This year, OPPO Singapore launched the #Find24HourMiracle photography contest, inviting photography enthusiasts to capture Singapore’s unique beauty and vibrancy in a 24-hour timeline.
Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the competition sought to celebrate the recent launch of the highly-anticipated OPPO Find X8 Series while showcasing the allure of Singapore’s diverse landscapes and experiences, from dawn to dusk.
20 shortlisted participants were armed with an OPPO Find X8 Pro to capture extraordinary “miracle moments” and to curate a photo collection that tells their Singapore’s 24-hour miracle story.
In the spirit of this initiative, we also embarked on our own journey to showcase Singapore’s unique traits at the country’s biggest annual marathon.
It is perhaps not unusual that marathons here in Singapore have become somewhat of a unique characteristic of ours, drawing not just the locals but also global runners to take part.
Singaporeans are also familiar with the need to upkeep and maintain their good health — something that has been at the forefront of the minds of many individuals after settling into this new normal since the pandemic.
The first impression we got while capturing the runners as they made their way around the designated route was how the colours seem to pop, no matter the lighting, thanks to Hasselblad’s colour science and OPPO’s HyperTone Image Engine.
This latest breakthrough in computational photography intelligently merges up to nine RAW frames into a single image, which allowed for us to capture stunning images with exceptional clarity, dynamic range, and significantly reduced noise.
It also allowed for us to preserve the natural aesthetics of our photos while greatly improving its overall quality by protecting bright highlights, ensuring shadows showcase depth, and for mid-tones to reproduce a remarkable amount of details.
We personally loved the compression we get from a longer lens, which is rare for phone cameras to encapsulate. However, with the gapless quality zoom of the dual-periscope telephoto cameras, we were able to really enjoy zooming in to the extreme to focus on specific subjects.
A favourite part of the experience at the marathon with the Find X8 Pro was using its latest Hasselblad Portrait Mode which was not only incredibly useful and effective but it was able to create the depth that emulates the natural bokeh Hasselblad is known for.
The Find X8 Pro supports six portrait focal lengths ranging from 23mm to 135mm — which is the only globally available optical 135mm portrait mode.
By tapping on advanced subject segmentation algorithms, the Find X8 Pro is able to precisely isolate even the finest details of your subject, such as individual strands of hair or intricate handheld objects to produce truly captivating portraits.
As we were capturing photos of runners at the marathon, we found that the Lightning Snap on the Find X8 Pro came in handy. The rapid-fire shooting mode helped to unleash a burst at up to 7 frames per second so that we would have varied shots to curate later.
If you’re a photography lover, here is your opportunity to explore, capture and share your magical moments about Singapore through the lens of the OPPO Find X8 Series.
