inaugural flight.

Flights onboard the Pikachu Jet TR depart bi-monthly from Changi Airport to Tokyo (Narita) and Seoul, with fare prices for one-way tickets starting from $333 for a trip to Tokyo and $231 for a trip to Seoul (inclusive of taxes). The flight routes will rotate every 2 – 3 months however, and you can keep track of that by heading over to Scoot’s flyschoot.com.

Exclusive Merchandise — Scoot x Pokémon Lanyard, Fly Away Pokémon Bag, Pikachu’s Bucket Hat.

Pikachu Weekend in Singapore

To up the excitement and make Singapore the go-to destination for all things Pokémon, a special Pikachu Weekend will be held in Singapore, from 18 to 20 November 2022. Word has it that we’ll be privy to a night show held at Marina Bay, with more details to be released closer to the date, as well as play host to “Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Singapore”, a Pokémon GO event for mobile gamers, which will be held at Gardens by the Bay.

Users who are active within the AR mobile game community can purchase a ticket and participate at the main site at Gardens by the Bay over the weekend, where they may look forward to special in-app Pokémon spawns. Maractus, for instance, will appear in the wild, and for the first time in Pokémon GO, users will be able to encounter Shiny Purrloin if they’re lucky. An exclusive event Pikachu, this time wearing a flowery purple t-shirt, will also appear in the month of November in Singapore to commemorate the occasion.

The Pikachu Jet TR will begin its inaugural flight on 9 September 2022. More information at flyscoot.com.

The CHANEL Rouge Allure L’Extrait Is Their Latest High-Intensity Lipstick — Here Are 9 Of Our Favourite Shades

The days of subtle, nude lipsticks are over. In its place? Bold lips, which seem to be making a comeback after years of being stifled under our masks. Earlier in July, CHANEL Beauty heralded the arrival of high-intensity, high-impact formulas with the ROUGE ALLURE L’EXTRAIT, a formidable new version of their signature lipstick line that does the most in a single swipe.

Made for boldness, each lipstick contains a high concentration of pigments, in shades that range from intense beige to a fiery red — which, of course, we had to try out. Turns out, these are as major as promised.

On May: CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE L’EXTRAIT in 854 Rouge Puissant – a powerful red.

The ROUGE ALLURE L’EXTRAIT is housed in a sleek gold case that’s slimmer than its predecessor, though still with that distinctive and satisfying click we associate with the ROUGE ALLURE. As for the shades, these go on vibrant and exciting, and are the kind of colours that absolutely define your makeup look and inspire confidence.

And while there are 20 shades in total, we’ve selected 9 key shades from the series that look flattering across multiple skin tones, pairing them with makeup looks that bring out the scintillating picks.

[Click on the images to expand.]

Beige Brut, for instance, is described as a “light pink beige”, but takes on new meaning when paired with sultry, kohl-lined eyes for a more dramatic effect. Rose Invincible is a lovely retro-tinged rosewood, while Brun Affirmé is a light terracotta that we think is versatile enough to stand out against neutral eyeshadow and natural skin.

The pink tones of Rose Impulsif and Corail Sanguin lean themselves towards glittery eyes and blush that goes right up to the cheekbones, while the stunning Rose Impérial is another favourite of ours that looks especially flattering on a darker skin tone. Of course, there’s also Rouge Puissant, a powerful red that doesn’t need much, save for a rock ‘n’ roll graphic liner.

To note, colour isn’t just the only thing CHANEL has chosen to go full intensity on; the satin-finish formula is also big on radiance and caring for our lips. Its luminous appearance is achieved thanks to ingredients with powerful light-reflecting properties, which creates a sleek look that flatters lips, making them look smooth and cast in the best light. Then, a concentrated conditioning complex keeps lips supple, as ume flower enfleurage oil and plant waxes further nourish, moisturise and protect the lips for up to 12 hours, ensuring both a long-lasting makeup look and healthy lips underneath it.

This is also the first time CHANEL is introducing a refillable lipstick to their line-up, an eco-conscious decision by the Parisian house, and a continuation of their efforts in their N°1 DE CHANEL collection. The refills arrive in a slim golden cartridge that fit in perfectly within the lipstick’s outer case, which gives off a look that’s as luxurious as the formulas within.

ROUGE ALLURE L’EXTRAIT , IN 20 SHADES. $73 FOR THE LIPSTICK; $53 FOR THE REFILL. AVAILABLE AT CHANEL FRAGRANCE & BEAUTY COUNTERS, AND SG-ESHOP.CHANEL.COM.

Rawbought’s Daydream Collection Is A New Line Of Buttery-Soft Everyday Basics

Known best for their soft-as-butter pajamas and loungewear, Rawbought has recently launched their first-ever basics line, the Daydream collection, of everyday tops, bottoms and dresses made from the brand’s signature modal fabric in stylish and versatile colourways. How versatile, you ask? They’re starting us off with shades of black, white, and a cool oatmilk, neutral pieces indeed.

The three female founders of Rawbought, Soukaina, Boutaina and Amira Faruq are clearly excited about the launch, especially during a press event earlier this year where we got a sneak preview of the range. “We want everyone to look and feel their very best, whether they’re heading out or staying in. Every piece in the Daydream collection is thoughtfully designed with quality comfort, versatility and sustainability in mind, whilst not compromising on style,” they said about the collection.

Take a look for yourself:

[click on the images below to expand.]

True to their claim, the micromodal fabric used throughout the series indeed felt ultra-soft to our touch, while the pieces grace naturally over the silhouette when worn, clinging to all the right places.

Our favourite thing about the collection is the variety of basics within the collection — not only do they have Ribbed Tank Tops and V Neck Tees for casual days out, which can be elevated when paired right, the collection also includes tank dresses and long dresses as well that make us look dressed up with minimal effort. Certain designs also come in both men’s and women’s styles; take the Ribbed Fitted Henley Top for instance, an instant classic, and the Daydream Shorts.

The Ribbed Joggers, in particular, are a cosy option that’d technically count as loungewear, yet still qualify for something we’d wear out of the house. Small details such as a soft elastic waistband for comfort, subtle cuffs that cut off nicely at the ankles, pockets for essentials, and drawstrings with metal tips make the pants look good both dressed up and down. The best kind of wardrobe staples, really.

‘Drag Qabaret’ Joins Singapore’s Roster Of Live Drag Shows, With Famous Drag Queens, Live Singing And More

Drag shows in Singapore have been gaining momentum in recent years, thanks to the tremendous success of Rupaul’s Drag Race, and why ever not? We’ve got serious performers who are willing to commit to the craft, and willing audiences who appreciate the freedom of expression and cheeky live entertainment, or are simply in for a fun time — fact, it never gets boring when a drag queen’s around.

Enter, DRAG QABARET, this city’s latest drag show, which combines a star-studded line-up of gorgeous queens, comedic banter, and live singing! ‘QABARET: Repeal Yourself‘ will be held at the Projector X: Riverside on 26 August, 10pm, featuring performers Victoria Wondersnatch, Vanda Miss Joaquim, Clem De La Creme and more.

Image from: Drag Qabaret, July 2022.

In case you’re wondering: yes, live singing. Those familiar with the drag world wouldn’t typically associate it with drag performances — it is “lip sync for your life” after all — but we’re told that it’s an essential and unique element in the show.

Helmed by drag queen Victoria Wondersnatch, a self-professed musical theatre nerd, she tells us that the show’s format is inspired by piano bars in New York City, such as 54 Below, Birdland and the Duplex, famous cabaret or jazz clubs that delight in crowd sing-alongs. “I think it’s a form of entertainment that is not seen in Singapore at the moment, and of course, there is drag, and all live singing!”

Victoria Wondersnatched serving looks with this NDP-inspired look. More details on her outfit, here.

The first instalment of DRAG QABARET was held at Laughing Juice earlier in July, with a meaningful cause to raise funds for charity; the show ended up raising $20,000 for the Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) Program at Action for AIDS. Spurred on by its success, the performers then decided to make the show a monthly affair, while focusing on a particular theme each time.

The upcoming ‘QABARET: Repeal Yourself’ is the first in their line-up of themed drag shows, where they aim to tackle LGBTQ issues and pop culture in the midst of live singing and rambunctious entertainment, for “a show full of empowering and very gay songs to entertain”, says Wondersnatch. To up the ante of the live show factor, there will also be an open mike session where guests can come up on stage to sing their hearts out, followed by a dance party led by DJ Jack T who will spin songs of empowerment.

In fact, this couldn’t come at a more timely moment as Singapore is set to repeal Section 377A, a law that criminalises sex between men, which has been a contentious issue within the LGBTQ community in Singapore. We don’t yet know how the drag queens will adapt their performance in light of this recent news — but that should give us more reason to get our tickets to find out!

Image from: Wondersnatch’d, Dec 2018.
Image from: OktoberSNATCH, Oct 2019.

Here’s the full line-up of performers, and a little of what they’re known for:

  • VICTORIA WONDERSNATCH — musical theatre nerd and drag enthusiast, she will wondersnatch your wigs with outrageous looks, fantastic banter and comedy all night!
  • VANDA MISS JOAQUIM — Singapore’s star entry into Drag Race Thailand Season 2, and mother of the House of Miss Joaquim, Vanda also sings. Hear her sing at the Qabaret!
  • CLEM DE LA CREME  — Previously known as Layona, this winner of Drag Academy Season 3 is back with a new persona and drive for drag!
  • JEREK CHIP – Musical theatre and classically trained, Jerek blends pop, jazz and Broadway into his own distinct style, which he will bring to the Qabaret stage!
  • DIQ ENVY (GABBY) — Gender-fluid, young and hopeful, Diq/Gabby is excited to join the line-up of Qabaret to show off his musical theatre chops!
  • STEPH P — Is that a Disney princess in your pocket or are you happy to see me? We are whipping out this powerhouse straight ally for this Qabaret! Come hear her amazing vocals!

QABARET: Repeal Yourself will be held at the Projector X: Riverside on 26 August 2022, 10pm. Tickets sold separately or bundled, get your tickets here.

Look out for the next show, a jazz-themed one, set to be on 28 September!

Jo Malone London x Richard Quinn Features The Fashion Designer’s Maximalist Floral Prints

This one’s not for the faint-hearted, or those dedicated to the minimalist aesthetic. Fashion designer Richard Quinn leans towards rich floral fantasy in his design language, with a love for both Parisian haute couture and wallpaper-like English flower prints, an aesthetic now embraced by Jo Malone London in their latest collaboration.

The fragrance and lifestyle house has joined forces with Richard Quinn on a limited-edition series of scents and candles for the home, where we see the designer’s more-is-more florals blooming across products and other finishing touches, such as gift boxes and ribbons. The British fashion label was most recently awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design as well.

“We are both British-based brands and are interested in fantasy and florals, so it felt very natural,” says Quinn of the collaboration. “We tried to create a visual representation of the scents using different styles of print designs.”

As such, you’ll find a limited edition Tuberose Angelica Design Edition Ceramic Candle housed in a classy vessel of quaint blue roses, with a matching outer casing that features bright yellow blooms.

Tuberose Angelica Design Edition Ceramic Candle, $216.

For Jo Malone London’s popular scents, these are available as either ‘Fruity Floral’ or ‘Wild Flower’ candle pairs, with each duo arriving in romantic hat boxes that feature vintage-style floral prints.

The ‘Fruity Floral’ pair features the brand’s bestselling Peony & Blush Suede and English Pear & Freesia candles in a box of vivid blooms that stand out against a black backdrop, while the ‘Wild Flower’ series sees Honeysuckle & Davana and Wild Bluebell paired with more dainty cool-toned florals.

Peony & Blush Suede Design Edition Scented Liners complete the collection, perfect for those who are looking to add a touch of subtle fragrance to your drawers.

Design Edition Candle Duo – The Fruity Floral Pair – $240 ; Design Edition Candle Duo – The Wild Flower Pair – $240.

A special, limited edition Leica D-Lux 7 camera collab with A BATHING APE and American graffiti artist, STASH

Leica introduces a limited, special edition compact camera based off their popular D-Lux 7 model, the Leica D-Lux 7 “A BATHING APE®︎ X STASH”. This model is a culmination of street photography, streetwear and street art, and is offered in a black-finish variant that will retail at Leica stores, and a silver version that’s available exclusively through A BATHING APE®︎.

The camera is wrapped with BAPE’s signature ABC CAMO pattern, with the brand’s APE HEAD insignia on its top plate. It’s also marked with the distinctive wildstyle tag of American graffiti artist, STASH (aka Josh Franklin) on the front.

“When I started doing graffiti in the early 1980s, the term ‘street art’ didn’t exist. It was only later, when we emerged from the tunnels and train stations, that we became much more visible. Documenting my art through photography has always been part of my creativity. With the advent of digital cameras, I got my first Leica,” says STASH, on this collaboration with Leica and BAPE.

When designing this special edition of the Leica D-Lux 7, the Brooklyn-based artist incorporated both the famously graphic-heavy style of the BAPE® label, and his own distinctive visual approach. See all the official pics below.

The Coach ‘Coachies’ Collection Sees Fun Personalities On Leather Bags And Card Cases

Are you aware of the unique phenomenon where you start seeing faces in inanimate objects? Nope, it’s not weird at all; face pareidolia is a more common occurrence than you’d think, and if it looks like you’ve just spotted a familiar face or two on these Coach bags… rest assured, we see them too.

In fact, the Coachies collection sees limited edition Rouge 17 bags designed with various expressions and faces that reflect different personalities — which you can pick according to your mood of the day.

Sweetie, for instance, is a saccharine and loyal cutie complete with pink blush on their cheeks, Winkie is a more playful character with a flirty edge, while wide-eyed Sparkie appears to be the peppy leader of the bunch. For more subdued vibes, there’s also the free-spirited Groovie, in pine green and with belt buckles for eyes, as well as our personal favourite personality, Dreamie, who is “savvy, confident, slightly sarcastic”, droopy eyes and raised brows included.

[click on the images below to expand, and for more info.]

Love them or hate them? We can’t run away from the thought that these seem to be more affordable alternatives to the famous Hermès Kelly Doll, though the Coachies are undeniably cute. What’s more, the tote bag styles are crafted from buttery-soft glovetanned leather and their Signature Textile Jacquard, an eco-conscious material that’s made from a blend of organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles.

You’ll be able to spot classic Coach details such as the turnlocks and tassels, done with a twist — the tassels now form a swish of hair for our fun new friends, polished rivets and grommets appear on leather panels as eyes, while the zipper tab, hangtag, and key hood form hands and legs that extend from the body of the bags.

The Coachies collection also features two other limited edition accessories: the Kira Crossbody, a sleek style with two zippered compartments that has just enough room for your everyday essentials, and Card Cases that still allow you to express your personality on your, this time, wallet.

PRISM+ Is The First Local Brand to Launch A Smart Air Conditioner, The PRISM+ Zero Series

Singapore is well-known for most things, including a budding tech industry,  especially since many homegrown tech brands are out to prove their innovative prowess. As if we aren’t already impressed with their line-up of affordable monitors and TVs, PRISM+ is once again looking to push the limits of what they can offer with the launch of its all-new smart air conditioner line-up — the PRISM+ Zero Series.

As the first local brand to launch its own smart air conditioner, the PRISM+ Zero Series will feature three indoor unit models — the PRFZ09, PRFZ12, and PRFZ18 (from $2,199) — each with cooling capacities of 9,212 btu/h, 12,010 but/h and 18,010 but/h respectively. Alongside the indoor units, you’ll also be able to find two outdoor compressor models, the PRCZ28 and PRCZ36, each equally capable of supporting the varying indoor unit combinations.

The series will also add another unit, the PRFZ24, in September which will feature a cooling capacity of 24,200 btu/h.

Each PRISM+ Zero air conditioner system comes equipped with energy-saving and environmentally friendly features such as the eco-friendly R32 refrigerant for minimal negative impact on the environment, inverter technology to help maintain constant temperatures more efficiently, and the brand’s very own Obsidian Seal Technology — a five-layer coating that includes anti-bacterial and anti-corrosive materials to make the unit resistant to corrosion, heat and UV rays.

It also comes with an NEA Certified Energy Rating of five ticks.

SMART HOME INTEGRATION

With most of us transforming our living space into a smart home, it is important to ensure that our air conditioner works well within our smart ecosystem. As such, alongside the debut of their smart air conditioners, PRISM+ will also launch PRISM+ Connect, a smartphone app designed for home automation.

Developed after months of research and testing, the app not only offers Google Assistant integration to enable voice control, but also other features such as geolocation settings, maintenance reminders, direct bookings for aircon servicing, the ability to set routines for your lifestyle, insights to monitor your usage frequency, as well as the function of a digital remote (in addition to the separate physical remote) which allows you to control your device wherever you are.

EXTENSIVE WARRANTY WITH AN IN-HOUSE SERVICING TEAM

When investing in a new air conditioner, servicing and maintenance will always remain one of the primary concerns. PRISM+ supports the most comprehensive warranty for their air conditioners with one-year coverage for all units and an extended 8-year warranty when you opt for quarterly servicing with the brand. The warranty is applicable on both indoor units and outdoor compressors and covers all electrical and mechanical faults including compressor components such as the PCB board.

Servicing for the air conditioners is done by an in-house team of experienced aircon technicians and installation experts so you don’t have to worry about having to consult an external team for assistance.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The PRISM+ Zero Series is priced from $2,199 for a system 2, from $2,599 for a system 3, and from $3,299 for a system 4 and is available for purchase online here. You can get up to $500 off when you pay through the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) feature on Atome, Grab, and Pace.

Dior Takes On Alluring Red Hues For Their Fall Makeup Collection

Dior invites us to ponder over the colour red for their Fall makeup collection, featuring different tones of a deep red that allows for us to express our reflections, or, according to Peter Philips, “show this palette of emotions based on red”, whether it’s joy, sensuality, suggestiveness, passion or power. Indeed, red is interpreted in many ways by the atelier’s Creative and Image Director, as he gives us more of the alluring shade across eyeshadow palettes, nail polishes, and the iconic Rouge Dior lipsticks.

Of these, we’re most impressed by the 5 Couleurs Couture palettes, seasonal staples surely, though these arrive with a typographic motif where the word ‘DIOR’ is boldly mirrored on the creamy powder texture of the eyeshadows. The typical Fall colours of red, orange and copper are given a fresh twist despite their richer hues, across two shades.

‘Mirror Mirror’ builds around a pearlescent bronze with golden yellow, matte brown, and an interesting golden khaki; whereas ‘Reflexion’ sees burgundy red in the centre, surrounded by satin beige, orange-bronze, rosewood and a golden brown. Then, match the look with the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara in a brick red shade that give your eyes more dimension and intrigue.

Even more red is seen on the Rouge Dior lipsticks, in three new shades of a satin-finish Dusty Coral, matte Rosewoodrose, and Redred, a deep red with a sensual velvet finish. Though we love Philips’ take on all these shades — a special shoutout for that more toned-down coral — Rosewoodrose has to be one of the better pairings of muted rose and a warm, woody brown, for ultra-flattering lips.

The new Dior Vernis correspond with the newly-introduced Rouge Dior shades of Rosewoodrose and Redred, giving your nails a matchy-matchy look and a glamorous shine. Unique to the collection is also a limited-edition Crème Abricot strengthening nail care cream, dressed up with the initials of Christian Dior in a brick red case.

See Valentino’s PINK PP Campaign Starring Zendaya And Lewis Hamilton

Think pink. Barbiecore is having a moment these days, and Valentino seems to be the clear frontrunner of this movement that’s all about embracing vibrant pink hues, thanks to their PINK PP collection.

The world set up and gasped, alright, when Pierpaolo Piccioli turned Paris pink at the debut of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collection, featuring just two colours on the runway: black, and a shocking pink, which we collectively fell in love with. And here’s what makes that better — the announcement of Euphoria actress Zendaya and Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton fronting the campaign.

PINK PP is “the colour of love, community, energy and freedom”, according to Valentino, an abstract idea that goes beyond just the hue, and an expression of a feeling that you can own.

Zendaya’s campaign series was shot by photographer Micheal Bailey Gates in a monochromatic pink space, meant to act as a neutral shade that goes beyond its feminine associations, thus symbolising freedom. It’s not the first time Zendaya has worked with Valentino, and here, she shows us once again why she’s the perfect spokesperson for the brand; her youthful and energetic vibe shines through the pink, while the multi-talented artiste’s authenticity constantly draws younger audiences to everything she does and stands for.

For Hamilton, it’s his individuality and fierce advocacy that the brand loves, especially since he’s considered one of the most successful drivers in Formula One. His campaign series was shot by photographer Nicolas Kern, in an intimate pink set with a handwritten manifesto on the wall, and Hamilton in a reflective pose.

See more from the Valentino’s runway debut, ahead.
