First created as a tribute to the cities that Le Labo loves around the world, fragrances from the City Exclusive Collection are typically only found in the labs of the cities that they belong to.
However, the scents do get to travel out of their cities annually in the month of September, where they would be available in full-sized bottles for Le Labo fans to purchase wherever they are.
This year, the collection welcomes a new City Exclusive fragrance dedicated to the Japanese city, Kyoto.
Since the birth of the brand, Japan has been a profound source of inspiration. Having opened its first location outside the United States in Tokyo in 2007, Le Labo went on to introduce GAIAC 10 for Tokyo, a City Exclusive favourite that embodies the brand’s admiration for a place so rich with history.
Now, Le Labo pays tribute to Kyoto, where they had began their first lab in 2020 at the Ace Hotel, alongside the addition of a traditional Kyoto Machiya in 2024 to offer a sanctuary for the senses while honouring the city’s architectural legacy.
OSMANTHUS 19 is the second City Exclusive scent for Japan with notes of incense, aromatic lavender and osmanthus, with woody, resinous tonalities that follow close behind. The composition is pure Kyoto, providing a nuanced scent for a town where traditional machiya houses sometimes harmonise with concrete and neon.
