These new features, unveiled today, include a new update to Grab For Family that extends to teenagers, a better experience for large orders, GrabFood options for an individual person, Shared Saver option that helps you to save on small order fees, advanced booking for airport pick-ups, Dine Out Discovery (powered by GrabMaps), and the Grab Travel Pass.

Here’s a closer look at each feature.

Grab For Family | Teens

If you’ve always sought a safe and reliable way for your teenagers (aged 13 to 17) to travel independently while having the ability to keep an eye on them, this new feature does just that by linking your teen’s account to the Grab for Family account.

It is designed for you or your teen to book their rides with extra safety features built in to protect them. This include getting prioritised assignment to top-rated driver-partners with proven track records, a ride PIN verification that helps to ensure they get into the right car, and an always on AudioProtect, which uses GenAI to detect dangers in real-time and allows Grab to intervene immediately if needed.

These rides will also feature trip monitoring so that you are able to track your teen’s journey from the moment it starts till it arrives at its destination.

The Grab For Family | Teens experience is set to roll out for Southeast Asia Grab App users in May, with plans to launch by mid-2025 in Singapore, subject to regulatory approval.

GrabFood for One

Ever found yourself in a situation where you wanted to order alone but end up giving up after not being able to meet the minimum order value?

Well, now you don’t have to worry about not getting your desired meal, thanks to Grab’s new GrabFood for One. Working with merchant-partners to curate and design a diverse list of tasty meal options, Grab now makes it more affordable and easier for you to get your food without any minimum spend and at a fixed low delivery fee.

GrabFood for One is now live and available in the Grab App for Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Shared Saver

Designed to help fix your bubble tea cravings, the Shared Saver helps to alleviate the small order worries by offering you the option to join live orders near you. It is a bit like joining a Group Order but the people you’re joining are complete strangers.

Grab’s AI detects and helps to start a Shared Saver order when there are multiple orders in the vicinity for a same merchant.

The feature also has a countdown timer to tell you how soon you need to make a decision and when you checkout, you’ll be able to see how much you’ve saved on delivery by piggybacking on someone else’s order.

The best part about this is that you’ll still get your snack or bubble tea delivered straight to your location, with no small order fee included.

Shared Saver will be piloted within the Grab App in Singapore from April with plans to roll out more pilots in other cities by June.

Advanced Booking (Airport Pickup)

Adjusting dynamically to your flight status, this feature offers a reliable and predictable service which tracks your flight in real-time so that driver schedules can be adjusted based on your actual arrival time.

This essentially means that even when your flight is delayed, you don’t have to worry about informing the driver as the feature will automatically update the driver on your behalf to ensure that once you land, there will be a driver there to pick you up.

The Advanced Booking (Airport Pickup) feature is currently available in the Grab App for I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Yogyakarta International Airport, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1, Phuket International Airport, and Seletar Airport in Singapore.
More launches are set to happen across major cities in the coming months.

Dine Out Discovery (Powered by GrabMaps)

Whether you’re looking for a place to eat around Singapore or while you’re on holiday, the Dine Out Discovery feature helps you to discover the best restaurants through a search that filters by cuisine, food preferences, what’s popular, ratings, price, and even walkable distance.

You can even tap on each restaurant to see details such as menus, opening hours, photos, user reviews, and whether or not they are offering a dine out deal. There’s also the option to make a reservation (if applicable)!

Dine Out Discovery will be available across all Grab App markets by May. The reservation option will be launched in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand in May, with other markets to follow.

If you’re traveling to Southeast Asia for a quick getaway, the Grab Travel Pass is an in-app purchase which provides various vouchers for airport rides, general transport, food delivery, and dining out — all to make your travels around the region more affordable, convenient and enjoyable.

The Grab Travel Pass is now available in the Grab App across all countries.

Large Orders Made Seamless

Have you ever encountered a situation where you’re gathered with your loved ones but your food order for the family hasn’t arrived?

To tackled issues that often arise from large food orders, Grab has introduced back-end improvements using a tailored Large Language Model (LLM) to determine if it’s a large order by estimating the weight and size of the items in your order.

If the algorithms determine that it is too bulky or heavy for one delivery person to handle, the system will try to find a larger vehicle to deliver it to you, or to split your order into two and have two separate motorbike delivery partners deliver your order not too far apart.

This solution is now live across Southeast Asia and is continuously improving.
