The best trend that never went away from Spring/Summer 2027 Ready-To-Wear — the Checked Blazer

Prince of Wales check, Glen check, gun club check, and houndstooth… the checked blazer jacket is known by many names, and is constantly reinterpreted by both luxury and high-street brands across the seasons. It’s a classic investment that will survive fashion trends, and it’s a piece that’s easy to match with most of your existing wardrobe.

This past week on the Spring/Summer 2027 runways, we’ve spotted the jacket countless times, and in many variations. If checks are not for you, consider a solid classic brown blazer as seen at the Celine show. For Singapore weather, we recommend looking for a 100% cotton jacket with a cool-to-the-touch lining (silk is best).

We first spotted the checked blazer on the Miu Miu runway in two styles: loose yet structured or fitted and cinched at the waist. Both are flattering and exude different vibes (cool and relaxed vs. polished and sophisticated).

The Dior jackets are less structured and more feminine, while Chanel went beautifully oversized in one key look, and classic in their iconic collarless style.

Then there are the mens’ looks at Maison Valentino that favour textures, are double breasted and worn casually with baggy, pleated pants.

If you prefer a solid jacket, consider neutral earthy tones like the ones seen at Celine, and pair these with other muted colours in the same colour family or in creams and light greys to keep the entire look “light”.

A good place to start looking for your investment piece would be net-a-porter. Just search for “checked jacket” and you’ll see great options from Saint Laurent, Acne Studios and more.
