The New G-SHOCK Gold Chain Arrives With A Patterned Dial And Additional Watch Bands

A watch is often a key indicator of one’s taste, and if that’s the case, this new G-SHOCK ought to impress. Serving plenty of drip, the G-SHOCK Gold Chain DWE-5600HG-1DR is a gold and black design inspired by hip-hop culture, with a chain pattern right on the dial. This distinct pattern is made to be metallic, just like the gold watch band and bezel, such that it shows up only when the light hits it right.

Furthermore, the watch arrives with two colour replacement bands and bezels that you can easily switch up to match your outfits. A black design is sleek and understated, while a semi-transparent band and bezel feel incredibly modern, futuristic even.

The shock-resistant watch also features a couple of standard G-SHOCK functions, such as an EL backlight to read time in a dark place and 200-meter water resistance, as well as a stopwatch and a countdown timer.

The G-SHOCK Gold Chain DWE-5600HG-1DR will be available at G-SHOCK from 15 July 2022 for CASIO ID members.

Samsung and Local Photographers Come Together For a Curated Photo Exhibition Showcasing SG at Night

There’s always something special about the night especially when you’re in Singapore, home of the F1 night race. As an inspiration to us all to experience the beauty of the night our little red dot has to offer, Samsung Singapore is holding a curated exhibition titled Sleepless in SG that features photos captured using a Samsung device and #withGalaxy.
.

The exhibition will be held at the ION Art Gallery at ION Orchard from 8 to 22 July and features a collection of over 70 photos from local photographers, content creators as well as users who submitted their entries to give a different perspective of Singapore in the night.

You will also get to see a series of shots curated by Kevin Ong (@kevouthere), Mindy Tan (@mindytanphoto), Qi Hao (@qhventures), and renowned commercial Singapore photographer Geoff Ang.

[CLICK ON THE IMAGES BELOW TO EXPAND.]
.

Each photo captures Singapore at night, which invokes a sense of curiosity and wonder of our island-city, especially during the darkest moments in the evening.

Some of the devices used include the Galaxy S22 Series 5G and its Nightography feature, which is powered by a large sensor and Adaptive Pixel technology to allow the camera to let in more light, draw out more details, and capture more colours so that the photos pop, even in the dark.

The Samsung Singapore Sleepless in SG photo exhibition is held from 8 to 22 July 2022 at ION Art Gallery, Level 4, ION Orchard. Admission is free. For more information, click HERE.

The Most Highly-Rated Skin Tints And Tinted Moisturisers For Natural Skin-Like Skin

If we’re talking about the famous “clean girl” aesthetic, eternally chic but especially so on our social media feeds these days, then it’s not just your lips that have to be better — it’s your skin too. Not without a little help though.

“My skin but better” is the goal here, and we’re letting our base makeup do the talking. Instead of piling on, or worse, slathering on, a whole chunk of foundation though, picking up a skin tint or tinted moisturiser is the way to go to achieve that subtle, natural look.

FENTY BEAUTY EAZE DROP.

These tinted formulas effortlessly grace the skin with their lightweight textures, and yet, seem to magically do the work of blurring pores and evening out skin tones without covering up one’s naturally beautiful skin, freckles and all. Your natural skin’s enhanced just enough that there’s still a radiant sheen. It’s all about that dewy texture and light, fresh-faced coverage here.

Most of the good ones are also infused with skincare actives and UV protection, which care for the skin while having the added benefit of having makeup last longer, since skin is well-hydrated underneath. Some of our favourites include Fenty Beauty’s Eaze Drop and Pixi’s H20 Tint for their sheer and natural finish, while you’ll find a list of our top recommendations below.

HERMÈS PLEIN AIR.

Just a couple of tips before you embark on your hunt for the perfect tint. These are medium coverage at best — and as they should be — so if you’re looking for a more flawless look, try topping up with concealer on spots you want to hide.

Many of the tinted products are also water-based formulas in order to deliver on that lightweight textures we love; so just a note if you’re going in with an oil-based primer and finding them piling. You don’t really have to though, since they’re made to be as unfussy as possible. To use, simply blend out with your fingers or use a brush on bare skin, right after your sunscreen step.

Lastly, embrace your skin, even if there might be freckles, pigmentation or blemishes; these skin tints are here to enhance, not cover up!

Here are some beloved formulas you can try:

Mighty Jaxx Launches A Vecna Vinyl Toy, Part Of Their ‘Stranger Things 4’ Collection

What better news to wake up to than this. Singapore-based designer toy company Mighty Jaxx, known for their anatomical dissections series with artist Jason Freeny, have just announced an upcoming new collection for pop culture phenomenon and Netflix series, Stranger Things 4. Perfect if your current FYP’s flooded with Stranger Things content — we feel ya.

The first drop in the series will be launching 9 July, and is an 8″ vinyl art toy of Vecna, the Upside Down’s most menacing baddie this season, complete with stunning details that capture the creepy lore of the character. We’ll try not to spoil too much of the “much darker” season while talking about this, but you’ve been warned.

Mighty Jaxx’s interpretation of Vecna sees a detachable 5″ figure sculpted to resemble his wet and squelchy skin, in a stance that shows he’s ready to prey on his next victim. One arm is extended, as a reference to Vecna’s striking pose, while hardcore fans would appreciate the secret detail hidden on his wrist.

The figure stands on a 3″ set base rife with other finer details, such as the grandfather clock and door frame from the Creel House, and intertwined vines that depict the hive mind of the Upside Down.

Once again, this is only the first of a Stranger Things 4 collection, with more releases that will be released later this year. If you’ve been absolutely possessed by Vecna’s deliciously evil growl though, come 9 July, don’t walk — run.

The Vecna Series 4 collectible, $159, part of the Mighty Jaxx x Stranger Things 4 collection. Available on MightyJaxx.com from 9 July 2022.

These CHARLES & KEITH x Singapore Airlines Accessories Are Made From Upcycled Business Class Seats

Two stellar Singapore brands are now collaborating for a limited-edition collection of bags and small leather goods — and this one’s a truly interesting sustainable series using too. CHARLES & KEITH have teamed up with Singapore Airlines for accessories fashioned from upcycled Business Class seats, cushion covers, and other fabrics. These will be launching on 8 August, just in time for us to #supportlocal during this year’s National Day.

The capsule collection sees two key items: the Philomena, a semi-circle crossbody bag, and Brielle, a panelled short wallet. Both are popular designs now re-issued and made with upcycled materials from retired aircrafts. The brown, brick and camel leather come from SIA’s Business Class seats; fabrics from cushion covers and bedsheets are used to line the bag and wallet as well, while blankets have been repurposed into dustbags for these leather items.

Each of the pieces are unique, and come stamped with both brands’ logos on the inside. To showcase the launch, Singapore Airlines will also be hosting a pop-up at Design Orchard from 6 July 2022 – 18 August 2022, so you can see and feel the accessories in-person!

Here’s a closer look at them:

The Philomena boasts a sleek crescent-shaped design, and is made from quilted leather upcycled from Business Class seats. Paired with gold-toned hardware and a chain, you can opt to carry it on your shoulder or sling it across your frame.

CHARLES & KEITH x Singapore Airlines: Philomena Upcycled Leather Crossbody Bag in Brown/Camel/Brick, $189.

For the Brielle wallet, it’s adorned with gold-toned hardware and a minimalist rectangle closure. Choose from brown or camel neutrals, or a slightly less subtle brick shade.

CHARLES & KEITH x Singapore Airlines: Brielle Upcycled Leather Wallet in Brown/Camel/Brick, $99.

The limited-edition collection CHARLES & KEITH x Singapore Airlines will be available from 8 August 2022 on CHARLES & KEITH and Singapore Airlines.

Turn your bathtime into an indulgent affair with these pampering toiletries

Sometimes when you’re feeling sad, all you need is a spa session in your own bathroom, and one of these luxurious scents will be sure to lift your spirits. Here are our current picks to get into that happy space.

CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE FOAMING SHOWER GEL

Above: CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE FOAMING SHOWER GEL, $80 (200ml) from SG-ESHOP.CHANEL.COM.

When your shower gel smells of COCO MADEMOISELLE, you know you’re living the life. This small luxury is light in texture and lathers into a delightful foam when it comes into contact with water. It wraps skin in the iconic feminine oriental scent that is full of personality and surprisingly fresh. A little goes a long way, so this 200ml bottle will actually last for many wonderful baths.

PENHALIGON’S THE FAVOURITE BODY & HAND LOTION AND WASH

ABOVE: PENHALIGON’S THE FAVOURITE BODY & HAND LOTION (LEFT, $89 for 300ml) AND WASH (RIGHT, $69 for 300ml), available from penhaligon’s boutiques.

It’s easy to see why this scent is called The Favourite; it’s a floral woody musk that’s universally pleasing, with key notes of golden mimosa, Mandarin, violet leaf and bergamot. This combination of a hand soap and lotion will delight you each time you wash your hands, plus it’ll just scream “good taste” to any visiting guest.

DIOR LUCKY LIQUID HAND SOAP

Above: Dior Lucky Liquid Hand Soap, $98 (350ml), from SHOP.DIOR.COM.SG.

The Lucky scent from Christian Dior came about from the designer’s penchant for being superstitious. He would stitch a stem of Lily Of The Valley into the seam of his dresses for good luck, and Dior’s Perfumer was inspired by this and so created the Lucky fragrance around this favourite flower.

This liquid soap version is delicately scented with the Lucky fragrance, and creates a full lather that envelopes skin in softness and comfort. The bottle is very pretty too.

LOEWE LIQUORICE BAR SOAP

Above: Loewe Liquorice bar soap, US$56.44 (298g), from NET-A-PORTER.COM.

If there’s ever a soap that is stunning, it would be this one from LOEWE. It’s a beautiful, stark black block of soap, that’s debossed with the LOEWE logo and threaded onto a rope cord. It’s super chic, and best of all, smells heavenly. Just hanging this in the bathroom will scent the whole room with the rich aroma of nature’s sweet root.

ORIBE BODY & FRAGRANCE COLLECTION

Above: (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT) Oribe VALLEY OF FLOWERS EDP, $176 (75ML), Côte d’Azur EDP, $176 (75ML), DESERTLAND REPLENISHING BODY WASH, $68 (300ML), DESERTLAND RESTORATIVE BODY CRÈME, $92 (300ML). available at Oribe salons and retailers.

Oribe is well-known for their high performance hair care collection, and also their signature scent, Côte d’Azur, and now the brand has expanded into a body and fragrance line that includes a decadent body wash and lotion. These come in three fragrances: the iconic Côte d’Azur, and two new scents, Valley of Flowers and Desertland.

We love the Desertland products that smell… green. Like the bottle. It’s a comforting scent of being out in nature, and feeling at peace at the end of a stressful day. The notes include bright, crisp notes of juniper berry, desert wildflowers and Texas cedarwood.

Lululemon Now Has A Hike Collection Of Functional, Adaptable Gear For All Kinds Of Environments

If you’re already a firm believer of their magical leggings and sports bras, here’s another collection that caters to our niche hobbies. First tennis, now hiking. Lululemon takes athleisure to a whole new level, with performance gear designed for all-terrain, outdoor hiking.

A new category for the sportswear brand, they’re introducing a formidable 33-piece series of men’s and women’s items, of adaptable gear that’s suitable for all kinds of environments, while banking on their quick-drying and sweat-wicking technology to go up against climate changes and humidity while on the trail.

The functional aspect of Lululemon Hike extends to convertible wear — sleeves or hoods can be zipped on or off, for instance, depending on your surroundings, and a Convertible Hiking Pant can be easily transformed to shorts halfway through the hike. There are pockets everywhere too, on jackets, shorts and pants to keep all your essential tools close to you, or specific details such as a d-ring for carabiner clips on the Hiking Jogger.

Special attention is also paid to design that moves comfortably as you traverse across rough terrain; this includes stretchable wear, and abrasion-resistant seams that reduce friction for a chafe-free climb. These keen design elements, as well as fully waterproof fabrics and packable items, help set Hike apart from other sports gear.

Some highlights include a Waterproof Hiking Half-Zip Pullover that you can slip on during rainy weather to keep you dry, made with waterproof and windproof yet breathable Glyde™ fabric that will brave us through the humidity. There’s also a Convertible Ripstop Hiking Jacket that’s super lightweight with a stowable hood, and strategically-placed vents for breathability; a nifty detail though is a built-in shoulder bag that zips right into the front of the jacket.

For bottoms and innerwear, try the hike-to-swim bras and hiking shorts, which dry fast and even feature chlorine and salt resistance should you be taking a quick dip in lakes or rivers. The men might want to layer chic Anoraks and Vests over their sweat-wicking t-shirts too.

You may also layer on accessories — a cap or bucket hat made of lightweight ripstop fabric, or a Front Clip Backpack with plenty of pockets and a cinch closure for easy access. A 25L LiftOS™ Hiking Backpack makes for the ultimate weekend companion though, as the technology helps recalibrate weight distribution and relieves pressure points so you’ll feel raring to go.

An earthy colour palette of brown, granite and sage green is almost a given at this point, though the brand further nails the hiker-chic aesthetic with plenty of purple and pops of neon green, or ripple patterns that artistically complement the rough-and-tough aesthetic. This one’s for those who want to look chic and feel thoroughly comfortable.

Air New Zealand’s New Cabins Will Give You Good Sleep While Up In The Air — Even In Economy Class

We all know the woes of trying to stay comfortable on a flight. Keyword: trying. Not everyone’s blessed with the ability to sleep on command, no matter how much we need the sleep to adjust to new timezones, which is why Air New Zealand‘s upcoming Dreamliners aim to provide the best sleep in the sky — even for Economy travellers.

The airline will be introducing a new Business Premier Luxe seat, meant for frequent flyers looking for the ultimate space and privacy, as well as Skynest, the world’s first airplane sleep pods, available to Economy passengers. You’ll now be able to enjoy the experience of sleeping on board, in order to wake up fresh at your destination, and ready to start on your holiday (or, you know, a day of business meetings). These will be rolled out across eight of the airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, arriving from 2024.

Economy Skynest.

Five years in the making, these new initiatives were implemented as Air New Zealand recognises their unique position in ultra-longhaul flights, and after customer research that highlighted the need for good sleep onboard planes.

The Skynest concept was, in fact, first announced in 2020, and offers “Economy customers a lie-flat option” — definitely a rarity for those who often fly coach, which is most of us anyway. Gone are the days of fighting for legroom or a contorting your body to effectively stretch your limbs.

Economy Skynest.
Business Premier Luxe.

To further the sleeping experience, Air New Zealand also provides meditative onscreen content to help us unwind, along with a Sky Pantry for Premium Economy and Economy cabins, to offer passengers a chance to stretch their legs and grab a bite or drink while at it.

You may find the new services on board eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, arriving from 2024, and retrofitted planes from their current 787-9 fleet. These will feature either eight or four Business Premier Luxe seats, 42 or 22 Business Premier, 52 or 33 Premium Economy, 125 or 213 Economy seats, and specifically on the ultra-longhaul aircraft, six Skynest sleep pods.

Here are the types of cabins available to Air New Zealand passengers:

:

  • Business Premier Luxe — promising “the best sleep in the sky”, the new luxurious offering is for customers looking for the ultimate space and privacy; comes with a fully closing door and a dining space for two.

  • Business Premier — a comfortable and private nest for good sleep; the middle row also opens up to share your space if you’re travelling with company.

  • Premium Economy — a step-up from the Economy class, this new seat offers more privacy and protected space.

  • Economy Skynest — a haven for Economy passengers, these sleep pods allow passengers to stretch out in one of six pods for part of their journey, for some much-needed rest.

  • Economy Skycouch — you can sit, spread out, or lie down for a nap; those traveling with young children can opt to share their seats for a more comfortable journey.

  • Economy Stretch — for those who want to rest and stretch their legs further than the regular Economy seat.

  • Economy seat — for Economy passengers; an enhanced seat does offer more storage, comfort and space and a 50% bigger screen too.

Levi’s Taps Into Old-School Denim Styles For Their ‘Archives Reinvented’ Fall Winter 2022 Collection

By now, you should be well aware that skinny jeans, the pride of millennials and the reigning silhouette for beyond a decade, have been unceremoniously dethroned. So what’s left in its wake? More forgiving baggy cuts and relaxed denim, which Levi’s® is all about this season — not that these were ever out of style though.

The denim brand turns towards the past for inspiration, particularly for this “Archives Reinvented” Fall/Winter 2022 collection, which touches on popular and old-school Levi’s® fits and styles of the ‘80s, ‘90s, and early 2000s. The materials, techniques, texture, and silhouettes are definitely updated for a modern wardrobe though, so rest assured, you’ll be able to flaunt these fresh cuts without having to dig too deep into your mom’s closet.

[click on the images below to expand.]

For women, these’s a new companion to the mom jean — the Baggy Dad, a mid-rise cut that rests on the hips, while featuring a looser seat with a slight tapered leg. There’s also the Baggy Boot, which features a similar top block and loose seat style, but with a leg that is loose all the way down to the hem.

LEVI’S® BAGGY DAD HOLD MY PURSE, $129.90 ; LEVI’S® BAGGY DAD Z5993 MEDIUM INDIGO DESTRUCTED, $129.90.

Borrowing again from the boys is also the new Dad Utility, which features a looser fit, but this time, with a straight leg inspired by classic carpenter pants. If you like your high-rise cuts though, Levi’s® does an old-school take on the 80s Mom jean, with a cut that sits high on the waist, has a loose fit, and a tapered hem.

LEVI’S® 551Z AUTHENTIC STRAIGHT GOTTA GET HOME, $129.90 ; LEVI’S® 551Z AUTHENTIC STRAIGHT RINSE AND TURN UP, $99.90 ; LEVI’S® 551Z AUTHENTIC STRAIGHT Z0887 LIGHT INDIGO WORN IN, $149.90.

The men, on the other hand, can enjoy straighter cuts and more relaxed fits, whether that includes classics such as the 501® Original or more modern interpretations. This season though, look out for the 50s Straight, unique for its wider leg that’s straight out of the 50s era, though with 80s-cool.

Then, there are also tapered styles within their line-up, including the popular Stay Baggy and Stay Loose jeans, as well as the 501® Taper, a tapered-leg version of the Levi’s® classic.

Methods that really work to clear acne and an unwanted breakout, from prevention to correction

You’re probably asking yourself why you’re breaking out now. Perhaps you spend most of your time at home but you’re getting random pimples; or maybe you’re shuffling between home and office and putting on a mask daily, and that’s aggravating your skin. Or for us girls, it’s just that time of the month. Clearing an unwanted bout of acne always becomes our life priority once we see that first spot, and you’ve probably tried dozens of methods to do so. And if you’re reading this, those methods likely don’t work. These here are tried and tested ways to clear pimples fast and safely. There’s probably a tip below you haven’t tried or heard of, so read on; maybe you’ll find something that actually works for you.

First line of defence: 111SKIN 3 Phase Anti Blemish Booster

Since I discovered the brand 111SKIN, I’ve always felt that their skincare is underrated. They have some really potent products and the one I’m always going on about is this Anti Blemish Booster. It prevents breakouts and flare-ups by regulating sebum production, and it repairs broken skin, which is great for existing spots. I once recommended it to the model, Fiona Fussi before a CHANEL press trip because she had a few emerging spots, and it worked for her almost overnight. By the time it came to our NYLON photoshoot with her (around 2 days later), her skin was clear. No doubt this little bottle is on the pricey side, it’s worth it if you’ve tried everything under the sun to combat your breakout and still refuse to see a dermatologist.

111SKIN 3 Phase Anti Blemish Booster, priced at $175 (20ml). Currently sold out at TANGS, but on sale at Metro for $148.75! Nice surprise.

Maintenance and cure: mySKINBAR The Crux

Here’s another product that actually works on breakouts and that not many people know about. It’s from local skincare brand, mySKINBAR and called The Crux. It’s a spot treatment that kills acne-causing bacteria and Demodex mites that the brand says are living on our faces. That’s not something we really want to think about, but apparently they’re in our pores.

What’s particularly great about this product is that it dries clear so it can be worn under makeup, and it has a minty, cooling sensation so calms skin and any inflammation.

I’ve recommended this to a friend who was having a hormonal breakout and she said she’s grown quite fond of it and is using it on a daily basis now. I take that to mean that it’s working for her.

The Crux comes in two textures — a cream and a gel; both do the same thing, it’s just preference.

The Crux, from $18 for 5ml to $119 for 50ml, available from myskinbar.com and Shopee.

For post-blemish pigmentation and dark spots: Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment

This treatment cream is excellent for preventing and reducing pigmentation and dark spots. It’s formulated with a purified grade lactic acid that does instant exfoliation, and this results in instantly brighter, clearer and fresher-looking skin. Use this at night before your moisturiser — and when you wake up in the morning, you’ll see a difference to your face; your skin will look better and revived, almost like magic.

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment, $136 for 30ml, available from SEPHORA.SG.

For popped pimples: Welly Face Saver Hydrocolloid Clear Spot Bandages

These are transparent stickers that you place on a popped pimple or open blemish, to create a hygienic, sterile environment for it to heal. They are fairly transparent on the face, so you can wear them out and during the day, but I’d recommend wearing them overnight while you sleep for best results. These bandages “suck up” the pus in your wound, which will make the bump flatter. I always have a box of these on standby because they help pimples heal so much quicker.

Welly Face Saver Hydrocolloid Clear Spot Bandages, $27.08 for a pack of 72, from AMAZON.SG.

To heal broken skin: DrGL. Skin Repair

Some years back I visited Dr Georgia Lee for help with my skin. I just kept getting breakouts that particular year and the kind with broken skin. The doctor introduced me to this little bottle from her skincare brand, DrGL.; it’s an elixir with a healing and repairing formula that stimulates cellular regeneration. And it was a miracle… it made my skin heal so much faster — as fast as one to two days for some wounds. It’s no doubt pricey, but sometimes good skin and miracles come at a cost. I now stock up a bottle of this in my beauty cabinet for emergencies.

Dr.GL Skin Repair, $118 for 10ml. Available at DRGL.COM.

When it’s itchy, red or inflamed: Mopiko

We learned from Mom to associate this minty cream with mosquito bites and the relief of itch caused by these bites. But the packaging says it’s good for so much more: it is suitable for — “Relief of itch. Bites by mosquitoes, lice, bedbugs, bees or other insects. Irritation after shaving. Headaches. Pimples. Muscle fatigue due to exercise. Moisturise the skin. Minor burns or abrasion.”

Yes, the ubiquitous Mopiko is actually really, really good for pimples. The active ingredients include menthol (has a cooling and pain killing effect), camphor (calms skin, relieves pain, irritation and itching) and methyl salicylate (derived from salicylic acid). When applied on pimples, it relieves the itchiness (so you don’t keep touching or worse, scratching it), and calms the skin down so it’s not as angry and inflamed.

I use this often and on any zits that I feel are starting to make an appearance on my skin. It squashes them down within an hour and stops them from getting bigger and worse. Do note not to use this near the eye area because of the minty fumes — they’ll make the eyes water, and definitely avoid areas with wounds or broken skin, because it will sting!

Mopiko, priced at $3.70 for a 20g tube is available at any pharmacy or supermarket, including Guardian and Watsons.

The evergreen staple: The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a time-honoured remedy for blemishes; it naturally purifies skin, and balances oiliness in the skin, which results in less breakouts. The Body Shop’s version is the OG for this product and we love that theirs is sustainably sourced in Kenya. To use, just pat on or rub 1-2 drops into skin. It’ll kill those nasty germs causing that breakout.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil, $23 for 10ml, available from THEBODYSHOP.COM.

To conceal: clé de peau beauté Concealer

Sometimes as much as we try to prevent or combat blemishes, they still appear red and raw on our faces, and that’s where concealer comes in. This stick of concealer cream from clé de peau beauté is really the best you can get; it glides on smoothly and covers over any blemish like a second skin. It corrects redness (or any other shade that’s not your skin colour), reduces the appearance of pores so skin looks smoother and more even, and can be used to patch up larger areas (like pigmentation) or to concentrate on a spot (eg. pimples).

This makeup product has been part of my beauty wardrobe for more than a decade and I always say, if there’s one makeup item to splurge on, it is this life-changing concealer.

clé de peau beauté Concealer, $105 from SEPHORA.SG.

Dyson’s cordless vacuums are still one of the hottest commodities around — ask any millennial who’s suddenly very into home appliances — so it’s surely a thing of note when the brand launches their most powerful and intelligent vacuum yet, the Dyson V15 Detect.

This flagship model arrives with 240AW suction power, laser dust detection, real-time data, advanced filtration technologies, and even a high-efficiency particulate absorbing (HEPA) filter for its higher-end model.

Along with the launch, Dyson also announces new attachments that are backward-compatible with existing Dyson models, including a Pet Groom Tool that’s meant to be a saviour for pet parents. Then, there’s a Scratch-Free Dusting Brush for appliances and delicate furniture, and an Awkward Gap Tool for, well, awkward corners and tight gaps.

All in all, the aim is to make your entire home cleaner than ever before, free from fur, hair, and dust — a thorough deep-clean that’s all for a healthy home environment, germaphobe or not. The advanced functions also makes the V15 Detect suitable for homes with pets. Here’s a look at each of the launches:

THE DYSON V15 DETECT

The first thing you ought to know about a Dyson cordless vacuum is its versatility. Since it’s cordless, you’re free to use it at any part of the house, sans cumbersome wires, while the V15 Detect promises up to 60 minutes of run time once dismounted from its charging dock. Suction power-wise, the Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor generates 240AW of powerful suction for a satisfying clean.

It’s also detachable, so you can default to the original cleaner head and ergonomic aluminium wand for comfortable floor and carpet cleaning, or convert it to a handheld vacuum for sofas, mattresses, and stairs. A host of other Dyson-engineered attachments also cater to various specialised functions.

Filtration

Now for the new technology. The Dyson V15 Detect’s 5-stage advanced filtration technologies are able to capture 99.99% of particles, those as small as 0.3 microns. That covers dust, fine sand, dust mites, microscopic dust, and skin flakes — some of these might trigger allergies, asthma, or skin reactions.

A fully-sealed system ensures these don’t escape from the machine, and a cyclone technology within the bin uses centrifugal technology to separate dust and dirt from the airflow for smoother suction.

If you’re looking for something even more thorough though, there’s the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute (HEPA), a gold and teal model exclusive to their direct channels. With whole machine HEPA filtration, ultra-fine particles down to 0.1 microns — particles the size of allergens and pollen — can be taken care of, including pet dander and other nasties, making this model their most hygienic vacuum yet.

Laser Dust Detection

This one’s a game-changer for people obsessed with dust-free homes. First introduced with the Dyson V12 Detect Slim, a precisely-angled laser integrated right into the cleaner head reveals invisible particles, those which we normally don’t see. They’ve chosen a green laser diode on the Slim Fluffy cleaner head for the best contrast too, so we can efficiently remove these particles without worrying if we’ve missed a spot. Read more about it in our review here.

Piezo Sensor

This one’s another smart technology that offers real-time data of your cleaning, while the vacuum itself automatically adjusts to dust levels . An acoustic piezo sensor is fitted into the vacuum in order to detect vibrations caused by the dust; this is then translated into actual data of dust size and quantity shown on the in-built LCD screen. When the vacuum comes across high concentrations of dust, it’s able to react with higher suction power to cope with the demand, and then revert back to its previous mode when dust levels normalise.

Advanced de-tangling brush bar technology

It’s not just power and smarts, a good vacuum is also about using the right tools for the right purposes. Whether you’ve got pets or are just sick of seeing hair strands being stuck at your vacuum head, know that the Dyson V15 Detect has incorporated a new brush bar technology designed to tackle all hair. The hair screw tool sucks up hair fast, with hair removal vanes that automatically clear hair from the brush bar as you clean, helping to deal with troublesome tangles.

THE ATTACHMENTS

Pet Groom Tool

Made for our furry friends, the Pet Grooming Kit ($99) caters specifically to pet hair, pet dander and microscopic skin flakes, which may carry pollen and other allergens around our homes. The new tool is compatible with any of Dyson’s cordless vacuums, and contains 364 bristles angled at a comfortable 35° angle that flexes as you brush your pet.

A demonstration at the Dyson Headquarters showed that you’re supposed to gently comb your pet’s coat to let the bristles capture loose hairs, then turn on the suction power to agitate them so they disappear into the main body.

Scratch-Free Dusting Brush

Made for screens, appliances and gadgets, or any of your furniture that’s too precious for a vacuum’s regular cleaning head, Dyson’s Scratch-Free Dusting Brush comes with fine and soft bristles that differentiate it from traditional coarse bristles used to agitate dirt. The goal is to clean well, without scratching the surface it’s cleaning on. This one comes with 8,100 ultra-fine and densely-packed Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) polymer filaments, a material inspired by fine paint and makeup brushes. When you’re done, simply rotate the cuff so dust and debris can be easily removed from the bristles without having to pick them out.

Awkward Gap Tool

Flexible enough to bend around corners, yet rigid enough to hold shape in order to not lose its suction efficiency, the Awkward Gap Tool twists at an ideal 22°, which Dyson has deduced is the optimum angle for hard-to-reach places. A width of 12.5mm and 254mm reach ensures you can easily clean narrow gaps around or at the back of your furniture, or tight areas in your car.

The last two attachments are part of the Detail Cleaning Kit ($99), which includes the scratch-free dusting brush, awkward gap tool and extension hose.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Garmin vívofit jr. 3 fitness tracker for kids

Your kid may not be a fan of Star Wars, but if you’re looking at this, we know you are. Garmin seems to have the monopoly on fitness tracker tie-ins with the Star Wars franchise, and these two new designs are the best we’ve seen from them. Mando and Baby Yoda Grogu feature on their vívofit jr. 3 models, and to really cool effect. The designs are beautifully etched in to the bands, while the characters showcase on the screens.

Here’s what the tracker can do:

  • Parent-controlled through the accompanying smartphone app.
  • Battery lasts up to 1 year.
  • Tracks steps, sleep (yes, this is to be worn when sleeping) and daily recommended activity minutes.
  • Fitness Training cards teach kids basic exercise moves, like jumping jacks, downward dog, and mountain climbers.
  • There’s an interactive Tap Challenge that lets kids collect virtual collectibles across the galaxy (a bit ambiguous, but it sounds fun for kids).
  • Parents can assign chores and schedule alerts which show up as icons on the display. This is the way.
  • The vívofit jr. 3 has a suggested retail price of $139 and is available on LAZADASHOPEE, and the Garmin ONLINE STORE.

Longchamp Goes Eco-Conscious Chic With The New Le Pliage® Re-Play Bags

We’ve all been trying to do our part for the planet by being conscious of our everyday practices. As for the fashion industry, they’re also striving to be just as sustainable, for instance, by reducing and reusing fabric waste left over from the production of their collections.

In an effort to further utilise end-of-the-roll materials as responsibly as possible, Longchamp has come up with a simple but ingenious solution in an all-new bag collection — the Le Pliage® Re-Play.
.

Colourful and eco-conscious, the Le Pliage® Re-Play comes in three different bag types, namely the Top Handle Bag ($155), Shoulder Bag ($125) and Crossbody Bag ($135). Each piece combines two different colours from their end-of-the-roll nylon canvas with a third colour of Russian leather trim.

The Le Pliage® Re-Play series is available in nine different colour combinations and in varying quantities in boutiques across the world. Unlike previous limited edition collections, the Le Pliage® Re-Play is quite literally limited since it’s dependent on the remaining stocks of canvas and leather. Once these are exhausted, these bags will not be reproduced.

Here’s a closer look at the pieces from Le Pliage® Re-Play.
.

The Longchamp Le Pliage® Re-Play collection will be available from 19 July in-store at Longchamp boutiques in-store and online HERE.

Supreme x Bang & Olufsen: Beosound Explore Supreme Edition

Bang & Olufsen partners once again with Supreme for a Beosound Explore Supreme Edition. It comes in red or black, and both have the iconic Supreme logo laser etched around the speaker in white for maximum contrast. The bluetooth speaker itself is crafted from Type 2 anodised aluminium for improved scratch resistance (so it’s great for using outdoors).

As of the time of writing, these are going to drop in 2 hours time exclusively through Supreme’s retail stores and it’s online webstore. Check it out at WWW.SUPREMENEWYORK.COM.

MCM launches two Crocs — one with a mini belt bag and the other with a “dog collar” chain

MCM sure loves their collaborations. They had a really successful one with lifestyle accessory brand, XOUXOU earlier this year, and there was that whole Spring/Summer 2022 campaign with local artists Benjamin Kheng and Shye. Their latest venture is in Crocs — the OG ones; not their own version like what Sketchers did.

There are two models. One has a belt bag while the other has a chain. Here they are in their full glory:

Above: MCM X CROCS Belt Bag Flat Sandals, $580

Above: MCM X CROCS m-pup Flat Sandals, $490

We like that the mini belt bag can be taken out and actually worn as a fashion accessory, plus those “studs” on the upper are 24-carat gold-plated Jibbitz charms. As for the pair that looks like a yellow highlighter,  notice the bulldog motif (inspired from MCM’s heritage) and the hardware that resembles a dog’s collar.

See if this video will entice you to buy one:

These resin clogs will set you back $490 for the M-Pup model and $580 for the one with the leather Belt Bag, and they are available now on the MCM website.
