The minimalist retailer’s east-side outpost returns with a reorganised floor, a new everyday-essentials zone and a very Singaporean love of a good freebie.
There is a particular kind of calm that comes with walking into a Muji: the muted palette, the unbranded labels, the sense that someone has already decided which notebook you need. The Tampines 1 outlet has always offered that. After a renovation, it now offers it with better signposting.

The store reopened this past week on 25 September 2026, after a renovation aimed at making everyday shopping easier to navigate. There is no dramatic reinvention here, and nothing about the brand’s quiet philosophy has changed. This is a practical refresh, shaped around how people really shop: quickly, on the way home, with a list that always seems to include shampoo.
Clothes, laid out like a wardrobe

The clothing section has seen the most thoughtful changes. Men’s and women’s garments are now organised more clearly, so shoppers can compare colours, cuts and fabrics side by side, and everyday wear, innerwear and loungewear each get their own tidier space. Display tables show how individual pieces can work together, a small nudge toward building outfits instead of buying one-off basics. For a brand whose appeal lies in the plain and the versatile, it is a sensible way to show off the range.
The errands corner

The addition most likely to earn regular visits is the new Daily Essentials area. It gathers frequently restocked household items, including selected kitchen and cleaning products, in one spot, so you no longer have to hunt through the store for them. It is a modest idea, but anyone who has wandered a shop looking for one refill pack will appreciate it.

The store is on the third floor of Tampines 1, at 10 Tampines Central 1, unit #03-06 to 07, next to Tampines MRT. Opening hours 11am to 9pm.
