Designed to empower women, DeMellier’s pieces are ethically crafted in their trusted factories in Europe using the finest sustainably-sourced materials.
In addition to their efforts to remain a sustainably responsible business, they’ve also taken the opportunity to give back to those less fortunate through the initiative, ‘A Bag, A Life’, where they fund vaccines and treatments aimed to save the life of a child in need with every piece of bag sold.
Till now, DeMellier has funded over 1,000,000 vaccines and medical treatments for children in need, together with the aid of international children’s charity SOS Children’s Villages and local vaccine providers.
Founded by Mireia Llusia-Lindh, DeMellier symbolises the mix of heritage and modernity, and the old and the new. The brand’s name also originates from her own heritage with ‘De’ representing her grandmother and her roots, and ‘Mellier’ coming from Mireia’s own name of French descent.
ETHICALLY AND SUSTAINABLY MADE
The leathers used to make DeMellier bags are all gold and silver rated by the Leather Working Group, and are by-products of the food industry that would otherwise go to waste.
Even with their current efforts, DeMeliier continues to work hard to research new materials and practices to ensure that they stay at the forefront of the ethical and sustainability practices, which range from extending the life of their products to using as many sustainable materials as possible.
Each creation is like a little piece of art, taking up to 35 artisans and 50 individual pieces to make one bag.
