adidas Originals’ latest collab with Song for the Mute continues exploration of nostalgia and materiality

As an ode to the elemental, the latest collaboration between Song for the Mute and adidas Originals is a reflection of the nomad, the maker, the wanderer — rooted yet untethered, grounded yet free.

At the heart of the collaboration are two reimagined silhouettes, the iconic Superstar and the Adistar Cushion.

Rebuilt with soft tactility, the Superstar features vegetable-tanned suede, buttery full-grain leather, and rich tonal hides.

Each side of the shoe contrasts matte, open-pored leathers with subtly sheened finishes, and includes a custom-moulded shell toe, a first for Adidas, that features additional lace holes, a hidden SFTM insignia, and a muted matte execution.

The Adistar Cushion, on the other hand, is a more technical pair of shoes that features nubuck suede, pony hair, and a see-through open mesh upper that creates a layered interplay of structure and imperfection.

Contrasted suede and the three stripes in satin adds depth to the shoe, while a dusted, timeworn outsole reinforces movement through landscape.

In addition to the shoes, the collaboration also showcases apparel in the form of a reimagined tracksuit and washed tees.

The jacket features an embroidered script appliqué on the rear while the washed tees, embroidered with collaborative script insignia, features sun-faded graphics, and cuts that are relaxed.

The adidas Originals and Song for the Mute collection launches on 13 March, 10am through CONFIRMED, and at adidas Brand Centre Orchard.
