Louis Vuitton Wraps Its Signature Red in a Holiday Case

For the holidays, La Beauté Louis Vuitton is celebrating Monogram Rouge, the deep, burnished red that has been part of the line since its first collection. The shade’s number, 896, nods to 1896, the year the Monogram canvas was created, which turns 130 this year. It blends the rich browns of the canvas with the house’s classic true red and is meant to flatter every skin tone.

The limited edition puts five bestsellers into a Monogram Rouge case, with one new addition: a matte finish in the shade, a first for the line. The shades include:

  • LV Rouge Satin 896 Monogram Rouge ($220): the original satin lipstick in the signature red.
  • LV Rouge Matte 896 Monogram Rouge ($220): the new velvety matte version, softer and more diffused.
  • LV Baume 896 Monogram Touch ($235): a sheer burgundy-brown lip balm for a lighter wash of colour.
  • LV Ombres 896 Monogram Rouge palette ($360): an eyeshadow palette with three brown shades inspired by the canvas and the red as a satin powder.

The recently launched LV Crayon in the same shade works as the matching lip liner.

Each piece comes in a burgundy lacquered aluminium case with hand-painted Monogram flowers on the ring, designed to be refilled and kept. The collection also includes small leather goods and accessories in burgundy canvas.
