In the next update of immersive experiences for Apple Vision Pro users, Apple has added an all-new immersive concert experience with legendary heavy metal band Metallica, that comes out today (14 March).
Filmed in Mexico City, during the band’s sold-out second-year finale of their M72 World Tour, the immersive content will feature full performances of three longtime staples — “Whiplash”, “One”, and “Enter Sandman” — from the band’s stadium-filling live shows; all captured exclusively in Apple Immersive Video.
This storytelling format is only made possible on Apple Vision Pro with its ultra-high-resolution 180-degree video and Spatial Audio that gives you unprecedented access to James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, through vantage points from as close up at the famed Snake Pit, to the wide angle views of the band.
In order to capture the band’s full performance from multiple perspectives, alongside the electric energy of the over 65,000 passionate fans, Apple built a custom stage layout that featured 14 Apple Immersive Video cameras with a mix of stabilised cameras, cable-suspended cameras, and remote-controlled camera dolly systems that moved around the stage.
