The Travel Alliance, which brings together leading mobile operators across Asia Pacific including Singtel, has officially launched WanderJoy — the world’s first-ever cross-border rewards programmed created by telcos.
This platform is aimed at giving your travel experience a boost by providing you with a curated list of rewards and privileges that you can easily access through the Singtel app (when you roam) or other participating telco apps such as myAIS app, The Club, KDDI au Unlimited Data Overseas, GOMO PH app, Taiwan Mobile app, and MyTelkomsel, across APAC.
Speaking at the KDDI Summit 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, Ms Anna Yip, CEO, International Digital Services of Singtel and Chairperson of the Travel Alliance shared that the idea to come together to create this initiative, was after noticing how the “travel experience is still fragmented and inconsistent around the world”.
“Tourists often download multiple apps and worry about their payment security as they have to input card details into different apps and this can be a little bit frustrating or challenging,” said Ms Yip, “So, this is where telcos can make a difference.”
Ms Yip shared that by leveraging the secured mobile services of telco apps, it means that they can deliver a secure and seamless cross border experience, allowing customers to travel with ease and pay with the familiar methods without having to add new payment methods.
This also extends to keeping customers digitally safe since the telcos already provide 24/7 security protection.
Ms Yip said: “Many other rewards programme only touch part of your journey but telcos are very unique because we really provide end-to-end connectivity.”
Offers to look out for during the launch campaign
For Singaporeans using Singtel roaming during their travels, WanderJoy can be accessed through the My Singtel app under the ‘Roaming’ tab. From there, you will be able to browse the various offers available by destination, tap to redeem vouchers, and activate travel privileges instantly without having to do a separate sign-in.
