All the major announcements from the Disney Entertainment Showcase at this year’s D23, Disney’s ultimate fan event in Anaheim

It was a magical weekend in Anaheim, California, as Disney fans gathered for the D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which offered an expanded show floor filled with immersive experiences and exclusive offerings, including first looks at what’s next from Disney’s world-class storytellers. Here’s a look at the upcoming lineup announced during the Disney Entertainment Showcase.

Disney

Kicking off the Disney presentation, Disney fans were treated to an appearance from Princess Mia herself, Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, who shared what being a member of the Disney family has meant to her since appearing in The Princess Diaries.

Then, came time for a look at the upcoming films to be released over the next few years from Disney.

The first being the next instalment of Lilo & Stitch 2, which will see the debut of Stitch’s pink co-star Angel, slated to open in theatres 26 May 2028, followed by the sharing of an exclusive clip from Ice Age: Boiling Point (set to release on 5 February 2027), which introduces Scrat and Baby Scrat’s enormous, prehistoric cousin, Jurassic Scrat.

Fans of Bluey will be happy to note that there is a brand-new teaser trailer and poster debut for The Bluey Movie, offering a first look at the CG-animated film based on the beloved series.

The film hits theatres on 6 August 2027, and you can catch the teaser below.

After Moana has had her live-action treatment, everyone’s beloved blonde princess gets her turn in the live-action retelling of the 2010 Disney animated film, Tangled.

Disney fans were surprised with a taped message from Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, played by Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim, and an appearance from Kathryn Hahn (who plays Mother Gothel).

Tangled is scheduled to be released on 31 March 2028.

Rounding up the Disney highlights is the highly anticipated Disney+ live-action animated hybrid series, Oswald, from Disney Legend Jon Favreau. Based on the classic character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, the series follows a middle school boy and his friends who tries to help Oswald navigate his way through the modern world, after an earthquake released him from being hidden away since the 1920s.

Oswald will premiere on 17 February 2027, exclusively on Disney+.

Pixar Animation Studios

The Pixar portion of the showcase began with an exclusive first look at Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 3, which features the Parr family of Supers back in action with an announced released date of 16 June 2028.

This was followed by the introduction of another returning favourite, Coco, in its sequel Coco 2, which will see a teenage Miguel who will have to make a life-changing return trip to the Land of the Dead, where he will encounter the film’s first villain, Ernesto de la Cruz (voiced by Benjamin Bratt).

Coco 2 is set to debut exclusively in theatres in November 2029.

Aside from the sequels, Pixar also introduced two new films, one of which you might have already seen teasers for.

Gatto, which is set to release on 5 March 2027, tells the story of a scrappy black cat Nero (voiced by Mark Ruffalo) who begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives after years of manoeuvring the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy. Indebted to Rocco (voiced by Laurence Fishburne), a ruthless local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose; that is if Venice does not get the better of him first.

And finally, if you’re like us, who’ve been longing for a spooky-ish animation, Pixar’s brand-new original film Ghost Market might just be what you’re looking for.

At D23, a clip from the film was shown which introduces audiences to ‘Ono Market, a little plate lunch shop hidden away in a remote location on O’ahu North Shore that serves lost spirits who are stuck between life and death. 

The living have never set foot in this place, until Kyle, a fast-talking kid, blunders in and finds himself on an unexpected supernatural adventure.

Ghost Market is set to hit theatres March 2028.

Marvel Studios

Marvel presentations are always exciting and this was no disappointment as the studios give fans a first look at the trailer and poster for the highly-anticipated all-new original series, VisionQuest.

Set to stream on Disney+ 14 October 2026, it tells the story of Vision (played by Paul Bettany) who is in hiding after he was rebooted and escaped those who sought to weaponise him. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, which includes the infamous Ultron (played by James Spader). 

His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head sends him on the run with Thomas Shepard (played by Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious boy who may or may not be Vision’s reincarnated son. As Vision tries to evade capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma  surrounding his young companion if he wants to survive.

Another exciting unveiling during the Marvel Studios showcase is the introduction of some of the principal cast for the all-new X-Men film that is in development.

Sadie Sink, who made her debut as Jean-Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, had her fellow cast mates Kit Connor (Cyclops or Scott Summers), Christopher Abbott (Professor Charles Xavier), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Inde Navarrette (Rogue), and Maya Boyd (Storm), join her on stage before a special video recording with Adam Driver was shown, to introduce him as Nathaniel Milbury aka Mr Sinister. 

The untitled X-Men film is set to be released 5 May 2028.

During this portion, the teaser trailer for Ahsoka Season 2 was shown, which sees Rosario Dawson return in the titular role, set after the fall of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic. The upcoming series will see Ahsoka confront what it means to be a Jedi while the galaxy faces a formidable opponent in Grand Admiral Thrawn. 

Ahsoka Season 2 is set to stream exclusively on Disney+ on 20 January 2027. You can catch the teaser trailer below.

Trading in his Mickey Mouse Club jacket, Ryan Gosling joins the Star Wars Galaxy in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, which tells the story of a cynical rogue who is confronted by his mysterious past and hurled into a dangerous adventure across the galaxy that will put him on a crash course with destiny.

The film is set to be release in theatres 28 May 2027.

Walt Disney Animation Studios

After the success of Zootopia 2, it was announced that Nick and Judy will return in Zootopia 3. As the film is still in early development at the studio, an exclusive custom sequence was shown to fans, which suggested the appearance of birds — an animal group that has yet to appear in the franchise.

As it is still the beginning stages for the film, a release date is set to be announced at a later date.

Rounding out the presentation of upcoming titles was the introduction of Frozen 3. In addition to the appearance from the cast, an all-new animation of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven was shown to the audience, where they were shown a glimpse of a new villainess whose powers rival those of Elsa’s. 

Frozen 3 is set to release in theatres 24 November 2027.
