Katamari, Space Invaders and other nostalgic games coming to Apple Arcade in April

With over 200 games in the catalogue, Apple Arcade has been steadily launching excellent games over the years and this April’s launch looks to entice us with modern takes on classic games from the past.

First is Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE, the first original game from the Katamari franchise in almost eight years. Players expand their katamari by rolling into objects scattered around the earth and picking them up, growing into an ever-enlargening ball. In this new game, players are tasked to energise the King of All Cosmos’ live stream, with comments from in-game fans appearing on the side. The longer one plays, the more subscribers the stream gets and new stages will be unlocked.

In Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, players will be able to switch between classic and shoot-’em-up modes, with the initial retro design transforming into modern 3D graphics. Increasingly powerful ships can be unlocked, with guest appearances from other ships in TAITO shooter games such as Darius, Night Striker and Raystorm

Need something to calm down after all that excitement? Puffies is a relaxing game that combines classic jigsaw puzzles with adorable puffy stickers. Players can solve hand-designed puzzles and unlock new themed sticker packs to build their collection while competing on the leaderboards.

If you’re more of a builder, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+ is an absolute fan favourite. With features from both RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, this theme park building game is enhanced for iPhone and iPad with three expansion packs – Wacky Worlds, Time Twister and Toolkit.

For some multiplayer fun, The Game of Life 2+ features even more content like new career paths and more. Crucially, money is no longer the deciding factor in who wins at the end. There are now new paths to victory, since points can be earned in one of the three paths – wealth, knowledge or happiness. New options like pets are in the game, which means we can choose to be a child-free cat lady if we so desire.

Last but not least, we have Sesame Street Mecha Builders+. Targeted towards a younger audience, this game combines science, engineering, math and creativity through mini-games and activities in a STEM adventure with Mecha Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby. In the game, there are puzzles, coding exercises, music creation and more.

THESE SIX GAMES WILL BE ADDED TO APPLE ARCADE ON 3 APRIL. APPLE ARCADE IS AVAILABLE FOR S$13.98 PER MONTH WITH A ONE MONTH FREE TRIAL.
