LOEWE unveils a curated selection of accessories as part of their Fall Winter 2024 collection. Some of the pieces are innovations of existing signature silhouettes, while others are completely new designs for the season.

Highlights include the new LOEWE Onda slingback pump, which is crafted in brushed calfskin, and takes inspiration from the curves of waves, with a chunky, gently sinuous 90mm heel and distinctive toe shape.

There’s also an open toe version with a shorter 45mm heel, and both shoes are finished with a LOEWE engraved rectangular buckle.

LOEWE also introduces the Petal Bow sandal that is covered entirely in long hairy calfskin, and comes in vivid shades of Emerald Green or Paprika, as well as a more subdued Black version.

This season also sees incredible caviar beading that’s inspired by antique tapestry or Chelsea porcelain. The beading is featured on the Squeeze bag, Campo biker boot, and Toy pumps.

Finally, at the heart of the collection are soft and sensual bags that showcase the House’s leather savoir faire and innovation. We get the Flamenco Purse transformed into a generous large size, and coming in gorgeous nappa leather, with a rich new colour palette and chunky donut chain that adds a jewel-like detail.

PHANTOM V FLIP2 5G

Inspired by infinity pools, the PHANTOM V Flip2 5G ThruPool Cover Screen is a 3.64-inch display that supports over 2000 apps to make it easier for you to work on the cover screen without having to open up to the main display.

Unlike traditional flip designs, the device’s desktop application centre allows you to complete more operations on the external screen by setting up icons for instant access as well as supporting a full keyboard display for making calls and typing. There’s even an option to customise your display with interactive pets where you can stroke the pet for interaction!

PRISM+ Air Purifiers are THE affordable essentials to keep your home clean and healthy

After I was diagnosed with Sinusitis, having an air purifier in the home became a necessity but we could never find one that was right for the home. We tried everything from the normal ones to the ones that emit ions but nothing really worked.

Needless to say, I was grateful to PRISM+ when they offered the opportunity for me to try out three of their air purifiers — the Aura, Vortex, and Vortex Pro.

As someone who loves her Jellycat soft-toys that takes up a lot of space in my room, having an air purifier is essential, especially when I have a sensitive nose. While I had initially struggled, waking up with a blocked nose at times, I found that the frequency of this occurrence started to decrease two weeks after the PRISM+ Aura was added to my room.

It also neutralises airborne pollutants and absorbs formaldehyde, a carcinogen found in some flooring, wall paints, and furniture.

Being someone who does not really like to open the windows, there is a constant worry that I may be living with stale, unclean air. Using the Aura felt easy because I was finally able to understand if my air purifier was working for me.

One other thing that I truly appreciate about the Aura is the stealth-like sound quality of the air purifier. While I may be a deep sleeper, it is hard for me to easily fall asleep so I often needed to have near silence when I am lying on my bed about to go to sleep.

Concerned that I may be encountering yet another noisy air purifier like the one I had a few months ago, I was surprised to find that the Aura with its DC brushless motor that made the whirring of the fan at low speed sound almost non-existent.

PRISM+ VORTEX

After having contracted Covid three times in the past, I noticed that my father’s immune system isn’t as strong as it used to be and he was starting to get more sensitive to allergens, often having running nose in the morning and evening for no reason.

Worried that it might have to do with the air in his room, I placed the PRISM+ Vortex near his bed in the hopes that it will help to disinfect and clean the air.

Equipped with infrared sensors that monitors air quality in real-time, the Vortex air purifier was able to indicate to my dad about the air quality in his room without needing to have him fumble with the machine. It did the indication through a series of colours — blue for good, orange for average and red for poor.

Needless to say, the indicative colours were easy for my parents to read because there was a day when the light indicated orange and my dad, in a slight state of panic, began to open all the windows of the home to “air” the space. 

Since I added the Vortex to my parents’ bedroom, I have noticed that my dad had been waking up with less bouts of sneezing which also has also coincidentally helped with improving his mood, making him less of a grouchy sneezer in the morning.

PRISM+ VORTEX PRO

Suited for larger rooms, I saved the PRISM+ Vortex Pro for my living room which has a wider surface area, since my home had an open concept interior that extended from the living room to the kitchen.

While the open concept has been great for our family temperature wise, it has not been the best in terms of controlling odours as the living room leads straight to the rubbish chute with no doors or walls in between. This means that whenever there is a pest disinfection going on in the estate, the fumes goes straight into our living space, no filter.

A concern that the family had when we placed the machine near the sofa was that it would get too noisy while we were watching TV. However, despite its larger machine size, the sound emitted was almost silent and we would often be surprised by the light indicator because we would forget the air purifier was there!

Since having the Vortex Pro in the living room, I’ve noticed that the air felt fresher and less stale than it did before. It also felt like there was less dust particles in the air and whenever we were caught off guard by random unpleasant smells, we would find that the odour dissipates rather quickly and doesn’t stick in the air.

Haven features on NYLON Singapore’s September 2024 Cover, captured with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6

From young, 21-year-old Haven knew that she wanted to be a singer. 

When Haven, whose real name is Teo Cher Win, first walked into the studio for her photoshoot, with her luggage in tow, it was almost easy to forget that this isn’t just your average petite, bubbly and cheerful young woman.

As soon as she stood in front of the camera, there was no doubt that Haven was born to be a star.

While most of us might fumble trying to work the camera or figure out what our photogenic angles are, Haven did it with utmost ease as she consistently served a variety of fierce looks while exuding confidence and charm like a seasoned veteran. And despite her young age, one could consider Haven a veteran of sorts as she had dabbled with music ever since she could “stand and talk and walk”.

“My mom used to have photos of me just dancing and singing — she had her hands full because I was very annoying.”

Even though her mother knew Haven had a dream of becoming a singer, it wasn’t without its own challenges especially when it came to being able to afford sending her to music lessons.

“I wasn’t in a financially stable household so it was very tough for her to provide that,” said Haven.

Because of this, Haven wasn’t able to continue music lessons until she was older and could afford them with her own money. She was eventually scouted by Singaporean label AOR Global and signed on at the age of 16. 

Since then, Haven has only continued to grow as an artiste, putting out more than 10 singles including two that were released this year after she joined Wild Entertainment Group in 2023.

Although she might have her hands full with the development of her soon-to-be-released full-length album, Haven still found time to perform at the recent Waterbomb 2024 Singapore amidst a line-up of international Korean acts that include Jay Park, Jessi and Rain.

Haven knows that getting to the top will not be without its own challenges, but her relentless dedication to her music is proof why the future continues to shine brightly.

Hi Haven! For those who have yet to get to know you — how would you introduce Haven to them?

Haven: “I would say, hi, I’m Haven. I sing, I like doing music, I like watching movies, and I will also be very socially awkward (laughs).”

So, why did you decide to go with the name “Haven”?

H: “Because I wanted my music to be a safe place for other people; just like how other musicians have been for me.”

What age did you know that you wanted to become a singer?

H: “From the moment I could stand and talk and walk. My mom used to have photos of me just dancing and singing and I would tell her, ‘Mom, I really want to be a singer and I want to perform’. She had her hands full because I was very annoying.”

Did your mom sign you up for music classes?

H: “Not initially but I bugged her for so many years. However, because I wasn’t in a financially stable household, it was very tough for her to provide that. I didn’t really ask that of her as well. So, when I was a bit older and I could go and make some money for myself; that was when I said, ‘okay, I could go and get some lessons now’.”

What aspirations did your parents have for you?

H: “Not anything specific… they just wanted me to go to school and I didn’t do that because I dropped out. But, my mom has always been very understanding. She has seen my passion and my antics at home where I’ll just sing and dance so she always knew that was what I wanted to do and she accepted it very easily.”

What were some of the first songs you wrote?

H: “I wrote my first-ever song that came out called ‘Piece of Paper’ and I penned it because I was really angry with society and how they viewed like a college degree or a diploma, you know, like a piece of paper. 

It felt like it was so important that every single time someone talked to me it was always, ‘are you going to get your degree? Are you going to get your diploma? If not you will fail in life’. I even had a teacher who told me that I would fail in life if I didn’t show up for class.”

Breaking into the music industry is never an easy thing to do. What was one of the biggest challenges that you had to overcome?

H: “My mind. It’s like the number one poison for me because there’s a lot of mental blocks and doubts that I give to myself. I’m like my number one enemy and I’ve been working on that throughout the years. It is getting better but it is still definitely a problem that I will fix.”

How do you unwind when you’re stressed out?

H: “I really need to like distract myself completely. I’ve tried going for massages but because it’s so quiet, my mind starts to think about everything. So, I like to have a movie playing in the background. I like to multitask. I also have ADHD so it is easier to focus on doing things and distract my mind.”

In your opinion, how important is it to have a positive mindset or outlook as a singer?

H: “So important. If you don’t have that, you’re done for (laughs). 

You have to be mentally strong to keep yourself going because it’s not always going to be good days. There are going to be bad days. If you don’t get yourself out of a negative mindset, you will fall into a rabbit hole. And trust me, I’ve been there and it’s not fun. Having people around you that are always supportive is also very helpful.”

You recently performed at Waterbomb 2024 Singapore. What was that experience like?

H: “It was so fun! Honestly, it was just a surreal experience. I haven’t really processed the performance yet. I think I’m still in shock that I even did it but I’m just super grateful for the opportunity.”

Do you have any dream collaborators?

H: “I would love to work with Kehlani. She just dropped an album and I’ve been listening to that on repeat.”

As a new member of Samsung’s Team Galaxy and a new Galaxy user, what has been some of your favourite features on your Galaxy Z Flip6?

H: “I have two favourites. The first one is sketch-to-image which has been really fun to play with friends. I use it to play Pictionary with them and it’s super fun. The second feature that I’m in love with is the Interpreter which helps with translation. I travel a lot so it has been so helpful and convenient to navigate with my phone.”

Any advice for aspiring singers who want to embark on a similar journey like you?

H: “I would say to just do it and not to give yourself any doubt. I know there’s a lot of pressure releasing your first song but you just need to release that first song. The moment you do that, you’ll keep learning and growing all the way. But, if you never do it, then you will literally never do it because you will always give yourself excuses.”

Finally, what’s next for Haven?

H: “I’m very excited. I’ve been working on a lot of collaborations and there’s like a lot of new songs coming out. There will be one that’s coming out in October so keep an eye out for that!”

Following the initial launch of Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams which featured 18K yellow gold or black titanium in all-metal and diamond iterations, Tiffany & Co. introduces new freshwater pearl designs to the collection that have been inspired by the trident of Poseidon and pays homage to Atlantis, the community in Virginia Beach where Pharrell Williams was raised.

CASETiFY drops limited-edition collection for FRIENDS’ 30th Anniversary

For the first time since Hermès Beauty was born, the fashion House has launched a limited edition collection for Autumn-Winter 2024 that is inspired by the intense aura of the colour blue and the sensuality of leather. 

This limited edition collection pays homage to the radiant, versatile, diverse and multifaceted colour featuring shades of blue and fresh hues that reflect the duality in a sensory blend of hot and cold.

ROUGE HERMÈS LIPSTICK

Imagined by Pierre Hardy, the creator of Hermès Beauty objects, each Rouge Hermès lipstick case features a trio of colours that are subtle combinations of natural and botanical hues that are offset by a blue accent in a different shade. It’s also the first time that the case is finished in ultra-matte, echoing the velvety feel of leather.

Offering you a natural palette in tune with the leather tanning process, the 11 Ombres Minérales incorporates an intense cobalt blue that elevates a soft khaki and a warm, sun-kissed brown that is offset by a counterpoint of gold.

LES MAINS HERMÈS NAIL ENAMELS

Inspired by the colours of Hermès leather, the two shades of Les Mains Hermès nail enamel in the collection are 81 Bleu Agate, an intense, mineral blue; and 83 Vert Bronze, a deep, dense khaki with grey undertones.

Both shades are presented in the same bottle as the permanent collection and have a similar formula composed of at least 71% ingredients of natural origin.

CHANEL Beauty introduces new Fall Winter 2024 Makeup collection inspired by divinatory arts

Inspired by numerology, astrology and divination which often served as guides for Gabrielle Chanel, the new Fall Winter 2024 makeup collection draws on all things mystical, some of which are mysterious objects found in her apartment on 31 rue Cambon.

Apple unveils new iPhone 16, Apple Watch, AirPods and first-ever Apple Intelligence

In one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, Apple has revealed its latest line-up of new devices that will be hitting Apple Stores in Singapore later this month.

Among the devices that were announced, Apple is set to roll out its all-new personal intelligence system — the Apple Intelligence — starting next month alongside iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15 to deliver intelligence that will harness the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from how you use your phone to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

These Apple Intelligence features will include Writing Tools to help you rewrite, proofread and summarise text; Photos to enable you to create movies the way you want to see it by using your description; a Clean Up tool to help you remove photo bombers in the background of your photo; and the ability to record, transcribe and summarise audio.

More features will roll out later in the year and in coming months.

APPLE iPHONE 16 PRO AND PRO MAX

As part of this feature, a new camera preview will help make it easier for you to frame your shot and adjust other control options by simply sliding your finger.

Powered by A18 Pro, the two phones’ upgraded camera system will provide you with a new 48MP Fusion camera to film videos in Dolby Vision, offering the highest resolution and frame-rate combination ever on an iPhone. Coupled with the new image signal processor, you can even do a frame-by-frame cinema-quality colour grading for videos filmed in 4K120 fps.

The system adds a new 48MP Ultra Wide camera as well, for you to take higher-resolution photos and a powerful 5x Telephoto camera to catch the action from far away.

The iPhone 16 Pro (from S$1,599) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (from S$1,899) will be available in black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capabilities.
Both phones will be available for PRE-ORDER starting 13 September at 8pm and will be available in stores from 20 September.

APPLE IPHONE 16 AND 16 PLUS

Built to last, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with the latest-generation of Ceramic Shield with an advanced formulation that makes it 50% tougher than the first generation.

Both models have also been reengineered to allow for an even larger battery that better dissipates heat to make battery service easier and offer a big boost in battery life.

Available in 6.1-inch for the iPhone 16 and 6.7-inch for the iPhone 16 Plus, both devices will come with an Action button that allows you to easily access a variety of functions with by simply pressing the button. In doing so, you can quickly open features like the camera, flashlight or even recognise music with Shazam and activate Translate.

Similar to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, both the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will come with the Camera Control feature as well as a 48MP Fusion Camera. However, unlike the Pro models, the camera offers a 2x optical-quality Telephoto option for you to get closer to your subject to frame a photo.

The devices also come with a new 12MP Ultra Wide Camera with autofocus which enables macro photography and gathers up to 2.6x more light for higher image quality.

The iPhone 16 (from S$1,299) and iPhone 16 Plus (from S$1,399) will be available in ultramarine, teal, pink, white and black in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capabilities.
Both phones will be available for PRE-ORDER starting 13 September at 8pm and will be available in stores from 20 September.

APPLE WATCH SERIES 10

With a refined design and equipped with new capabilities, the Apple Watch Series 10 is dubbed the thinnest Apple Watch yet, offering you the biggest and most advanced display of any Apple Watch, with a first-ever wide-angle OLED display, as well as an all-day 18-hour battery life.

In addition to being thinner, the Apple Series Watch 10 is with aluminium cases that weigh up to 10% less than the Series 9 and titanium cases that weigh almost 20% lesser than the stainless steel Series 9. 

The larger display on the Series 10 offers up to 9% more active screen area than its predecessor which improves readability and usability. This also means that it is now easier to type a message, pause a workout, or enter a passcode.

Because it is built to be even more comfortable and convenient to wear during sleep, the Series 10 comes with an all-new feature to help identify signs of sleep apnea. To detect sleep apnea, the Apple Watch 10 uses the accelerometer to monitor small movements at the wrist that are associated with interruptions in normal respiratory patterns.

Featuring a new metal back, the Apple Watch Series 10 is now the fastest-charging Apple Watch ever with its larger and more efficient charging coil that provides up to 80% battery after you charge the watch for just 30 minutes!

cArt Installations with Local Artists

Local artists Alvin Phunk and SuperCyberTown have come together to add their own flair to the spirit of the night race with a captivating showcase of blending art and cars together.

In the day, check out how renowned local artist-designer Alvin Phunk, co-founder of Singapore-based art collective Phunk, transforms a sleek Mercedes CLA 45S 4MATIC+ Coupe into his rolling canvas which will showcase his signature dynamic designs.

Then, as the sun goes down, watch how the car is turned into another work of art as it blends art and technology through a series of projection mappings created by Southeast Asian visual effects artist and music producer Race Krehel, who is also known as ‘SuperCyberTown’.

EVISU’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection redefines Streetwear and features Chinese Actor and Professional Motorcycle Racer, Wang Yibo

Japanese denim brand, EVISU has teamed up with their global ambassador, Wang Yibo for their new Fall-Winter 2024 collection. The campaign features the Chinese Actor and Professional Motorbike Rider showcasing EVISU’s denim pieces and separates across the main line — EVISU, as well as EVISU EVERGREEN, and EVISU KURO.

For this collection, EVISU draws inspiration from classic and retro denim pieces, with elements such as tie-dye, intricate embroidery and optical illusion prints. With every piece, EVISU’s passion for denim and meticulous attention to detail is evident.

 

In the campaign video, Wang Yibo says, “retro is not the standard answer, avant-garde is not the only path”; alluding to a redefined version of streetwear that channels his rebellious spirit and unmatched energy.

With the EVISU EVERGREEN collection, EVISU’s original Japanese elements are weaved with the pop culture of today; the iconic Kamon logo is seen as both embroidery and prints on fabric, and transformed into an edgy gradient effect on jackets such as the one above. The monogram Kamon and logo feature on this jacquard denim jacket that’s crafted from multicoloured yarn. It has a washed effect, and showcases a gradient of aqua blue splashed across, resulting in a nostalgic retro vibe.

EVISU’s classic denim jacket is also given a unique washed treatment, with a worn-in, vintage look. These printed-on graphics result in one-of-a-kind pieces, with no two pieces being the same.

There’s also a blanket coat (see picture above) that’s adorned with playful monogram prints. In a retro mint green palette, this is a fresh and energetic take on the traditional silhouette.

Aiming to infuse playfulness into your everyday, the Hello Kitty | Starbucks collection will feature designs of the beloved character with her vibrant red bow dressed in a Starbucks classic green apron, accompanied by her teddy bear, Tiny Chum, on different styles of drink ware and other everyday essentials.

Aside from the drink ware and lifestyle accessories, there will also be blind box collectibles, featuring tiny cup clips of Hello Kitty and Tiny Chum, for you to collect!

The Hello Kitty | Starbucks Collection will be available from 10 September in stores, on the STARBUCKS ONLINE STORE at 10am, and on LazMall, ShopeeMall at 12pm.

For the first time ever, Starbucks invites you to enjoy two Hello Kitty-themed handcrafted beverages that promises to evoke nostalgia and stir up fond memories.

Inspired by the comforting flavours of Hello Kitty’s favourite food — her Mama’s Apple Pie — the Starbucks Apple Pie Cream Frappuccino offers a velvety-smooth treat featuring a chunky apple sauce base, that tastes like freshly baked apple pie, and layered with milk and cream frappuccino syrup.

Paying homage to Hello Kitty’s signature red bow, the Red Apple Frozen Tea offers a refreshing taste of Teavana Zen Clouds Oolong Tea with sweet chunky apple sauce to add a fun texture to your drink.

Both drinks will be available from 10 September to enjoy in-store, or via Starbucks Mobile Order & Pay, Starbucks Deliver, GrabFood, Foodpanda and Deliveroo.
