Is this the New Era of Barefoot Luxury: A Review of the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene hard floor cleaner

There is a specific kind of domestic anxiety known to many of us in Singapore with hardwood or marble floors. The standard vacuum will pick up dust and hair, but what about chocolate that your 9-year-old has smeared all over the floor (true story)? Going over that sweet, sticky mess with a vacuum means that your machine will never be the same again.

Enter the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene. Dyson’s latest “wet-and-dry” hybrid that’s a total reimagining of how we handle the messiest surfaces in our homes. We spent a week gliding this across our floors to discover whether this new mechanical device can replace the traditional mop.

DESIGN

In the hand, the Clean+Wash Hygiene is surprisingly light for a wet-and-dry vacuum. It features a new lie-flat format (only 113mm high), which allows it to reach under bed frames and sofas.

But of course the real magic is the filter-free system. Most wet cleaners rely on internal filters that end up clogging up with “sludge.” Dyson has bypassed this by keeping the entire waste separation system in the cleaner head. No dirty water travels up the neck of the machine; instead, it’s extracted and separated into wet and dry waste immediately. It’s a cleaner and more hygienic process.

PERFORMANCE

We put the Clean+Wash Hygiene through a lifestyle test: a Sunday morning post-brunch disaster.

  • The Agitation: The single, high-density microfiber roller (30% denser than previous models) combined with nylon bristles handled long hair without tangling — thanks to the new integrated anti-tangle comb.
  • The Finish: Perhaps the most impressive feat is the “60-second dry.” Because the machine is very efficient at extracting residual water. Floors are streak-free and dry fairly quickly, avoiding unnecessary slip and falls.

PROS AND CONS

Pros:

  • Light: At 3.8kg, it’s the most manoeuvrable wet cleaner we’ve tested.
  • Hygienic: The 85°C hot-air drying dock is a game-changer for odour prevention.
  • Edge-to-Edge: It actually reaches the baseboards, leaving no “grime border.”
  • Filter: The lack of an unhygienic exhaust filter means no recycled smells.

Cons:

  • Single Roller: While denser, some may miss the dual-roller “scrubbing” feel of the WashG1 on extremely textured tiles.
  • Battery Life: With roughly 45 minutes run time, it’s great for most apartments, but might require a tactical recharge for bigger homes.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is most suitable for apartments with hard flooring; and also if you’re tired of the “vacuum-then-mop” double labour, this is a decent solution. It’s light, quite smart, and significantly more hygienic than its predecessors.

The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is priced at $679 and available at Dyson stores and retailers, and on the brand’s official website at www.dyson.com.sg.
