PRISM+ Roam Ultra 27 Review: The Screen That Follows You Around the House

It isn’t quite a television, a tablet or a monitor, and that’s the idea.

Most of us have a monitor problem: one that doesn’t move when we do. The television is anchored to the living room wall, the monitor to the desk, and the tablet is too small the moment you want to share what’s on it. The PRISM+ Roam Ultra 27 is built around a simple, slightly cheeky question: what if the big screen simply came with you?

What it is

Strip away the marketing and the Roam Ultra 27 is a 27-inch 4K UHD smart movable touchscreen display designed as a flexible, battery-powered “giant tablet on wheels” for home or office use. PRISM+ says the intent is to be “not a TV”, but something better. In practice that means a giant tablet on castors, one that can be rolled from the sofa to the kitchen to the desk.

Design and the Stand

The look is clean and unfussy, a slim panel in a smart white frame. The display alone is just under 4cm thick and weighs 6.5kg, but the full rolling setup, stand included, comes to 16.4kg, so treat it as furniture rather than something to carry. The stand is where the personality lives. Its height adjusts by 200mm in either direction, the screen rotates 180° each way, and it flips between landscape and portrait. Portrait mode is an unusually thoughtful touch: it suits scrolling through recipes, a video call you want framed vertically, or a bedside lamp-style screen at night.

The Screen

On paper, the display has all the right specs. It’s a 27″ 4K UHD resolution touchscreen with over 8.3 million pixels. Note that the 4K resolution is dependent on application support and content source. For example, it doesn’t play 4K on Netflix, but it does on YouTube.

Smarts and Sound

Android 14 is the real hook. It supports the Google Play Store, Miracast, and mirroring from iPhones and Macs via E-Share, so apps and streaming services work without extra hardware. The hardware is modest but adequate: a hexa-core MT8370 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s an 8MP camera, a dual-mic array and 40W speakers, which makes it a credible video-call screen and a surprisingly loud party prop.

Battery life: the freedom and the limit

The wheels only matter if the cord doesn’t hold you back, and here the Roam is honest about its limits. The 9,150mAh battery gives about four hours of video playback or eight hours of normal use, and takes about 3.5 hours to charge. That’s enough for a film or an afternoon of work, but not a full day without topping up.

Final Thoughts

The Roam Ultra 27 isn’t trying to be the best TV, monitor or tablet; it’s for homes where one screen has to do a bit of everything: the recipe on the counter, the movie in the living room, the video call at the desk. If you want maximum sharpness for the money and all your streaming apps, buy a monitor. If you want a screen that follows you, the Roam is charming.
