Neon Genesis Evangelion celebrates 30th anniversary with a special-edition G-SHOCK watch

As one of the most influential anime series, it is only fitting that Neon Genesis Evangelion commemorates its 30th anniversary in a unique way, with an exclusive special watch designed in collaboration with CASIO.

In this landmark team-up, CASIO has enlisted the help of visionary extraordinaire Ikuto Yamashita, who is responsible for the hallmark mecha designs that you see throughout the Evangelion series.

This new piece, the GA-110EVA30-7A ($399), builds on the blueprint used in their first collaboration in 2010 for the GA-110, and transforms every surface into an homage to the Evangelion Unit-01, the familiar purple-and-green mecha.

The watch’s short band features the horn of Unit-01’s head while the bezel showcases the fierce face of the Evangelion itself, with the lower bezel and long band depicting its left arm gripping the red Spear of Longinus.

You’ll also find more visual storytelling on the watch face featuring Sachiel, the Third Angel, on the inset dial at the 9 o’clock position and an adjacent Y-shaped divider that incorporates the “CAUTION” pattern that is seen in the anime.

Engraved on the back of the watch case is a custom 30th anniversary logo that commemorates the three decades that the series has revolutionised anime storytelling.

The GA-110EVA30-7A is priced at $399 and is now available to pre-order online exclusively for CASIO-ID members. It will be officially launched in G-SHOCK stores from 31 October, 11am.
