Following the announcement earlier in June, Pokémon Pokopia is giving you more reasons to play with a free update on 5 August that introduces the new move, Dive. This will allow you to enjoy developing towns in deeper and broader ways than before in a new world that is expanding beneath the waves.

Of course, in order to learn this newly added move, you’ll need to ensure that you’ve completed the request to “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach, as well as have the ability to jump and surf.

Aside from the free update, Pokémon Pokopia is also introducing a paid DLC in the form of an expansion pass that will give you the ability to develop towns and enjoy more of that slow life with Pokémon. You’ll be able to play the DLC with your existing Pokémon Pokopia saved data, so no need to worry about starting over!

Slated to be released across 3 parts, Part 1: Bubbly Basin is scheduled to be released on 5 August 2026. Part 2 and Part 3 is scheduled to be released in late 2026 and 2027 respectively.

Bubbly Basin is a new underwater town that you can visit and enjoy by using the new move, Dive. Here, you’ll be able to experience new encounters with Pokémon who live under the sea like Popplio, Mudkip and Corphish, get new outfits for Ditto, and add new furniture that fits perfectly with the ocean floor setting.

We were lucky enough to try out the new move in the upcoming paid DLC, and can confirm that it is about to make Pokémon Pokopia a lot more addictive. For a lot of us who’ve played the game since its release, we know how much potential there is to expand the world a little more, especially when we see the building blocks of a world underneath when we accidentally fall into the water at Bleak Beach.

Now, that realisation of an underwater world has come true with Part 1: Bubbly Basin, which takes us well below to the ocean floor, where we meet more new Pokémon and go on quests that gives us a new area to explore.

Without giving too much away, Part 1: Bubbly Basin definitely continues the fun elements of Pokémon Pokopia which allows you to befriend more pokémon while uncovering more areas, including the darker depths of an ocean at your own pace.

The Pokémon Pokopia free update and paid DLC Part 1: Bubbly Basin for Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be released on 5 August 2026. Check your local Nintendo eShop for more information.
This title is planned and co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK inc., and KOEI TECMO GAMES.
