These two carefully developed series prioritises skin health without unnecessary additives, featuring carefully selected natural ingredients and gentle, skin-friendly textures that offer clean, effective, and value-for-money daily skin care.

Booster Series
With the global growing interest in fermented and rice-derived skincare, MUJI has joined the conversation with its own proprietary formulation that is rooted in simplicity and quality.
At the heart of the Booster Series is MUJI’s proprietary Fermented Rice Bran Extract that is crafted from rice bran produced in Yamagata, Japan, which is cultivated with mountain water that is rich in seven types of vitamins and eight types of mineral.
Traditionally removed during rice polishing, the nutrient-dense layer of the rice brand is carefully transformed through a gentle fermentation process into a moisturising liquid that helps to refine your skin texture and boost hydration.
Through fermentation, MUJI gives new purpose to the rice bran, along with its derived yeast extract and rice bran oil, to enhance the rice bran’s moisturising properties.
In an effort to ensure it is gentle for all skin types, the formulation is alcohol-free; a result achieved by refining the fermentation process and carefully removing alcohol after fermentation, and help to make it an effective yet gentle ingredient that supports the skin’s natural texture and hydration.
The Booster Series features two essential products namely the Booster Serum and the Booster Essence Lotion. Both of which have been designed to soften the outer skin layer and improve the penetration of toning water and other moisture-based elements.
Booster Serum ($20.90) is one of MUJI Japan’s top-selling items, offering a rich, water-free formula that contains over 65% Fermented Rice Bran Extract to give you firmness, elasticity, and deep hydration for dry or moisture-depleted skin.
“I found this particularly useful as part of my nighttime routine as I slept in an air-conditioned room. My skin would feel dry and I would have a dull complexion that looked as if I didn’t have enough rest (even with 8 hours of sleep!). However, since using the Booster Serum, I have noticed a brighter complexion in the morning and lesser dry skin flakes when I put on my makeup,” said Jasmine, Senior Writer at NYLON Singapore.
For those who prefer a lightweight texture, the Booster Essence Lotion ($5.90 for 50ml | $16.90 for 300ml) provides a light, refreshing formula that is infused with Fermented Rice Bran Extract and ceramides as moisturising ingredients for quick absorption. Suitable for oily or combination skin, all you’ll need to do is apply the lotion with a portion that is about the size of a 10-cent coin and massage it onto your face.
“As someone who does not like using skincare in the night, I was surprised to find that I really liked using the Booster Essence Lotion because of its lightweight formula. Gone were the worries of having my skincare smeared onto my bed covers as the lotion was able to dry fairly quickly before I climb into bed,” said Jasmine.
This series is free from harsh chemicals and is made with no colouring, no mineral oil, no synthetic fragrance. It is also paraben-free, alcohol-free, phenoxyethanol-free, and has undergone allergy and stinging tests to ensure gentleness on your skin.

Sensitive Skin Series
Get gentle, deeply moisturising care for all types of skin, including those with sensitive or easily irritated skin, with MUJI’s Sensitive Skin Series which has been thoughtfully formulated with 100% natural ingredients. Ideal for first-time skincare users too, this low-irritation series is also free from synthetic fragrances, colourants, paragons, alcohol, and phenoxyethanol.
Since sensitive skin often lacks ceramides, the series has been formulated with ceramides as a key ingredient to reinforce barrier function, helping to maintain your skin’s natural barrier and to lock in moisture.
The formulation also includes five types of amino acids to support moisture retention in your skin’s outer layers, and three plant extracts which include the newly added Eucalyptus Leaf Extract and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate to help soothe and prevent skin roughness.

Pre Lotion
If you’ve been looking for a beauty product that helps with the first step to clear skin, then MUJI’s Pre Lotion is might just do the trick.
Designed to remove impurities, the Pre Lotion ($15.90) acts as a gentle exfoliating lotion that is enriched with lactic acid to clear dirt and sebum from pores while helping to prepare your skin for the rest of your daily skincare routine. All you’ll have to do is apply a small amount to a cotton pad and gently wipe your face after cleansing.
