Hermès launches Barénia, its very first chypre fragrance

Named after the Hermès signature natural, heritage leather, the Barénia is the fashion house’s first-ever chypre fragrance designed by Christine Nagel, the Creative Director of Hermès Perfumes.

The scent combines the delicate butterfly lily with miracle berry that leaves a warm trail of oakwood alongside an intense patchouli which reveals the characterful signature of the perfume.

For the first time, the essence of the Collier de chien — inspired by the real dog collars once produced by Hermès Sellier — has inspired the fragrance bottle’s design which includes crystal-clear curves and precious metal.

Its elliptical shape is overlaid with a metal plate which bears four contoured studs with domed facets, reminiscent of Hermès’ Collier de chien bracelet.

In addition to the fragrance, the Barénia line will also include a perfumed body cream that comes in a glass jar and a scented soap engraved with the initial ‘H’.

The Barénia Eau de Perfume is priced from S$229 and the Barénia Perfumed Soap is priced at S$65.

The Barénia range will be available from 2 September at Hermès Singapore boutiques at Liat Towers, Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya, and at the Hermés Parfum & Beauté counter in Takashimaya and Tangs.
