NOMOS introduces special edition of the classic Ludwig watch, with just 500 units available

After 12 years of partnership with Doctors Without Borders to raise funds for the charity NGO, NOMOS has just announced a limited edition of the German brand’s classic watch model, the Ludwig. This exclusive model aims to raise 125,000 euros for the German office of Doctors Without Borders, and just 500 units will be available worldwide.

The Ludwig neomatik für Ärzte ohne Grenzen special edition comes in either 36.4mm or 38.5mm cases, and both models are limited to just 250 pieces. The watch retains much of the Ludwig styling with some aesthetical differences to set it apart. First, you’ll notice the striking red Roman numeral 12 on the dial, symbolising the urgency of humanitarian aid and honouring Doctors Without Borders’s efforts and work.

The “Ärzte ohne Grenzen” inscription at 6 o’clock is a homage to Doctors Without Borders, as they’re known in Germany. Additionally, the watch comes with an enamel white dial along with black indices, hands and details, which is not common in other Ludwig models.

Here’s a closer look at the watch.

Despite having the in-house DUW 3001 automatic movement (power reserve of up to 43 hours, 27 jewels), the Ludwig neomatik für Ärzte ohne Grenzen measures just 7mm thick, which is just slightly thicker than the classic manual winding Ludwig at 6.7mm. Both models come with a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather strap and a limited edition number engraving around the rim of the open caseback.

The 36.4mm model is priced at S$4,710 while the 36.5mm model retails for S$5,000. The watch comes with a rounded, stainless steel winged clasp, although a deployant clasp can be purchased separately for S$105.
